Hello Smile

As title says ttc #1, cycle 1, 30 yo. I got my 1st flashing smiley this morning on the CB test.

Thought it would be nice to hear from other ladies in a similar position.

I’m confused what CD this is for me. I have another full thread on this so won’t rewrite it here but if anyone can help me on that thread (title: my first ever flashing smiley please help) I’d be grateful as I’m very confused. This may be CD10 for me or may be CD5 Confused

How are your new journeys going? Smile

@Newbiemg I definitely find temping reassuring for confirming ovulation, even if it is a bit of a pain to do every day.

CrazyCatLady95 · 02/01/2022 20:49

Got my first positive opk today - tested this morning and negative, then tested around 4.30pm and great big positive!! In peoples experience how long does it take before ovulation? Or I suppose you never really know? CD15 today

Newbiemg · 03/01/2022 11:42

@CrazyCatLady95 I read that it can take between 12-48 hours to ovulate from peak opk but sometimes as much as 72 hours.

A lot of people think you only have 12 hours though so not sure which is correct.

I would say perhaps it’s towards the lower end for most people 12-24 hours.

Last cycle I got positive opks for 3 days in a row but I’m not sure if that was incorrect as seems long and I got AF.

Sounds like you caught your peak at the start as you were negative this morning and positive this afternoon.

I would say if you can dtd today and tomorrow Smile Lots of luck!

CrazyCatLady95 · 03/01/2022 12:01

Thanks @Newbiemg. That's what I read to but it's so hard to know for sure! Another positive opk today. Couldn't dtd yesterday due to opposite shifts but dtd this morning and think will try again before OH goes to work tonight. Then try again tomorrow morning hopefully! I think last time I predicted my ovulation wrong and didn't dtd at the right time so hoping to avoid that this time! Last time I went off my ovulation pain but I've read that that can come when LH surges so I'm trying to not pay too much attention to that this cycle.

HelloPippa · 04/01/2022 09:43

@CrazyCatLady95 I would guess for me it’s about 2 days once I have the surge to when I actually ovulate (based on temp). It’s hard to know though, I think my surge is very short. I usually miss it if I don’t test multiple times a day and even then the test line has never been darker than the control. I was trying to also go off the EWCM but then didn’t really get any this month - helpful! Who knows 😂

CrazyCatLady95 · 04/01/2022 11:33

Thanks @HelloPippa. I haven't been temping which I'm kicking myself for now because it would be useful to know when ovulation happens! Had positive opk on Sunday plus EWCM that evening. Dtd Saturday but was unable on Sunday so did Monday morning and Monday evening. Unable to today so I'm hoping we timed it right 😞 very unfortunate timing for us as we're on opposite shifts. Now for the 2WW, going to try and not test beforehand but we all know how it goes 😂

Newbiemg · 04/01/2022 18:29

I’ve realised I’m very impatient lol. Waiting for AF to end and feels like forever and then I know I’ll be waiting for my peak and then the tww….it’s like when you watch the kettle boil and feels like it takes much longer because you’re watching it haha

OP posts:
CrazyCatLady95 · 04/01/2022 18:54

Yes definitely! Actually having AF over my holiday was not too bad because it seemed to go very quick! My AF is usually like a week or longer so by the time it was all fully over it was not too long until I could start testing with OPKs! Then only a few more days until a positive. I think the 2WW is the worst because you could actually be pregnant but it's just not knowing and the anxiety of AF potentially coming! Back to work now so hoping it will all go quicker than last month! Fingers crossed for us all!

5manc · 04/01/2022 23:41

Hi 👋 I'm on CD 8 cycle 2 ttc #1. Turning 30 in March so I'm torn between really wanting to get pregnant but if I do everyone will know straight away when I'm not drinking especially as I've always said I want a big party haha! How is everyone? Im not using opks as trying to take a relaxed approach but not sure how long that will last! X

Newbiemg · 05/01/2022 09:30

@CrazyCatLady95 agreed the tww is deffo the toughest. Hope it goes quick for you too and you get your bfp! Flowers

Welcome @slmanc Smile Cycle 2 for me too on CD5 waiting for AF to finish usually it lasts 7 days for me.

Do you have regular cycles? If you do a relaxed approach at first is a good idea puts less pressure on you. Lots of luck this cycle Flowers

Is anyone taking seven seas trying for a baby?

I started taking them this cycle. I’ve only taken them for 3 days as I was taking different folic acid before. I’m wondering if they messed up your cycle or AF at all?

My AF seems different. I’m used to having quite heavy AF about 7 days long. This time is light and more watery. Like pinky watered down. I’m waiting for it to start in full force but it hasn’t yet.

I did do a test as I was hoping for a miracle but bfn and I don’t think there’s a possibility I’m pregnant as it would be a very clear bfp by now if I was. I do think I’ve got my AF for sure but it’s different. Wondering if it’s the supplements.

I’m doing so many new things in these ttc cycles I feel like maybe I’m just confusing myself lol

HelloPippa · 05/01/2022 13:37

@Newbiemg For sure I have read others saying prenatals disrupted their cycles. I have taken the Terra Nova ones for ~6 months (since before TTC - overprepared clearly) and haven’t noticed a difference cycle wise.

5manc · 05/01/2022 21:44

Thanks @Newbiemg 😊 yeah, usually around 27/28 days! Good luck to you too!

Absolutely agree about the wait, I swear it's just one big waiting game haha. I was fine for my last cycle as it was Christmas but what else is there to look forward to in January... 😂 x

Newbiemg · 06/01/2022 10:47

I know 😂 it would be amazing if we could all get our bfp in January!

I stopped taking the seven seas and my AF came properly today not sure why it started differently and if that’s linked or not but hoping it still finishes in the next day or 2.

My Flo app is telling me that I’ll be ovulating on CD17 this cycle (last cycle I ovulated CD14 I think that’s just based on opks not temping). If Flo is correct then that will be 17/01. So should finish tww right at the very end of Jan.

Are you tracking ovulation on any apps at all @slmanc Smile

Hey 👋🏻
Glad I’ve found this, I turn 30 in May and was going to hold out TTC until after so I could have a drink on holiday. But I’m too impatient and I’ll be in the Dom Rep anyway so won’t need a drink lol. This is my first full cycle since coming off the implant earlier this year then the pill.

I’m on CD5 and AF has finally departed. I’ve got the ovulation tests coming today and seven seas. I’m still not great with all the acronyms on these posts ha!

Let’s do this together girls 🤞🏻 X

HelloPippa · 06/01/2022 12:22

@SMD16 welcome! VERY jealous of your holiday. You’ll be amazed at how fast you start using the acronyms 😂

I’m in the TWW (9DPO - days post ovulation, CD24) but had some definite AF cramp vibes this morning which normally happens about a day before it starts. Natural Cycles app is saying my current cycle is going to be 26 days although I’ve never recorded once less than 28 before 🤷‍♀️ Might explain why I ovulated earlier than usual (CD15 versus 18/19). At least I’ll be able to test sooner but not feeling good about those period cramps!

SMD16 · 06/01/2022 13:11

@HelloPippa hey and thank you!

I’ve been trying to work out what TWW means for ages and I still can’t 😂 good luck and not long to wait now to test!

Newbiemg · 06/01/2022 13:14

Welcome @SMD16 Smile also very jealous of your holiday!

Some acronyms if it helps you or anyone else who may join (I only know these ones lol);

TTC- Trying to conceive
CD- cycle day
AF - Aunt flow/period
DTD- Do the deed/sex
DPO- Days post ovulation
OH/DH- Other half/husband/partner
DC/DD/DS- Child, daughter, son
EWCM/CM- Egg white cervical mucus/cervical mucus
BFP- Positive pregnancy test
BFN- Negative pregnancy test
OPK- Ovulation predictor kit/Test
EPO- Evening primrose oil
TWW- Two week wait (the time after ovulation before you can usually take a pregnancy test or AF comes).

I’m on CD6 so similar to you but my AF is still here and think it may stay a day or two more. Sending you lots of luck this cycle Flowers

@HelloPippa hope your tww hasn’t felt too long! Fingers crossed for you that those aren’t period cramps and you get your bfp Smile

@Newbiemg thank you so so much!! I’ll probably forget to use some but hey ho!

Newbiemg · 06/01/2022 14:21

@SMD16 lol it’s no problem if you do! You can use the abbreviations or the real terms whatever is easier for you. I think they’re just supposed to make it quicker to type or maybe some people think using some of the real words is tmi not really sure but I think we are a safe space in this chat so nothing is tmi lol just here to help each others journey easier Smile

@Newbiemg I know what you mean, DTD looks better then did the deed 😂 waiting patiently for my sticks to arrive today and the supplements. Hurry up Mr Amazon driver!

Newbiemg · 06/01/2022 15:21

😂 which sticks did you get?

I was using the Clear blue digital ones last cycle. Not sure if you’ve seen them but they show a smiley face at your peak rather than lines. I thought it would be easier to read but they were abit off for me so this cycle I ordered some sticks off Amazon too with lines so I’m going to use those and then confirm with the CB maybe as I have some left.

OP posts:
Newbiemg · 06/01/2022 15:22

I used line ones too last cycle but I started using them late and I got some better ones this cycle so fingers crossed they work well!

OP posts:
SMD16 · 06/01/2022 16:01

@Newbiemg I got the One Step ones as they were cheap for me to get used to it haha!

I’m tight so didn’t want to pay out for the clear blue ones straight away 😂
