Hello Smile

As title says ttc #1, cycle 1, 30 yo. I got my 1st flashing smiley this morning on the CB test.

Thought it would be nice to hear from other ladies in a similar position.

I’m confused what CD this is for me. I have another full thread on this so won’t rewrite it here but if anyone can help me on that thread (title: my first ever flashing smiley please help) I’d be grateful as I’m very confused. This may be CD10 for me or may be CD5 Confused

How are your new journeys going? Smile

So I found a thermometer (had to double check it was a human one and not one for the pooches🤣🤣🤣) in the house and thought I'll start tracking BBT, a bit late I'm guessing since I'm CD13 but result was 96.98f, is that normal for this time of my cycle?

I'm going to carry on tracking this now too as well as my strips. What should I be looking for with these results if someone doesn't mind explaining xx

lakejupiter · 23/01/2022 01:17

Hi @Pops100 - to track your bbt you can download an app (fertility friend seems to be everyone's fave, it's free) and take your temp every day at the same time as soon as you've woken up, before you've moved or spoken. And the put the data into the app each day. It's not about specific temps as such (we're all a bit different) more about the temperature fluctuations you have during your cycle that will confirm ovulation, predict period or possible pregnancy etc. You can start now in the middle of your cycle but it might be a bit late for the app to recognise when you've ovulated etc - would still be useful to track it though!

I do mine at 7am each day as that's when I wake up for work stuff. I keep it on the bedside table and just grab it and stick it under my tongue when my alarm goes off. Sometimes like this morning I go back to sleep afterwards but it does always need to be at the same time each morning, after at least 4 hours of sleep and before you have moved or spoken to be accurate

lakejupiter · 23/01/2022 01:22

@Pops100 here is my Fertility Friend chart for this month if it helps - it’s my first month doing it so i fucked a couple of things up but the vertical line is when I ovulated and after ovulation you see a temp rise for the second half of the month.

I used the Amazon first response tests too and some other cheaper ones that all had lines - so they should be ok. Woke up in the middle of the night with really bad cramping for about 15 minutes so slightly worrying! AF due tomorrow/Tuesday so praying it stays away!

@lakejupiter let us know any updates after your faint lines! Hope AF stays away for you too!

@Pickles91 aww congratulations! Hope you have an amazing wedding day and an even better honeymoon 🤞😂 xx

Pops100 · 23/01/2022 12:03

@lakejupiter thank you!! It's good to see the temp drop Will make sure I stick to it next cycle, will have to make sure I set an alarm every morning 🤣

Pickles91 · 23/01/2022 17:05

Catching up!

Oh maybe we can test together @SMD16!

Thank you @5manc! It’s coming up quickly. Hopefully the cramping is just little peanut snuggling in ready for the next 8 months!

Pops100 · 23/01/2022 17:27

I'm going into town tomorrow to get one of those clear blue Opk tests as they seem more reliable than the strip tests. Due to ovulate tomorrow but no increase on my tests yet so will test the rest of my cycle with the clear blue one🤨

RMS0209 · 23/01/2022 17:36

@Pops100 watch with the clear blue I think it always takes the first urine in a new test as a negative! X I use the purple one but wonder if the pink one would be better with just 2 smiley days ??

Newbiemg · 23/01/2022 18:44

@Pops100 I use both the clear blue and the line ones together.

I always get lots of days of flashing smileys before I get my peak static smiley (8/9 days of flashing) which means one box isn’t enough test strips for me I have to get two. Just something to be aware of as you won’t know how many flashing days you get yet.

Usually the first time I use the test I get a black circle (negative) and then it will stay blank circles until it detects a rise in oestrogen and then I start getting flashing smileys and then when it detects LH surge I get the peak static smiley.

But once I took the test first time and I already had my LH surge and it straight away was a peak static smiley (no flashing, no blank circle).

The line OPKs match up with my clear blue. When Ive had my static peak smiley I have also had a positive line opk.

Don’t rely on the apps because they aren’t accurate at predicting your ovulation day. I’ve tracked my cycles on an app for 3 cycles and it’s never predicted my ovulation correctly any of the times but I have got my peak all 3 times on line opk and clear blue.

I think it’s likely the app that isn’t accurate not your tests.

What CD are you on? Do you know the length of your cycles and if they’re regular?

I like using both types of test as I feel like I get extra confirmation Smile

@Pickles91 when were you planning on testing?

SMD16 · 23/01/2022 18:56

@Newbiemg

Hope everyone’s having a lovely weekend Smile
Lovely thank you @Newbiemg took the dog on a new walk today, poor mutt was tired after an hour haha! Hope you are too.
Pickles91 · 23/01/2022 18:59

@SMD16 AF is due on the 31st/1st so I think a first test on Friday wouldn’t be too unreasonable!

SMD16 · 23/01/2022 19:01

Ooh okay @Pickles91 if I don't hold out until Friday I do apologise! I've been so tired the last few days and my back is aching today. Who knows could be symptoms or could be the weather ha!

Pops100 · 23/01/2022 19:02

@Newbiemg thank you! Yeah I'll do the same test with both , then decide if I'm unlucky this cycle which one I prefer. I have no idea about my cycles as been off the pill only in December so currently trying to work my body out, I am glad I had my af this month though and hoping I still do ovulate and my body isn't too messed up .

I'm on CD 13 so still got time for ovulation, I just am such a control freak I want to make sure I know where im at, like if im really in my fertile window currently or not, so even if I get flashing smileys on the clear blue at least I know I'm going somewhere if that makes sense ? 🤔

RMS0209 · 23/01/2022 19:03

@Newbiemg hope you have had a nice weekend too

@SMD16 @Pickles91 lots of luck to you ladies testing when it's time SmileGrin x

Pops100 · 23/01/2022 19:03

@RMS0209 oh really ? Wonder why that is🤔 I'll have a look in the shop tomorrow which ones they've got! Can you buy re fills for them? Or do you have to get a whole new box when they run out? X

RMS0209 · 23/01/2022 19:05

@Pops100 from reading @Newbiemg I could be wrong! That was something I read on here I believe. So don't listen to me! Smile

Newbiemg · 23/01/2022 19:07

@Pops100 you have to get a new box I think but if anyone does find refills let me know lol

@SMD16 haha aww hope she liked her new walk.

Yes lots of luck for testing ladies! Smile

Newbiemg · 23/01/2022 19:17

@Pops100 I was also exactly the same this cycle. I was worrying I was never going to get my peak. My app said I was due to ovulate on CD14 but on CD13 my opks were all still low. They stayed quite low until suddenly on CD16 I got my peak. If that makes you feel any better Smile

OP posts:
Pickles91 · 23/01/2022 19:27

Haha I won’t hold it against you @SMD16!! I would be testing even earlier if I could.

So clearblue may be the way to go next month, ey? They’re just so expensive! I can’t quite believe it. I may hold out with cheapies alone until after the wedding and then invest

SMD16 · 23/01/2022 19:31

See my app said cycle day 16 for me predicted and then with OPK's it ended up being CD13. Which was annoying as 16 was a Monday, 13 was a Friday. DTD in the week is a chore sometimes when works manic haha.

Managed to get the OH run me a bath, puppy dog eyes were shown. Hopefully ir helps the back pain.

Only sometimes @RMS0209. He's a plumber and I got a new radiator for the bathroom at the end of November. Only today have I convinced him to take the old one off to fit the new one tomorrow 😂😂
