@PoleFairy @Sunrise321 I'm 32, so in the middle of you guys. TTC #1 so I completely understand both of you. Having had 2 miscarriages this year has just heightened my fear! Just want to get cracking with next month now

HeyFloof · 14/12/2021 14:09
@Bringonbaby3 should get the results in about 4 weeks.

Think my AF is on her way early after the biopsy which is good, means I'm closer to trying again next cycle! We're thinking of trying the SMEP method. Anyone tried this yet?
I've done SMEP with all of my pregnancies (5 total) and it definitely works as intended. I also use preseed, but not in the vast quantity that they suggest on the packet!

My OPKs have arrived, and I've dug my BBT thermometer out again. L-methylfolate purchased too. Just have to see if my cycle goes back to normal any time soon now after the shit show of the last 10 days.

@HeyFloof that's good to hear! I've never tried it before but sounds tiring 😂 just don't want to it make dtd seem routine. Will see how it goes, need to discuss it with my partner.

@Sunrise321 thank you. We started in February and got pregnant first time. We then miscarried on my birthday of all days but got pregnant again without having a period. But unfortunately lost that one as well. I think because we did it first time both times I expected it to continue being easy for us but it hasn't. I completed the miscarriage in June but it took 10 weeks for all my hormones to go back to normal so we probably had about 3 months before the nk cells tests trying and haven't had a sniff of a BFP since. Maybe the D&C had something to do with my lining or something 🤷🏻‍♀️ but we carry on!

Mushrooms0up · 14/12/2021 17:50

My DH has just tested positive for Covid so that’s scuppered all plans to DTD this week!

I’m now just hoping I don’t catch it….

arianasky · 14/12/2021 18:53

@Mushrooms0up oh no! I hope he's ok? Fingers crossed you don't catch it also

muddypuddlejumping · 14/12/2021 20:12

@Bringonbaby3 mine are 6 and 2. We debated for a while too but are going for it even though my youngest is a terrible sleeper and I work ft. Long term we really want another so I'm just really hoping the sleep improves! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Interesting that others aren't sure about the booster. I am a little concerned about changes to my cycle as I've only just come off the pill. I'm mid thirties too so age isn't on my side like it was 😬

Mushrooms0up · 14/12/2021 22:09

@arianasky thank you! So far he seems pretty ok just a bit full of a cold.

I’m keeping my distance!

PoleFairy · 14/12/2021 22:16

I've got my booster booked tomorrow. I'm a bit wary of getting it. I had my first jab whilst on the pill so no changes to cycle. Had my second jab in a tww so no changes to cycle. Having this one during my period so aware it could delay ovulation Confused so hard to know what to do but I'm sort of resigned to the fact it's not going to happen for us now and think I'll need help

I don’t have an appointment for my booster yet but will probably get it as soon as I’m able to. I didn’t realised that it could delay ovulation though, I didn’t notice anything after my first 2 vaccines but can’t remember when in my cycle I had them!
Does your cycle tend to go back to normal after that month though?

@PoleFairy I’m also thinking that it’s not going to happen for us without help, so I know the feeling. Maybe we’ll be surprised and get a BFP soon.

madeleine85 · 15/12/2021 04:29

Hi everyone, yes to a January thread! Our daughter gave us one hell of a winter vomiting bug followed straight away by a cold during ovulation week in December. Although I ended up getting my peak at a better time than originally thought, still convinced this cycles chances are low (dpo 2 now and still miserably sick) so 2022 here I come. The new year will be cycle 4 ttc #2.

To anyone worried about the booster I had one 2 cycles ago, I thought it delayed my ovulation but turns out it didn’t at all. It had absolutely no effects except making me feel crappy for a day. Very much recommend getting it.

To everyone on this who has a mc story/is struggling with ttc, I’m so sorry for your losses. I read the thread to catch up and it is so heartbreaking. Sending hugs, and wishes for a sticky bfp for you all in the new year ❤️❤️

Tinkerbell098 · 15/12/2021 05:21

Hi all, joining this thread from the December thread as I feel our chances for a BFP this month are pretty slim (I’ve been away during our FW). Currently CD26 and awaiting AF in the next couple of days.
I’ve had an internal scan done which seemed to be normal so just need a hycosy done to investigate my tubes. I’ll possibly be booking this privately in the new year as I’m getting no where on the NHS. Also have a fertility acupuncture session booked in the new year as I’ve heard positive things.
Wishing everyone that 2022 will bring us lots of luck and baby dust to all xx

ThePodParent · 15/12/2021 07:49

Morning! I’d like to join you all this month :)

We’re TTC #2 and are on cycle 1. I reckon we’ll know around Jan 3rd/4th.

With our first little one (now 8.5 months old), I followed a series of threads all the way through from TTC to birth, but didn’t say hello, so I’m excited to join in this time!

Good luck to everyone this month 🤞🏼🍀 x

PoleFairy · 15/12/2021 08:04

Thanks @rubyrainbows I was definitely feeling negative yesterday after having to book jab but going to focus on being more positive this month. I'm very similar to my mum biologically (is that a thing lol? We started periods at same age, similar body shape etc.) And she never just "fell" pregnant. Had 3 happy healthy pregnancies (2 in her 20s and 1 in her 40s!) but had to try for them and always took close to a year so I'm just thinking I'm someone who has picky eggs too lol

hotmeatymilk · 15/12/2021 08:05

Morning all! Getting my booster tomorrow at midday – and judging from OPK’s will hopefully ovulate tonight or maybe tomorrow morning… feel like a Jack Bauer race against the clock to ovulate before booster!

I know in theory all the literature says the jabs have no effect on fertility etc, but in practice I was grossly ill after both jabs and illness does have an impact on ovulation. And it’s not like science historically focuses on women’s needs so while I want to believe there’s no correlation between the jab and cycles, I also trust all the women’s voices reporting… the impact. Not temping this time, I’ll go mad, so just have to trust in the OPK stick and shouting “hurry up” to my uterus

Decaffe · 15/12/2021 08:12

All three jabs brought my ovulation forwards in the cycle after each jab. The booster actually brought ovulation forward to CD9 last month, meaning an immature egg, so that was annoying.

Anyway, checking in to say hi! Smile I had two ovulation dates in December but I’m FRER BFN at 12DPO on the first one so I now have everything crossed for the second one.

Due to being with family over Christmas, we will be able to DTD up to and including the morning of the 24th but then won’t be able to until the evening of the 27th. So I am crossing everything my ovulation is indeed back to normal and will be either the 30th/31st rather than early again!!

Hopingforarainbow27 · 15/12/2021 09:05

My period came today, finally! Longest cycle ever!
So new start for me!!

Approx 11dpo today, felt a bit pulled muscle like in my pelvis yesterday and this morning, just like twangs and if I moved in a funny way it felt like pulling. Reading into it too much!!

AF due tomorrow or Friday, I’m CD25 today and my cycles usually are 26days but looking over later few months and range 23-27 which I assume is off the back of booster jab in September

KateInHappyland · 15/12/2021 10:23

Cycle 2 here!

Currently on CD3 and enduring AF's rage. Apps are predicting my fertile window to be 24th - 29th December, will be using OPKs around then to make sure.

We're away over Christmas, leaving on the 24th, so hoping to DTD on the 23rd and 24th just in case we can't manage it, but I'm hoping we'll be able to keep on trying.

Next AF due 11th Jan so will be testing around then!

arianasky · 15/12/2021 10:48

Morning all, so good to hear peoples vaccine/booster experience, awful morning this morning, I had an email from my HR team to book in a 2nd maternity assessment as I'd be 26 weeks now they know I lost the baby and my manager is so angry with them. Really caught me this morning 😔 sorry to rant.

Newbiemg · 15/12/2021 10:49

Day 5 of flashing smileys for me today. Starting to hate that flashing face lol. I did start testing too early though and this is CD10 for me which I think is the day a lot of people do their first test.

I started testing at CD5 because I took period delay tablets which I’m really kicking myself for now because today would be CD15 for me if I hadn’t and according to Flo app 1dpo. Nevermind!

I have no other symptoms that’s making me think I’m ovulating today or tomorrow. No ewcm or pains and I usually get a bad headache the day before so I think I have a few more days of flashing smileys to come yet Smile

@ThePodParent My Af should be due around 3rd/4th Jan too according to Flo app so I should be finding out at the same time as you. Also on cycle 1 of ttc but ttc #1

RubyRainbows · 15/12/2021 15:15

@PoleFairy it’s good that you’re trying to think positively - even though it’s easier said than done! I’m trying to do the same, especially as it’s Christmas and want to enjoy as much as possible!

@ThePodParent @Newbiemg also AF due around 3rd Jan, I do spot for up to 7 days before though so may know I’m out a bit before that.

So sad to hear about many of your stories/losses but also so nice to see how kind and supportive people are on here 😊

MindZGap · 15/12/2021 15:45

To add to the booster chat, my first dose brought my period on immediately about 10 days early it was wild. As someone said, anything that affects your immune system can also affect your cycle although it's temporary it can be annoying. But definitely better than having covid which also messes with your cycle.

I've got my booster tomorrow but already on my period so hoping it won't affect things too much!

It seems like everyone I know is getting covid at the moment so really hoping I avoid it, at least before Christmas.
