@newjourney21 I’ll probably start testing on the 23rd. My luteal has been 10/11 days and apparently that doesn’t move so I’d guess I’ll I know naturally by then anyway (current pub 6dpo). I always get a weird day of bloating one day before af shows. Woke up today feeling like this probably isn’t my month, probably just mentally protecting myself from feeling down though, but who knows 🤷‍♀️. If I’m not I plan to do dry healthy January so that feels more like a real try which helps. Do you know when you’ll start testing?

hotmeatymilk · 18/12/2021 17:30

Move over temperature tracking and rummaging for mucus, I can tell I have ovulated because my mood has switched overnight from “make creepy come-hither eyes at DP” to “how soon can I wee on a stick, must wee on something”. Only 1 dpo yet already bonkers. Actually grateful it’s Christmas and busy as it will be a good distraction from the waiting around also I will 100% be hiding in a bathroom on Christmas morning, weeing on things and holding tests up to the light and squinting

RubyRainbows · 18/12/2021 18:06

@hotmeatymilk that made me laugh but totally relatable! 😂 I’m also so glad it’s Christmas time and hoping that will help to take my mind off things 🤞

Shortmamashortcycles · 18/12/2021 18:37

@hotmeatymilk, that is exactly how I confirm ovulation! I can literally feel myself switch from "hello darling," to gnawing on my fingernails each month.

Even more weirdly, the last two cycles I've confirmed ovulation when I've randomly burst into tears each day. Hello oestrogen drop!

Completely separately... your username is amazing - there must be a good story there?!

newjourney21 · 18/12/2021 18:52

@madeleine85 ahhh so close, keeping my fingers crossed for you! I've been feeling the same, I think it's good (for me anyway) to mentally prepare. But positive vibes this could be our month SmileSmile I'm with you on the healthy January, I'm actually quite looking forward to it.
So after my peak OPK the app is now predicting AF on 2nd January, so I think I'm going to try and hold out and test on NYE (will be 13dpo, that's if AF hasn't come early) Either way I will be able to feel positive going into the new year! Let me know how you get on!!

Nico89 · 18/12/2021 20:06

Literally as soon as ovulation has happened my boobs get sore then stay this way progressively getting worse until AF shows up! So I can rule that one out as a symptom spot as i would literally have no idea

muddypuddlejumping · 18/12/2021 20:50

So I decided to try another ovulation sticks because I'd forgotten how addictive poas is 😆 and it's getting darker so reckon peak will be early tomorrow. Have managed to ddt this evening which is not easy with two other DC!
Definitely feeling the optimism of the first cycle, I wonder how long until that's beaten out of me!

Brunette1989 · 18/12/2021 21:13

Evening all,
Hope you're all OK.
I've been doing OPK's this month for the 1st time as this is TTC month 8 with 1 miscarriage in June. I've not hit my key time think it will be Christmas Eve, which isn't great with how busy things are.
Bit of a personal question but when it's your 5 days or so gow often do you DTD? When I look online some say every other day some say as many times as you possibly can? I know it was mentioned about 7, 11, 13,15 but my cycle has changed this month so I don't know if I'm 27 or 28 days. Just praying for a Christmas miracle really. Xx

Hello everyone.

I got my BFP last weekend so really I shouldn't be here but I wanted to leave you all a message.

Through the October, November and December threads I 'met' most of you here and couldn't have wished for my TTC journey to be with a nicer, more caring and supportive group of ladies.

I wish ALL of you happy and healthy pregnancies very soon (or when the time is right for you) and hope to see you all over on the pregnancy boards in 2022.

In the nicest possible way, I hope I don't have to rejoin the conception boards but if I did I know I would be in the very best company. Thank you for all your messages on the December thread and thank you for your unwaivering support across the boards.

Good luck, and baby dust to all xxx

madeleine85 · 18/12/2021 22:06

@Sunrise321 I had a similar thought this month as husband was traveling on my ovulation day. Found this chart which works back/forward from ovulation. Hope it helps!

@Brunette1989 welcome, and hope this time is luckier for you, sorry about your previous mc. There’s debate over dtd as much as possible (poor guys) and a lot of advice says to dtd every other day as otherwise it’s may result in immature sperm. I’m trying to do every other day or thereabouts, life gets in the way though. When I had dd we were once a week. So it just takes one lucky go. Good luck in your journey!

madeleine85 · 18/12/2021 22:07

Oops forgot the chart!

Hoping for BFP's in January! New year; new start! Who's with me!?
Shortmamashortcycles · 18/12/2021 22:10

@Brunette1989, @Sunrise321 - as someone who routinely tortured herself and her partner all through the 10 cycles it took to conceive our first...

There is no perfect DTD schedule. Folks get pregnant from doing it once 4 days before ovulation, some folks like doing it twice a day for 2 weeks (and hats off to them but yeesh that sounds exhausting.)

If you can do it a couple of times around your ovulation date, then you've given yourselves a good chance.

Having said that, the day before ovulation is slightly better than day of - just because the lil swimmers can live for a few days in your fallopian tubes and so when that egg pops, there'll probably be some of them waiting right there for it.

Sorry for the essay, but one pro-tip, don't get up after doing the do! Spend at least half an hour lying down - give gravity a hand! Wish I'd learned that earlier... 😉❤

Girls I thought my bleeding was stopped yesterday. Was brown blood but just spotting then today it started again bright red but still light so that's new for me. No idea when ovulation will be. Trying not to obsess 🙆🏼‍♀️

@Hopingforarainbow27 do you mind me asking how long you have been off birth control? That sounds a lot like my first cycle. It was so light I really thought it was implantation, but guess there just wasn’t much lining to get rid of. When did you ovulate the last cycle? My Premom app always projects 14 days even though I’m 20 🤦‍♀️

hotmeatymilk · 19/12/2021 08:02

Oh, well done your uterus, @Squiff70! Have a wonderful pregnancy.

@Shortmamashortcycles Ha, my username comes from this thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/4373349-Strange-catering-habits-you-have-experienced-when-eating-at-friends-family-houses

But I ought to change it because, while I love to troll around on AIBU being completely unreasonable, I largely use MN for sleep, relationships, gardening and property – all nice boards where no one needs kind advice and discussion from HOT MEATY MILK. Bleurgh.

muddypuddlejumping · 19/12/2021 09:26

@Sunrise321 definitely do the lying down afterwards (or legs cycling in the air! 😳😆)

It really is so hard when you've been trying many many months. My first was an almost instant conception. My second too an incredibly long time. They couldn't have been more different so who knows what number 3 will be like.

Hopingforarainbow27 · 19/12/2021 09:48

@madeleine85 I haven't been on birth control.. last cycle I got my peak on CD23.. it was the latest it's ever been!

Hi everyone, hope it's alright if I join in. I'm cycle 3 with TTC for baby number 2. I believe I'm 2 DPO today and AF is due new years day. I'm going to try my best not to test until then. Hopefully the festive period will keep my mind off things.

I feel on cycle 2 the first time so was sure it was going to be quick again. Managed to absolutely convince myself I was pregnant the last couple of TWWs only to get disappointed. Had all the symptoms too, cramping, spotting, nausea... So I'll try really hard not to let my body/mind outsmart me this time! 😅

Hope to see lots of BFP on this thread soon. Best of luck to all! 💐

ThePodParent · 19/12/2021 11:05

@Newbiemg and @RubyRainbows Great that we’ll hopefully find out around the same time! 🤞🏼

That being said, I now have no idea what my body is doing this month (probs no surprise really as this AF was my first one since my little one arrived and I’m still feeding bub three times a day, which might impact things)… I randomly thought I felt ovulation pains super early about CD7, then had EWCM for two days about CD14 (my norm pre pregnancy), did ovulation sticks but realised I didn’t leave them long enough to actually find out the result 🤦🏻‍♀️, then had a random day of EWCM again yesterday… but a negative ovulation thingy 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pre baby #1 I was wonderfully predictable and had a lovely 5-6 days of EWCM to warn me, resulting in being successful on the first try. Not this time! Ah well…. Being the first cycle, I’m very content to watch with interest to just see how things unfold. Might even see AF before NYE which would be a win on the wine front… silver linings?
