Hi ladies, we're onto thread 5! I'm afraid I've completely lost track of the list since I took a break off Mumsnet.... so let's make an updated one!

Roll call for those

  • TTC graduates.... pregnant ladies who are you and when are you due? Hope you're all doing well
  • Actively trying.... what cycle are we all in? Any particular plans for this next one?
  • Waiting to TTC.... what month are you planning on starting?

@H1994 yep it's a journey for sure. Last month I was absolutely crushed when AF arrived going to try not be as sad this time round but I always just take the day to be sad. Glad I'm on annual leave when AF is due this month. Hopefully it's a nice quick journey for you 🤞

@Springblooms08 I've never had a positive OPK but bloods and bbt confirmed I ovulate so don't worry too much about not getting a positive OPK some people just don't get as strong a surge or a very short surge that's hard to catch

Welshgal85 · 25/07/2022 18:03

Hi 👋 I joined in the last thread. We were meant to start TTC #1 this month but got Covid so that messed up things. So will start next month instead. Luckily AF hasn’t been disrupted by Covid!

Hope everyone else is okay. Feeling a bit apprehensive about TTC, it’s all starting to feel a bit real now. Also we have a really busy month next month with a few weddings to go to so it’s going to be a busy time but I don’t want to put off trying again! I did some ovulation tests recently which worked so hopefully they are correct and I do ovulate!

H1994 · 25/07/2022 18:08

@lj2022 bless you... that's good, fingers crossed for you. And thank you 💓🤞🏼

Springblooms08 · 25/07/2022 18:11

@lj2022 thank you 💛just overthinking again. I promised myself I wasn’t going to use OPKs this cycle but I caved - so silly as I wouldn’t be worrying now if I hadn’t. Hope you’re doing okay this cycle, sending love

DesertSnow · 25/07/2022 18:34

Thanks for the new thread @WingingIt09 - fingers crossed it's a lucky one!

I'm waiting to try for #1 in September, before my wedding in November. I'm 31. Very impatiently waiting, I should add! Not anticipating a smooth journey due to endometriosis and some other issues.

DesertSnow · 25/07/2022 18:36

@lj2022 That's reassuring about the OPKs. This is my 3rd month tracking and last two cycles I had a strong peak reading, then this cycle not even close, but BBT seems to indicate that I've ovulated. I use a few different fertility apps and it seems to have confused them!

lj2022 · 25/07/2022 21:39

@DesertSnow sorry to hear about your endo I can't even imagine how tough that must be! I suffer painful periods so I can't imagine what you must go through. What apps have you been using ?

DesertSnow · 25/07/2022 21:55

@lj2022 thank you, it is tough and sometimes very debilitating, but if I am able to have children then I can deal with the pain - fertility is my main worry and there's no knowing really until we try. Sorry about your periods too, it really sucks.

I'm using Flo, Glow, Femometer and Fertility Friend. Too many? 😅 So far Fertility Friend seems to be most accurate for my cycles.

I've started taking Vitamin C as my luteal phase seems borderline (10 days).

lj2022 · 25/07/2022 21:57

@DesertSnow I have a friend with endo and she managed to conceive on an average timescale so 🤞 you're the same!

I was taking a few things for my LP and managed to get it from 9 days to 12 I think high dosage of vitamin c was one of them so hope that works for you too

SVC11 · 25/07/2022 22:04

Hey everyone. Ttc #2. On cycle 3 now and shoullldd be ovulating soonish I think. Have started temping this cycle. I have a short luteal phase and started taking b6 and vit c too so hoping that improves it. Congrats on the positives recently x

DesertSnow · 25/07/2022 22:17

@lj2022 Thank you, that's encouraging to hear!

Great to hear you managed to increase your LP - hoping the Vitamin C might make a difference but think there's a few different things to try if not. It's all a bit unknown, isn't it? They should do classes on this stuff at school.

Fingers crossed for you too.

WingingIt09 · 26/07/2022 06:54

Tested again this morning with FMU. Again can maybe see a shadow of a line but since that's all I could see 2 days ago I think it's an indent 🙁 I'm either 10/11dpo today and usually have a line by now if pregnant so I think I'm out. AF is due either tomorrow or Thursday so if hasn't arrived by Friday I'll test again.

Just looked back at it again (I know I shouldn't have) and the line is clearer with a hint of pink so maybe 🤔 clutching at straws I know. Probably still an evap

@WingingIt09 I think I see a hint of something in the second photo

SarahShorty · 26/07/2022 07:25

@WingingIt09 there is definitely something in the second picture.

My temp dropped this morning. That's me out again 😔 Absolute shit.

WingingIt09 · 26/07/2022 07:29

Looking back at that second picture it really looks grey so I reckon it's an evap 😕 need to not get my hopes up.

I'm so sorry temp has dropped again for you @SarahShorty. Sending big hugs and get some wine/choc in. I've made a deal with myself that each month I'm not pregnant I do something I couldn't have done if I was E.g. took my daughter to a theme park for a mum and daughter day, eating pate and drinking alcohol, this month it's our wedding anniversary so think I'll book a spa day once AF arrives and do all the hot tubs/steam rooms!

PinkButtercups · 26/07/2022 07:30

@WingingIt09 when you compared 24/7 & 26/7 I can definitely see a line. 🤞🏼 for you.

Tropicana1 · 26/07/2022 08:14

@WingingIt09 thanks for the new thread - I think I can see a hint but I got pretty stung last month with a similar that ended up as nothing.
Got my fingers crossed for you though!

Just catching up on the chat, had a little mumsnet / obsessing about TTC break for 2 weeks after aF arrived and feeling more positive again now as I go into my fertile week - got my first flashing smiley this morning and DTD last night so now just need to keep on DTD every other day until peak! Currently CD11 but who knows when that will be based on the last couple of months variation. Decided to stop monitoring bbt as well which I think so far is helping me to not obsess so much

WingingIt09 · 26/07/2022 08:16

@Tropicana1 yeah I'm trying not to let myself get my hopes up as I know that FRERs can give evaps/indents! I also didn't BBT this cycle to try and help with not obsessing as much, I think it helped me be more relaxed overall but find it annoying not to know exactly how many DPO I am as the OPKs can't confirm that to an exact day!

Bananatoast123 · 26/07/2022 08:27

Ah yay I found the new thread! Hey everyone!!

I’m TTC#1 and on cycle 5…. AF is 3 days late according to premom or 1 day according to Flo! But I’m getting BFN! I have no signs of it coming too, boobs are sore one day and not the next!

I feel like it’s wishful thinking but I’ve only tested with FRER… should I test with other brands or just wait for AF?

I could’ve ovulated later than I thought but I tested for my peak and tested it out too and I’ve usually been good at predicting my cycle from them!

HeathenPlayingHouse · 26/07/2022 09:41

CD13 and yesterday we failed at SMEP 🙈 Which is fine, but it's annoying when OH insists we do "exactly the same as what we did to get DS" but then doesn't stick to it.

Because guaranteed when AF turns up, he'll be complaining that TTC is taking too long and it was much quicker with his older kids. Which just makes me feel shitty, because I'm the one with the fertility problems but I can only meet him halfway.

Ugh, just needed a little rant! 😂

Bananatoast123 · 26/07/2022 09:46

@HeathenPlayingHouse oh please rant away… it’s what we are here for 🥰! If it helps my OH is the most chilled out ever, he’s only just agreeing he needs to be healthy and cut back his beer intake… 6 months in! It drives me crazy as I’m a control freak with this TTC and want to do everything we can to make it happen quickly!

LauraA31 · 26/07/2022 10:01

I have heard a lot about SMEP, does it work and what are the rules haha 🙂

EdinburghGirl1 · 26/07/2022 10:19

yes @HeathenPlayingHouse rant away. In what way did you fail?

@LauraA31 the basics of SMEP is you start DTD every other day from day 8. Start OPK day 10. When you get your peak you DTD 3 days in a row, skip a day and then one more day in case you ovulate later. I had planned on doing it this month but didn't stick to it totally. We DTD CD 6, 7, 9, 10, 11 and I think I ovulated CD11 and had my peak CD10. we missed CD12 but had already done 3 days in a row so I'm happy with that.

polkadotdasies88 · 26/07/2022 10:56

I'm currently on cycle day 12 of what I believe to be my first cycle post stopping the pill on June 22nd. I had a period on 15th July. I've had a bad headache since yesterday & started noticing EWCM last night. My ovulation test yesterday was negative, I did one this morning with FMU and got the flashing smiley face and a line on a One-step! I nearly fell over! Trying not to get too ahead of myself but will be doing as much BD'ing as possible!
