First timers, TTC. Safe space for brain dumps...

Hi everyone!

This thread may or may not contain questions, I've mainly started it to be my brain dump safe space but in an excited way, not a bad way...

Me (30) and my SO (34) have decided to take the leap and start TTC! We have both wanted children for a while but just knew the timing wasn't right for either of us until now. For me, any time I see a baby or even baby clothes recently my heart aches for it to be my turn. I've never really had that strong feeling before.

The reason behind this 'safe space' is that we have agreed not to tell anyone we are TTC. We just want to avoid any pressure or disappointment if things don't go to plan, etc.

For context, I am the youngest of 5, the only girl the only one of my siblings without children.
SO is the oldest of 2, his brother has a child who lives with BM away from here so isn't really seen much by grandparents.

Both families are great and would only want the best for us but I personally don't want to feel any sort or pressure at all (intended or not) from either side.

So, we start our journey, we are on cycle 1 SWI, not expecting anything to happen this cycle and trying not to turn in to a crazy lady about TTC Smile

If anyone else needs a brain dump safe space, feel free to join me here Smilex

@Bluets ahhh yay! Same here, Maggie Nelson is a genius ❤️

Florrie95 · 11/01/2022 19:11

@Pickles91 thank you! 😁

@rcal1988 they're by a brand called Wondfo, you can get them on Amazon. They're pretty cheap and you get quite a few. They're supposed to be as sensitive at picking up pregnancy as the Clearblue Early so may be worth giving them a go instead of buying the expensive ones, especially if you test early and a couple of times a day (guilty)

rcal1988 · 11/01/2022 19:21

@Florrie95 thank you I will look in to these. Was so disappointed with the expensive CB ovulation tests. Complete waste of money for me when the cheap ones from Amazon were much better. I have a CB pregnancy test leftover from last month when I naively thought I might get a BFP 😂 I will see how that goes but will get these for next month if I have to 🙂

EMC2022 · 11/01/2022 20:01

Hi All,
Hope it's okay that I join in. I'm 29 and TTC with DH (also 29) for the first time. Came off the pill at the end of October and started trying right away. Hoping to get a BFP early in 2022.

lakejupiter · 11/01/2022 20:03

Has anyone heard of taking aspirin during 2ww to help with implantation?

Cookiedough123 · 11/01/2022 20:50

I am due on this Friday unless our final months pull out method work. I am so excited about starting to try. It's all I can think of currently. I have some easy@home sticks on order from amazon. Wasn't sure if I was going to get some but why not give the first go a good try!! 😀

TinyDancer91 · 11/01/2022 21:47

Sorry guys, busy day and only just catching up! I'm now 6/7 DPO. AF due in a week. Wonder how long I will last before I cave and test!

@rcal1988 I got some from Amazon that came in a set with ovulation tests too. Mine are; Easy@Home 50 x Ovulation Test... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00DOJG6RA?ref=ppxpoppmobappshare

They are recommended by the Premom app.

Hoping to see some more BFPs on this thread in the next few weeks/months!

Sending love and baby dust to you all! 🥰

Oh I have just started using those ones too @TinyDancer91. How are you finding them? My pattern was going well and then yesterday (CD9), the strength suddenly dipped. Probably started them too early so will persevere

TinyDancer91 · 12/01/2022 17:44

@Pickles91 mine arrived mid cycle so going to start using them next month (unless we get really lucky this month) did you also download the app and get the free set of ovulation tests?

OP posts:
Pickles91 · 12/01/2022 18:17

@TinyDancer91 I have the app but not the free tests. Is that the paid membership??

Bluets · 12/01/2022 18:17

@TinyDancer91 thanks for the tip about the app and free tests, my order of these came today strangely enough!

I'm going a bit old school this cycle and using a notebook to record the results of the OPKs and make general notes. I'm also continuing to use the Clue app

Mariabombia · 13/01/2022 13:08

How's everyone doing so far this week? Where is everyone in their cycle? 💕

I'm 10/11 dpo today and had a faint positive on frer this morning! Won't be completely convinced until the line is darker though! So will test again in a few days

Yayyyyy for your bfp @CrazyCatLady95 ❤️

I'm 3dpo and feeling a bit lost tbh. Because of the way I'm TTC (with a gay coparent via home insemination) I put a lot of effort into researching and planning our first inseminations and now it's done I don't know what to do with myself! I also got a bit obsessed with tracking my ovulation over the last few months and I've carried on doing OPKs for some reason despite having already ovulated and done all our inseminations for the month 😂

TinyDancer91 · 13/01/2022 15:13

@CrazyCatLady95 yay, fingers crossed for a darker line and BFP in the next few days!!

I'm trying my hardest to stop myself from testing yet, trying to hold out until at least Saturday hopefully I can wait until after that. AF due Tuesday.

Have we had any more BFPs?

Thank you @lakejupiter @TinyDancer91. What dpo are you @TinyDancer91? 💖

rcal1988 · 13/01/2022 18:35

Huge congratulations @CrazyCatLady95 that’s amazing news! Did you have any symptoms? I’m 10DPO and trying to wait until 14DPO before testing but think it might be a struggle. Nothing feels different though so keep thinking this is not my month. Must try and be more positive!

TinyDancer91 · 13/01/2022 20:17

@CrazyCatLady95 I'm about 9dpo. I knows it's too early for anything to show yet. Convinced this will not be my time yet anyway, think I just need the confirmation from AF!

Mostly bloating, funny pulling/cramping sensations, mild nausea. I'm feeling a little deflated now tbh, OH came home from work this evening and I showed him the test with the faint line and he said "uh oh..." not the reaction I was hoping for. I think he's still scared abs in denial that it would actually happen.

lakejupiter · 13/01/2022 22:20

Oh no @CrazyCatLady95 - that's not a super reassuring reaction! I hope he gets more excited. I've got no idea about romantic relationships with men but sometimes my (gay) coparent can seem less excited about something or less enthusiastic but he's just showing it in a different way/more cautious. I hope the BFP sticks and that you both start to feel happier ❤️

CrazyCatLady95 · 13/01/2022 23:04

Thanks @lakejupiter I hope so too!

Congrats!! This is such a good line for 10dpo. 👏🏻

I’m on CD30 today. Usually 28-29 cycles. Took a test yesterday - bfn. I don’t know if I’m still in tbh or I’m just waiting for AF to roll around. 😪

FlyOnTheWall89 · 14/01/2022 06:32

@CrazyCatLady95 oh sorry for that reaction! Has it happened quite quickly for you? I think it's probably just a realisation - once it settles in I'm sure he will give you more of the reaction you hoped for 💕. It is a very different experience for men and women 😂, we just get way more emotionally involved... hence Mumsnet and the speed of these threads 😂. X

Bluets · 14/01/2022 08:10

Congratulations to you @CrazyCatLady95 that's wonderful news! As others have said I hope the reaction was a fleeting moment and your OH is settling into it and getting excited.

It's really tricky to navigate our own feelings and emotions alongside those of whoever is on the journey with us.

I'm on CD4 so feeling as relaxed as it gets right now but that'll all change in a week or so I'm sure. The very concept of time gets changed by trying to conceive! Sending all of you in the two week wait lots of positivity and chill vibes through the ether!
