Hi everyone,

I thought I would make a thread for those who are trying to conceive their first child.

I love reading about everyone's journey, but sometimes I just need a space where I can talk to others who are dreaming of their first bundle of joy 💫

I am 31 and on cycle #8. My periods were classed as irregular but since having the coil removed, they seem to have settled and I now have 30-33 day cycles. I threw my OPKs in the bin this month, they were stressing me out and after DTD on my peaks but getting AF's just upset me even more. I am hoping to take a more relaxed approach from now on.

Sending love and hope to everyone on their unique journeys 💖

I am pretty sure I’m out as well for this month, it’s so deflating. I tried to be relaxed this month and not track and not POAS before AF was due as I’ve found this more upsetting previously. I was due for AF to arrive anytime from Thursday, it’s now Saturday so I was getting excited this morning, frantically searching threads for success stories for women with ‘no symptoms’ in early pregnancy as I don’t feel any different. This afternoon I have started spotting and have some mild cramping so think AF will be here by tomorrow which will be day 27 (usually I have 24-26 day cycles with the occasional 27 day 1-2 x per year). Does anyone else just feel gutted when AF arrives?

Sorry to hear that... it's honestly the most deflating thing ever. It never gets any easier. There will always be that tiny glimmer of hope in the back of your head and for it to be snatched away is just gutting. Sending love xx

@db91 if you don’t already could you start tracking your cycle with opk or bbt? Then dtd just before and after. You never know you might ovulate earlier or later.

Been using OPK's to track my ovulation. He leaves early Thursday and will be back early Tuesday. Ovulation is likely to be Sunday 🙈 I think for me I just need to tell myself I'm not TTC anymore - mentally it's probably the best way to deal with it

Ellswells3 · 19/06/2022 12:26

@Sunshine3295 thank you - it really is a rollercoaster. I’ve just done a test as AF still hasn’t come just spotting and it’s a BFP on a clear blue digital 1-2 weeks! I’m now so confused but can reassure anyone that it doesn’t matter if you have no symptoms in TWW or mild spotting, cramping - it doesn’t mean you’re out! I have some complications with my health so not going to get too ahead of myself yet, will get GP to refer me to EPAU tomorrow (this was their plan) and I am on aspirin starting.. well now!

Oh wow!!!! That's amazing! I have everything crossed for you 🤞🏼🤞🏼 just goes to show doesn't it! Super happy for you! ❤️

LucyLoopyLu · 19/06/2022 14:06

@carsty sorry you got your AF too... how are you feeling now?

@Loouloo good to know I'm not the only one! What cycle are you on now?

@SFrancis1 all good now, I was disappointed but not as bad as could have been actually. Once I had had a good night's sleep I felt better. We've also been busy this weekend and got out and about for work on Thursday so that has taken my mind off it. I also deleted social media for a few days so it has been nice to not have as much baby stuff in my face all the time.

@Gizzy93 hope you're ok ☹️

SFrancis1 · 19/06/2022 14:11

@Ellswells3 Congratulations 🎉 my sister found out she was expecting at 4 months, she was still having periods. I also knew someone of went to the GP after struggling to tone her stomach up, she was 7 months pregnant. Had no symptoms. Her bump appeared within 48 hours after the appointment! It is crazy what our bodies can do.

@LucyLoopyLu glad you have managed to have a good weekend. Having a break from social media was a good call. My phone definitely knows we are TTC and every other advert is now linked to pregnancies 🤦‍♀️ it is not ideal!

Congratulations @Ellswells3 🎊 😁 wonderful news!
I am 5+1 today and just got my 3+ on a clear blue (only did it because I was a bit worried I haven't had symptoms and wanted to see if the hcg had gone up since I last did one a few days ago).
I feel like I've paid a good 20% of clear blue's overheads this month with all the stuff I've been buying 😅🙈

LucyLoopyLu · 19/06/2022 15:29

@Ellswells3 @drf congratulations both! How exciting

@SFrancis1 it's so annoying isn't it, I do like looking at some "mum content" but when you've just got your period or in the TWW it's just a constant reminder you're not there yet

Ellswells3 · 19/06/2022 16:46

Thank you so much everyone!! Hope the BFPs continue for everyone else.
Wishing you all the best of luck xx

carsty · 19/06/2022 18:24

Loouloo · 19/06/2022 19:32

@LucyLoopyLu I’m on cycle #6.

Feeling slightly positive, currently in the TWW, testing on 13 dpo this cycle because I’m going away with work. It will either be a happy trip or a very sad one

LolaGarden · 19/06/2022 20:41

Unfortunately I’ve lost my pregnancy. I am so sad.

Thank you @SFrancis1 I'm alright. Glad the waiting is over and we can try again in a couple of weeks

Aimee1995 · 22/06/2022 09:18

Having a bad few days. Serious nausea and upset stomach. I have been sent home from work for 2 days off and was asked if I could be pregnant. Was so hard because I am so sure its a bug, I am only 8DPO so doubt it is pregnancy symptoms. But being asked outright was so difficult, I am not really sure why but ai found it really hard

LucyLoopyLu · 22/06/2022 12:18

@Aimee1995 hope you're ok, and can get some rest today. Why would work ask you if you're pregnant? Seems out of order to me. Was this in a formal context (e.g. for health and safety if you work in a factory etc.) or just a random question from colleague / boss?
You're not under any obligation to tell them if you're TTC or if you are in early pregnancy. You have to notify of your intention to take maternity leave but not until 15 full weeks prior to your due date - a long way off even if you are pregnant!

Loouloo · 22/06/2022 13:06

@Aimee1995 I hope you feel better soon! 8dpo seem very early for any pregnancy symptoms, but it’s not impossible. However it was not an okay question from work, regardless if it was made with your well-being in mind or not. As @LucyLoopyLu said, you’re under no obligation to tell them whatsoever

Aimee1995 · 22/06/2022 13:50

@Loouloo @LucyLoopyLu I think he was asking as a friend rather than a colleague but I just panicked and said "I hope not" when actually all I want is it to be true! I really don't want others knowing we are TTC because it's dressing me out enough already without questions.

Bookworm9319 · 22/06/2022 15:03

Hi all! I’m 28 and we are about to embark on our TTC journey. I’m on my period just now and then we will start trying this cycle. I’m so excited but trying to stay casual about it and not put too much pressure or expectation on it. I had my coil removed in January in preparation and had irregular cycles to begin with but these have calmed down a bit and I seem to ovulate between day 16-18 (using natural cycles to track). So great to have a supportive place like this to be part of!

carsty · 23/06/2022 09:18

@Anna531 @Bookworm9319 Welcome to you both I hope your journey with ttc will be a good one. I am currently day 6/7 in my cycle, period just ended so will hopefully try dtd again soon..my husband is not necessarily in the know of me intentionally ttc but he is aware i do want a baby asap as were both in our 30s

LucyLoopyLu · 23/06/2022 12:31

Good luck @carsty I'm trying to keep the more intentional scheming to myself for now too. My husband wants kids too but he just doesn't have the sense of urgency that I do.

Welcome to the newcomers too 🙂

I'm CD8 and might start OPKs at the weekend. Currently got a mild bit of thrush or maybe just chafing which is annoying, not ideal for when you want to DTD 😑 hoping it will have cleared up by next week.
I've been doing a running challenge (100 miles in June) and I think it's from all the exercise (I would never usually run every day!).
Sorry if TMI 😂
