First timers, TTC. Safe space for brain dumps...

Hi everyone!

This thread may or may not contain questions, I've mainly started it to be my brain dump safe space but in an excited way, not a bad way...

Me (30) and my SO (34) have decided to take the leap and start TTC! We have both wanted children for a while but just knew the timing wasn't right for either of us until now. For me, any time I see a baby or even baby clothes recently my heart aches for it to be my turn. I've never really had that strong feeling before.

The reason behind this 'safe space' is that we have agreed not to tell anyone we are TTC. We just want to avoid any pressure or disappointment if things don't go to plan, etc.

For context, I am the youngest of 5, the only girl the only one of my siblings without children.
SO is the oldest of 2, his brother has a child who lives with BM away from here so isn't really seen much by grandparents.

Both families are great and would only want the best for us but I personally don't want to feel any sort or pressure at all (intended or not) from either side.

So, we start our journey, we are on cycle 1 SWI, not expecting anything to happen this cycle and trying not to turn in to a crazy lady about TTC Smile

If anyone else needs a brain dump safe space, feel free to join me here Smilex

Morning everyone. Hope you're all well.

I have a quick question about BD. Are you all doing every other day? I have a short cycle and that works out as around 3 attempts before predicted ovulation. Would you try every day or is that perhaps effecting the sperm too much? Sorry for TMI.

I just want to give us the best chance this month 🙏🏼 xx

Hi guys.

Quick update from me. Another BFN this (last) cycle. AF arrived last weekend, so on to a new cycle now. We've tried all sorts of things, we've tried vitamins, fertilily, lube, lying with my legs up for 10 mins after DTD.

My bloods came back as 'normal'. OH has had bloods done for something else and they have come back with an 'abnormal' result for a potential autoimmune disease. It's most likely rheumatoid arthritis but we won't know for a little while yet while he has more tests.

I've been reading up on autoimmune diseases (dr google... really shouldn't have until we know exactly what's going on). I've seen that they can affect fertility or can mean infertility, depending on the type.

So, yeah, that's my update for the moment. My mind is going at 100mph and doesn't know which turns to take right now. I've become an emotional time bomb, I seem to cry at the smallest thing at the minute when I'm alone. I've mastered the art of wearing a mask around everyone and pretending I'm ok and everything is normal.

How is everyone else doing? Any BFPs? Anyone in the TWW? Share some good news with me.

💕

Good morning All,

gosh I haven’t posted in a while.

still not pregnant. The cycle after my chemical didn’t work. But we are onto the next and I am currently 2DPO.
absolutely refuse to symptom spot this cycle. Because my intuition will let me know. I know when I am and when I’m not. Honestly, it’s like I just know. So weird.

I feel very hopeful and good about this cycle. We did the SMEP way and I just have this feeling that it has worked. But I’m not gonna over think it, I am going to carry on with my life. This next 2 weeks I plan to eat well, get lots of exercise, take my supplements, and do lots of self care! Stress is not necessary!

sending you all lots of baby dust ✨✨✨

Smilesallround1 · 15/10/2022 11:15

Also still not pregnant. And it’s clearly having a greater affect on me than I thought. If I hear one more person say to me ‘ you’re not your cheery self’ one more time I’ll scream.

LucyLoopyLu · 15/10/2022 16:08

Hi all. Also still not pregnant! Cycle 7 now, ov should be next week so we are DTD today, Mon, Weds, Fri, Sun.

We're also getting a fertility check privately on 31st. Blood test to check AMH for me, and an internal ultrasound, plus sperm analysis for my husband. Dreading the test and the results but hoping it will give us some clarity. Maybe there is nothing wrong and we just need more time.

TinyDancer - sorry to hear about your PH's test result. What's the next step? Are they offering a sperm analysis so you can see whether there is something there?

ChloeN · 15/10/2022 17:42

@BeeLieve86 2dpo today for me also so we’re in it together🤞🏻❤️

PPop · 15/10/2022 19:30

Ov test coming negative, according to tracking should be ovulating now. Now having spotting sometimes in the day 🤷🏼‍♀️

Vet confused and frustrated!

PPop · 15/10/2022 19:31

Very obviously is what I meant, there is no vet involved 😂

Babydust99 · 15/10/2022 20:14

Af arrived so onto cycle 5 now 🤞

CheeryCupcake · 15/10/2022 22:31

Several days now of constant nausea, not the best fun I've ever had - BFN yesterday but still only 7/8 dpo today and cramping so who knows. Feeling a bit sorry for myself this evening, hormones all over the place and strong waves of fatigue every now and then. If I'm not pregnant then this is definitely the worst PMS I have ever had in my life!

MrsJA85 · 16/10/2022 01:57

Hi everyone, thanks in advance for letting me join. I'm Jen, 37 years old and a Brit living in Sydney.

My OH and I have been undecided about having kids for quite a few years now but have decided that, as we are both 37, time is not on our side. The decision to TTC is a very scary one. We both enjoy our independence but, at the same time, do not want to have regrets in the future.

Any tips to help us or things to use? I have the clear blue OPK and I have started taking folic acid. I also have an app on my phone to track my cycle.

What are people's opinions on other products such as thermometers, saliva tests etc? I want to give myself the best chance I can but not waste money in things that don't work!

Thanks ladies
Spreading baby dust to you all!

Sunshinescotter · 19/10/2022 18:58

Hi everyone. I've been following this thread for a while. Anyway I have been TTC since January and got my first ever BFP today. Still hasn't sunk in. I had an appointment booked next week with my Doctor who was planning on going through my blood test results and referring me to a fertility clinic. I just wanted to share this news with you as I hope it brings some hope to you if you have been TTC for a while. Sometimes it just takes a little while it seems! I hope you all get your BFPs soon x

thecoconutcat · 19/10/2022 22:28

Congratulations @Sunshinescotter

mgwyegve · 20/10/2022 07:20

What brilliant news @Sunshinescotter !! Congratulations 💕

mgwyegve · 21/10/2022 09:15

I am currently on CD27, cycles are usually 24-26 days and I am ALWAYS spotting by cd 24 if not earlier… no sign of any spotting or AF currently… I think ovulated later this cycle so I don’t want to get my hopes up. No AF or PG symptoms.. just hoping AF stays away! I have been testing pretty much every day for the last few days (can’t help myself) and all BFN. I’m sure AF will arrive in the next couple of days and we’ll be moving onto cycle 11 but still, will be keeping everything crossed 🤞 😬

how is everyone else doing? X

mgwyegve · 21/10/2022 09:28

I don’t know if I’ve totally lost the plot now but I just got yesterdays test out of the bin… my partner is not convinced he can see anything but I’m certain there’s the tiniest faint line?!?

First timers, TTC. Safe space for brain dumps...
Olegia · 21/10/2022 10:15

Hey lovely ladies, may I join?
I've stopped the pill in July and had my first period at the end of September. I definitely ovulated yesterday, and we DTD yesterday, the day before, and Sunday.
It's our first time trying (I'm 26 and a half, my partner just turned 27).

@mgwyegve I think I can see a very faint line too!

Livlaughloathe · 21/10/2022 11:27

@Sunshinescotter congratulations! ✨

@mgwyegve i think I can see the line too! Keeping everything crossed for you! How many dpo do you think you are? And have you tested again today?🤞🏼✨

mgwyegve · 21/10/2022 11:37

@Livlaughloathe thank you! I think I’m around 9 dpo but I haven’t been religiously testing this month as it was all driving me a bit mad!! I’ve just sent to OH out to get another test so will keep you posted! I don’t want to get my hopes up, it could be an evap but I’ve never had an evap with these tests before… so fingers crossed!! 🤞

TinyDancer91 · 21/10/2022 11:51

@Sunshinescotter congrats!! So lovely to see some good news on here!

@mgwyegve fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻

Not such positive news from me I'm afraid. We are facing the strong possibility that OH has low sperm count - we did an at home test a few days ago. However, he won't go to the dr until after Xmas, so I feel a bit stuck between a rock and a hard place at the moment. I'm just desperate for answers. Feeling like I've lost my mojo as well. Lost the motivation to do OPKs so I've abandoned that this cycle.

Wanting something so badly and seeing absolutely zero progress is just so hard.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Fingers crossed for you all and can't wait to see your BFPs coming through 💕

BeeLieve86 · 21/10/2022 12:11

@TinyDancer91

so sorry to hear. Is your partner taking any supplements? I don’t know my partners sperm count but I’ve got him taking coQ10 and DHA which is supposed to help with that.

sending you a big hug xxx

thecoconutcat · 21/10/2022 12:56

@TinyDancer91 sounds stressful...although beware with home testing of sperm...they can be inaccurate if you have ejaculated in any way recently prior to the test!

mgwyegve · 21/10/2022 13:32

@TinyDancer91 sorry to hear that you’re feeling that way. I hope you get some answers soon and they can get the ball rolling for you if needs be.

I did a clear blue which was 100% negative. I had drank a few cuppas this morning before testing though so I think I’ll try again tomorrow morning… if I can wait that long. I think it’s probably just an evap line after reading some of the mom med reviews ☹️

mgwyegve · 24/10/2022 13:02

Just an update… my little glimmer of hope last week must have just been an evap. AF is here and onto cycle 11 we go.
so disappointed.

RedLipstick1 · 26/10/2022 23:41

Hi Everyone

I hope you don't mind if I join this chat, I have been reading through and it's been lovely seeing those get their BFPs. It's also reassuring that we are not on our own during this TTC journey.

I am 29 and husband is 30. I came off contraception in April and cycle returned to normal in June.
Since then we have been "seeing how it goes", my husband has a more laid back approach whereas I am the control freak and unfortunately this is something that's out of my control!
This approach was put on hold a couple months back, after finding out my mother was diagnosed with cancer. Understandably stress took over and TTC was put on the back burner.

We have recently started trying properly, however I feel the stress isn't helping. Sorry to sound morbid but I have in the back of my mind that I would love nothing more than to give my mother a grandchild, which of course is putting pressure and more stress on me!

My cycles have been really regularly around 28/29 days since coming off contraception.
I am now a day or so late, and have been getting BFNs so far...

Best wishes to you all and look forward to hearing your stories.
