@Minster2012 apparently didn't learn from the last time and is once again letting me loose behind the wheel whilst she enjoys her well earned rest! You can follow her on Instagram (Minstermusings) where lots of passengers and ex-passengers have their own TTC or normal accounts too (just be careful not to out anyone on their non-TTC accounts!)

We have had over 100 BFPs on this thread since @Minster2012 took over including 2 on the last thread so we need to keep our lucky run going, no slacking ladies!

Anything goes and NOTHING is TMI on this bus! Whether you're doing it the old fashioned way or with some help from science, we're all waiting for those 2 pink lines and are here to support each other and try to stay (somewhat) sane along the way

@pennysays def think pushing the fertility route is the right thing with 4 cycles per year

@Somatronic follicle scan today? 🤞🏻🤞🏻good luck!

pennysays · 08/04/2022 10:03

Thanks for caring everyone @dawnbird and @Minster2012. It’s so lonely sometimes isn’t it and DP seems to be in no hurry!

Is there a version where we skip clomid and move straight to IUI or
IVF? We’ll be going private if that helps.

Somatronic · 08/04/2022 10:10

@pennysays if you're going private I'd imagine skipping clomid would be possible? I wasted 6 months on that. I suppose it had to be done but they never identified a problem with ovulation for me so it seems like a bit of a waste now looking back.

@minster2012 yes had my scan today. 11 follicles which is fewer than I'd hoped for but can't complain I suppose.

Minster2012 · 08/04/2022 13:20

I think 11 follicles is great @Somatronic, there could be more sneak up definitely! When's the next scan?

@pennysays when we did private ivf my consultant said clomid was basically pointless for me (age 37) & would likely just be wasting time & money so it can def be possible to just do the ivf

pennysays · 08/04/2022 16:17

Thanks @Somatronic and @Minster2012 that’s really helpful. I’m 37 in a couple of months and i don’t want to fanny around with clomid really.

Can I ask a random question about ivf… what is the scenario where they put two embryos inside you and you get twins? Why does that happen sometimes and not others?

Somatronic · 08/04/2022 16:28

@Minster2012 thanks! Hopefully I'll end up with a good amount of eggs, I was just a little surprised and the nurse went checking my AMH and other scans etc so despite her happy-clappy routine she clearly didn't think it was great either. My next scan is on Monday.

@pennysays do you mean why do they transfer 2 embryos sometimes and only 1 other times? My clinic will only transfer 2 when you're over a certain age I think. They try to avoid twins at all costs because of increased risks in pregnancy, and of course implanting one embryo could still result in twins so I guess the idea is to avoid triplets and quads. I think if the embryos are lower grade some clinics will transfer 2, especially in an older patient, with the hope that one will take.

Minster2012 · 08/04/2022 16:45

@pennysays I'd be inclined to think with such long cycles then clomid wouldn't really help much & add to stress so they may think that way anyway. I completely agree with @Somatronic on the 2 embryos. HEFA who govern IVF clinics have quite a strict policy now on single embryo transfer in most cases as transfer to "live births" there's not much difference & my clinic will only transfer 2 if you are over 36 & have already had a failed round, or we got the option each time we tried with me cos I only got few embryos so because The stats say that now it only increases your chances of a "single live birth" by around 10% or even less they still offered me the choice but the increase in likelihood of twins is closer to 20% which is more dangerous. So it's a choice to closely discuss with clinics. Some clinics do go on grading too, mine didn't even discuss grading until transfer. We chose to go one by one each time we did a frozen transfer (I'm high risk anyway) but had we gone onto do our new planned fresh cycle of ivf last April then we agreed if we got 2 or more embryos we'd put them both in as we were going to do it as our last shot. It does vary clinic to clinic though

Minster2012 · 08/04/2022 16:46

@Somatronic each step can be a high or low it's really tough but focus on those ones that are growing & gonna be ripe for the picking ❤️

Sunbird24 · 08/04/2022 19:42

@pennysays as I was 42+ my clinic gave me the choice, once they were happy I knew the risks. So of my 4 transfers I’ve had 2 singles and 2 doubles. All the embryos implanted except for one of the doubles where only one did.

polkadotpixie · 09/04/2022 08:51

@Somatronic 11 follicles sounds great to me. When I spoke to the fertility nurse last week she said 4-8 each side is what they look for so 11 sounds perfect!

I'm 9dpo. My chart is the best it's been in months and looks very much like my chart from my MC last August. Trying not to be too hopeful though 😂 Having my usual pre-AF cramps (thanks Endo) but I also had them both times I've been pregnant so I guess they don't mean much either way!

How is everyone else doing? @lakejupiter, we're normally cycle buddies, whereabouts are you in your cycle?

I am home ladies, I’ll pop in every so often

pennysays · 09/04/2022 23:20

Thanks @Sunbird24 @Somatronic and @Minster2012 that’s really helpful. I’m getting ahead of myself.

@polkadotpixie ohh great chart, can we see it again tomorrow?

Yea I’ve been wondering where @lakejupiter is.

I have no idea where I am in my cycle because my testing has been erratic but I’m emotional! Went to see my friends new baby - the one who was tried for and then conceived and then born in the time it has taken me to get absolutely no where. So repressed everything while I was there and then had a big cry. Gah.

BUT you lot give me such inspiration! You really help me stay positive.

@Franklydear I hope your visit to your mum was ok.

polkadotpixie · 10/04/2022 08:32

Hope you had a lovely trip back home @Franklydear

BFN and a temp drop for me today at 10dpo 😩 AF should be here on Tuesday but I think it might be sooner. I have to call the fertility clinic on CD1 to book my HyCoSy...dreading it as I had a HSG when TTC DS and it was pretty awful 😣

OP posts:
Franklydear · 10/04/2022 10:28

Thank you all, Dh surprised me/and ds, he book the airport hotel but he found an offer and we had a suit, you know bedroom separate and living room/dining room with massive flat tv on the wall, extra bed in there for ds so we had some privacy too, I only found out when I checking and the ‘ambassador’ told me!
Mum and dad in law are recovering well from covid, and actually much better than we expected, weather is a bit pants but, it’ll do, we are going to be mostly home, we don’t have a car but one brother in law said we can still his, as my brother was going to drive me around but has COVID, day 6 and still positive, one of the kids has it too, so we are seeing this side of the family first and will spend more time in the other once they are recovered

Somatronic · 10/04/2022 12:10

@polkadotpixie I think HSG is meant to be harder going than the Hycosy? I had a Hycosy last year and it was fine. It was a sharp pain for maybe a minute and then it was over. For context, I forgot to take painkillers beforehand and I can just about tolerate a smear test so you should be fine! And thanks for the reassurance about my follicles!

@Franklydear enjoy your holiday and the lovely suite! I hope all the family recovers soon from covid x.

Dawnbird · 11/04/2022 05:34

Coming up on 8 months TTC now for us. Hoping for a nice, normal (34~ day) cycle this month.

CD5, any advice from those who've had long/varying cycles when it comes to OPKs? Is it too late if I wait for EWCM and start doing them then?

Dawnbird · 11/04/2022 05:56

Oh and we've managed to escape covid so far too, despite it ripping through our area.

DS11 won a chromebook when he got his second vaccination on Sunday, he was bouncing off the walls excited.

Franklydear · 11/04/2022 09:59

@Dawnbird that’s fantastic for ds, I find hard the guess the ovulation window game and my cycles are not so long in comparative but the range is enough for me

I forgot to bring a handbag🙄 so making a very basic one with the little yarn that I brought, I don’t want to carry my backpack, empty everywhere

Dawnbird · 11/04/2022 11:38

@Franklydear if you need an -excuse- to get a new bag... I have to say the new Knitpro ones are fantastic. I love mine!

Franklydear · 11/04/2022 11:56

@Dawnbird I am in Spain and I really didn’t want to go shopping, I normally make my bags, but more carefully, so have way too many, I just crochet a very basic crossbody bag, it’ll do, picture on insta

pennysays · 11/04/2022 23:11

@Franklydear you are a knitting ninja! No purse? No problem! I’ll just knit one up. So cool.

@Dawnbird I am no EWCM expert at all. I really don’t get very much. But I am an irregular cycle haver so I use the cheap opks and I start weeing on them about cd20 because I know I will never ovulate before then. Obviously on day 52, I’m completely over weeing on sticks. Over the past few years I’ve learned to spot other signs, a spike in horniness is normally the one that tells me it is coming. Do you track you cycles?

@Somatronic any updates from the scan today?

@BellatrixK how are you getting on?!

@polkadotpixie what’s the scan for? I’m sorry about AF coming. But yes onwards to the clinic.

@Sunbird24 thanks for sharing your experiences. How are you getting on?

40ttc · 11/04/2022 23:22

@somatronic 11 follicles is good! And it only takes one so fingers crossed Smile
@pennysays I didn't get on with clomid at all didn't do a damn thing either my eggs pop out ever month they are just old and knackered! (nothing a shed loads supplements can't solve!) Hmm I had less side effects with the ivf injectables than the clomid too. Apart from age some of our problem is actually dp sperm motility so clomid really should never have been offered we got a new consultant and he said it was old school thinking and that they needed to treat the actual problems now on shed loads of supplements for 3 months and last bash at ivf having scan tomorrow as he says he doesn't like surprises! So hopefully there won't be any! Fingers crossed they let you skip straight to the ivf!

pennysays · 12/04/2022 08:18

Ohhh @40ttc what supplements are you taking and what are they looking at in the scan? Have you had ivf before?

Somatronic · 12/04/2022 09:21

@40ttc have you a scan today? Best of luck with it. I found Clomid 100 times harder going than the IVF stims too, but when they changed to letrozole it was fine, other than being completely pointless as I already ovulate.

@pennysays yes I had the scan yesterday. 10 follicles looking good, lining etc is looking good so I'm taking the trigger shot tonight I think and then egg collection on Thursday morning. Eek!

Sausage1990 · 12/04/2022 11:24

Hi ladies it's me again and I'm here to share that I'm officially back on the TTC bus!!!

Well - we're not TRYING trying but we're no longer preventing. So we are TTC but not proactively if you know what I mean. As in, I'm not using opk tests, not timing sex, I'm not doing any other tracking other than casually keeping an eye on my CM, but I'm taking my folic acid and my Ovum vitamin supplements, and not using protection soooo... it could happen 😉

I'm glad to be back with you properly this time, and looking forward to catching up with you all. I'll admit that I've lost track of everyone's journeys but I'll endeavour to catch up.

I'm going to go back to the beginning of this thread to read how things have been recently but... How are you all? Xx
