Hi ladies, we're onto thread 5! I'm afraid I've completely lost track of the list since I took a break off Mumsnet.... so let's make an updated one!

Roll call for those

  • TTC graduates.... pregnant ladies who are you and when are you due? Hope you're all doing well
  • Actively trying.... what cycle are we all in? Any particular plans for this next one?
  • Waiting to TTC.... what month are you planning on starting?

@Bananatoast123 I'm sorry you're having a tough couple days. This ttc malarky is hard and can be emotionally draining. Having family talk about little ones would definitely not help Sometimes you just gotta cry and let it out though and glad your OH was understanding. As @Tropicana1 said your not out yet and it's still early at 7dpo.

@DanisEndo that's exciting you'll be starting soon.

@Houseelf90 I'm like you I use OPK but don't tell my OH about all that stuff as he's much more laid back and not a planner like me lol and I don't want to add any pressure for him

Bananatoast123 · 15/08/2022 14:32

@EdinburghGirl1 thank you! It really is draining and I’m properly struggling to pick myself back up about it all!

I need to remember in doing positive little steps to having better health etc will help! The OH said if I wanted us to go pay for tests to give me peace of mind we could and I’m really contemplating it if this month isn’t successful!

@Houseelf90 I also do this with OPKs 🙂 I just try be extra nice on these days too and get him in a good mood haha

Houseelf90 · 15/08/2022 14:36

Sounds like there are a few of us the same with the OPK’s then 😂😂
I was planning on getting the easy @ home ones, does anyone have any experience with these? I don’t want to go all out with the clear blues straight away, obviously if we have no luck 6-12 months down the line then I’m happy to chuck a bit more money at it!

Bananatoast123 · 15/08/2022 14:39

@Houseelf90 I only use the easy home - I like that I can keep better track - didn’t get on with the clear blue but I know other people love them!

Houseelf90 · 15/08/2022 14:52

@Bananatoast123 thank you, I’ll order next week when he’s back at work!

EdinburghGirl1 · 15/08/2022 15:00

@Houseelf90 sorry I use the CB ones which I like. I got a good deal on them for Amazon prime day a month or so ago

Houseelf90 · 15/08/2022 15:03

@EdinburghGirl1 thank you, I’ll keep an eye out for any offers!

DanisEndo · 15/08/2022 15:28

@Houseelf90 I've only ever used the easy@home ones and do find them very straight forward and affordable, like that the app does the 'interpreting' and keeps a log and chart etc. Also affordable enough i dont feel bad doing multiple a day which i think i need to as judging by last time i think i surge peak

Houseelf90 · 15/08/2022 15:31

@DanisEndo thank you! They’re sat ready and waiting in my Amazon basket 😂

SarahShorty · 16/08/2022 07:30

Morning xx CD19 today. DTD last night as LH started to increase, no peak yet. Don't like trying to catch peak and risk missing it. For reference this is cycle 5. Hope everyone is okay xx

EdinburghGirl1 · 16/08/2022 07:45

@SarahShorty morning. Hopefully you get your peak soon I got mine last night. Tested first thing and got flashing smiley (3rd one) then tested again at 5pm and got static. DTD last night and think I'll ovulate today so hopefully manage today as well. BD at the weekend too so know I'm covered although just not feeling that hopeful this month 😔

Bananatoast123 · 16/08/2022 09:29

@EdinburghGirl1 im sorry you’re not feeling hopeful this cycle! I know the feeling!

we’ve got this 🙏🏼 I miscalculated and I’m around 7dpo today not yesterday! Ordered some cheapies as think I need to test it out so I manage my expectations! But I’m not very hopeful either!

how many cycles is this for you? You sound like you’ve got it covered over your fertile window so you never know, only takes 1 good swimmer!

EdinburghGirl1 · 16/08/2022 11:41

@Bananatoast123 glad it's not just me. It's my 3rd cycle so I know it's still early and can take time. It was 4th cycle with my DD with my ex husband. Don't think it helped that at the weekend my OH asked how long it's been since I came off the pill and last night said to me he hadn't really thought about how long it could potentially take and what it might mean if we want another and time isn't on our side (I'm 38 in November) Didn't make me feel particularly great about it. I know it can take time and that I can at least fall pregnant but now can't help worrying about it taking ages. Sorry, total emotional writing there. Fingers crossed it's a lucky month for us both

Jade57 · 16/08/2022 11:50

Hi, I'm hoping someone might have a bit of advice. My last period was 13th July. My cycles are all over the place so I really don't know when my next period would be due. I'm not on birth control but wasn't TTC. We have been using pull out method but had a slip on 31st July. A baby would be a happy surprise and we have actually decided to start trying if I'm not already pregnant. Wednesday 11th when I wiped there was some pink/brown blood. Then a tiny amount on a pad through the day. On the 12th there was only pink staining when I wiped but it was more a slight tint on toilet paper with no mucus. I then had nothing until 14th which I assumed was first day of my period but that only lasted one day. The last 2 weeks I have been so nauseas, my boobs are bigger and visible veins, I'm tired, constant headache, cramps, dizziness. All my tests have been negative even right up to yesterday. I just have a feeling I'm pregnant. I bled for around 7 weeks with my last baby and had an early scan where everything was fine. Google says if you are unsure of period due date you should wait 21 days from unprotected sex before taking a test. Does anyone have any experience of this?

Dreamingof3 · 16/08/2022 12:38

@Jade57 it might be worth seeing if you can get a blood test? The other option really is to just wait and see what happens! Good luck!

Bananatoast123 · 16/08/2022 13:44

@EdinburghGirl1 don’t apologise, I got super emotional the other day about how negative I was feeling about this month! I can’t even imagine how you’re feeling, I’m 27 and I’m concerned how we are on cycle 6 let alone how you feel! But just know it can happen for you and it will for us! Focus on the present time and this TTC for now and worry about if you want another there after once you know that’s what you want! Maybe ask your OH to take that approach too?

I really hope it’s our month! It could be that your body is still adapting off being on the pill? They say you produce that months egg 3 cycles before! I came off the copper coil so I hope we’d have it on our side that we had no hormones involved - I have read that the copper coil inflames the cervix so hopefully my body has been trying to get over that!!

@Jade57 I’d also suggest going to your GP for a blood test like @Dreamingof3 suggested!

PinkButtercups · 16/08/2022 13:59

Hello!

Had my 20 week scan for the twins today and they look absolutely perfect which was a huge relief!

Had a bit of a busy morning in the hospital with scan, bp & urine and another FBC followed by the diabetes midwife then whooping cough vaccine and then my twin consultant. About 4 hours later I got to go home 🤣.

Been put on 2x metformin now as levels were slightly raised!

Just glad the twins are looking good as there was a higher chance of abnormalities with multiples.

Twin 2 was a poser today twin 1 was not having any of it 🤣 little pickles!

EdinburghGirl1 · 16/08/2022 13:59

@Bananatoast123 thank you. Yeah I did say to him we need to focus on this and getting pregnant now. He desperately wants two kids so I suppose it's suddenly dawned on him it could take a while and therefore might be harder for a second. Feels like a lot of pressure sometimes. My body very well might be adapting post pill. If it took 4 cycles last time I know it really would be at least that. It's hard to know how much they really know about getting pregnant isn't it? I mean until I was ttc first time I never realised the odds and all about timings etc

Dreamingof3 · 16/08/2022 14:37

Ahh @PinkButtercups what fab pics! Sounds like a busy morning though 😅

Bananatoast123 · 16/08/2022 15:30

@EdinburghGirl1 yeah I bet it’s hard, and there’s always ways of having help if you need for the second one with your OH! Who knows you might have twins! 🤣

yes I think will the pill too it could be very dependent on how long you were on it etc! They say each TTC can be different!

I know what you mean by how hard it is and how little they know! I was naive coming into it - I thought I’m 27 I won’t take long, but we’ve dtd at the right time for most cycles we’ve tried for and still no-where closer! I always tell my OH we should be doing what we can and he’s not fully getting it yet! He’s finally accepted about cutting down drink and eating well but still doesn’t want me to tell him when the key days are in fear of “pressure”! I know as time goes on he starting to realise but why do they take us to go through cycle after cycle? 🤣 rant over!! I do wonder if I’ve got something up given how much I’ve hit the the fertile windows each month? It’s such a balancing act of saying it’s to do with the odd vs should we go get private tests so we get ahead of knowing if something is wrong!

EdinburghGirl1 · 16/08/2022 16:10

@Bananatoast123 eek twins! I suppose that would settle the how many kids decision lol. Yeah I think every time can be different although some people seem to fall pregnant first time multiple times.

I think so many people are naïve. I certainly was first time round. That's good your OH is starting to get on board as it's not just us woman involved. Any little thing you can do to help is a good thing. I had reflexology the cycle I ended up falling pregnant last time so might try that again if bfn this month. I am with you on the not telling when fertile week is but as you say it can be a bit obvious. I know my ex said it was when we were ttc 😂

They do say it can take up to a year but it's completely up to you. I know the not knowing is awful though so you might feel better having answers either way.

Feeling better after a bit of a rant and a walk earlier. No-one know we are ttc so nice to have MN to let off steam etc. Lets just hope August is a lucky month!

LucyLoopyLu · 16/08/2022 17:31

@PinkButtercups
Oh wow thanks for the update! Nice to hear about your twins. Sounds like a busy morning, v tiring but glad everything is ok with you.
How are you feeling? Hope you're well, not too tired and getting excited now.
Honestly can't believe how fast those weeks have flown by!

Bananatoast123 · 16/08/2022 17:36

@EdinburghGirl1 I’ve heard of twins happening when time isn’t on your side, like an act of nature!

yes I agree, it’s funny how men sometimes don’t realise they can have an impact!! How was reflexology? I’m not sure I can handle someone on my feet… 🤣

i have been giving Swedish massages a go which have been helping with my digestion problems - they’ve basically gone! So I do wonder if it’s helping with fertility too! I’m going to give it until November / December and suggest we get answers early next year if we get that far as that would make us nearly a year then too!

MN always helps to get things off your chest - I’m similar in that I can’t talk to anyone else about this!

SarahShorty · 16/08/2022 19:59

Multiple births, ie twins, triplets etc are more common in the 30s as the ovaries tend to release more than one egg in the run up to menopause. It's those few bursts in fertility before it begins to wain. So even if twins don't run in either side of the family, they can happen. Those scenes of ultrasounds scans where the mother-to-be's jaw drops and the husband/partner faints are so funny.

Tropicana1 · 16/08/2022 20:03

@PinkButtercups lovely update 😊 glad to see all is going well with the twins
