Starting Clomid tomorrow!

TTC number 2 and currently starting cycle 16. We are about to start Clomid and I wondered if anyone had any advice or tips? Just not sure what to expect with it.
We currently have no known issues, partners SA is ok, my bloods are ok and my HyCoSy came back clear.
Unsure on why we have been given Clomid but willing to give anything a try right now!

I'm on my first round :) just got bloods done today to see if I ovulated! I took mine at night because the side effects can be hard 🤣 good luck!

naevo · 17/02/2022 14:01

@xoJellyBean ohh, good luck and fingers crossed it's worked for you. How have you felt on them? I'm worried about being overly hormonal as I'm quite bad anyway!

I've read about taking them at night to sleep through most the symptoms. Think I'll go straight for that one, thank you!

Please Let me know how you get on- I'm just waiting for my period to start and then will be taking chlomid for the first time. Been trying for 22 months Sad

naevo · 20/02/2022 13:00

@TopSecret99 well, I'm due to start it today now as what I thought was the start of AF was just spotting! AF started properly yesterday so I will definitely let you know how I get on with Clomid! I'm so sorry you've been trying for 22 months, I really hope Clomid brings us some BFP! X

My period has started this morning so I'll be starting tomorrow! Fancy buddying through it? Smile

naevo · 21/02/2022 14:25

@TopSecret99 Absolutely 😊 I took my first tablet last night at 6pm, so far so good! No symptoms from it yet. Just waiting for something to hit me. Trying to stay in high spirits which as we know can be so difficult this far in.

TopSecret99 · 21/02/2022 14:32

Aww amazing news that no symptoms so far! I've read about dizziness so was thinking will take at night time so I sleep through any!

Yes very hard to stay positive but we got this girl!! DaffodilDaffodil and it will all be worth the wait in the end Grin xx

naevo · 22/02/2022 19:48

@TopSecret99 yes dizziness is something I was worried about too! Fingers crossed all seems well so far, just tender boobs which is unusual this time in my cycle. Have you taken your first yet? Just had my baseline scan this afternoon, showing 3 follicles! Having another next Monday to see if there's any progress. Are you having follicle tracking scans? I'm not sure what the norm is!?

OP posts:
TopSecret99 · 22/02/2022 20:08

Ooohh exciting about the scan! No I got mine through the nhs they don't do scanning, not in my area anyways ☹️ so will be doing it blind really!
Yes took my first a few hours ago! All good so far but I know it's very early haha!
Let me know how your scan goes x

pinkysmum · 22/02/2022 20:26

I took clomid 18 and 20 years ago and I have 2 handsome sons to show for it.
It's a long time ago now - but I don't remember having any side effects.
If I remember rightly it didn't work for a few months, then they upped my dose and I fell pregnant straight away. With the second one they started me on the same lower dose and I was convinced it wasn't going to work as before, but I fell pregnant the first month.
Hope it works for you - it certainly did for me.

This makes me feel so much more positive! Thank you for sharing DaffodilSmile

naevo · 23/02/2022 11:33

@TopSecret99 how are you feeling today? I've heard that most don't scan, my consultant advised just one cycle if I wanted to, I'm having to pay private so definitely won't be paying for scans next cycle! It was very interesting though!

@pinkysmum that's amazing 😊 thanks for sharing, I love to hear success stories. Keeps our hopes up!

What do they tell you from the scan?

I'm doing good, 2nd tablet taken earlier and still feel normal so far! X

EMM01 · 23/02/2022 22:48

I literally posted on another thread about clomid and then seen this one lol Blush
I have been prescribed 50 mg clomid as I have bad PCOS, and been given it as a shot in the dark as we wait for IVF on nhs... will be a long wait so worth trying.
I started taking it last week (I'm now CD8) and it gave me a thumping constant headache, nausea sometimes and I felt down in the dumps as well. Feel a lot better now first dose finished!
I've a scan on Friday to track follicles so will see how it goes.

TopSecret99 · 24/02/2022 09:43

Aww Emm sorry you're in the chlomid club but welcome! Daffodillet us know how you get on with your scan.
It's funny how come people get symptoms and others don't. I've only been taking 2 days so maybe too early to tell.
I feel your pain re the NHS waiting list Sad we are still waiting on our appointment for us to go ON the list, it's soul destroying at times. But we are in this together and fingers crossed chlomid does its job and brings us our babies Smile x

naevo · 24/02/2022 10:39

@TopSecret99 I think they just keep an eye on the follicles, see how many (if any) will release eggs and also keep an eye on your lining as Clomid can thin it. AF is very light for me so can't afford it any thinner!

@EMM01 hey, so sorry to hear your in this club too and sorry your having a bit of a rough time with Clomid! I think it may have given me a headache too but I managed to sleep it off. Good luck on Friday and let us know how you get on 🤞🏼 fingers crossed we all get our Clomid babies.

@TopSecret99 @EMM01 how are you ladies doing? Anyone near the fertile window yet? I'm so bored of waiting around for mine to come, it's dragging this time!

OP posts:
EMM01 · 27/02/2022 11:55

@naevo Im in the window now I think Wink But still hard to know as my cycles have a mind of their own. Had my follicle tracking scan on Friday and all went well!! Looks good in there for the first time ever! Clomid has worked well. Dr said lining was perfect, which was good as clomid can thin it, and I have at least 3 good follicles, with one dominant. Dr just advised to dtd every other day now until my day 21 blood test, and after as well if it shows no ovulation, to be sure. Not getting my hopes up too much, but it's great to hear my body is actually acting as it should do

naevo · 28/02/2022 08:34

@EMM01 that's great news! So glad Clomid is doing its job for you! Fingers tightly crossed for you. I've got a scan later on today, hoping for some good sized follicles and a nice thick lining 🤞🏼 I don't know about you but this cycle is definitely dragging for than any other cycle!

OP posts:
naevo · 28/02/2022 19:18

So at my scan they said I have 1 large follicle that's measuring 23mm. I'm only on day 10 so got to have another scan on Friday (day 14) to see what's happening. My lining is only 7mm too which is quite thin. Just worried and over thinking everything now, my consultant didn't really tell me what this really means.

OP posts:
TopSecret99 · 28/02/2022 20:39

@naevo try not to worry- I know it's easier said than done but if you will find out more Friday then anything could happen between now and then! Why do they never give you all the info and be clear about these things? So frustrating. Hope your ok x

naevo · 28/02/2022 22:30

@TopSecret99 thank you, my husband has said the same. I just need to wait and see. I'm feeling a lot better now, bit of time and scanning the internet! Hope you're getting on ok too X

OP posts:
TopSecret99 · 01/03/2022 07:53

Ahh good, glad you're feeling better Smile

Nothing to report my end, CD9 today so the fun starts tomorrow! Haha! Grin

EMM01 · 01/03/2022 11:21

@naevo Yes try not to worry..... a lot can change in there overnight let alone a few days! Your dominant follicle sounds like a great size. I was the same, my consultant didn't tell me the measurements so I've no idea what size mine were, only said they were progressing well. No estimation of when ovulation would be likely to happen either and I wasn't offered any further scans, just waiting for the day 21 blood test now. I felt happy at the time of the scan but started to question things on the way home. Wish I had gotten more information and the sizes! Hard to think of questions at the time, especially when new to these procedures. All this waiting gives us too much time to overthink everything! I can think of little else at the moment and my DP is the same

TopSecret99 · 08/03/2022 11:27

Hey girls how are we all getting on? Nothing to report on my end, still in the fertile window and haven't noticed anything different from taking chlomid so far. Hope you're all well xx
