Preparing to TTC in 2022 - part 5

WingingIt09 · 25/07/2022 14:45

Hi ladies, we're onto thread 5! I'm afraid I've completely lost track of the list since I took a break off Mumsnet.... so let's make an updated one!

Roll call for those

  • TTC graduates.... pregnant ladies who are you and when are you due? Hope you're all doing well
  • Actively trying.... what cycle are we all in? Any particular plans for this next one?
  • Waiting to TTC.... what month are you planning on starting?

@EdinburghGirl1 I might have to give this a go!
im assuming it will vary slightly with each cycle? my last cycle was 24 days and this one is due to be 25 days, i usually ovulate CD11 🙂

HeathenPlayingHouse · 26/07/2022 11:22

@EdinburghGirl1 We DTD on CDs 8 and 10, but missed yesterday which was 12. I asked if he wanted to come to bed but he said no because he'd had a few beers.

I don't mind, but it annoys me when he starts complaining about the time it takes TTC when it seems like I'm the only one who has to change anything- I have to take the meds, change the diet, track the cycles and plan the schedule. He just needs to show up.

LucyLoopyLu · 26/07/2022 11:26

Hi all 👋 I thought the thread was quiet not realising we had filled one 🤦‍♀️

I'm 33, TTC no.1, currently cycle 4 and got my peak OPK yesterday evening. We DTD on Monday and last night - not sure whether to go for tonight or tomorrow night 😶

I have been talking more to my OH and we are putting the effort in now.

If we don't have any enjoy this month I might order a thermometer to do BBT and some preseed. I'm thinking if we have no joy by end of October I might get us booked in for fertility testing privately. I've seen somewhere nearby that does it. I know they say give it a year if you're under 35 bit I will be 34 in October and husband is 36 so I don't want to wait if I don't have to.

EdinburghGirl1 · 26/07/2022 11:33

@LauraA31 yes it would a bit. I would just start DTD every other day after your period finishes

@HeathenPlayingHouse I get how it's so annoying that it's like we have to put in the effort and think about it all. I remember getting really annoyed at my ex husband when we were ttc and he was going out and drinking and eating rubbish yet there I was trying to be as healthy as I possibly could for ttc. How long are your cycles, do you know when you ovulate? Do you test? If you're not yet at ovulation I don't think missing day 12 will matter. Maybe try tonight instead and do every other day from there?

HeathenPlayingHouse · 26/07/2022 12:00

@EdinburghGirl1 Thank you, we will be.

I shouldn't worry too much about considering how faint my OPK was yesterday, not to mention it's only my first full cycle on Metformin. My cycles have been godawful until recently as I had to wait to see the gynaecologist- finally on the right track to treat my PCOS with both Metformin and inositol.

I think maybe I'm just feeling the clock, you know? I'm 37 in a few weeks and it took us 4 years to conceive our son- time is not necessarily on my side.

SarahShorty · 26/07/2022 14:22

Thanks, @WingingIt09 xx Upon further inspection it looks like the temp drop was .15 of a degree. It looks huge on the graph, but it's not, it's just under a 6th of a degree. There is still hope. The "You're not out until AF comes." mantra holds strong.

MoorlandFlower · 26/07/2022 14:34

Hi @polkadotdasies88 great that your cycle seems to have settled back into a rhythm so swiftly. I’m at similar stage currently CD14 but I tend to ovulate around CD16 so also in BD mode this week! So we will be going through TWW around same time :)

HeathenPlayingHouse · 26/07/2022 14:43

So PreMom shows a change on my OPK from 0.1 yesterday to 0.13 today- looks like BDing yesterday wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference since my ovaries age feeling decidedly lazy as usual.

This cycle may end up being a trial run (I was going to say tester cycle but it made me giggle too much- how am I an adult again? 😂)

Chanteuse · 26/07/2022 15:13

@DesertSnow I also have endometriosis and have the same worries about fertility - it’s awful isn’t it! I’ve decided to not track anything at least for the first few months just so I’m not overthinking too much.

I’ve had my coil out today and it was surprisingly pain free - I’m so glad because I had a terrible time getting it in. Picked up some pregnacare and took one. So, officially TTC as of today!

FourOclock · 26/07/2022 15:17

Hello! Haven't been using mumsnet as much recently so think I have missed a few threads! How is everyone doing? Currently 25 weeks pregnant and feeling good!

polkadotdasies88 · 26/07/2022 16:14

@MoorlandFlower Aw yay I was hoping to find someone who'd be going through it at a similar time :) I think my odds are very small given its my first potential "proper" cycle but I'm trying to keep optimistic! It still all feels a bit complicated to get my head around but I'm getting there slowly (I think 😂)

tryingtryinggone · 26/07/2022 16:22

Ah lost the thread as I didn’t realise we’d filled the last one! AF got me yesterday which I’m so gutted about as we’d dtd at the right times this month. Onto cycle 5 😭 think I’m going to order a thermometer this month and bbt. Does anyone use a particular thermometer or would any one do? No idea what I’ll be doing with it so will have to do lots of reading. Also really hoping it’ll be accurate enough as my DD doesn’t always sleep through so I often have disturbed sleep. Is there a length of sleep time you need for it to be accurate does anyone know? I’ll feel better if I’m at least doing something

SarahShorty · 26/07/2022 16:32

@tryingtryinggone for BBT I'd recommend easy@home. I use their OPKs with their app Premom, so lots of bias 😂 It's recommended that you have at least 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep for it to be the most accurate possible. Obviously that's not always achievable so really just do what you can. So many things can throw it off, stress, illness etc You might find it tricky at first to remember to stick it in your mouth every morning, but it does become second nature if you keep at it for long enough. I use is as more of a look-back to make sure I've ovulated rather than a predictor, though it does help to give a clearer picture of what your body is doing.

LucyLoopyLu · 26/07/2022 16:48

@Chanteuse congrats on officially TTC! Glad your coil removal went well, especially if you've been dreading it

@HeathenPlayingHouse my OPK this month went low Sat, low Sun (same levels), Mon AM high, Mon evening peak so went from low to peak in 27/28 hours - maybe yours will do the same?

@FourOClock hi! Glad you're feeling good! Thanks for checking in. Are you really 25 weeks already!? That time has gone so fast. Are you finding out the sex?

@tryingtryinggone sorry about AF coming! Hope you're ok

FourOclock · 26/07/2022 17:20

@LucyLoopyLu I know it's really going so quickly. I have tried (three times 😅) to find out the sex but no luck so I think I'm not supposed to know! I have a growth scan at 32 weeks but I think I will probably just wait now, I feel like the universe is telling me to 😂

dearhummingbirds · 26/07/2022 17:49

Hello! I wasn’t around much at the end of the last thread.
But did pop in to see who had gotten BFPs from time to time.

I’m 31. We were thinking about trying in mid-August, due to me having been at my new job more than 6 months. However, looking at my cycles it was not going to hit right, and we would have been pushing it to September. However, we are now going to Australia the first two weeks of October. So thinking we’ll do our first TTC DTD there.

That said, I really don’t want to be heavily pregnant in a repeat of this years heatwave next year 😂 so could be terrible timing if we’re lucky the first few cycles.

Chanteuse · 26/07/2022 17:54

@LucyLoopyLu thankyou! Yeah I really was dreading it but had nothing to worry about thankfully!

Bananatoast123 · 26/07/2022 18:55

AF has visited once again 😖 so back to CD1 for me and cycle number 6!

Who else is beginning of their cycle? Looking for any potential ovulation or TWW buddies once I get there!! My aim this month is to try relax as much as possible and get my OH to dtd as much as I can get him to from CD10 as I seem to ovulate between CD13 and CD17!

SarahShorty · 26/07/2022 19:10

@Bananatoast123 I'm sorry to hear AF got you. I think AF might get me, too. I've honestly lost hope for this cycle. Your ovulation days seem to vary like mine do. Sometimes it's CD17, sometimes it's CD21.

lj2022 · 26/07/2022 19:18

@Bananatoast123 so sorry AF arrived for you. I found going into cycle 6 quite hard so hope you're doing okay and treat yourself to something, steak, wine or just something you really enjoy! Look after yourself

tryingtryinggone · 26/07/2022 19:53

Thank you @SarahShorty. I’m also using easy@home OPKs and the Premom app so I guess their thermometer makes sense but has a hefty price tag compared to some others haha! I’m hoping it’ll just confirm ovulation for me as now it’s been 4 months I’m getting twitchy. I know it’s not long in the great scheme of things but feels like ages.

@Bananatoast123 im on CD2 so we’re close. When abouts do you ovulate usually?

LemonZestDribbles · 26/07/2022 19:55

Hello everyone - lots of new names! Sending you all baby luck

@WingingIt09 I can see a line. Fingers crossed it isn't an evap

@FourOclock the universe is definitely telling you to wait - that would drive me wild

I'm 14 weeks how and due 21 Jan. Feeling uber sick still so not been on mn much

Tropicana1 · 26/07/2022 22:42

Hey @FourOclock and @LemonZestDribbles great to hear from you both! Glad you're both doing well ☺️

Bananatoast123 · 26/07/2022 23:13

@SarahShorty ahh sending good luck to you just incase you get a positive turn around!! Yeah it has varied! Although recently it’s stuck between CD15/16 and my cycle has like gotten more stable as I’m ranging more 26-29 days whereas before I was 25-31 but I think this is the vitamins I’m taking as it’s the most consistent I’ve ever been! I also think I’m really sensitive to stress too!

@lj2022 thank you ❤️ I have been dreading it tbh! I’m 27 so I never thought it would be difficult after hearing friends catching on quickly. We went to the cinema to watch maverick tonight so that was a little bonus!!

trying to stay positive and hoping we catch on over the next few cycles before Christmas!

@tryingtryinggone ahh we are close! Sorry AF got you two days ago! My OPK peak is usually around CD15 but can be earlier or later! What about you? I’m going to try focus on me this cycle rather than dates or fertile windows or testing LH etc, and try just make sure I’m relaxed and happy! I’m even tempted to delete my tracking apps too and just focus on having lots of dtd over the next 2 weeks once AF has gone! What’s your plan?

EdinburghGirl1 · 27/07/2022 06:14

@Bananatoast123 sorry to hear AF arrived but I like your positive attitude to focusing on you this month and lots of DTD in the next 2 weeks rather than obsessing over everything. FX for you for this cycle
