@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 hmm that's interesting! This is the first month they're going this high so it's possible!

@notyetamumbuttrying thank you, it was just an examination today - she found my cervix is tilted and sideways 😂 had trouble finding it 🤦🏼‍♀️ then said I've got some tenderness and a cyst on Cervix so is sending me for a scan though said it's unlikely to find anything and because I've already been referred to gynaecology won't be giving me a new one with endo specialist 🙄 so I just have to wait for that one

@Misty84 great news that she was helpful for you!

Hi @Bundaberg84 and welcome, sorry about your cp

Just checking in and not caught up yet. Sorry you got a BFN and hope your scan went well @Marvellouslymadmum

Marvellouslymadmum · 07/05/2021 21:18

@thislittlebird thank you, it was just a pelvic exam with the doc to make sure everything looked normal but she's sending me for a scan next

Woohoo found it! Thank you! 🙂

ImpatientTTCer · 08/05/2021 07:35

@Marvellouslymadmum thank you for starting the new thread!

@Misty84 I’m glad it went well at the Lister! How are you feeling about starting in August?

Misty84 · 08/05/2021 08:14

Thank you @ImpatientTTCer. I’m basically praying that a miracle happens within the next 3 cycles and then I won’t have to do it. By then it’ll be over 2 years of TTC naturally so a reasonable time to start ivf I suppose. I don’t like needles or forcing my poor body to do something it’s not designed to do but it feels like the logical next step as my eggs aren’t getting any younger. Will give it a go and just see how I respond (with low AMH I am not predicted to respond well, however my AFC is ok and my FSH is normal which is providing some hope!)
I wish we weren’t having to pay for it because that adds another layer of pressure. My poor oh (who has only just turned 31 with good SA) looks like a deer caught in the headlights at all this!!! I imagine it’s not what he signed up for!!
Thank you for asking xx

Noodella18 · 08/05/2021 08:53

@misty84 oh lovely, you've mentioned your younger partner before - try not to focus on that aspect of it! He chose YOU, he wants to be with YOU. Cut yourself some slack xx

CD5 here nothing to report, just biding my time til FW.

ElsieG3m · 08/05/2021 09:08

@Misty84 it's great that you now have a plan and like noodella I think don't worry about your younger partner - he did choose you and none of us know at any age what we're signing up for exactly. It's a journey but not always the straightforward one we're led to believe it will be. If you are reflecting, try just to think of his age and good SA as a positive - at least that's one part of the puzzle that you don't need to worry about and will massively improve your chances of a positive IVF outcome. The Lister are supposed to be brilliant so I'm sure they'll take good care of you and it will be great for you to get going xx

ElsieG3m · 08/05/2021 09:12

@Noodella18 day 7 here and not bothering with BBT this month. Just going to do OPKs, diet, exercise and acupuncture. Saw my acupuncturist yesterday and felt so relaxed - had a little snooze. I told her I was worried about my age at 37 and she was so reassuring. She said oh just don't worry - most of her pregnant patients are coming in in their early 40s. She really wasn't worried. So keeping everything crossed she can help. She has recommend I try to get bloods done through Gp though as I'm exhausted, can't lose weight and my skin and hair are really dry. I also have those little white flecks on my nails so she thinks maybe I'm deficient in some vitamins and may need supplements. She also said low iron can impact fertility/miscarriage. Did anyone else hear/know this?

Misty84 · 08/05/2021 09:27

Ah thank you @Noodella18 and @ElsieG3m. I know I shouldn’t keep blaming myself for all this, I think if we didn’t have to pay for it then I wouldn’t be so hard on myself, I do feel guilty about the thousands of pounds we’re parting with for this. Money he’s worked hard to save and expected to spend on a house deposit ☹️
Worth it if it works! If it doesn’t- I can’t even contemplate that. I feel bad that we’re splitting the cost when it’s essentially me that’s the issue. He’s never made me feel bad about it (however we haven’t spent anything yet!😛) so I just need to get over it. Just pray that we have something to show for it in the end. Otherwise we’ll have no money and be stuck in this tiny flat for even longer. OH really wants a dog and I said not until we have a house with a garden. Can’t get the house now that all money will be going into ivf 🤦‍♀️ So you see the dilemma! Our lives are on hold for this.

ElsieG3m that’s very reassuring words from your acupuncturist! So nice to hear things like that. I remember having a transvaginal scan at 19 months and the doctor was completely unfazed at how long I’d been trying for, she confidently said “It just takes time!” Made me think I was worrying and fretting for nothing! 🙃

notyetamumbuttrying · 08/05/2021 10:15

@Marvellouslymadmum well hopefully the gynae you see has at least some experience in endo because if they operate on you, you want someone who knows what they're looking for. Endo hides in all sorts of places. They'll need to check your bowel and bladder too but I'm sure they'll do that during the laparoscopy if you manage to get one 🤞🏾

Marvellouslymadmum · 08/05/2021 10:21

@Misty84 I really do hope you get your bfp before ivf but if not you have a good plan in place with a great clinic 🤞🏻

@ElsieG3m absolutely iron has a massive impact on fertility, getting pregnant and mc I had my bloods done in January and was very anaemic, had to have 630mg iron a day to bring it up and now on 210mg a day to sustain it! Still no bfp for me yet though! I'd get your vit d checked as that can cause the white flecks in nails etc I did link in an article on iron deficiency before but not sure where it is now I'll look

@notyetamumbuttrying yes hopefully! Or they'll pass me to one that does and I won't have the extra wait! At least I've been waiting about 6 weeks already - only another 27 to go!

notyetamumbuttrying · 08/05/2021 10:37

@Marvellouslymadmum yes that's very true! Weird seeing your name in green btw 😂 didn't click that you'd set this chain up. Thank you 😊

Marvellouslymadmum · 08/05/2021 11:20

@notyetamumbuttrying 😂 I went to reply last night and it said I couldn't as the thread was full! Searched everywhere for a new one and couldn't see it so thought it would be ok to start it and tag everyone so we didn't lose each other 🤷🏼‍♀️

OP posts:
notyetamumbuttrying · 08/05/2021 11:31

@Marvellouslymadmum yeah defo mate! Good going. I went searching for it this morning as I turned tagged notifications off when I set up MN up last year. It's my year anniversary of being on these boards 😩 at least there's progression though, even if it is ivf.

Kitekat81 · 08/05/2021 12:09

@Misty84 thanks for checking in, I'm doing ok thanks. I took a few days away from the thread and completely lost track of where everyone was! I found the little flurry of bfp's quite hard, I know that's really selfish of me but I think I finally reached the point where I'd completely given up hope of ever seeing one myself. So now we are focusing on preparing for ivf, had our nurse appointment on Thursday, screening blood tests yesterday and looking through the consent forms this weekend. They'll send us the meds next week ready to start injections round about 26th May. How are you doing, I saw that your appointment went well with the Lister and you're hoping to start in August? That's great that you have a plan, and gives you a few months to get everything ready (or hopefully to conceive naturally so you don't need to do it!!)

@thislittlebird I was so sorry to read that you've had yet another bad experience, that doesn't sound right at all that she brushed you off given your results. I hope you are ok.

@notyetamumbuttrying how are you getting on with your ivf prep?

@M4v3r1ck hope things are still progressing well with your pregnancy!

KatRee · 08/05/2021 12:16

@Marvellouslymadmum Thanks for the new thread and for tagging us all- that must have taken a while!

I hope everyone is feeling ok today

@thislittlebird - so sorry to read about your recent experience- how unprofessional of that doctor. Kindness, or at the very least, respect, is just as important aspect to their job as clinical knowledge IMO, so they really shouldn't be in that line of work if they go around with that attitude!

I had a private consultation this morning as have been struggling to get through to the NHS clinic I was referred to to arrange investigations. Although I'm anxious about the cost of having the tests done privately, I think for me it's preferable to the stress of waiting to get it sorted through NHS. Just want answers at this point and I'm not getting to get good ones from Google no matter how many hours I spend down the rabbit hole!

KatRee · 08/05/2021 12:31

@Geriatric1234 I think it was you who I was discussing early ovulation/short surges with last month? So I asked the consultant about this - he said that sometimes shorter cycles, ie shorter follicular phases might indicate lower ovarian reserve - the fact that it is taking the follicle that releases the egg less time to mature could suggest there are fewer maturing follicles to begin with. He was very careful to say this is based on his observations in clinic and that I would need tests to get a true indication of ovarian reserve and also that a lower ovarian reserve does not mean you can't get pregnant. I was actually reassured somewhat as I guess I assumed that I will obviously have a lower ovarian reserve at my age and also it suggests that the egg that is being released is mature, not underripe like doctor Google said it might be.
