Soy Isoflavones..yay or nay?

Been doing some research on soy isoflavones & I didn't know what people's opinions are?

I have a 35 day cycle, ovulate between CD17-21 - currently 7th month in of TTC after 1 early loss at 5 week in October.

Do people have any experience with taking them? I read the following on an old thread here about with CD to take them..

My concerns are; I have little/none EWCM (have conceive plus lube) but I get positive OPK every month (temping just stressed me out which I decided would do more harm?!) and I'm sure soy iso is to help ovulate? But now I've read the below, it looks as though it can help the egg. I'm cautious about messing up my cycle so was just looking to hear other people's experience.

Here's the info I've read here (have lots more saved in my notes if people want to see about the dose etc if interest) :)

Thank you x

1-5 = you produce more eggs, and ovulate sooner, with a stronger ovulation.

2-6 = you produce more eggs that usual, but not as many as taking it 1-5. Eggs may be more mature, and ovulation will be slightly more strong than 1-5.

3-7 = The best of both worlds, a few more eggs, and all eggs will be strong & mature, and ovulation will be alot stronger than 1-5.

4-8 = No more eggs will be produced, but the ones already there, will be matured alot more than usual, and ovulation will be very strong. Ovulation may only be brought forward a teeny bit.

5-9 = You'll have one very mature strong egg, from the ones you already produced on your own. Ovulation will either happen when it usually does, or a few days later, but your egg will be of great quality.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that's great news 🤗 funny how we're on different cycle days but ovulating so close together.

@hopingforababyh I'm thinking the same thing! I don't know how long my luteal phase is, I'm not sure how you measure that apart from OPKs every month but will wait and see what happens. That's so nice that you've got your sisters to talk to. I don't have anyone who has gone through the same so can feel lonely sometimes.

@Marvellouslymadmum I hope this helps you! I haven't been trying for as long as you but can relate to trying not to feel too optimistic. I really hope it works out for you!

Marvellouslymadmum · 26/03/2021 21:06

@choccrumpet thank you, it's so frustrating as when I had my two now teenagers with my previous partner I fell pregnant really quick with both! But that was when I was in my mid twenties 😑 hopefully you get some luck with them

Nat4392 · 26/03/2021 21:28

Hi, just wanted to share my soy experience! I took them for the first time on cycle 14 of trying and finally got my BFP. I did days 5-9 and just had the Tesco own brand. It was the only thing I did different that month.
In terms of little ewcm, I was the same! I did notice an improvement after taking evening primrose oil so I definitely recommend those too x

@Nat4392 that's exciting!

Someone on the other soy iso thread has just had her positive pregnancy test also on her second cycle

hopingforababyh · 29/03/2021 11:38

Eeek you guys are getting me excited for my cycle next month! I'm so hoping I get my BFP within 3 months of trying it (no way is my luck that good to get a BFP on cycle 1!)

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/03/2021 11:46

@hopingforababyh sorry I meant her second cycle of taking soy!

Dionysius · 29/03/2021 11:49

Hi, I took soy isoflavones when trying to conceive my two babies and it worked for both. Both conceived the first cycle of taking soy isoflavones. I bought them from Holland and Barrett. My periods were very long but I really feel they helped.

Dionysius · 29/03/2021 11:53

I took them on days 3-7. 3 tablets on day 3 and 4, 4 tablets on days 5 and 6 and 5 tablets on day 7. These ones www.hollandandbarrett.ie/shop/product/holland-barrett-soya-isoflavones-capsules-750mg-60000005

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/03/2021 15:38

Thanks @Dionysius that sounds really positive!

Marvellouslymadmum · 29/03/2021 17:38

@Nat4392 that's great to hear! Love a positive story

@Dionysius that's great to hear!

I've got to say this is making me feel hopeful for this or next month for me!

Dionysius · 29/03/2021 20:03

I know it says they are out of stock on the Holland and Barrett website but you can see the nutritional breakdown and how much soy is in each capsule so it might give you an idea of how much to take. I haven't read the full thread but thought it would be worthwhile telling you about my experience. My periods were quite irregular and long so I was a perfect candidate for them. I don't know if it's bs but it's supposed to help with the release of a strong egg. I have a toddler and a newborn so it definitely worked for me!

Dionysius · 29/03/2021 20:04

The best of luck on your journeys, x

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/04/2021 23:28

@Dionysius I've just had a look at yours and compared the ingredients to mine and mine literally just say 80mg isoflavons per capsule, and yours are like 750mg which is huge! I was told only a maximum of 20mg a day should be taken which is why I got those and took 2 a day on days 2-6 but maybe that's nowhere near enough 🤔

hopingforababyh · 02/04/2021 06:56

How is everyone doing?

CD20 here - started OPK's CD17 as normally ovulate CD19-21 (latest was CD23 on one cycle!) but my tests are getting fainter! Did anyone whose taken Maca roots notice ovulation changing? I'm PRAYING it was earlier this month or I'm suddenly going to get a blazing positive as I'm stressing about it 😭

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/04/2021 09:00

@Dionysius I meant a maximum of 200mg a day not 20mg 🤦🏼‍♀️

@hopingforababyh I ovulated earlier this month, not sure if it's the maca or soy but was a couple of days early

hopingforababyh · 02/04/2021 10:33

@Marvellouslymadmum oh that's good, I'm hoping I was earlier! Will keep testing but they're really stressing me out.. so much for keeping away from them this month 😅

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/04/2021 10:44

@hopingforababyh I feel like a right idiot this month. Because I've been ttc for so long I'm pretty good at mot symptom spotting a s no testing until after af but because my iron levels are now where they should be and I've taken the iso flavons my head is reading into everything! 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'll be lucky if I hold out testing this month lol

hopingforababyh · 02/04/2021 11:46

@Marvellouslymadmum it's so hard to not test isn't it.. I'm sure I start at 7DPO some months 🤣 how many DPO now?

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/04/2021 11:51

@hopingforababyh 7dpo 😂 I should be due af next Thursday/Friday so I'm hoping to distract myself and she won't turn up then I can test after the weekend as I have things going on to keep me busy then!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 02/04/2021 11:56

@Marvellouslymadmum yup me also, because I’ve taken soy, and had my early ovulation, I’m very hopeful for this month but trying not to read into anything. I’m 7dpo, and hoping to wait until Wednesday when I’ll be 12 dpo

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/04/2021 11:59

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I really haven't been this hopeful for ages and I'm kicking myself for it 😂 I've started symptom spotting again and everything 🤦🏼‍♀️ I was trying to tell myself not to get my hopes up but I didn't listen 🤷🏼‍♀️

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 02/04/2021 12:41

@Marvellouslymadmum it’s natural I think! Trying to put it out of my head. Although everyone around me seems to be pregnant at the moment, so there’s lots of baby chat etc. Sounds like you and I’ll prob be due to test at a similar time, both 7dpo

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/04/2021 12:47

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 there are literally babies and pregnant people everywhere! Yes we should be 🤞🏻 for us both!

hopingforababyh · 03/04/2021 18:26

I have my fingers crossed for you both 🤞🏻 I've had a darker opk today on CD21 so I'm hoping it goes positive at some point!

Marvellouslymadmum · 03/04/2021 20:55

@hopingforababyh ooh that's really good, hopefully it won't be too long before ovulation for you then! I am in full on symptom spotting mode today 😂 totally bloated, boobs are huge and tender, dull aches in my abdomen and back plus twingy little pokey pains mostly on my left but sometimes on the right too, dizzy, funny taste in my mouth erm think that's it for now! Unfortunately I do know that I've had all these symptoms before and got bfn so still trying not to get excited lol 🤦🏼‍♀️
