Soooo....@Minster2012 is letting the lunatics take over the asylum as she's handing over the driving seat to the passengers and having a well deserved rest after driving us around since June 2020!

Hi everyone I’m here! Gearing up for another round… irregular cycles so lord knows when I will ovulate so I’ll just keep passing on sticks and hoping for the best.
In the meantime waiting waiting waiting for our referral to the fertility clinic. Waiting a week to talk to doctor about my blood and urine tests… Wednesday I’ll find out. DP preparing himself for the sperm analysis. Has anyone seen that sperm donation episode of Peep Show? “Hello queenie…” 😂

@BellatrixK if your cycles are regular then digital ones will be fine. But expensive. I just used internet cheapies dip sticks… order 100 yesterday because that’s my life. You become an expert at reading them.

@lakejupiter I’m sure you’re already an expert, and @Minster2012 definitely is but just have a read up about uterus + sperm physiology. I read an article which said that when the first sperm are received then the cervix closes to new sperm… worth considering before you dedicate hours to sloshing sperm around.

@pennysays oh thanks for this. Not sure I totally understand though! As in the first sperm per attempt or the first sperm of an entire cycle? Will do a google.

I ended up meeting an old friend and her partner (who I've only met once before, briefly, as they live in Asia) on Friday and having 3 unplanned glasses of wine on an empty stomach.

Anyway I ended up talking about my infertility woes at length including complaining about friends of mine who became pregnant after trying once. I apologised for oversharing at the time and they told me not to be silly etc. I have been fighting the urge to send pathetic apologetic texts to her again about it, even though I already apologised, I didn't do anything bad as such, and I need to stop being such a worrier. I haven't met a single friend since December 21st (actually no, I had one window visit from 1 friend when I was isolating) because that's when Covid hit and I've worked from home since then so I think it was a rush of seeing a friendly face after so long. Unlike most of my friends she has no kids and thinks she might have similar problems but hasn't started trying yet so I blabbed.

Good grief. My own head causes me so much hassle 🙄 I wish I could escape it sometimes.

Well it's a bit rude to the other sperm if your cervix just goes "this'll do" and shuts down for the others @pennysays @lakejupiter 😜🤪

@Somatronic I don't think you have anything to apologise for and that's the kind of thinking that makes infertility a taboo subject. When we had friends over the other week one of our friends (male) said "we though oh let's try for kids, thought it might take a while but it happened so quickly we were like hmmmm thought we'd have longer having fun" and I said "well it's better that way than trying for years and it becoming all you can think about & a chore" 🤨why is it better for him to say that than me to say the opposite? If you find a way to escape your head then let us know the secret 😊

@Minster2012 @lakejupiter yeah now I have said it out loud... it doesn't sound right! I'll see if I can find a source. Far be for me to be the person spreading biological hokum on the internet.

So it's not looking that great so far 😕 according to the flo app today is ovulation day but the tests have gone down instead of up 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Somatronic I definitely agree with @Minster2012. The more things are talked about, the better. I casually mentioned to my SIL today that we’d had losses. She and my brother had two accidental children, so I’m sure she’s won’t understand it, but the conversation was close to this and I really don’t think it is something that should be a secret or taboo. Definitely no embarrassment needed!

I can’t really advise @LoveQ, but just keep DTD to cover just in case?

AF showed up for me today, so I’m absolutely miserable. However, we have just been for a lovely, if cold, dog walk and we are at my DH’s parents’ for tea. There are lovely and we’re getting a take away curry!

@Somatronic in the open is best, one of my friends, a couple of years ago, was clearly unhappy, didn’t want to say why, managed to get it out of her and was very relief when I told her I had losses too, and was able to support her, I hope one day she can do the same for another woman,
One bit of good news, my mil is finally getting better after a Xmas in and out of hospital, she’s 86 so...

Sometimes you have to be the brave one and talk about it first @Somatronic. I have a couple of friends really going through the mill at the moment - one of them is much more open than the other and that's because one of the husbands views it all as a personal failure and would be devastated if anyone knew they were looking into IVF - so it might be because of that she didn't share back.

@lakejupiter Welcome aboard. How do you get on with the Ferti-lily? I have one but can barely get it in! I think I ended up scooping the sperm away from my cervix due to my poor attempt which is obviously not ideal!

@Minster2012 Your BFP chart always gives me hope. I totally write myself off once my temp starts to drop so it's nice to see it's not always bad news

@blackcurrantqueen Good luck for tomorrow! Have you had a c section before? DS was born by semi-emergency c section (failed induction so not really an emergency but not an elective) and I had a really good experience and straightforward recovery even though I had some complications during surgery. I would 100% choose an ELCS if there is a next time

@pennysays Get playing that xylophone tonight! I am definitely not, I'm full of cold and can't be arsed so glad I'm in the TWW and don't have to bother!

@LoveQ CD10 is early for ovulation unless you have short cycles so I wouldn't worry at all at this point. Apps just predict ovulation based on an algorithm anyway so I'd trust the OPKs over the app

@Somatronic I hope opening up was cathartic for you. I've been thinking about being more open myself. It takes a toll keeping it to myself. DH is super chilled about it and my sister only has to see a 🍆 and she's pregnant so it can be really lonely

5dpo here. Temp high but I'm under the weather so I think it's that, my boobs have stopped hurting so I assume progesterone is dropping early again and it'll be another short luteal phase this cycle after last month's 12 day miracle! I've attended a couple of virtual open evenings for the local fertility clinics and I think I'm going to get the ball rolling if this cycle is a bust. I'm convinced I'm peri menopausal and don't want to waste time. Having a bit of a pity party tbh 😭

@pennysays @lakejupiter the egg stops any more sperm entering, once one has got through and fertilised? But the cervix only closes after the FW ends?
@LoveQ apps only work on past data and algorithms, they aren't the oracle. So don't base things on it, just use it as a guide. Your body's signs and the opks (temping too if you do it) will be more correct. So don't stop yet!
