First timers, TTC. Safe space for brain dumps...

Hi everyone!

This thread may or may not contain questions, I've mainly started it to be my brain dump safe space but in an excited way, not a bad way...

Me (30) and my SO (34) have decided to take the leap and start TTC! We have both wanted children for a while but just knew the timing wasn't right for either of us until now. For me, any time I see a baby or even baby clothes recently my heart aches for it to be my turn. I've never really had that strong feeling before.

The reason behind this 'safe space' is that we have agreed not to tell anyone we are TTC. We just want to avoid any pressure or disappointment if things don't go to plan, etc.

For context, I am the youngest of 5, the only girl the only one of my siblings without children.
SO is the oldest of 2, his brother has a child who lives with BM away from here so isn't really seen much by grandparents.

Both families are great and would only want the best for us but I personally don't want to feel any sort or pressure at all (intended or not) from either side.

So, we start our journey, we are on cycle 1 SWI, not expecting anything to happen this cycle and trying not to turn in to a crazy lady about TTC Smile

If anyone else needs a brain dump safe space, feel free to join me here Smilex

Hi everyone! We’re at this stage too and I’ve just read your thread and wondered if I could join? I’m so nervous!!

Mariabombia · 17/01/2022 20:08

@rcal1988 ahhh!!! Massive congratulations 🎉 that would explain the cramps wouldn't it. You must be over the moon xxx

Nyxxie · 17/01/2022 21:09

@rcal1988 yay, huge congratulations!!!

rcal1988 · 17/01/2022 21:15

Thank you so much @Mariabombia and @Nyxxieny 🙂 had a bit of a panic tonight when I had a small amount of brown discharge this evening but I’m trying not to worry too much. Maybe just implantation bleeding coming out. Took another test to calm the nerves 🙈 wonder how many more I’ll do…

PAJ21 · 17/01/2022 21:27

Hi all,
We are currently TTC too. DH and I are both 28 and I have only told my BF as she has recently given birth. We used an EDT this cycle and the following day AF arrived. DH was absolutely devastated. Hope you all got some good news Smile xx

TinyDancer91 · 17/01/2022 21:37

Congratulations @rcal1988!!

On the Covid front, I test negative today!! Fingers crossed for another negative tomorrow so I can end my isolation 😄

AF returned today! I feel like the pain is worse because I'm trying haha

rcal1988 · 18/01/2022 16:21

Sorry to hear AF showed up @Zubi sending lots of positive vibes for the next cycle 😘

S0lipsism · 18/01/2022 17:05

Congrats on all the positives so far & big hugs to the continuing tryers.

Just wondering how long did everyone take folic acid for before TTC? The full 3 months?
I know the advice is 2 months minimum, but even that seems like an age...

lakejupiter · 18/01/2022 17:11

Hi @S0lipsism - I started taking it in September before beginning TTC in Jan but that's partly as I'm older so there's more risk of neural tube stuff. Tbh I think it's just a guideline - nobody who gets pregnant accidentally takes it beforehand.

Horriblewoman · 18/01/2022 17:13

I consider myself a relatively clever woman but this is like another language!

We've tentatively started, but no measurement of ovulation days beyond my app and just seeing what happens. Feel a bit stupid now!

Thanks for that. That's true although I'd hate to risk it unnecessarily... the booster has delayed my schedule so I was wondering whether to go for it in Feb instead of March 🧐 I read that eggs take 3 months to develop and I don't want an old Baileys egg from Christmas but my science could be flawed 😂

I'm also only 'apping' to start with at least. And maybe keep an eye on your CM 🤷‍♀️
Zubi · 18/01/2022 17:40

@S0lipsism hahaha the old baileys egg!! When I had my coil removed, the nurse practitioner told me just one month of taking them would be fine. I think the general advice is about 3 months but I wouldn't worry if you wanted to try now I'm sure your baileys eggs are in tip top condition!

Zubi · 18/01/2022 17:44

@Horriblewoman I wouldn't worry about it! Maybe try some ovulation sticks to help get you in the rhythm of knowing when you ovulate? I found them really helpful!

lakejupiter · 18/01/2022 17:54

Can't stop laughing at Baileys egg 😂

Ooh exciting I might just go for it in Feb and blame you if I end up with a baby that wants booze in it's milk 🥰

Zubi · 18/01/2022 18:15

@S0lipsism when you're pregnant please nickname your baby 'Bailey' 😂😂

Done! A bailey bump instead of a baby bump..

Mariabombia · 19/01/2022 10:47

Static smiley on CB advanced today !

DTD on Sunday but didn't yesterday :/....do you think we're still covered if we DTD today & tomorrow?

Anyone else in their fertile week??

Xx

Ejk1990 · 19/01/2022 11:14

Hi all! First time posting 🙂

Me and my husband have decided to start trying for baby. I had my implant removed on 14/12 and after 10 years without a period I got my first one today (haven't missed this feeling!).

We are 31 and 32 and have been together for 12 years, married for 6. So I think its time.

Looking forward to posting my journey, really a tad overwhelmed!

Bluets · 19/01/2022 13:01

Congratulations @rcal1988 how exciting!!

Bailey's egg has me honestly LOL'ing.

Welcome @Ejk1990 and @PAJ21 and any others I missed while being chill in the early part of my cycle! Grin

I used my first OPK today (CD9). Suffice to say I will be less chill very soon! My Clue app has my predicted ovulation day as 26th Jan and my Garmin Connect has my fertile week as 22nd - 28th Jan so I'll be really interested to see how accurate that is against the OPKs. I watched a youtube video detailing how someone used OPKs and created a notebook/diary to track it. Inspired by that, I made my own version and printed it off and I'm enjoying the feeling of being more active in my recording/understanding of my cycle.

littlecontis · 19/01/2022 16:12

@Mariabombia I am in my fertile week! DTD on Sunday and yesterday and will again tonight 😂 my first TTC cycle so don't have high hopes. Plan to get more lingerie tho...!

rcal1988 · 19/01/2022 16:24

Thank you so much @Bluets! Looking forward to hearing how you ladies get on over the next few weeks Smile

JoeMalon3y · 19/01/2022 16:29

Trying for baby #1 over here age 32 & 33 this is my first proper cycle of tracking (we've been taking the relaxed approach since October), supposed to ovulate today so my 2WW is imminent... hoping for a positive result this month I've also got some conceive+ lubricant along with taking my folic acid, Vit D and DHAs...fingers crossed for us all ✨😘
