Hi everyone ☺️

I am a bit eager with this thread, I've just started my dreaded period (feel a little glum to be honest!) and I have been ovulating quite late, so if by a miracle I am successful this month I would be due end of may/early June. I have been dipping in and out of these threads and found them fantastic support so I hope you don't mind me carrying on the trend!

I am going into cycle 4, I am 31 and were trying for our first πŸ‘ΆπŸ»I suffered a chemical pregnancy recently and I feel SO ready to become pregnant, I want this so badly, as I am sure you all do too!

I was trawling through some old threads and found these facts that I found useful , feel free to read if you like πŸ˜™

  1. 80% of couples having regular sex (2/3 times a week) with no issues will fall pregnant in a year.
  2. 90% of couples having regular sex with no issues will fall pregnant in two years.
3.Each cycle you have approx 20% chance of falling pregnant. 4.The egg only lives for 24 hours so very small window to fertilise it 5.Decent sperm can live up to 5 days inside you so good to have sex before you think you ovulate as well as after. 6.If using ovulation testing the test picks up on Lh surge which often happens after the egg has been released. 7.Most NHS CCG will not investigate fertility problems until you have been having regular unprotected sex for over a year and some places insists for two years. 8.If you track your Basel body temperature it can give you a good indication of when you ovulate to get to know your cycles.
  1. Some types of lube can damage sperm be careful what you are using. (We are using preseed but using it like normal lube, not inserting it prior!)

Wishing you all the luck in world for this cycle 🀞🀞🀞🀞🀞

For those that test twice a day, what times do you test?

I got my first high reading last night!! Partner was too tired so we didn’t DTD (booo!) and I want to track again today, but unsure when I should test! I’ve been testing at 5pm each day

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 05/09/2022 19:46

Thank you @Mayfield87 !! Super appreciate that!

LavenderWillow · 05/09/2022 20:05

@Tophy124 when I was doing opk I did about 6.30am when I get up with FMU then I did another about 7pm after a few hours hold!

Sparklythings1 · 05/09/2022 20:32

@Tophy124 I had to watch a video for the easy at home ones to remind myself how to use them and it said it’s best to test during the day rather than at night like 8-8ish or something and not your first wee of the day. I’m trying to do two during that time but I’m finding it’s too much of a faff to do at work so I’m just having to do one before I leave and one when I get home

Sparklythings1 · 05/09/2022 20:33

@Tophy124 also being too tired last night is probably fine since you most likely won’t ovulate until tonight or tomorrow 🀞🏼

Sparklythings1 · 05/09/2022 20:35

Also anyone else just feel like they want to withdraw from work/life/everything until they’re pregnant and have had the 12 week scan? πŸ™ˆ I feel like work is such a drag and I can’t be bothered talking to anyone when I just want to tell them I’m trying. People have been saying plans for next year etc at work and in my head I’m just screaming β€˜so hope I’m not still here then’ πŸ˜‚

Mummyme87 · 05/09/2022 20:46

When I start getting darker OPKs I test up to 3 times a day, the peak comes and goes so quickly. I usually test 9.30ish, 2pm-ish and about 5pm-ish.

Bluejeanbaby91 · 05/09/2022 20:48

@Amelia231 how long past the 3 mins did the line show up? It looks good to me though! How many DPO are you?

Tophy124 · 05/09/2022 21:25

Thank you all!! I will test again at 5pm as missed the chance to test earlier but tomorrow will test around 10am and then the usual 5pm.

How fast do the peaks come and go for you all? I had no idea peaks can go so fast.

@Sparklythings1 Its so hard to think about future plans when you want to be pregnant. Especially plans that may require you to not be pregnant like going abroad or booking boozy weekends away. I try to plan like I won’t be pregnant whilst secretly hoping I will be!

I’ve got it the other way around where my Mum wants to fly out to see us and I’ve convinced her to come next year instead and she’s suspicious so I had to let her know why! Haha. She was quite pleased and said she would rather wait and come if/when needed, but if I haven’t conceived by Christmas I think we will just buy her flights out here x

Tophy124 · 05/09/2022 21:27

@Mummyme87 If the peak goes fast could it show on one test and then not on a later test on the same day? And the peak happens a day or so before ovulation right?

Trying to get my head around the science of it all! It’s truly amazing how people get pregnant without trying once you think about it in depth

anotherpotoftea · 05/09/2022 21:59

@Sparklythings1 it is so hard re making plans to do things. I’ve got an appointment booked for something I’ll need to cancel if I’m pg and some plans I’ll need to change and I’m finding it so hard just going through the motions of agreeing to things anyway while hoping I’ll need to cancel!

@Tophy124 the science of it all is making me feel so clueless too.

We’ve had a lovely holiday but found it so hard seeing people with babies. Even the main character in a book I was reading got an unexpected bloody BFP and I felt really irrationally annoyed about it.

NatGee · 05/09/2022 22:10

@Amelia231 that looks positive to me?! is it a good time to tentatively congratulate you? You must be so excited :)

NatGee · 05/09/2022 22:12

@Sparklythings1 lol yes, but I found that I was beginning to lose touch with the here and now. The feeling of disappointment when AF arrived felt so much more painful so making a conscious effort to find things to distract me in the knowledge that I am doing what I can

NatGee · 05/09/2022 22:14

@Tophy124 only began opking last cycle - CB in the am with fmu until it starts flashing then I use the strips in the evening, but I dont use the app, I trust my eyes instead. Good luck catching the egg

Tophy124 · 05/09/2022 22:34

@anotherpotoftea Once you start trying, you will feel like babies are everywhere!! Every show or movie, every time you go on social media, going out to eat. It’s like our brains are suddenly picking up on it and being hyper aware.

My social media is flooded with pregnancy announcements, so many friends are pregnant, virgin river is all about babies, even house of dragon has a lot of pregnancy storylines!

Completely normal to feel annoyed and jealous or even devastatingly upset. I had to take mental breaks from some friendships when trying to conceive before as I just couldn’t listen to the complaining about pregnancy when I desperately wanted to be xx

Tophy124 · 05/09/2022 22:36

@NatGee thank you!! Will definitely get some CB for next month to take some guess work out :)

@Amelia231 I thought I was looking at an OPK!
Fingers crossed this is a positive but looks promising xx

Mummyme87 · 05/09/2022 22:38

@Tophy124 yes! You can easily miss your peak if it’s a quick surge

NatGee · 05/09/2022 22:58

@Tophy124 I have a friend who I think is avoiding me because she knows we're ttc.... such a shame. she is a little older but no partner which is a frustration for her because she'd like kids.

Tophy124 · 05/09/2022 23:38

Is this a surge? Or just means a surge is coming?
Apologies for all the questions!! I’ve googled and confused myself more. Also worried I read the test after too long so will try and do another at 10pm if still awake

Tophy124 · 05/09/2022 23:41

@NatGee It’s really hard to be on either side of that. The friend needing a bit of space, but also the friend with exciting news or wanting support but knowing your friend needs space.

I always stay in touch with my friends, I just wait for the pregnant ones to share with me, more than me openly asking them questions all the time or being super involved. I’m very very happy for them tho. It’s more the staggering amount of pregnant acquaintances I can’t believe. It’s so many and people I’m not super close to anyway, so I’ve just done some sneaky social media unfollows.

NatGee · 06/09/2022 00:08

@Tophy124 you sound like a good friend :) and that looks like a peak to me πŸ‘πŸ½

Tophy124 · 06/09/2022 01:17

@NatGee eeek I hope so!! It’s my first time tracking with OPKs so my app is predicting I will ovulate Thursday once my husband has left for a work trip, but I’m hoping to app may be wrong.

Thank you!! I feel like a bad friend for not being super involved in their pregnancies but they know I’m here if they want to talk about anything. I have a few friends TTC too and I honored that they have even shared with us as I know what a sensitive topic it is xx

Tophy124 · 06/09/2022 01:19

Does anyone else feel like people β€˜know’ when you’re trying? Cue red face and giggles 🀣

My husbands friend just said β€˜oh are you guys trying for baby 2?’ And another friend of mine asked last week! We have said nothing, and nobody has asked us before! Could be that we have a nearly 2yr old so maybe people expect it now but omg! I never know what to say and we both get so awkward! We both just laugh it off and say oh maybe in the future but it’s like we are sending off weird signals for people to ask us or something

Amelia231 · 06/09/2022 07:03

I tried the ovulation tests but they didn't show a line. But going by EWCM I ovulated approx 18th Aug. I originally thought I ovulated earlier going by the flo app. But my cycles are more 32 days rather than 28.
Fingers crossed, I'm trying not to get too excited too early on.
Waited about 3 mins for the preg test - it was blank at first - and had accepted it wasn't to be this month

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 06/09/2022 07:11

AF fully arrived last night so onto cycle #2 and technically CD2 today! Trying to stay positive and wishing baby dust to all!!
