After a chilled garden soiree, it's time to shake things up and head to the cocktail club. Let's get into the spirit(s) - it's a whiskey business TTC so if you're feeling pretty fly grab a Mai Tai and have yourself some Sex on the Beach. Fingers crossed we get some BFP's and keep the Bloody Mary's away. Let the celebrations be-Gin!! Time flys when your having Rum!

Welcome to the 11th (!) post pill party thread for women who have recently come off the pill. Where we can all come and discuss the highs and lows of TTC.

@ChinChilly you are doing better than you think and it's ok to have your moments. What you have had to deal with is a lot. Hopefully you will get some answers soon

AF is arriving any minute now! Right on the dot

Kay00 · 10/07/2021 10:09

@tillybabs oh no... sorry AF is showing up.

@sunshinedaisybuttermellow ooh!! That all sounds very promising. Are you resisting from testing any longer for a reason 😁 ??

I'm 9dpo and my temps are still nice and high. But I have a very mild AF style feeling very low down so I wonder if I'll start spotting soon as seems to be the normal for me in the run up to AF at the mo.

Sunshinedaisybuttermellow · 10/07/2021 11:41

@Tillybabs sorry af is coming Sad

@Kay00 I'm just scared it will be negative haha. Last month I had spotting a couple days before AF so I guess I'm expecting it to come. I literally burst into tears in the toilet when I had the pink cm on Thursday (I also cried watching inside out and coco when dd was off nursery ill last week). DH keeps saying try to stop thinking about it like it's that easy haha!
Don't worry too much about the cramps, I remember when pregnant with dd I had loads of cramps the first month or so, apparently it's very common. Doesn't necessarily mean AF is coming, especially if your temps are high.

Carolinesturn · 11/07/2021 14:18

Hi everyone
I would like to join you post pill party if that’s ok?, been watching you guys for a few weeks ‘creep’ 😂
I’ve been off the pill… Yasmin for one and a half cycles, around 7 weeks after 15 years due to acne. I got horrendous symptoms last month before my period, they actually had me convinced I’d conceived (wishful thinking) I was nauseas and sooo moody and irritable but the most worrying part was that I spotted brown for around 4 days before my period this was accompanied by mild cramps, I was convinced it was implantation but then AF came. I had tried an OPK, one of the Cb ones but the two day rather than the four and I got two positives in a row on my first try as I had a tiny bit of ewmc. I’m not doing them this month though as I think they might add to anxiety and just dtd every other day.
I’m most worried about the brown spotting before period and it’s link to hormone imbalance, but it’s my first cycle so maybe I’m being hard on myself, did anyone else get this? Also I don’t get varied mucus, it just seems watery or dry, no cloudy and only a tiny bit of ewcm last time
I’m 32 and never been pregnant, i have a feeling this won’t be easy for me. Sorry for offloading so sorry

TheDaydreamBelievers · 11/07/2021 16:35

@Carolinesturn welcome to our club :) Some spotting in the couple of days running up to AF is normal. If the spotting is off and on over the cycle or mayn many days thats less typical.

AF appeared for me on 9DPO. So a total cycle of 48days. Shorter than some of the monstrosities, but a bit short post ovulation.

Carolinesturn · 12/07/2021 10:23

Thank you @TheDaydreamBelievers
That’s put my mind at rest a bit, I suppose the spotting starts at around 10dpo so although short maybe in the normal range then AF at 14 dpo
Are you doing anything to lengthen your luteal phase? Such as vitamin b? I’m trying not to change anything for myself until I get an idea of what my hormones do on this cycle then I may look into vitamins etc

TheDaydreamBelievers · 12/07/2021 10:43

@Carolinesturn my cycles are super super long and irregular in general and the one cycle I took vitamin B was longer than most ('one cycle' being over 100 days that time). I'm nervous about messing around too much with vitamins to be honest. I'm pursuing private testing etc in August (after a major work deadline which currently has me working all hours).

Kay00 · 13/07/2021 07:30

Morning ladies! I have been a little quiet the last few days because I'm camping and have been enjoying life away from my phone 😆 it has also been my birthday... so I'm now officially 36.

I'm 12dpo (AF due tomorrow) and super pleased that I haven't been spotting this cycle. But I have some AF style cramps this morning so she'll probably arrive bang on time... tomorrow (which also happens to be my OH's birthday 🤣).

I'm not thrilled about being on my period whilst living in a tent at a site with not even a good portable toilet 🙃 but here we are. I was also holding out a small amount of hope for a successful cycle as I had my HyCoSy on CD5, but nm. On the plus side my consultant has finally written up my prescription for Metformin. Onwards and upwards!

@carolinesturn welcome!!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 13/07/2021 08:33

@Kay00 happy birthday and I hope you have a lovely time camping (and good weather!). So happy to hear youll soon be on metaformin - when do you begin?

This is a super heavy AF for me - but luckily not painful! Temps are still also weirdly high - does anyone know when they 'should' drop?

Tillybabs · 13/07/2021 08:47

@Kay00 happy belated birthday!

I'm in the same boat as you, 13dpo and was hoping the Hycosy would help conception but I've been getting AF cramps since Friday although nothing has arrived yet.

Did a hcg strip today though and nothing so she's definitely coming.

We have our IVF eligibility appointment today.

Carolinesturn · 13/07/2021 09:54

Thanks @Kay00 good luck with your ivf eligibility appointment! And enjoy your birthdays, I'm glad the ball is rolling for you!

I'm cycle day 12 today I just did an opk and it's a smiley face again but I really don't feel I'm ovulating, I took two last cycle too and they were both smiley faces too (not sure what cycle day I was as it was my first cycle off the pill.) I'm starting to worry I've got a hormone imbalance that gives me smiley faces all the time, should I take them every day this cycle and next cycle to try and work out if it's a sign of a hormone imbalance? These are clear blue 2 most fertile day ones

ChinChilly · 13/07/2021 10:54

@Kay00 happy birthday!!! I was convinced AF was coming the month I got my BFP because of the cramps.

@Tillybabs good luck with your appointment today.

@TheDaydreamBelievers sorry AF is being a horror, not sure about the temps mine used to drop the day before or the day of.

@Carolinesturn Welcome!!

Tillybabs · 13/07/2021 11:28

Hi ladies

So we have been approved for ivf on the nhs 😃

But before we can start, I'm having my baseline scan on Friday and they want to have a look at my uterus because when I had my Hycosy they saw some polyps.

They said depending on how many and how big they are, I might have to have surgery to remove those and then start the ivf process

Anyone else experienced that?

My amh level was 17.7 which is average I think?

ChinChilly · 13/07/2021 16:46

@Tillybabs all sounds positive!, I'm not sure about AMH levels I'm not sure I've had mine tested!

I've just spoken to a nurse from Tommy's, she said my referral is all there and the current wait from referral to first appointment is about 12 weeks, she said they don't do anything for 6 weeks post miscarriage because there can still be some pregnancy hormones lingering around which may throw some blood results off. She was really nice and it does feel like abit of progress, I've got until around the end of September to lose about a stone and generally be healthier! Feels abit crap to not be able to TTC but needs must and all that!

Redclueless · 13/07/2021 18:44

Hope it’s ok if I join in! Very new to this, this is my 5th week off the pill and so far nothing but sore boobs and acne. Trying to be patient…

Tillybabs · 13/07/2021 18:59

@ChinChilly that sounds positive for you as well. 12 weeks is a bit of a wait but it will go quickly

Kay00 · 13/07/2021 19:03

@redclueless welcome to the party! And unfortunately welcome to sore boobs 😆 hang in there, it seems fairly common for us ladies to have a long wait for our first period post pill 😊

@chinchilly that's amazing, do glad you're just waiting on your appointment date now. Time to focus on you and your health will be good physically and mentally 💛

@tillybabs yey!!! Great news! Hopefully you don't have enough polyps to warrant surgery though. I'm not sure about amh either as mine was off the scale 🙃

I have had a lovely day walking my dogs across the Mendip hills. It's bbq time now. Still no AF yet... but she's not due until tomorrow.

Tillybabs · 13/07/2021 19:09

@Kay00 we are exactly the same cycle wise and I'm due tomorrow. I've had AF cramps for about 5 days and nothing. Had some discharge today as well.

But I did a hcg strip test and it was stark white

I guess the main thing I meet the criteria re amh levels

Your trip sounds lovely and perfect weather too

Carolinesturn · 13/07/2021 19:16

@Redclueless what pill were you on? I was on Yasmin for acne (originally dianette) I came off for about 4 months two years ago just to see what I was like without it and I broke out in acne so I went back on pronto. This time is different as ttc. I always remember my periods to be spot on but really I think I wasn't closely looking then. I didn't care but now I care too much! I just feel deep down there maybe something wrong with my hormones, although I've never been diagnosed... possibly pcos. I just wish I could fast forward a year and see what's in store.

ChinChilly · 13/07/2021 19:24

@Tillybabs yeah hopefully, I'm knee deep in DIY at the minute so that's keeping me busy!

@Kay00 The gym does wonders for me mentality wise, it's just getting my butt off the sette 😂 i did a IC a while that second line is very visibly still there it is no where near as dark as the control line which I think is pretty good considering I'm only one week post surgical management, hopefully next week it will be a BFN, so wierd to hope for a BFN. Your day sounds lovely, hopefully AF stays away and you get a birthday BFP.

@Redclueless welcome!! I remember my boobs feeling like two blocks on concrete after coming off the pill, it does settle...eventually

Redclueless · 13/07/2021 19:44

@Carolinesturn I was on the mini pill, cerazette originally and then they changed it to destrogel. Same here I never bothered tracking or anything before, just assumed it was all pretty normal. I’ve heard pcos is really common but I’ve no idea how they check or diagnose it. I’m so impatient, also wishing for a fast forward button!
@Kay00 @ChinChilly thank you! At least it means ‘something’ is happening I guess, they’re actually not as sore as last week so hopefully things are progressing and I’ll get AF soon

Lovebug06 · 13/07/2021 20:54

Hi all,

I hope your all doing okay, I read from afar and update when I can. I am finding this very tough the last few weeks as I said in my last post. I find to cope I kind of run away from it and avoid it.
My AF came again of course.
I feel terrible as we all do when it comes.
I'm having a lot of trouble with accessing help as I seem to have all along. And as mentioned, there is no ivf funding in my area so at the moment I feel a bit like I have no hope for this.
I will pick up, and be back. I obviously feel worse as AF has just come but I've been struggling for a while and the way my help (or lack of) is affecting me badly.
People at my point are being offered ivf, or evening knowing I could have that in the future as an option would be huge. Knowing I won't at all is just like.. What am I going to do????

I care for all of you I've got to know through this journey and am rooting for you all. I will try and pop back when I can. Hopefully in a few days but I just don't know, I have to keep distancing myself at the moment.

Sending love to all of you on this tough journey. Your such strong girls ♥️

Tillybabs · 14/07/2021 08:01

@Lovebug06 I'm sorry to hear you are struggling. I hope that IVF becomes available in your area soon! It's really unfair that it's a postcode lottery for some but don't give up hope.

AF hasn't arrived yet and I've been having cramps since last Thursday and nothing yet. I'm 14dpo and bfn on a hcg strip test.

ChinChilly · 14/07/2021 08:54

@Redclueless the wait for the first AF is torture, I think mine was about 4 weeks.

@Lovebug06 sorry you're feeling like that. It's really frustrating that some areas get 3 rounds of IVF and some get none, surely it should just be standardised across the NHS for faireness.

@Tillybabs that's frustrating, any chance you ovulated a couple of days later?

Tillybabs · 14/07/2021 09:03

@ChinChilly no definitely not. I used opks and temped so was able to pinpoint ovulation.

I'm wondering if the Hycosy has impacted AF at all
