@ChinChilly I'm so sorry to hear about your grandad. I'm hope it doesn't clash either for you and that you're also able to keep cool this week in the heat

ChinChilly · 09/07/2022 20:05

@MissC07 I know, I hoping she makes her exit soon, seriously uncomfortable at this stage! Apparently she’s not small either the last growth scan I had this week estimated her at 8lb 1 😯 how are you getting on?

Tillybabs · 10/07/2022 00:02

I haven't been in this thread for a while but check it now and then. @ChinChilly omg I can't believe you are nearly due! Time flies. I hope all goes well 🙏🏽

MissC07 · 10/07/2022 13:50

@ChinChilly eeeek so exciting she's grown so much too! I hope you're managing to stay in the shade today 😰 I'm doing ok thank you, 17 weeks now. At the stage where I'm starting to show a bit now too.

ChinChilly · 11/07/2022 23:07

@Tillybabs ahh thank you! How are you?!?

@MissC07 wow 17 weeks already, are going to/have you found of the sex of baby? It’s such a nice stage where your just starting to get a cute bump. I currently resembles a beached whale 😂

Tillybabs · 12/07/2022 07:26

@ChinChilly I'm good. I'm currently on a modified long downregulation for 3 months to suppress my adenomyosis before a transfer attempt. I'm on week 6 and no side effects so far 🤞🏽

MissC07 · 12/07/2022 23:18

@ChinChilly yes we're definitely going to find out as-long as baby plays ball at the scan in 2 weeks! My first scan it just slept the whole time!! Hope things cool down for you before the birth!!

ChinChilly · 22/07/2022 07:23

@Tillybabs ahh exciting you haven’t got long to wait now then. My mom was recently diagnosed with Adenomyosis.. it’s really not much fun!

@MissC07 Amazing! How exciting please let us know if your have a boy or girl! I’m obsessed with gender/sex reveals lol

Baby Amelia was born on Wednesday 20th July at 21:01 via emergency c-section weighing 9lb 3oz 😱.
Labour started on Monday morning contractions 10 mins apart so I had some paracetamol and stayed at home, everything slowed right down Tuesday morning but I was due to see my midwife at lunchtime for a sweep so I had that done and that ramped things up quickly so headed to hospital Tuesday evening. When I got here they tried to send me home as I was only 3cm even though I was contracted 4 in 10 and was in agony at this point.
I went for a walk around the hospital, waited for the meds they had given me to kick in to see if I felt more comfortable but the pain was just getting worse so I went back and they finally admitted me as I had gone up to 5cm.
Once I had got into my own room and some gas and air I was much more comfortable but with all the faffing at the hospital first I’d allowed myself to get dehydrated and that slowed everything down again so after lots of water things got going again…fast forward to Wednesday morning and back to contractions every 2 mins I was only 6cm. Baby’s head was tilted and so wasn’t able to move down as effectively with each contraction.
They allowed me to carry on for 4 more hours to try dilate more and after 4 hours I was still 6cm! I was so upset I lost the plot abit! The doctors advised I had an epidural and the hormone drip to see if that helped but ultimately baby needed to un-tilt her head and well she’s always been a stubborn madam!
I was absolutely terrified of the epidural but once it kicked it I was able to actually rest for abit. Obviously missy didn’t move her head and Wednesday evening doctors decided they couldn’t leave me the way I was anymore and I needed to go down for an emergency c-section and that was that!

We’re both still in hospital and baby has spent 2 nights in NICU needing a little bit of help with oxygen but she is doing well and hoping to be moved to a transitional care ward together today.

Tillybabs · 22/07/2022 07:34

@ChinChilly tbh I don't have any major symptoms of it other than 2 days of heavy bleeding when I have my period. But it definitely affects my ability to get pregnant for sure.

Anyway, Congratulations! Omg it sounds like you had a rough time and during the hottest days of the year. But it was worth it all.

Sorry that you are both still in hospital but you will be home before you know or. How are you feeling? She's a healthy weight isn't she. Beautiful name too xx

MissC07 · 22/07/2022 07:54

@ChinChilly Congratulations!! I hope you're recovering ok, sounds like an ordeal especially in the heat 😰 Gorgeous name! I hope you get to go home soon too. Will def keep you posted on Tues with my scan results xx

ChinChilly · 22/07/2022 08:00

@Tillybabs my mom didn’t have any symptoms until she stopped taking the pill during her menopause, then it was the heavy painful bleeding, but my mom and dad only ever had one baby and it took 18 months for them to conceive me so maybe that had a part to play.

@Tillybabs @MissC07 the recovery is tough but I’m not even 36 hours in so I have to remind myself of that sometimes and stop expecting too much of myself. I’m not sure where I was hiding a 9lb 3 baby, my bump was tiny and was sent for several growth scans based on that 😂 I expected 8lb something but I nearly fell off the bed when she said 9lb 3 😂 my advice to you both is don’t buy too many tiny cute clothes 😂

Tillybabs · 22/07/2022 08:18

@ChinChilly that sucks that she not only has/had to deal with menopause and heavy periods! What is women go through

Oh dear 😂 I will bear that in mind. I guess you were all baby then your bump. Im sure you will recover quickly but it's all worth it xx

ChinChilly · 22/07/2022 08:24

@Tillybabs I know, we do get the rough end of the deal! I think my OH has a new respect for women after watching me for labouring for 3 days 😂 I must of been and apparently the more babies you have they get bigger 😱 so IF we have another I’ll be going straight for elective c-section I think

Juno231 · 22/07/2022 11:58

@ChinChilly congratulations! Wow I can't believe she was over 9lbs! Sorry to hear her head position wasn't optimal for vaginal birth - getting the brunt of both c section and vaginal labour can't be fun! Hope you recover quickly and that Amelia is latching on nicely?

ChinChilly · 22/07/2022 15:16

@Juno231 Definitely wasn’t much fun! I only got chance to try breast feeding once before she was whipped off to neonatal originally she was nil by mouth, then they were feeding using bottles now she’s back to nil by mouth! The plan was to moved to transitional care today then home but little missy had other ideas and had a blip this morning so she’s back on the oxygen. They’re talking about discharging me today so I’ll be leaving without baby ☹️ Which just feels so alien

MissC07 · 22/07/2022 17:31

@ChinChilly Oh no I'm so sorry to hear that, I hope she's out of neo-natal soon and able to come home with you

@Juno231 How are you getting on?

Mummysparrow · 23/07/2022 14:32

Come on to Mumsnet to post and noticed some notifications on this post. So glad to hear you have had your little girl @ChinChilly congratulations
How are you finding motherhood? I spent the first few weeks exhausted and unable to move after the c section

ChinChilly · 23/07/2022 15:53

@Mummysparrow Hi, the first few days of motherhood have been abit odd, baby is still in intensive care and is abit up and down still so it’s all abit odd at the moment just trying to focus on getting her home now.

Mummysparrow · 24/07/2022 20:18

@ChinChilly hopefully she is home soon. Do they know what is causing the blips? X

Kay00 · 25/07/2022 20:50

Ahh, how lovely 😍 congratulations @ChinChilly and what a beautiful name xx I hope she moves out of intensive care soon, and I hope you make a quick recovery following your C-Section xxx

MissC07 · 26/07/2022 14:39

@ChinChilly Hope you are recovering ok and Amelia is getting stronger.

Had my 20 week scan today and it's a boy 💙 Although I have to go back in 1-2 weeks as they couldn't get the heart measurements as he was lying in the most awkward position and refused to move the right way!

ChinChilly · 26/07/2022 18:53

@Mummysparrow @Kay00 @MissC07 We finally made it home! Her hospital notes say suspected sepsis and they told us a chest infection but she’s done her course of antibiotics and her infection markers are down so we were released at about 9.30 last night!

@MissC07 ahh a boy how lovely! And another chance to see him again in a week or two’s time

MissC07 · 26/07/2022 21:32

@ChinChilly So glad you made it home ok, hope she continues to keep getting better and you're recovering/feeling ok after your csection

Kay00 · 26/07/2022 23:03

@MissC07 how lovely! A boy 😍

@ChinChilly I'm really pleased to hear you are home, that must be a lovely feeling xx

mrsmacmc · 14/08/2022 23:17

@ChinChilly congratulations and I hope you are all doing well

@MissC07 hope he's behaving for you 🥰
