Soy Isoflavones..yay or nay?

moly39x · 21/03/2021 23:33

Been doing some research on soy isoflavones & I didn't know what people's opinions are?

I have a 35 day cycle, ovulate between CD17-21 - currently 7th month in of TTC after 1 early loss at 5 week in October.

Do people have any experience with taking them? I read the following on an old thread here about with CD to take them..

My concerns are; I have little/none EWCM (have conceive plus lube) but I get positive OPK every month (temping just stressed me out which I decided would do more harm?!) and I'm sure soy iso is to help ovulate? But now I've read the below, it looks as though it can help the egg. I'm cautious about messing up my cycle so was just looking to hear other people's experience.

Here's the info I've read here (have lots more saved in my notes if people want to see about the dose etc if interest) :)

Thank you x

1-5 = you produce more eggs, and ovulate sooner, with a stronger ovulation.

2-6 = you produce more eggs that usual, but not as many as taking it 1-5. Eggs may be more mature, and ovulation will be slightly more strong than 1-5.

3-7 = The best of both worlds, a few more eggs, and all eggs will be strong & mature, and ovulation will be alot stronger than 1-5.

4-8 = No more eggs will be produced, but the ones already there, will be matured alot more than usual, and ovulation will be very strong. Ovulation may only be brought forward a teeny bit.

5-9 = You'll have one very mature strong egg, from the ones you already produced on your own. Ovulation will either happen when it usually does, or a few days later, but your egg will be of great quality.

@Marvellouslymadmum I got abit ahead of myself.. gone back to faint today so I'm going g to just hope I ovulated early, stressing myself out 🥺

Ahh you are 9DPO today aren't you? When are you going to test?🙊 it sounds promising but I also know pms symptoms can trick us!

Marvellouslymadmum · 04/04/2021 11:14

@hopingforababyh it may be that you ovulated early, I did this month. Also on clomid they say opk aren't always reliable so maybe it's the same with soy 🤷🏼‍♀️ yes I'm 9dpo and desperately trying not to get my hopes up lol I just have mild abdo cramps and a poking under my ribs today so far so I'm thinking that's more like af than anything else. Af could be due anywhere from tomorrow until next Sunday so will see how I feel if no af by the end of next week If I can hold out haha

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 04/04/2021 12:40

Happy Easter all! @choccrumpet and @Marvellouslymadmum are you holding out on testing? I’m 9dpo today, know it’s way too early to test, wondering if tomorrow or Tuesday would be too soon

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 04/04/2021 12:42

I have no idea when my period is meant to be having changed my cycle with the soy 😂 my shorter luteal phase or 14 days now

Marvellouslymadmum · 04/04/2021 13:12

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 aaah don't temp me 🙈 I'm 9dpo too and so dizzy today with Timmy twinges and major bloating but keep trying to tell myself it could just be af! I have no clue when mine should be either 🤷🏼‍♀️ could be anywhere between today and 12th 🤦🏼‍♀️

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 04/04/2021 13:15

@Marvellouslymadmum me as well, I’m nervous as don’t want to get hopes up. And I’ve had this bloating, twinges, backache etc when I haven’t been, so impossible for me to tell!

choccrumpet · 04/04/2021 13:32

Happy Easter! I've been testing for a few days now.. I know it's way too early but I can't help it. So far nothing. I'm about 7/8dpo. Normally my period would be due tomorrow but with such late ovulation I'm not sure when to expect it, I'm hoping it comes sometime next week so my luteal phase isn't too short.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 04/04/2021 13:59

Ah Choc it’s so hard isn’t it! I hate hate hate getting a negative so putting it off for me is better for my sanity. Save up the disappointment all for one day 😂

Marvellouslymadmum · 04/04/2021 15:53

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 couple of typos there but hopefully it made sense haha! Yeah I've had all these then bfn before so it's incredibly frustrating

Twiggywinkle13 · 04/04/2021 16:17

I think I’ve been convinced to try. Been ttc for a year now, ovulate kind of late and my luteal phase can be 11 or 12 days which I know isn’t ideal.

choccrumpet · 04/04/2021 17:10

@Twiggywinkle13 11/12 days is good! It's anything from 10 or lower that isn't great I think. I'm definitely trying in my next cycle! I really hope it brings my ovulation a few days forward

Twiggywinkle13 · 04/04/2021 17:13

This is interesting, I always see people say 14 dpo is great so I was kind of panicking in that respect!! Definitely more than 10 so I guess that’s good. At this point I’m willing to try absolutely anything!

choccrumpet · 05/04/2021 09:35

Tested this morning using cheapies and frer. One cheapie had a super faint line but hard to see, the other one had nothing. This is the frer. My partner can't see anything, I can see a hint of a line. What do you ladies think?

I can't get my hopes up until I see a much clearer line as I've had too many chemicals before (if this is a line), it's too devastating. I'm about 8/9DPO

Soy Isoflavones..yay or nay?
Marvellouslymadmum · 05/04/2021 10:16

@choccrumpet I can't see the line there but I know that it's harder to pick it up on a picture than in person! 🤞🏻 for you

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 05/04/2021 10:19

Morning @choccrumpet I can’t see anything but I often can’t, and it may be the camera is not picking it up. I took one this morning that’s a definite negative (10dpo)

Soy Isoflavones..yay or nay?
A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 05/04/2021 11:22

Also I don’t know if this’ll help you feel better, but on FF only 10% of pregnant people got a positive test at 10dpo. The average 1st positive was 13.6 days www.fertilityfriend.com/Faqs/When-can-I-expect-a-positive-HPT-if-I-am-pregnant.html

Marvellouslymadmum · 05/04/2021 11:57

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thank you! This info from
Ff will hopefully put me off testing 😂 that plus I've had a very slight temp drop today and no symptoms so far so pretty sure I'll be seeing af in the next few days anyway 🤷🏼‍♀️

choccrumpet · 05/04/2021 12:40

I'm addicted to testing so no matter what statistics you throw my way I still can't stop 🤦🏼‍♀️ it's that want and need to see a second line. But trying to put things into perspective. Will test again tomorrow.

I've not had many symptoms at all. My nipples are very sensitive but that could be pms. I've had period like cramps. I normally only cramp when I'm bleeding and even lately there haven't been many cramps during periods at all so this could be a symptom. Maybe nausea but feel like it could be in my head too.

It's literally the not knowing that does my head in. But am trying to tell myself that knowing won't speed anything up so trying to go with it... it's so hard!

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I can't tell by that photo but you may not be out just yet 🤞🏼 you're so good to keep waiting to test

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 05/04/2021 13:14

@choccrumpet it is the not knowing you’re right. I’m finding it really hard too, I shouldn’t have tested today and I did, felt a bit tearful with the negative, and now having to go hang out with others and be happy. Which will prob be a good distraction!!

@Marvellouslymadmum if it’s a slight drop you might well be fine!!

On the soy front, I can only think it has strengthened my hormones / progesterone. This is the 1st time I’ve had acne after ovulation, I’ve got stomach ache, back ache, fuzzy head slept 11 hours last night (normally get by on 7) so I will continue to take it. Plus the early ovulation, and the (so far) lengthened luteal phase.

Marvellouslymadmum · 05/04/2021 13:26

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yes it was a drop of .14 so could mean something or nothing 🤷🏼‍♀️ I had mega strong progesterone last month for the first time even I had acne and really sore boobs and wasn't taking the soy! This time it's not as bad with it 😂 my body loves to confuse me

choccrumpet · 05/04/2021 13:32

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 it is so hard 💔 try to enjoy whatever you're doing today, I know it's easier said than done. It is still early so you never know.

Your symptoms sound positive. I always get hormonal acne on my chin around this time, didn't think it had anything to do with progesterone before but it makes sense

@Marvellouslymadmum all our bodies do sadly. I won't forget a comment I saw somewhere, something about wishing that when we got pregnant our bodies would tell us and do something really obvious like our nipples turn purple and spin around as a way of announcing the pregnancy 😂 I wish that did happen

Marvellouslymadmum · 05/04/2021 13:52

@choccrumpet omg that would be amazing and incredibly funny! The most frustrating thing is the fact that everything can be a sign of af or pregnancy and as you don't tend to notice them when you're not ttc they suddenly all seem new when you are! I saw a funny one about symptom spotting and googling before, I bet if we looked at our internet history it would be like - itchy left toe, am I pregnant??? 😂

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 05/04/2021 15:04

@choccrumpet and @Marvellouslymadmum I know so many curveballs! Would hate someone to see my search history at the moment 🙈😂

That’s so weird the soys been good for you, I honestly felt dreadful the 1st three days of taking, and awful now. From googling it’s meant to be good, but who knows if we’re not all just telling ourselves that 😂🤣😂

choccrumpet · 05/04/2021 15:25

My search history 🤦🏼‍♀️😂😅 I'm prone to confirmation bias too, looking for the answer I want to confirm my symptom rather than looking at it from a more neutral perspective.

I can't deal with the wait! Who came up with this 🤦🏼‍♀️

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 06/04/2021 07:41

@Marvellouslymadmum can I ask your advice in temps as I’m pretty new to it. 11dpo and had a bit of a drop, when would you expect period to begin and ow far does it have to drop?
