@Bundaberg84 ah no sorry to hear you’ve only one left. Will you get some more do you think?
I’m actually continuing to drink, just more in moderation, a few drinks when out etc rather than wine o clock every night

Bundaberg84 · 08/05/2021 21:21

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 we will definitely having a pup again but our current old lady isn't the most social dog. There are dogs she loves but most she only tolerates. I don't think she will be happy if we bring a new dog in her life. But who knows; we also have a cat that we found in the garden and chose us as her new family, so if we find a random dog we will take it in obviously ;)

Ah happy to hear I'm not the only one re: occasionally drinking.

Marvellouslymadmum · 08/05/2021 23:48

@notyetamumbuttrying do you know when egg collection will be for you yet? I find it fascinating reading about all your ivf journeys!

@Kitekat81 sorry you've felt bad lovely, great that your ivf is getting underway though!

@KatRee it took me a fair while lol

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I take a higher dose of vit d not sure about the others though

@got2be optimal ferritin levels for fertility are above 50ng/ml I take b6 last month it was just up until ov this month whole month, no success with it yet but 🤞🏻 I believe uk average is a size 16 now so 10/12 is small!!

@MgW1 I don't see why they're all obsessed with weight! Especially when plenty of larger women get pregnant and a size 10/12 is not big! 🤦🏼‍♀️ do they want us to all be sticks that are too weak to carry a baby 🙄😂 I don't own scales either am also a size 10/12 and only 5' but if I lose a couple of stone I'll be told I look too skinny and asked if I'm ill again (my weight is also in my boobs 😂)

@Misty84 I used to have labs, I had one from a pup and he was the best dog ever! Had him till he was almost 16 so longer than my children and they'd grown up with him 😢 also had. Ares he one and they were besties

@thislittlebird I agree on the fact we get the 'short' end of the stick with weight when we are not tall - I too get the back fat, what's that all about??! Shame we aren't all close enough to exercise together, would make it more fun! Maybe we could do zoom yoga 😂

thislittlebird · 09/05/2021 00:04

@Marvellouslymadmum I asked my friend in the Netherlands and she said it’s BMI of 35 there for fertility treatment, so I’m guessing an element of the rule here is to slim down the numbers and to increase success rates because they claim it’s more effective with a 18-30 bmi? Don’t know how much research there is on that.

With being short the weight goes on but it’s not a vast amount before I’m looking a bit bigger. And same for losing it, I lose a couple of stone and I’d look too small probably (I don’t have skinny legs either).

Can’t stand my back fat!!!!! There is a bit all over right now but it definitely develops on my back.

I’d just be a terrible zoom yoga partner, I’d be on the floor laughing at myself failing to do stuff. I do need to lose weight by mid July, seeing family in the south west and don’t want to turn up still wearing winter clothes because I haven’t been out of jogging bottoms in a year 😩. I need to try to do one pound per week but that won’t happen unless I can shake the mood and self-motivate.

Marvellouslymadmum · 09/05/2021 00:13

@thislittlebird that's the trouble isn't it, others can put on a fair few pounds before they look different and we can't! My daughter who just turned 15 is 5'11 (tall father 😂) and weights 10.5 stone - looks like a stick 🙄 so unfair. The back fat is definitely my pet hate too! I've also big legs too but I'm used to them by now.

Why can't you lose weight through laughing? We would have a great zoom yoga/laugh session and lose weight then 😂 I'm not self motivated at all at the moment!

I had BMI of 25 during first lockdown but have managed to reduce it to 22 over last year (size 12). I’m tall (5ft 10) which has always been my saving grace- the fat spreads out! 😛

I’ve stopped drinking at home with my partner but it’s social drinking that’s going to be the real challenge especially now we’re able to socialise again! Just going to have small amounts and try to stick to this 10 units a week max as instructed by clinic.

@Kitekat81 Yeah I’m not thrilled about taking DHEA, that was one I wanted to avoid because of the potential side effects. But like you I feel like I need to trust whoever is consulting me! Frustrating when different clinics say different things though!!

@ImpatientTTCer Ah yay that is very close indeed, I know Croydon well! 🙂

Misty84 · 09/05/2021 07:03

@thislittlebird We had the consultation via Teams with Dr Jaya Parikh. She was nice, as positive as she could be. She also wasn’t doing any kind of hard sell, she actually advised me to get DHEA and thyroid checked with NHS doctor to save me money before I start treatment. We’re choosing to start in August because I’m going to be working less then, but I think you can start as soon as you like! Nice to have no wait times for once!! I’m using the next 3 months to try and get myself in best shape possible for this.

02Carol · 09/05/2021 08:51

@Marvellouslymadmum thanks

Noodella18 · 09/05/2021 09:15

@thislittlebird my understanding of the bmi thing is that excess fat disrupts hormones, I believe it increases oestrogen which i guess isn't the best when you're trying to implant/keep a baby. The other thing is that the body has to work hard to support the additional weight (both carrying it around and stuff like pumping blood to it, establishing and maintaining the extra blood vessels etc) So that diverts energy away from growing the baby etc. Which i guess makes sense from an evolutionary point of view - body is stressed which means environment is stressful, so don't bring a baby in and make it more stressful.

thislittlebird · 09/05/2021 09:26

@Marvellouslymadmum exactly, there’s about two or three stone in my whole range of weight by BMI, being short doesn’t give you much flexibility. Your daughter weighs the same as me right now but I look like a bit of a weeble. I have a small head as well as decent size legs, so gaining weight looks weird on me. It just doesn’t suit me at all, my proportions are all wrong.

The weather is ok today, I should go for a walk. Small steps and all that. Or I might do some gardening if my husband feels like drilling some holes in some new pots for me (I’ll likely end up smashing them if I try).

Good going @Misty84! I need some more height, I’m a size 10-12 and my BMI is currently creeping above 27. I know getting it down to 25 initially is very achievable, I just have a mental block right now.

We don’t drink a lot at home but we had a few gins this weekend. I like the low alcohol beer I bought so it’s a good go-to if I fancy a drink. I doubt I’ll be socialising much, but soon there will be new babies being displayed and I don’t know how to avoid that.

I’m glad the appointment with the Lister was good. I’m going to book one soon. I’m the same as you, I want to get in better shape first so in my head I’m hoping for august/September. Work is quiet in august, it might make sense then.

What do they think the DHEA will do? Increase egg quality? Quantity? I read about this in a book months ago and have forgotten.

M4v3r1ck · 09/05/2021 09:28

Hey ladies I found you! 😃 Thanks for the tag!

Hello to some new faces! 😃

@Marvellouslymadmum how long will you have to wait for next scan? Could the cyst be part of your normal cycle, ie an ovulation cyst or something like that?

@Misty84 got all my 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 for you, but I absolutely echo what the others say here - your OH chose you! 😘

@Kitekat81 sending so much love, luck and positivity to you, fabulous lady! 😘😘😘 I'm glad you can work from anywhere to be able to do this! Hope you've got yourself a lovely hotel/Airbnb during this! I would offer to cat sit for you, but my two would be utterly furious! 😹😹

@MgW1 lose weight?!?! Urgh BMI pisses me off, there's clearly no accounting for fitness and physical health with it! 🤦🏻‍♀️ The fact that you're a 10/12 means you really don't need to be worrying about weight IMHO! 🤷🏻‍♀️ I really hope the aspirin and progesterone helps for you! 🤞🏻

Anybody testing soon??? 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/05/2021 09:28

@Katiekattty wow that sounds full on, but makes sense to stay close instead of all the back n forth! We're fortunate that our hospital is easy to get for us. Just a tube ride away.
@thislittlebird I'm glad you're still persevering! It's all you can do really.
@KatRee good, I'm glad you feel good about it. It's good to feel secure in your decisions isn't it. Thank you 😊
@Marvellouslymadmum I don't know for sure, but based on how long they usually stim ppl for, I've guessed the 28th May.

@Misty84 well done on the low bmi! I bet you look stunning! I'm 5"7 1/2 and my bmi is 28 🙈 working on getting it to 25 but it'll take me a while. I've lost weight before (1 1/2 stone) but I can't keep it off for long, always creeps back on! I'm pretty curvy so my fat would always distribute evenly but when I do go overweight, my belly and thighs expand! 😬

MgW1 · 09/05/2021 09:43

@thislittlebird
Oh i know , i arent reading too much into it although I don't like been medically 'overweight' 🤔

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/05/2021 10:05

@MgW1 horrible term isn't it! I'm a 14/16 and don't look massive tbh so to be classed as overweight is a bit shit!

thislittlebird · 09/05/2021 10:12

@MgW1 @notyetamumbuttrying I’m sure most people who saw me or you guys wouldn’t think “overweight” either. But saying that, I know I gain weight internally too so getting back to my healthy bmi is the best choice for me with ivf likely starting for us in a few months (once we find a place).

I definitely look a bit wider than I did in October anyway lol. I tend to lose in the summer and regain in the winter.

Marvellouslymadmum · 09/05/2021 10:32

@Misty84 amazing bmi! I may start complaining that the bmi system is sizist 😂 at a size 12 your bmi is 22 at a size 12 my bmi is 30!! Just cos I'm a shortie most unfair, I like my curves!!

@thislittlebird that's exactly it there's virtually no weight range and I'm all over the place size wise 😂 my waist is an 8/10 my boobs are a good 16 my hips are a 12 maybe even 14 as I have a pouch from 2 c-sections so I'm curvy, I'd just like to be a bit less on the pouch and hips and get rid of the back fat and I'm good! How much is lipo? 🤔😂

@M4v3r1ck not long for the scan she said just a few weeks, not sure if it's a transvaginal one or just ultrasound. She just said I had a small cyst on my cervix and it looked like a little pimple 🤷🏼‍♀️ ringing Monday to book in for a smear so maybe they'll say more

@notyetamumbuttrying ooh that's not long then! I'm guessing you'll have a scan at some point for them to decide when. I don't feel like I'm obese like the bmi tells me, slightly bigger than I should be/would like to be yes but not in any way huge it's a very unfair system as there's no individuality in it. Have heard they may be scrapping it though 🤞🏻

@ImpatientTTCer sorry the thread is moving so fast I missed your message! Thankfully my dog didn't like those bell things, that would be a nightmare otherwise - bells ringing any time he fancies a play outside at night 😂

To all the ladies doing IVF right now/imminently, good luck!

@Misty84 amazing job on the BMI. I'd love to be 5'10 also! The weather was nice so was inspired to get out for a run this morning - first one in ages. OMG feeling it, sweaty and panting and hardly went far at all 😂

Agreed on the BMI, I'm sure everyone looks fab. I can feel all my muscle tone has gone with the gyms being closed and me being lazy, so this is the downfall of BMI. It doesn't take into account I'm lighter because fat weighs less etc. I'm def jealous of all the large boobs on here

Farfaraway1 · 09/05/2021 11:01

Hi ladies! Pleased I’ve found the new thread! 🥰 I haven’t checked in for quite a while but thought I would to let you know I’m still here and still (not so patiently) waiting for a BFP! AF just started this weekend so heres hoping this next month will bring some good news! Strength to all xx

Kitekat81 · 09/05/2021 11:31

@Misty84 we might have to be apart for up to a week I think. If there's a weekend during that time he might be able to come down and stay with me though. That's good that you are having your dhea levels checked before you start taking it. The clinic who advised me to take it didn't mention any testing before or monitoring of my dhea levels while I was taking it, which didn't feel right to me.

@KatRee @Marvellouslymadmum thank you for your good wishes 😊 and @M4v3r1ck thank you for the catsitting offer! 😹😹

Marvellouslymadmum · 09/05/2021 11:38

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that's exactly it! My legs and bum are all muscle, I've been a dance teacher for 15 years which has majorly helped (though not over the last year) and bmi doesn't have a clue lol

Hi @Farfaraway1 hope you're doing ok

OP posts:
A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 09/05/2021 12:21

@Kitekat81 the time to stay away actually sounds perfect, like a little bubble. Where you can just take care of yourself, walk around and explore, make delicious healthy food, watch boxsets and read books. With no pressure to be anywhere or socialising etc or doing chores outside of work

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/05/2021 12:27

@thislittlebird I'm so similar with losing and gaining with the change of the seasons. I always get my act together when there's the fear of wearing a bikini on the horizon 😂
@Marvellouslymadmum yeah first scan is booked for 17th May 😬
It's defo an unfair system. It doesn't take into account body types or race either. I have a very typical black girls body with a big bum etc but it's my natural shape. I could def do with losing weight but I don't think many would call me fat.
@Farfaraway1 sorry the witch showed, hope you're ok!

got2be · 09/05/2021 12:35

@MgW1you were right, got peak today on both clearable and easy@home x

@thislittlebird, i really hope you get it sorted, or if you go back to gp that they follow the process properly. x

@KatRee yes its going to be expensive, wishful thinking but will get amh next week so maybe i won't need such a high dosage. x

@Marvellouslymadmum thanks I'm finally within range will keep taking for a bit just to keep a decent level x

MgW1 · 09/05/2021 12:38

@got2be
I still got a flashy!! Iv run out of tests now so might dtd Tuesday as well 🤞🏻
Well ladies my bmi was 29 = overweight! Im having a decaf right now and a chocolate brownie as a treat for today 😬

MgW1 · 09/05/2021 12:39
