@ChinChilly @MissC07 sorry if I'm not remembering your history right, missc07, but the EPU won't scan you unless you have a repeat history of early miscarriage or you have symptoms that suggest something is wrong.

At your booking in appt (approx between 8 and 10 weeks) they'll give you a scan date.

Give you a scan date for the 12 week scan I mean. The only way to get an earlier scan without that history or worrying symptoms is to pay privately

@TheDaydreamBelievers Thank you. I think I'll wait it out if I'm patient enough, will see what the GP says on Thurs! All a bit confusing as I have no idea what week I am because of my PCOS.

@ChinChilly so glad your sickness has worn off!

@MissC07 I had a private scan at 10+5 and it was 10000% worth the money. We got to hear the heartbeat which you don't get at the nhs scans and they spend more time showing you things making sure they get you a nice picture etc... my EPU scans were very much in and out, its still there, its grown as it should have and the heart is still beating..off you pop.. which is obviously still reassuring.

@ChinChilly Oooh I might get one then. Stupid Q... but can I just pick a private clinic and book one? Because I'm not sure how far I am I don't want to go too early 🙈

@MissC07 Yep, you can just book one and they'll do the measurements and give you a date based on that. Alot of places won't do any before 6-7 but if you explain they'll still book you in and probs bring you bacn in 2 weeks if its too early...Warning it will probs be an internal scan!

@MissC07 I had a private one at 8 weeks - just Google an ultrasound clinic near you, they're well worth the money! I do think you'd be entitled to go to EPU because of your pcos/not knowing how far along you might be but I think you'd need a GP referral in most places?

Looking at your chart I'd say CD26 was ovulation day?

@MissC07 for me I was offered the '12 week scan' based on LMP then they did it again 2 weeks later as it turned out to be a 10 week scan (which I knew but they always do it off of LMP). It was the main scanning dept that did both.

Congratulations @MissC07 that's absolutely amazing news. I hope this doesn't upset you but i think this baby was meant to be and a present from your mum ❤ so incredibly precious

@ChinChilly So I haven't booked one yet as I know this sounds stupid but because I don't know how far along I am I don't want to waste their time. My last AF was 8th March.... maybe I'll book one for 2 weeks time?

@MissC07 If your last AF was 8th March the midwife/doctor will date you from then even if you know you're not that far they won't change it until you've had your first scan so I reckon your 12 week dating scan will be end of May/beginning of June if you can wait that long.
My friend had the same with her last pregnancy she knew she ovulated late but they always go by LMP so when she went for her 12 weeks scan she was only 10 weeks but they just rebooked her for 2 weeks afterwards.

@ChinChilly I think I'll book a private scan. I'm still waiting to hear about my booking appointment. I self referred as soon as I found out so I'm hoping I hear something this week. Not that that'll change anything scan wise. I just feel a bit in limbo like I've found out and then nothing happens.

@MissC07 I get it, I was on my 4th scan by the time it came to my 12 week dating scan 🤣 I think it all depends on your trust but my midwife called me the next day after I told my GP.. just as an acknowledgement I think then I had my booking appointment a week or so later my scan date came through pretty quickly aswell. I'm not sure if my history had something to do with it all happening quickly though.

@ChinChilly booked my private scan for next Thurs Spookily then got an email from my midwife 1 hour later confirming my booking appt for the end of May. So definitely glad I booked a private one!!

@ChinChilly all went well! I'm measuring 9 weeks at the moment so could also listen to the heartbeat. All feels a bit more real now, although still obviously very early days.

Glad to hear things so far are going well @MissC07 . That's at least the first hurdle ticked
