First timers, TTC. Safe space for brain dumps...

Hi everyone!

This thread may or may not contain questions, I've mainly started it to be my brain dump safe space but in an excited way, not a bad way...

Me (30) and my SO (34) have decided to take the leap and start TTC! We have both wanted children for a while but just knew the timing wasn't right for either of us until now. For me, any time I see a baby or even baby clothes recently my heart aches for it to be my turn. I've never really had that strong feeling before.

The reason behind this 'safe space' is that we have agreed not to tell anyone we are TTC. We just want to avoid any pressure or disappointment if things don't go to plan, etc.

For context, I am the youngest of 5, the only girl the only one of my siblings without children.
SO is the oldest of 2, his brother has a child who lives with BM away from here so isn't really seen much by grandparents.

Both families are great and would only want the best for us but I personally don't want to feel any sort or pressure at all (intended or not) from either side.

So, we start our journey, we are on cycle 1 SWI, not expecting anything to happen this cycle and trying not to turn in to a crazy lady about TTC Smile

If anyone else needs a brain dump safe space, feel free to join me here Smilex

@ECA142 ahhh I see it! Are you going to test again tomorrow? So exciting!

rcal1988 · 08/01/2022 11:23

@ECA142 wow congrats!! Can definitely see that line. Was that the only symptom you had?

ECA142 · 08/01/2022 12:29

@HMFx @WildePanda thank you so much. It still hasn't really sunk in I think because I was trying to make sure I was prepared for the disappointment. I just stared at it for ages!
@rcal1988 my first symptom was gas! Haha then I noticed I was more tired than usual. I went to my usual PT session on Thursday and felt tired during that and usually I'm so pumped up with the exercise I don't feel tired till I get home. Needless to say I think that was my last PT session for a while. I will be switching to walking on the treadmill and spin bike now. The last and most obvious symptom for me was my nipples! They are bigger, darker and want to stand to attention all the time haha. I know it's cold but seriously I could see them through my bra, t-shirt and fleece this week! I had the usual spots, slight cramps and sore boobs of PMS so wasn't completely convinced but my SO didn't sleep a wink last night as he is also rather excited about this 2ww and so I did the test for him more than me I think. I'm going to do another early test Monday and then the digital on the day after AF should have arrived.

Hold on in there ladies. Oh and also me and my fiancé had sex alot! Like literally daily from the day my period finished till a couple of days after ovulation. This was our first cycle and we were determined to give it our best shot. It seems to have worked! Assuming I've found a sticky bean of course. Wink

TinyDancer91 · 08/01/2022 12:34

@ECA142 yay! That's awesome! Come on sticky bean!!

OP posts:
Ft23 · 08/01/2022 12:41

Ah congrats! That's such good news and hoping you've got a sticky bean!
Also really helpful to hear about the symptoms and how much of the deed should/ might be helpful to be done Wink - I haven't read too much on it but wondered if the best time was a few days pre ovulation so thought to try every other day in those few days, but not sure it's enough!

Such good news for you, really happy for you!

Sassy144 · 08/01/2022 12:51

Am I seeing things?! Faint, but clearer in person.

@Sassy144

I can see it! Grin

sbardy18 · 08/01/2022 12:58

Hey ladies,

Not trying currently but I want to share a few things that helped. Folic acid and multi vits from the start. If you've had any Covid jab recently or even Covid your period will probably be late anyway. It's hard not to get obsessive with testing, or at least I know I did.

I bought the cheap testing strips from Amazon and clear blue ovulation monitor to help, also used a thermometer to check my temperature daily! Sadly I suffered from a miscarriage during my first pregnancy so it made me even more obsessive and thought we had missed the ovulation period the second time trying but to our surprise it was a successful pregnancy!

Good luck to you all!

Nyxxie · 08/01/2022 14:51

Congratulations to those testing positive, great news :)

rcal1988 · 08/01/2022 15:33

@ECA142 thanks so much for all that info. Very interesting! When did your symptoms start? I wouldn’t say I have any symptoms yet really which makes me think this is not our month but then again I’m only 5DPO! 😂 just so impatient!

CrazyCatLady95 · 08/01/2022 16:35

I'm 5DPO and have literally no symptoms, I dunno if this is because I've been focussing on it less. Last month I was convinced I was pregnant, severe bloating and pulling sensations, decreased appetite and nausea - BFN last month however this was my first cycle after coming off implant. I'm trying this month to just go with the flow, not think about it too much and just see if AF comes. I am back at work now so I think that's helping. I do hope this month is the one! If not will be onto cycle #3! 😭🤞🏼🤞🏼

S0lipsism · 08/01/2022 17:36

@cavmum27

Hey!

New to Mumsnet ... TTC and 7DPO. AF due in 7 days. Been off contraception well over a year and been using condoms.

My boobs always get sore and swollen pre AF and they have started to hurt like usual but I had a weird stinging sensation earlier that I hadn't had before. So I'm thinking AF is on the way but then others have said their boobs swell within days and they knew it was pregnancy so who knows Grin

I've gone from not being too fussed about baby making to finding this two week wait a bit torturous. Lots of my friends have been super lucky and conceived on the first or second go ... feeling anxious we may not be so lucky but really want to keep anxiety/stress at bay.

Anyway, I'm glad I've found this space. Sending positive vibes (and hopefully tests!) to everyone x

Welcome! Haha same- literally the day we decided to TTC I suddenly wanted the 2months wait for folic acid build up to hurry as suddenly became obsessed with all things baby. Strange your feelings can change so fast. Good luck with it, fingers crossed for you x
GAAJ04 · 08/01/2022 19:13

Hiya!
I'm also TTC for the 1st time, me and my husband are about 6 months in, although we had to break for a month due to a change in medication for me (I have high blood pressure). Pretty much everyone I'm close to knows we are trying, I'm under a specialist for my BP so it's been a stressful time and I needed my friend and family to talk to :)
I'm still trying to get used to the lingo and abbreviated words haha takes me ages to read these things sometimes!
I'm 8 days away from my next due period so it's a waiting game now. Not feeling possible this month!
Hope everyone is ok x

MrsG2021 · 08/01/2022 19:24

Congratulations @ECA142 and @Sassy144 ! How exciting!

I’m having an odd cycle which I’m putting down to having my booster. Clue predicted that I would ovulate on the 2nd and I thought I had as I had some egg-white CM and what I thought was a little bit of ovulation pain (I usually get a twinge on one side and bloating). However, I then continued to have egg-white CM (sorry if tmi!) until yesterday (CD 22) accompanied with more light ovulation pain on Thursday night. We’ve DTD most nights this week so I might be in with a chance as it’s possible that I ovulated later than I expected. On the other hand, it could just be a weird cycle! Who knows! I think I’m into the TWW now anyway.
Hope you’re all well! Did the booster do anything weird to your cycles?

TinyDancer91 · 08/01/2022 21:19

Am I seeing things?! Faint, but clearer in person.
I see it! And usually I don't when I've seen them in other threads!

Fingers crossed for you. Can't wait for an update! 😃

Hi all joining in the conversation :)

We tried pre covid and nothing really happened so we looked into things and I found out I had pcos and hubby had low motility. Although hubby has a dd 14 from previous marriage.

We are shelved things for a while and put our energy into getting married last year. Now we're married we're back to trying properly from September.

I am 38 size 16 to 18 so know I losing weight will help but not as easy with pcos. Hubby is 40 and has active job so reasonably fit. I have us both on pre conceive vitamins.. multi vitamin .. and cutting down on alcohol. I am also going to a holistic therapist once a morning or a fertility focused massage treatment. We are also testing ovulation with the cb sticks.

Is there anything else I can or should do would welcome any suggestions thanks so much .. good luck all x

Smilesallround1 · 09/01/2022 11:58

Hi, I’m new here and also looking for a group of like-minded ladies. We have been talking for a long time about trying for a child and decided this year was the year to go for it. It’s lovely reading all your stories so far.

BlueSky57 · 09/01/2022 12:13

Hi guys, after worrying about AF being 5 days late, I got my explanation just now… obviously very early days so trying to be calm but also shaking!

WildePanda · 09/01/2022 12:15

@BlueSky57 oh how lovely 😍

BlueSky57 · 09/01/2022 12:18

Thanks @WildePanda! I haven’t told anyone else yet, not even DH.

After days of BFNs & not even a tiny hint of a line, I had given up hope so this is a bit of a surprise now as I was waiting patiently for AF.

Sassy144 · 09/01/2022 12:28

Congratulations @BlueSky57!

TinyDancer91 · 09/01/2022 12:43
