Hi everyone,

I thought I would make a thread for those who are trying to conceive their first child.

I love reading about everyone's journey, but sometimes I just need a space where I can talk to others who are dreaming of their first bundle of joy 💫

I am 31 and on cycle #8. My periods were classed as irregular but since having the coil removed, they seem to have settled and I now have 30-33 day cycles. I threw my OPKs in the bin this month, they were stressing me out and after DTD on my peaks but getting AF's just upset me even more. I am hoping to take a more relaxed approach from now on.

Sending love and hope to everyone on their unique journeys 💖

@Gizzy93 will keep my fingers crossed for you 🤞

Welcome newbies 🙂

I'm 7dpo, feeling fine but time is dragging a little.
I've got a smear test booked for next Tuesday so will test Mon/Tues AM (12/13dpo). I think you're still OK to have your smear in early pregnancy but not 100% so will test beforehand so I can let them know whatever it says.
I don't want to put off getting my smear if I can help it

hi everyone been having a look through your messages, I did post on here a couple of months ago. I had a miscarriage end of July at 4 weeks and am now pregnant again I'm 5 weeks on Saturday! First pregnancy can't lie and say I'm not worried! But the midwife phone call went very well and I have an appointment in 2 weeks, there is the worry of the same happening because it broke me! But my lines on the tests are getting darker every day, I'm very bloated and sicky! Sending baby dust to you all xxx

newbiegreenfingers · 14/09/2022 20:37

@Freespirit98 that is great news!! Fingers crossed all goes smoothly for you.

I think about the women on this thread sometimes and wonder how everyone is doing.

I'm still working on it, but we'll get there in the end

Thank you! I'm over the moon just spending a fortune on tests making sure that line is still there every couple of days :( thank you so much. Me too! It's so hard & such an emotional rollercoaster but we truly are stronger than we think!! Thinking about you and sending you baby dust :)

Hi everyone, I’m brand new! I’ve been TTC for 4months after having had a MC at 11weeks in April this year. I don’t have any children yet, but it’s all I can think about now! I don’t have anyone in my life that I can talk to about this topic- which is sorta lonely- so here I am!🤞🏼

I wanted to ask if there’s anyone here who has ever had , or knows anyone who has ever had a blood clot during implantation bleeding? (I know it’s not common)
My cycles are usually like clockwork, but this month was so different! I had mostly light-ish bleeding for 8days instead of my usual 4. At first I was praying it was implantation bleeding, but then I had one blood clot, so I thought maybe it was a chemical pregnancy.😢
The weird thing is that it’s been a week since it stopped, &for the last few days my breasts are really sore, I’m nauseous in the afternoon, &I’m feeling very tired. It doesn’t make any sense, so I think I’ll POAS tonight &see what it says. I hope it’s positive &everything is okay, but I’m a little scared to be too hopeful right now!

Thank u to anyone who actually read my meandering msg! I’m sorry it was so long!

carsty · 17/09/2022 12:12

hi @HopefulJess , i think there is another post where someone did have a blood clot and was pregnant...i hope you get the bfp when you do the test especially since u seem to be having pregnancy symptoms, all the best to u🤗🤗🤗💪

lbeany · 22/09/2022 12:35

Hi everyone. I've been trying for 6 months now with no luck and like a PP its all I can think about at the moment. I came off OCP about 7-8 months ago and my periods are all over the place, only getting them about every 8-10 weeks. Pre OCP was having them 5-6 weekly. Trying to track ovulation with urine tests - the highest reading I've got is 0.59 labelled as high (easy home strips). Am I even ovulating?

Mortima · 22/09/2022 13:44

@lbeany Do you track your BBT? That would be the best way to confirm ovulation yourself I think. 8 - 10 week cycles sounds very irregular though, so I would go to your GP.

lbeany · 22/09/2022 14:53

@Mortima No, I haven't yet. Is that just a case of buying a thermometer and recording measurements everyday? Or correlate with urine tests? Any particular thermometer recommended by MN for this purpose?

I was giving my body a chance to get used to being off the OCP first but you're right I probably should.. its next to impossible trying to get an appt though when you work FT so no idea how long it will actually take.

newbiegreenfingers · 22/09/2022 15:04

@lbeany I'm the same as you in that I've never had a positive ovulation test, the line gets darker and lighter but never positive. My BBT shows that I do ovulate every cycle though.

I use Natural Cycles to track my BBT. I like it. If you want a referral code for 20% off and a free thermometer let me know (absolutely fine if not though!).

You need a special thermometer that takes your temperature to two decimal places. BBT apps can predict ovulation and confirm when it has happened, but they can't pin point when ovulation will occur before hand.

lbeany · 22/09/2022 20:28

@newbiegreenfingers what is a positive ovulation test though? how is it defined. I think I sometimes ovulate (breast pain / CM changes) but I dont always get it so I'm not sure.

Do I just need any thermometer that can track to 2 decimal places? Whats the benefit of natural cycles?

newbiegreenfingers · 22/09/2022 21:42

A positive ovulation test is when both the test line and the control line are as dark as each other or the test line is darker. I get a light test line and dark control line, then as the days go on the test line gets darker but never as dark as the control line.

Yes any thermometer that will test to 2 decimal places. Natural Cycles helped teach me a lot about my cycle and body, as well as tracking your cycles they have articles on all sorts like cervical mucus testing, self breast examination, ovulation etc. It helps DH and I plan when we DTF as it predicts ovulation, so we just start doing it every other day about a week before the prediction until we can't go anymore!

Anyway something has worked because I got a BFP tonight after over a year of trying!

carsty · 22/09/2022 21:55

@newbiegreenfingers Congrats

lbeany · 22/09/2022 23:56

@newbiegreenfingers amazing, congratulations! Is this #1? Do you mind sharing how long your cycles were?

newbiegreenfingers · 23/09/2022 03:42

@carsty thank you!

@lbeany thank you! Yes first one. My cycles are 26 days, give or take a day. They were more erratic in for about 6 months coming of bc but had settled right down earlier this year.

Mortima · 29/09/2022 07:48

@newbiegreenfingers Congraulations! How exciting 😀

@lbeany Yes, just a thermometer to track to two decimal places...take your temperature upon waking every morning, which is a bit of a pain, but you should then see if you're ovulating if you have a sustained temperature rise afterwards - temp should stay up and then drops just before your period if not pregnant.
I use this one (easy@home): www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0842Q3W7T/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 and then chart it using the Premom app
