First timers, TTC. Safe space for brain dumps...

TinyDancer91 · 01/01/2022 19:55

Hi everyone!

This thread may or may not contain questions, I've mainly started it to be my brain dump safe space but in an excited way, not a bad way...

Me (30) and my SO (34) have decided to take the leap and start TTC! We have both wanted children for a while but just knew the timing wasn't right for either of us until now. For me, any time I see a baby or even baby clothes recently my heart aches for it to be my turn. I've never really had that strong feeling before.

The reason behind this 'safe space' is that we have agreed not to tell anyone we are TTC. We just want to avoid any pressure or disappointment if things don't go to plan, etc.

For context, I am the youngest of 5, the only girl the only one of my siblings without children.
SO is the oldest of 2, his brother has a child who lives with BM away from here so isn't really seen much by grandparents.

Both families are great and would only want the best for us but I personally don't want to feel any sort or pressure at all (intended or not) from either side.

So, we start our journey, we are on cycle 1 SWI, not expecting anything to happen this cycle and trying not to turn in to a crazy lady about TTC Smile

If anyone else needs a brain dump safe space, feel free to join me here Smilex

@Glawen I'm the same as you. Don't even know how many dpo I am now

Sossan92 · 05/09/2022 11:01

Hii alll,
Joining the party a bit late.
My husband (33) and I (30) started TTC In June. Have been only monitoring my fertility window my counting but this month I would like to use ovulation tests too. Finger crossed to all of us 🙏

Glawen · 05/09/2022 11:40

@Babydust99 me neither and I'm so frustrated. I wanted to really track everything so I know for the possible coming months too. Let's hope we've been lucky with our BD hun x

Babydust99 · 05/09/2022 15:46

🤞🤞 we dtd cd 8, 10, 12 and 15. App predicts I'm 3 dpo but I'd say probably 2dpo as I had strong ovulation pains on Friday. Wbu?

TinyDancer91 · 05/09/2022 22:03

@BeeLieve86 I'm so sorry 😢 fingers crossed you get your BFP next cycle 💕

AF started for me today. This is my second month off the pill. First cycle 8 weeks this one was 27 days so a bit of a shock this morning!

TinyDancer91 · 06/09/2022 08:52

@Plantymcplant that's a good sign though, means things look they are getting back to normal with your cycle. I was very similar when I came off the pill last year. After the second cycle I was more regular than I was before the pill! 😂

Fingers crossed for you now though 🤞🏻💕

Now 9 dpo and resisting the urge to test. Feeling a bit icky and bloated/gassy and by back has been really painful, but due to my experiences so far I'm not convinced this means anything! I'm still not convinced that this is going to happen for us naturally (or even all at some days).

I'm currently just waiting for AF so I can book myself an appointment with the gp....

AF due Sunday, so I guess we'll be a step closer either way next week.

Love & baby dust to all 💕✨

@TinyDancer91 keeping everything crossed that this is the one for you!

hope everyone is doing good. AF has just disappeared for me so I suppose it’s time to start thinking about it all again… feeling tired, drained and super anxious lately. It really is an exhausting journey. We’re going on holiday at the end of the month and given my anxiety currently I’m not going to put too much pressure on this cycle. I contacted the GP last week so still waiting to hear back at the moment regarding blood tests and stuff…

we have decided if nothing has happened by to end of the year we’re going to put it on the back burner for a short while and plan a big trip to give us something to look forward to!

baby dust and happy thoughts to you all ✨ 💖

Glawen · 06/09/2022 11:54

@Babydust99 we BD CDs 9, 11, 12 and 17 🤷🏽‍♀️ I don't have a good feeling but only time will tell. My app is showing I am 6dpo today but I have no idea when it was so guessing game! X

Glawen · 06/09/2022 12:04

Good luck @TinyDancer91 🤞🏼🥰

Babydust99 · 06/09/2022 19:55

@Glawen yeah I recon I'm 3dpo but app say 4dpo lol

Glawen · 07/09/2022 10:50

Morning ladies!

Flo/premom both say I'm 7dpo today but after failing to get lines on the OPKs I don't have a clue when I ovulated this month. AF is due on 14th September.

From last night I've been having cramping in the lower tummy. I would describe it as a pre-period pain feeling, that dull ache. I was really emotional last night too. Don't know if I'm building these up to be more than they are and also if I'm less than 7dpo whether it's even possible to have any symptoms yet. I had really written the month off but these are making me wonder.

Anyone had similar? X

CE1993 · 07/09/2022 11:44

Hiya hope I’m ok to join! 😊

Looking for some advice/anyone in the same boat if possible - I think I’m 11 dpo, had some spotting and cramping on Monday, which after some research found this could be implantation bleeding? I’ve never bled between cycles before so this was out of the ordinary, however I did a FRER today as I’m very impatient and it couldn’t be more negative if it tried.

Have I tested too early or is there still a small chance as AF not due until Friday? Xx

Babydust99 · 07/09/2022 20:49

@Glawen I've had kinda crampy pains today but slightly lower down than my stomach if that makes sense. I've had backache too. I have endometriosis tho so it might not mean anything

Glawen · 08/09/2022 10:59

@Babydust99 how are you feeling today? How many dpo are you? I bloody hate this TWW 😩

TinyDancer91 · 08/09/2022 11:28

Welcome @CE1993. You're never 100% out until AF arrives. Keep us posted!

OP posts:
TinyDancer91 · 08/09/2022 11:41

Sorry guys, but of a negative Nancy post here... feel free to skip it...

I'm now 11dpo again. Did a FRER yesterday & an easy@home strip today. Both BFN. They could not have been any more of a BFN if they tried!!

I think I've resigned myself to the fact that it's just never going to happen for us. I feel like I'm losing the fight within me to carry on and keep getting my heart broken every month. I feel like a failure for not being able to do this when everyone around me seems to be able to with such ease and without even trying.

I know you'll say to hang on in there and it's not over until AF arrives (yes I've just said it myself in my last post!) but I honestly don't think it's happened again this month. So unless by some miracle I get a BFP this weekend, I don't know what to do.

I feel like I'm grieving for something that never was...

Glawen · 08/09/2022 12:17

@TinyDancer91 sending hugs! 🤍 I've got that gut feeling too, that's it's not happened for us this month. You're not a failure at all hun, so sorry you feel that way Flowers But I understand that the repeat of seeing the same single line that is exhausting and heartbreaking isn't it. Do something you enjoy today to pick you up a little... or even better, I would eat something I really enjoy - mostly chocolate 🥰 Are you seeing a fertility doctor at the moment? xxx

AgeGapBbe · 08/09/2022 12:24

How long’s it been @TinyDancer91 ? Sorry if I missed that. Try and think about how there will be so many others taking longer than they’d like- you just don’t always hear about them. I know it’s hard, hang on in there.

LucyLoopyLu · 08/09/2022 13:41

So sorry @TinyDancer91, it's got to be so tough. I've struggled a bit this time when AF arrived and I've only tried for 5 cycles.

You're not alone in feeling this way and you're not to blame.

mgwyegve · 08/09/2022 13:51

@TinyDancer91 so sorry you’re feeling this way. Have you contacted your GP yet?

I had a call back from mine earlier this week which was somewhat reassuring. He basically said that while it’s a really upsetting and stressful process they advise up to 2 years for the reason that it really can and does commonly take that length of time, it’s just not so readily talked about as people don’t really celebrate the fact that it’s taken them a while to conceive.

might be worth having a good chat with your GP and see if they can do anything for you at this point or even try and give you some reassurance. My GP said they could do blood work whenever but they wouldn’t necessarily make any referrals until 2 years even if there is anything untoward, so I’ve decided not to go ahead with that for now.

I really do think it will happen for us all. Might take a little longer than we’d like but it will be well worth the wait when it happens!

You’ve got this 💖

LucyLoopyLu · 08/09/2022 15:57

@mgwyegve 2 years is a long time! I thought they refer you for testing after one year? Is that because you are younger? I started trying at 33 so I don't want to wait until I'm 35 to get the ball rolling if there is a problem.

Me and my husband have talked about potentially getting tests done privately (not yet) but not sure how much they cost and obviously not affordable for everyone.

mgwyegve · 08/09/2022 16:01

Hi @LucyLoopyLu yeah I’m 27 and my partner is 31 so 2 years for us.

I came across a page on instagram today of a couple who had been trying for the best part of 2 years and finally got pregnant naturally and are having identical twins!
