TTC 4th baby at 39

Hi girls,

I am so frustrated. I’ve been trying to conceive my fourth since feb. All 28-35 day cycles and no joy: this last cycle has been 45 days so far with me ovulating on cd32. Pregnancy test is negative today 😭 the doctor is not interested but has said he will test to see if I’m peri menopausal. I conceived first month with my other three. This is a new partner but he has a child so I don’t get what the problem is. Sorry I just needed to rant to someone who may understand x

Hi @Sunnytimes21 41 is young. I know someone who had their first at 42. We have all got this! I’m waiting to ovulate. On day 16 today so should be soon 🤞🏻 So glad you’re job is going well x

@Monicatatie I’ve read that article, it’s really reassuring isn’t it? I need all the reassurance I can get. I feel like I now know I can get pregnant but can I keep it? And because I got pregnant before does that mean I’m more likely to get pregnant again? Ahhhhhhh I hate the unknown, I wish someone could say to me stop stressing: it will happen you just have to wait. But they can’t and I just have to wait and see what life holds I guess x

Hi @Sunnytimes21 - You are not old at all! I totally agree with the sex being so much better when it isn't to "make a baby" - the pressure is too much!

I did something naughty yesterday and booked a holiday for April 2022 (BA have a sale and it would be rude not to)! - I figured, if we get pregnant, I can reschedule it, but if not - then at least we have something to look forward to!

Trying to cover all eventualities but i'm already uhmming and ahhing as I want this 4th baby so much but keep telling myself I am a nutter for doing it to myself!

Hi everyone, sorry for being absen , started a new job this week so it’s been a bit mental. I got let go from my old work last month after been furloughed for so long. Absolutely the worst time ttc but oh well 🙈😂

@msanne Oh bloody hell, what a nightmare with your test 😭 That’s so upsetting . Just been reading through, am I right in thinking you’re just gonna give it one more try this month?

@Monicatatie how was your night out? Coming home early sounds ideal, honestly I’d rather go out early & come home early, I can’t hack late nights anymore. Where are you up to in your cycle? Is period due yet? I’ll have a read of that article when I get in bed.

@Hopetobeamumof4 how are you getting on? No the husband hasn’t sorted pots out yet ffs 🙈 He got a pot from our local doctors but the hospital who do the sperm tests didn’t accept it as it wasn’t in one of their pots. Massive ball ache having to get to the hospital, it’s miles away. I told hubby he will have to do it in the back of his work van in the hospital car park to save on all the travelling 🙈🤣🤣

My son has suddenly developed the attitude of a teenager this week, stressing me out. He’s normally so cute & loving but this week he’s like 6 going on 16. I don’t know if it’s because he’s back in school or what but I’m tired of raising my voice to him, I’ve actually had to take time out & have a bubble bath whilst the husband puts him to bed. Never have to shout at him normally 😩

Congrats on the new job @jellybean55 ! Hope you have a good first week. Ahh sorry you had to scout at your son, a bit of shouting now and again wont cause any harm. I also feel like my soon to be 8 year old developed some sort of attitude since going back. I'm sure it will all settle again.
Oh what a headache, and all this for a pot! It made me laugh picturing your husband in the back of his work van 🤣
The night out was okay, it was more like an afternoon out 🤣🤣 ahhh I'm so lame these days. I was sober (because I drank so slowly) when I got home so decided to prepare for the interview I had on monday 🤓 as to ttc, im just finishing my af but unsure I'll ttc this month. What about you, are you in the tww yet?
The interview went well @msanne but I dont know who I was up against. I just hope they will let me know asap as I hate the waiting ! If I get the job, I wont ttc this month as the starting date is like a month away. By the way, do you ladies know if I can still get maternity pay on a fixed contract? I keep wondering, in case I do get the job.
Where did you book your holiday? Definitely a great idea to have something to look forward to, but I'm confident you will be pregnant by then.

@Hopetobeamumof4 it will happen, you just have to wait 😊 there's no reason why it wouldn't, the article said so 😅. I've heard of some ladies saying they take baby aspirin , have you ever considered it?

I’m not in 2WW yet, I’m due to ovulate on Monday I think, so I’m planning do as much sex as I can even if it kills me 🙈 xz

Yes @jellybean55 - we are going to give it one last try this month (but properly) and see if a baby sticks...i'm still on quite a heavy AF which should last another couple of days, then I'm going to dtd every other day at a minumum (or so I say hahaha)! As for a teeny 6 year old - I feel you! My 6 year old son usually just gives me one word responses - he has been so moody recently and I can't help but get frustrated at him...I feel so guilty. But to be fair I probably shout a lot more at his 5 year old sister as she opens her mouth too much - hahaha! I sound like an awful mum :P

@Monicatatie - fingers crossed for you and the job! I think most places need you to have been there a year before you qualify for Maternity pay. However, check this link out:

Your afternoon out sounds perfect to me - I too like to be at home in my comfy clothes before it gets too late. I mean why did we work so hard - so we have a place called home, which we like to be at! I love my home! We booked to go to Greece (April Easter holidays) and Spain (10 year wedding anniversary in May which I am going to take the kids out of school for and hope to not get in trouble)! Big aspirations, haha! I am quite excited now to be going away but know that this will change the minute I find out I am pregnant - eeek, I really hope it happens this month!

I also bought the book - "how to take charge of your fertility" - it is pretty intense but lots of useful info in it - def recommend to understand more about our bodies. I am going to try temping this month to see if I did actually ovulate!

I did buy a thermometer and a chart but never used it. Please let us know how you get on with the temping

Has anyone noticed their periods are longer and heavier when ttc? Mine still isn't finished and I'm on day 6! Or maybe I'm paying more attention to details at the moment. I did think the same when I was ttc number 3 .

Day 20 today and still not ovulated to my knowledge 😓 I’m so obsessed after the miscarriage, it’s horrid. @Monicatatie my periods are always heavy now. They make me feel rough for a few days, it sucks being a woman sometimes x

Oh @Hopetobeamumof4 I'm so sorry, it's understandable though after what you've been through 😥 are you using opk to be sure?

@Monicatatie I have been since yesterday. I always get sore nipples (sorry tmi) so I know it’s not happened yet. I guess it’s knocked things off sync a little x

@Monicatatie - i've found my periods are heavier since giving birth but not necessarily longer (usually done by day 5 or 6 at the latest).

@Hopetobeamumof4 - so sorry you are still waiting - but every day waiting you are getting closer to the magical ovulation day - you will get there!

My AF has just finished - so the bd starts tonight I think - but i am sooooooo tired and totally not in the mood at all...i'm doing a weekly 2k parkrun with the older kids in the morning and I just can't run like I used to! Need to seriously work on my fitness as I feel like a big slob/blob hahaha.

I didnt get the job. Cant believe they made me wait a whole week to tell me 🤬
But the good news is that I will be definitely ttc this month so back on the wagon. @msanne I will probably get your book. Does it tell you you shouldn't drink alcohol? 😱 I dont like it when the advice says so, even though I know it's true 😫😬 or is it?
I'm definitely NOT going to have a lot of sex, this cycle will be the lazy sex cycle. I'll start opk around day 14 and dtd the day I get a positive, the day after and one more day 🤞

What vitamins do you all take? I've started vitamin c again, ran out of pregnancy multivitamins and decided to stick with b complex and ordered some ubiquinol after finishing the coq10

@msanne go you for booking a holiday, I've been sooo tempted to book one!

@Monicatatie sorry to hear you didn't get the job, I'm a month into mine and it's tough thinking about the need to tell my new boss if I become pregnant. I've been taking ubiquinol double dose for a while, bloody expensive! I'm obs taking folic acid but also vit D. Probably should be taking a whole host of others.

@msanne omg I can’t run to save my life. I went on a run with my husband once (notice the once) & 5 minutes in he was screaming at me because I couldn’t go any further. He’s ex navy so he got all military on me & really bossy! Ended up in a huge row 🙈😂😂😂 so yeah, won’t be doing that again. I’ve not worked out in so long, really need to get back at it.

@Monicatatie Sorry about the job, so annoying when they made you wait too. 😡 I think I’m gonna have to start on the vitamins, I only take folic acid & primrose oil.

I’ve deffo missed any chance of getting pregnant this month. I had a positive opk yesterday but hubby is working away till tonight & we’ve not had any sex running up to it as he’s been full of man flu & wasn’t up to it. So I’ve missed my chance this month 😭

My little boy turns 7 this weekend, where does the time go? Absolutely no drinking for me on Friday night 🙈😂😂 xx

On day 22 I had some ewcm but no sore nipples and no positive test. Although I have done them a bit sporadically. I am going to get the clearblue ovulation sticks next cycle. They sound so easy. I’m getting so stressed out with my cycle although I know that really won’t help at all! I’m glad I have you guys x

@jellybean55 it’s so so annoying thinking you’ve missed it. So frustrating when you only get a few days to try. You never know you may have caught the tail end of it: every day and month seems precious I know. I didn’t do it in the days leading up to my normal ovulation time and I’m so annoyed about that: partner said he was tired and it makes you really resent them. Sometimes can’t be helped though but I do know how you feel x

@Hopetobeamumof4 the ttc journey is so stressful! I can recommend the easy@home tests, best I've tried.
I'm 9dpo and testing twice a day...WHY!? I've already decided I'm not pregnant having had stark white sticks and am a mixture of sad and pissed off. I know it's not anywhere near over yet this month but can't help but feel it is.

@Sunnytimes21 Urrghh we’ve all been there testing that early, it’s because we want it so much 😭 Obviously 9 days PO you could still be pregnant without the positive test so don’t lose hope.

@Hopetobeamumof4 Every month does seem precious & I feel so pissed off this month as I’ve only dtd once in the week that matters. I don’t even feel like dtd now as I feel there’s no point. How bad is that? 😭 I feel resent towards my husband because he was ill & working away 😡

I’m going to be 42 in December, I’m kinda losing hope girls. I feel like accepting that this won’t happen is going be a very hard pill to swallow. I’m feeling down & I need to snap out of it as it’s taking over. X
