Soy Isoflavones..yay or nay?

Been doing some research on soy isoflavones & I didn't know what people's opinions are?

I have a 35 day cycle, ovulate between CD17-21 - currently 7th month in of TTC after 1 early loss at 5 week in October.

Do people have any experience with taking them? I read the following on an old thread here about with CD to take them..

My concerns are; I have little/none EWCM (have conceive plus lube) but I get positive OPK every month (temping just stressed me out which I decided would do more harm?!) and I'm sure soy iso is to help ovulate? But now I've read the below, it looks as though it can help the egg. I'm cautious about messing up my cycle so was just looking to hear other people's experience.

Here's the info I've read here (have lots more saved in my notes if people want to see about the dose etc if interest) :)

Thank you x

1-5 = you produce more eggs, and ovulate sooner, with a stronger ovulation.

2-6 = you produce more eggs that usual, but not as many as taking it 1-5. Eggs may be more mature, and ovulation will be slightly more strong than 1-5.

3-7 = The best of both worlds, a few more eggs, and all eggs will be strong & mature, and ovulation will be alot stronger than 1-5.

4-8 = No more eggs will be produced, but the ones already there, will be matured alot more than usual, and ovulation will be very strong. Ovulation may only be brought forward a teeny bit.

5-9 = You'll have one very mature strong egg, from the ones you already produced on your own. Ovulation will either happen when it usually does, or a few days later, but your egg will be of great quality.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I had a little moment before. I’m panicking now and scared my line is not progressing from 10 DPO to 12 DPO. I was expected it to be as dark as the control line because the 10 dpo was so strong . I’m so worried ☹️

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 no news, not been feeling great not sure what it is. A bit nauseous today, very mild cramping now and again and feel tired right now like I could do with a nap. It's hard to know whether I'm making it up in my head or I'm really feeling this way 😆

How have you been?

Slk3558 · 07/06/2021 14:13

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 this is definitely the most nervous I’ve been .. Wish I could be more positive but can’t help but expect the worse

Slk3558 · 07/06/2021 14:17

@choccrumpet sound like good signs to me. You gonna test early?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 07/06/2021 14:27

@Slk3558 I can see clear progression there! That looks like a good 12 dpo line. Look here's mine from 9dpo to 13 dpo. It wasn't until14 dpo that I got a line darker then the control. And many of the women on the similar due date to me group have lines paler. I know it's hard not to worry, but that's a good line.

@choccrumpet sounds very interesting!

Marvellouslymadmum · 07/06/2021 14:29

@Slk3558 that looks like a good progression line to me! unfortunately there's not really many treatments to help adenomyosis only the coil/pill which or injections which bring on a temporary menopause as far as I know so far. Apparently it only effects some people for fertility rather than all but I'm hoping there's something they can do to help that part at least as I think it's probably not helping me considering we've been ttc for 3 years. I'm certainly not giving up though, I've joined the gym recently and going to start some classes there this week as well as long walks with the dogs which is all good for it, going to try the Mediterranean diet adapted for a veggie if I can as that's good for taking inflammation away just means we've got to try harder than we already are!
@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I was ok with my august appointment as originally it was supposed to be November but now I can't wait for it!! Thank you I'll look into those, my partner said maybe I should try eating fish on the Mediterranean diet as it's so good but I've been veggie for so long I don't think I could! I'll take the oil suppliments if it helps though for ttc then stop again if we ever get there!

@choccrumpet hopefully it's definitely a good sign for you!
Thank you ladies I'm certainly nit ready to give up yet, if anything it's given me a kick to take more action xx

@Marvellouslymadmum sounds like you're really going for it! Those sound like great changes, and also enjoyable with the nice weather! It also might not be anything to do with your diagnosis at all, have you got your SA back?

I do the veggie Mediterranean diet, but take the Zita West Vital DHA also. You're only meant to eat fish no more than 2x a week for fertility anyway according to my app, but I just have lots of beans, olive oils and other fats, avocados, chickpeas, nuts, seeds, whole grains etc. The fertility recipes I get sent from Flo are often veggie also and based on the above foods. I do eat fish rarely, but weirdly find eating prawns or scallops less bad, maybe because they're smaller 🙈😂 I don't know! Could maybe start there if you did want to introduce some once a week etc.

Also you're right, August will be around before you know it!

If you do take Berberine, should mention, it's not safe for pregnancy so don't take it all cycle

choccrumpet · 07/06/2021 14:50

@Marvellouslymadmum honestly you've been amazing, your determination is admirable. Wishing so much positivity your way 🤞🏼

@Slk3558 I agree with the others, that does look like a good progression. It might be a good idea to stop testing soon.. I know easier said than done especially coming from me. You're unlikely to be able to control the outcome so don't put any more pressure on yourself by testing if that's making you overthink and upset. You're doing good so far, don't forget that x
It's definitely too early to see much of anything but yes I have been 🤣 not getting my hopes up though, trying to stay neutral.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 your tests look great!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 07/06/2021 14:54

@Marvellouslymadmum as per @choccrumpet sending so much positivity your way too. So impressed, you're brilliant

Slk3558 · 07/06/2021 14:56

Thanks @Marvellouslymadmum sending you all the best wishes and hope you get it resolved asap @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 you made me feel so much better sharing your progression, ours our the same on 12 DPO. I’ve had no more spotting. I think it’s just that fear of it all going wrong like before, I’m constantly knicker checking too!

Slk3558 · 07/06/2021 15:00

@choccrumpet you’re so right and I know it, there isn’t anything I can do to control the outcome except wait and see. The problem is we test for reassurance and then if get a good line then great but if it doesn’t give us the outcome we expect it just leads to second guessing and panicking! I really wish I could stop and just let go.

choccrumpet · 07/06/2021 15:08

@Slk3558 I know exactly what you mean, it is hard to stop and to overthink everything. Easier said than done 100%. Take it day by day, you've got this xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 07/06/2021 15:31

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 how have you found substituting the fish for a veggie option? I just don't know where to start but doing a shop tomorrow so hoping to stock up on things then. I'm not sure I could even manage prawns anymore to be honest 🤢 it's been so long now even the texture creeps me out! @choccrumpet thank you, I don't always feel this way and have my down days, had a little cry this morning, but I'm a pretty determined person when I set my mind to things. @Slk3558 thank you all, it's really helpful having you ladies to chat to! ❤️

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 07/06/2021 15:44

@Marvellouslymadmum I think anyone would have a little cry. I'm just so sorry you feel so bad and are left in limbo for another 2-3 months without info. Especially when it might not even be a cause for anything for you xx

I think if you take the cod liver oil you don't actually need to eat seafood, especially if you eat nuts seeds avocados and extra virgin olive oil etc. Plus kefir, organic natural yoghurt etc. It's not as bad for me as you, as I still eat fish a handful of times a year, whereas I know you've been properly veggie for years so I bet you feel a bit 😳 at the prospect of changing that. The Zita West DHA is not remotely fishy smelling or tasting, and it's a little green capsule rather than a big oily yellow pill so I've found that easy to take. My first cod liver oil experience was not at all enjoyable, it left a gross aftertaste 🤢

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 07/06/2021 15:56

@Marvellouslymadmum sorry for spamming you, I saw nutritionists for an anti-inflammatory diet when I had my h-pylori and was really really poorly with it. I'm trying to remember all the info.

The general gist was and lots of greens - at least ten portions of veg or fruit a day for the antioxidants. Eat nuts seeds avocados extra virgin olive oil every day. Eat plenty of organic eggs, preferably pastured. Eat grass fed butter. Take cod liver oil. Eat a lot of onions and garlic and lots of herbs in your cooking (especially turmeric). Eat pulses like beans and chickpeas and lentils, and eat whole grains and sweet potatoes and pumpkin for carbs. Cut out all refined sugar- but eat dark chocolate and cacao for antioxidants (the cake recipes were made out of cacao and dates or avocado). Eat kefir yoghurt for good digestive function so you can absorb the nutrients you're taking - a lot of people can fail at proper absorption.

When I eat purely like this I feel really good, but it's hard to stick to no treats no wine etc !

choccrumpet · 07/06/2021 16:41

@Marvellouslymadmum it's absolutely healthy to have down days and cry about it, you're only human and you need to get it out of you system every now and again. Getting back up is the hardest part and you keep doing it. You should be really proud of yourself ❤️

Marvellouslymadmum · 07/06/2021 17:31

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I don't know that I'll ever really have a divinities answer as to if it's causing issues or not as there are so many different ways it can cause problems so I just have to have hope, trust and a little pixie dust (if anyone has any going?) that something good will come if all this, I mean the positive is I've so far had every blood going and all my bits have had a thorough going over and I've only got advisories on my mot no failure lol
That's what I'm hoping with the fishy oils that they'll be enough, I'll eat all the veggies even the ones I don't like at this stage I'm giving it all a go I just don't think I can bring myself to eat the fishes 🐠 I'll have a look at the zita west one thank you.

Thank you! I'll take some notes down to add to my evenings research - it's the treats that are going to get me! But I'm guessing it's ok to have something every now and then

@choccrumpet thank you, I'm a very positive person in general but obviously things do get to me, all I can think now is I have to keep going with this I just can't bring myself to give up

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 07/06/2021 18:14

@Marvellouslymadmum exactly, I like that analogy, advisories only on the MOT. Yeah I reckon treats are def fine! We all need treats, some wine, some cake, some yummy food etc 😁 x

Marvellouslymadmum · 07/06/2021 18:23

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I'll just have to limit myself with the treats lol I rarely drink anyway so that's ok it'll be puddings, chocolate, crisps and pastry. I don't have a lot of them but maybe one or two of them once a week now x

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 07/06/2021 18:27

@Marvellouslymadmum once or twice a week is nothing! I was more about treating myself a couple times a day - wine, pastry, doughnut for someone's bday at work etc 🙈 you'll be fine!

Marvellouslymadmum · 07/06/2021 18:33

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I'm bot saying there aren't says like that but that happens more once or twice a month so I'm not too bad

Slk3558 · 08/06/2021 11:00

Hi ladies, how is everyone today?

Marvellouslymadmum · 08/06/2021 11:14

@Slk3558 positive thinking here, on my way to get a bike for some gentle exercise, then going to the gym then shopping for good foods lol how are you?

Slk3558 · 08/06/2021 11:27

Sounds like a plan! @Marvellouslymadmum. I’ve had weetabix this morning followed by egg on whole meal toast and an actimel.

I’m not vegetarian but lately finding meat so off putting I’m leaning towards quorn a lot. Also I meant to say yesterday, Ive been taking nutravita 1400 mg high strength omega 3 fish oil and so far I’ve never tasted a fishy taste or after taste I just swallow them as quick as possible and don’t let them sit on the tongue for more than a few seconds.

I’m ok, I’ve resisted the urge to test today because I know It’ll either make me happy or sad so I’ve decided not knowing might be better. I’ll just try to take each day as it comes.

choccrumpet · 08/06/2021 11:50

You go @Marvellouslymadmum ! 🙌🏼 super proactive.

Sounds like it's best for you to do that @Slk3558 ! Quorn stuff is pretty good. We use quite a lot of substitutes and vegan things and there's some yummy options out there.

I didn't sleep great, had weird dreams and tossing and turning, feeling a bit nauseous but was also so hot this morning had to take a covid test to make sure it was nothing, I was sweating so much. Back in a jumper now! Feel a bit meh in general but it's bearable. Looking forward to my vaccine tomorrow and to be somewhat protected
