TTC #1 - a safe place for first timers 💖

Hi everyone,

I thought I would make a thread for those who are trying to conceive their first child.

I love reading about everyone's journey, but sometimes I just need a space where I can talk to others who are dreaming of their first bundle of joy 💫

I am 31 and on cycle #8. My periods were classed as irregular but since having the coil removed, they seem to have settled and I now have 30-33 day cycles. I threw my OPKs in the bin this month, they were stressing me out and after DTD on my peaks but getting AF's just upset me even more. I am hoping to take a more relaxed approach from now on.

AF is expected on Tuesday (give or take a day). I have been so busy with work recently I have not had time to symptom spot! It is a great feeling to be more relaxed this cycle 😊

But, for some reason, on Monday evening I convinced myself I will never fall pregnant......it left me in a bad mood for the rest of the night! Not sure where it came from. The mind can have some unhelpful thoughts!

How is everyone getting on in their journey?

@SFrancis1 Are you cycles normally quite regular? Not long to wait!
Im due on my period today but no sign yet, this never happens but given that I’ve been ill all month I’m not surprised! Trying to hold out on testing for now

@ChloeN My cycles would range from 30 - 44 days, but since having my coil removed they seem to of settled to 30 - 33 days.

Let us know how you get on with testing tomorrow. Do you only test when AF is late? Are you quite regular? I am in 2 minds about testing. I get my hopes up if AF does not arrive on the day my app predicted, but I know I am always give or take a day. I have thought about testing to save the disappointment when I am late, but at the same time, I only want to test when I am really late and there is a chance I am expecting.......not sure if any of that makes sense 😂

@LucyLoopyLu lol same here about hubby wanting kids but not having such urgency as myself..sorry bout the discomfort your experiencing, but i think its good the running your doing...i kept telling myself im gonna be more physically active and never managed to be consistent...exercise is so important for overall health especially when trying to conceive

@carsty aw thanks it's not too bad to be fair just unusual for me. The running is good, I like being a bit fitter, as I go through phases when I don't do much, but every day is too much! I'd rather do 3 or 4 runs a week tops which I will be going back to straight away once we hit July 😂 I'm hoping once I drop back down to having more rest days I will feel better for pushing myself this month though. I used to do a lot of gym classes before covid, I'm an awful runner and very slow but it's better than nothing!

@SFrancis1 this is our first month ttc so never had this situation before! I’ve had a 28 day cycle every month for at least the last year and always start by midday, I’ve had period cramps and back pain though so im expecting it anytime soon, just trying not to get my hopes up for every hour that passes that it doesn’t!

I'm about to enter the TWW, in theory, but as I'm not tracking with anything and just judging by CM it's anyone's guess right now! Period due on 5th July, though, so I would expect to ovulate around now. I wouldn't say I'm relaxed at the moment, but I know I'll be busy with work for the next few weeks too. Sadly, that only makes me want to get pregnant more!

I often find myself feeling pretty negative about TTC. After my mc in January, I've rather stupidly become really superstitious about how many magpies I see, after that old rhyme. I'm not usually a superstitious person, but now seeing just the one magpie puts me into that negative frame of mind 🙄 I need to find a good way to shake it...

@simplythequest it's so foolish but I was once told when I see a single magpie to ask "hi mr magpie, how's mrs magpie?" and it stops any badluck or sorrow as they say. I know its probably absolutely ridiculous to anyone who reads this 🙈 and I'm not a superstitious kind of person but everytime I see one I say it and go about my day.
So sorry to hear about January, I hope the TWW goes quickly and that you have great news at the end of it!!

I caved and tested this morning, I’m in actual disbelief!! For anyone in the 2WW I had a slight implantation bleed, and then backache and period cramps 3 days before my expected period!

I am in my first cycle ttc baby number 1! AF is now one day late!!! (I’m usually early if anything) I had period type cramps form around 3 DPO until yesterday when AF was due… today no cramps. Been super busy the last few days with my sisters wedding so I’ll test this afternoon or in the morning tomorrow if AF doesn’t show… 🤞🏽

I did a test and I am in shock! Feel so blessed 🙏🏽 I know it’s very early days and anything can happen but keeping everything crossed that all will be okay. 🥰 think I’m approx 12/13 DPO.

Wow, so happy to see all the positive tests 😍😍😍
I’m currently in the middle of the TWW, 7 dpo. I’ve actually been able to relax a little bit more than usual, so that’s nice. It’s midsummer here in Sweden, a very important weekend of celebration so it takes my mind of the TWW. I’m testing on Wednesday morning. I’ve been having very “prominent” nipples for a few days and I felt a bit nauseous yesterday but I know it’s way to early to have any symptoms so I try to not read into it too much. But still, I can’t help it, I do feel a bit hopeful!

hi all its kinda odd as ive not long come off my period and on cd7 but already having ewcm, i wonder if ill ovulate early this cycle and perhaps my cycle is getting shorter...as anyone ever had this before?

@Anna531 I've heard people say that to them before. I just wish I wasn't being so irrational to begin with! TTC does strange things to people, I guess 🙄

This must be a lucky thread because I have also got my BFP! Could not have been more surprised! Apart from my period not showing up I don’t think anything was different than my usual cycle apart from maybe my boobs getting a bit sore and heavy a little later than usual.

Good luck to everyone still on the tww and continuing to try. Rooting for you all that it moves quickly and you also see BFPs soon.
