First timers, TTC. Safe space for brain dumps...

TinyDancer91 · 01/01/2022 19:55

Hi everyone!

This thread may or may not contain questions, I've mainly started it to be my brain dump safe space but in an excited way, not a bad way...

Me (30) and my SO (34) have decided to take the leap and start TTC! We have both wanted children for a while but just knew the timing wasn't right for either of us until now. For me, any time I see a baby or even baby clothes recently my heart aches for it to be my turn. I've never really had that strong feeling before.

The reason behind this 'safe space' is that we have agreed not to tell anyone we are TTC. We just want to avoid any pressure or disappointment if things don't go to plan, etc.

For context, I am the youngest of 5, the only girl the only one of my siblings without children.
SO is the oldest of 2, his brother has a child who lives with BM away from here so isn't really seen much by grandparents.

Both families are great and would only want the best for us but I personally don't want to feel any sort or pressure at all (intended or not) from either side.

So, we start our journey, we are on cycle 1 SWI, not expecting anything to happen this cycle and trying not to turn in to a crazy lady about TTC Smile

If anyone else needs a brain dump safe space, feel free to join me here Smilex

@Dogmum13 You've got this... it is stressful and overwhelming. Finding the balance between hopeful and realistic is tough. Such exciting times but don't wanna get too excited just in case. I understand how ya feel! I'm cd13... 4dpo and just waiting to test really!

Glawen · 28/07/2022 09:48

@Dogmum13 good luck - it's early days for us too! We've got this 🤞🏼❤️

LauraA31 · 28/07/2022 10:17

@Dogmum13 Hello and welcome!
Im also CD5, TTC #1, cycle 3 for me though. I’m starting to use my ovulation tests today as premom recommended.
I have had the hardest time mentally whilst TTC, im so hard on myself but trying to not be so hard on myself this cycle 🙂

Fingers crossed for everybody!

Dogmum13 · 28/07/2022 10:33

@LauraA31 do you have short cycles? Cd5 is early to be using opks.

Dogmum13 · 28/07/2022 10:34

Thanks everyone, glad to find people feeling the same as me lol

Ygritte88 · 28/07/2022 10:35

Hello,

Please May I join the thread? Myself and my husband have been trying to conceive since November last year and would be great to get some support as not telling anyone we’re TTC! Finding it a real struggle when AF comes each month, as well as possible PCOS which I’m still waiting on a diagnosis for 😐

TinyDancer91 · 28/07/2022 10:39

Hi all! Lots for me to catch up one here...

@thecoconutcat wishing you lots of luck in your next cycle. OPKs have helped me to work out when AF will be showing up and it's been quite useful as my cycles started to get a bit longer but that was between AF and ovulation day. Had I not been using them I would have gotten my hopes up more on the longer months I think!

@Glawen it's never too early 😂 enjoy the BD!! More often = more chances, surely!

@Moonlighting we are all over the moon for you. We'd love to keep hearing about how your BFP progresses!! 🥰

@Dogmum13 welcome! I must admit it is all a bit overwhelming. I'd love to say it gets easier but for me I still feel a bit overwhelmed. But we are here for each other and having you all to chat to has helped me massively!!

@Chocolat congrats to you too!! Another BFP for our little group 🥰 having 2 of you in the past few weeks is giving me a little bit of hope. Please keep us updated on your progress too!!

@Glawen I'm still learning some of the lingo too 😂 there's a link somewhere on Mumsnet to the commonly used abbreviations but I can't remember where I found it. AF is Aunt Flow, BFP is Big Fat Positive, BFN Big Fat Negative, DTD is doing the deed, BD is baby dancing.... if there's any others that you're not sure of let me know and if I can help I will! 😊 in terms of how often, some studies suggest that every other day improves sperm quality but some say every day is equally as good, so do what feel right for you.

As for me, today is my ovulation day, so back in the TWW tomorrow! We've DTD every day except one in my fertile window this cycle and will be BD again today and tomorrow just to cover all bases. Also using the ferti-lily cup the past few days so we'll see how that goes. AF next due around 11th aug and DPs birthday is 20th so would love to have a BFP for his birthday!! 🤞🏻

Love & baby dust to all 💕✨

@Dogmum13 I have 24/25 day cycles, it’s too early to get a peak or high but i use the easy@home ones to get my baseline from CD5 to make sure i get the increase, i don’t use my clearblue ones until the lines get darker on the easy@home ones.

Dogmum13 · 28/07/2022 10:47

Ahh ok, I used to ovulate on cd10-12 so know the feeling lol. I'm giving it 3 months before I start using opks. I get ovulation pains so I kinda know when to go for it more frequently lol

LauraA31 · 28/07/2022 11:09

@Dogmum13 I never used to pay any attention to my cycles until we started TTC, i am getting used to them now and i ovulate typically round CD10/CD11 like you used to do.
i get no pains at all, no symptoms of ovulation so it’s super hard for me to tell. I was going to start BBT but think id become obsessive so left it alone for another month ahah!

How long are your cycles :)

Dogmum13 · 28/07/2022 13:34

@LauraA31 usually 25-29 days max but then last month had a 33 day one 🙈 never had that before lol. The one I've just finished was 29 days so hopefully I'm getting back to normal now

BeeLieve86 · 30/07/2022 11:07

Hey ladies,
So I am on cycle day 12 and today is ovulation day. I got a huge LH peak yesterday. We BD on cycle day 10 in pm and cycle day 12 in am. Is that enough? I really hope so, we don't have another chance to BD now.

Any success stories from anyone who got pregnant and didn't have copious amounts of sex? Please? Haha.
Baby dust to all ✨✨✨

HappyPie82 · 30/07/2022 13:14

Can I join?
Sadly had to have surgical management of a miscarriage this week. It was my first pregnancy and came as a surprise because I was on the pill. The miscarriage was at 9weeks and has devastated me but we are also extremely keen to try again as the pregnancy made us realise we both really want a child (we were always planning ttc in 2023). I’m also in therapy to help process the miscarriage.
So this will be our first experience of ttc, currently I’m waiting for my period to return so we can see where cycle is at. Planning to monitor bbt and then potential opks if we’re heading towards Xmas with no sign of pregnancy.

TinyDancer91 · 30/07/2022 21:51

Welcome @BeeLieve86. Hoping for a bfp for you soon.

Welcome @HappyPie82. Sorry sorry to hear your news. Isn't it strange that sometimes it takes something awful to make us realise what we really want though! Hope you get a bfp soon and that it sticks this time!

Thank you @TinyDancer91 the same for you. Baby dust ✨✨✨

Sailawaygirl · 31/07/2022 17:03

@HappyPie82 so sorry for your loss and thank you thank you sharing your story

Chocolat · 31/07/2022 21:54

@TinyDancer91 thank you! I got my first faint positive line on 13DPO (roughly as I decided not to track ovulation this month). So don’t give up hope ladies if you’re having Bfns before as it’s definitely not over until AF arrives xx

TinyDancer91 · 01/08/2022 22:10

4dpo.... keep me strong ladies....

Who knew it would be this hard or mentally draining?

Praying for my miracle 🙏🏻🤞🏻💕

Keeping everything crossed for you @TinyDancer91 !

I’m now 7 dpo and having one of those crazy months where I just want to test every day… in fact I have tested every day since about 3 dpo... crazy I know 😂. I know it’s still too early but just can’t help myself. BFN today and I’m not holding out too much hope for this cycle. AF due to be here by the weekend.

I am thinking I might take a break from trying next month and try to de-stress about it all. We have booked a few days away for OH’s birthday in a couple of weeks so hopefully that will help too!

positive thoughts and baby dust to you all 💕✨

Livlaughloathe · 02/08/2022 11:14

Hello everyone, may I join?

Myself (28) and my partner (30) have been ttc for a few months now and I am already a crazy woman with the tracking, symptom spotting and everything else! It’s nice to know I’m not alone and to speak to others on their journey. Wishing you all the very best and hope to see lots of you get your BFP’s very soon! ✨

I’m currently 11dpo and AF due today but no real signs of her coming yet. I’m impatient and did a test this morning with fmu and I’m driving myself up the wall thinking there’s a glimmer of a line but it could well be an evap and waiting until tomorrow is such torture. What’s everyone’s experience with evap lines? I’ve never had one before…

x

TinyDancer91 · 02/08/2022 12:39

Thanks @mgwyegve - a break away does sound good, think I could do with one myself!! Hoping for a BFP for you though!!

Welcome @Livlaughloathe which tests are you using? I had an evap on a clear blue last month 😔 they are more common on ones with blue dye apparently! Fingers crossed for you for a BFP!!

OP posts:
Livlaughloathe · 02/08/2022 13:33

Hi @TinyDancer91 sorry to hear you had one last month, they are the worst things when we’re going through something so sensitive! Giving us that bit of hope. Fingers crossed for you this month! ✨

It was a Superdrug early detection, it’s pink dye but I’ve read so many awful reviews about evap lines with them so I’m trying not to get my hopes up. I have a FRER for tomorrow. The tww is awful but even this 24 hours to wait to test again is driving me nuts. I keep crying. Then I hope that in itself is a good sign! 🙈

Plantymcplant · 02/08/2022 14:09

Hello! Can I join too? I came off the pill at the beginning of July and waiting to see what happens! I’ve been on the pill about 4 years. Before that I was on it for 10 years and when I came off before it took 6 weeks for my period to return so not sure what to expect this month.

LauraA31 · 02/08/2022 16:23

Afternoon all, hope everybody is doing ok!

I got my peak ovulation clear blue this afternoon and my easy@home tests the control line was lighter than my test line.
Keeping every thing crossed that this will be our month 🤞🏻

BeeLieve86 · 02/08/2022 17:23

@LauraA31 fingers crossed! Happy baby dancing haha!

im currently at 3dpo with zero unusual symptoms so far.
