Soy Isoflavones..yay or nay?

Been doing some research on soy isoflavones & I didn't know what people's opinions are?

I have a 35 day cycle, ovulate between CD17-21 - currently 7th month in of TTC after 1 early loss at 5 week in October.

Do people have any experience with taking them? I read the following on an old thread here about with CD to take them..

My concerns are; I have little/none EWCM (have conceive plus lube) but I get positive OPK every month (temping just stressed me out which I decided would do more harm?!) and I'm sure soy iso is to help ovulate? But now I've read the below, it looks as though it can help the egg. I'm cautious about messing up my cycle so was just looking to hear other people's experience.

Here's the info I've read here (have lots more saved in my notes if people want to see about the dose etc if interest) :)

Thank you x

1-5 = you produce more eggs, and ovulate sooner, with a stronger ovulation.

2-6 = you produce more eggs that usual, but not as many as taking it 1-5. Eggs may be more mature, and ovulation will be slightly more strong than 1-5.

3-7 = The best of both worlds, a few more eggs, and all eggs will be strong & mature, and ovulation will be alot stronger than 1-5.

4-8 = No more eggs will be produced, but the ones already there, will be matured alot more than usual, and ovulation will be very strong. Ovulation may only be brought forward a teeny bit.

5-9 = You'll have one very mature strong egg, from the ones you already produced on your own. Ovulation will either happen when it usually does, or a few days later, but your egg will be of great quality.

@choccrumpet he takes acidophilus which are supposed to be good, he was on the 3billion friendly bacteria but we've just upped it to 5 billion.

I've got a referral to gynaecologist in august for fertility and going to speak to them about the endo then, the doc thinks it's that so hopefully they'll do a laparoscopy then offer me clomid 🤞🏻 may give the aspirin a try though and if anything works (highly unlikely with 3.2 years ttc) then the lap can wait! Chances are it's endo and making it harder to conceive but we will see

Would recommend Elixa probiotics for a one off course, just five days or ten days a year. They really sorted me out www.elixa-probiotic.com/uk/

Slk3558 · 04/06/2021 17:25

I had a bit of brown discharge before and feeling a bit crampy..hope this is not the start of a chemical .. I did a test earlier and it was darker than yesterday but I’ve never spotted at this DPO with previous BFPs ☹️

choccrumpet · 04/06/2021 19:33

@Marvellouslymadmum I take the same, they definitely help but unsure if they're as good as Symprove which I was on before but is fairly expensive to keep up.
You're doing all the right things for now at least!

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I haven't heard of those, sounds interesting to only take 5 or 10 days a year.

@Slk3558 when is your period due? Hopefully it's just old blood as it's brown. Could you speak to your doc or contact epu at this point? Hopefully all is okay!

Marvellouslymadmum · 04/06/2021 20:33

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 amazing I'll have a look at those thank you!

@Slk3558 it's quite normal to spot in early pregnancy, I did in my last one.

@choccrumpet sometimes when it really flares up we end up cutting out caffeine (which he's not on now anyway with ttc) dairy and gluten and that seems to do it but it's hard going!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 04/06/2021 22:34

@choccrumpet I've heard really good things about Symprove! I had a parasite thing (h pylori) picked up from travelling and it destroyed my stomach. I did the ten day course after all of the antibiotics and treatments and the constant nausea, reflux, upset stomach etc went.

@Slk3558 if your line is stronger that's confusing, and hopefully definitely not a chemical. Did you get through the the Drs to get some more progesterone? Maybe you could ask them. Hope you're okay, hopefully it's implantation bleeding pretty some weird effect from the cream

Slk3558 · 05/06/2021 11:52

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I managed to get progesterone, I got through to EPU after 1 hour of calling and had to beg the senior doctor and she said she would be willing to trial it . I got the prescription 5 mins before the pharmacy closed yesterday. The spotting seems to have stopped after taking 2 pessaries so far, I haven’t done another test as I’m scared the line won’t have progressed.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 05/06/2021 16:06

@Slk3558 that's awesome you got hold of some and the spotting has stopped. Might as well wait for first urine tomorrow. Good luck x

Marvellouslymadmum · 05/06/2021 23:00

@Slk3558 that's great that you got the progesterone ok! 🤞🏻 for you

Slk3558 · 06/06/2021 13:31

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 @Marvellouslymadmum thanks .. I’ve done another frer yesterday and It was a lot darker. I’m praying this one sticks. Xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 06/06/2021 13:41

@Slk3558 that's great news! Everything crossed for you!!

I'm back in limbo land lol my temp went up before the last peak stayed up for a day and now went back down a little bit they still haven't been as high as normal so who knows what's going on now!!

choccrumpet · 06/06/2021 13:56

@Slk3558 glad to hear you're doing okay!

@Marvellouslymadmum that's really frustrating, I'm sorry ☹️

Slk3558 · 06/06/2021 14:11

Thanks @choccrumpet. I’m still more petrified than I’ve ever been!! I think it’s cause I want this so bad.

@Marvellouslymadmum that is frustrating especially when temping is supposed to take the confusion out of ttc.

Mine went up a day after my LH surge and then went back down to pre ov temps the day after and then spiked again the next day. It’s funny when I don’t get the answer I want from temping I start convincing myself ‘maybe temping isn't always accurate’.

I deffo understand how frustrating it is to have a confusing cycle . I had 10 days of ewcm for the last two cycles which is obviously not normal.. have faith and as long as you dtd every couple of days you’re at least covering your bases.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 06/06/2021 18:38

@Slk3558 that's great news!

choccrumpet · 06/06/2021 21:15

@Slk3558 I'm not surprised! Hopefully the progesterone is helping and doing what it needs to do.

I'm 5DPO today and had a bit of blood when I wiped. I've never spotted before my period so unsure what this is, trying not to worry. I haven't had it since which I take as a positive. Anyone had anything similar before?

Marvellouslymadmum · 06/06/2021 22:57

@choccrumpet @Slk3558 it's so frustrating! We will try to continue dtd I just hope ovulation happens soon!

@choccrumpet it could be implantation bleeding, I had this with one of my pregnancies

choccrumpet · 07/06/2021 08:40

@Marvellouslymadmum you're covering your basis so I'm really hoping it happens soon for you. Don't forget to look after yourself too x

I'm not really sure, it was like a diluted / lighter red and not a pink or brown like I've seen others mention. But I haven't had it since so hopefully all good.

Marvellouslymadmum · 07/06/2021 09:40

@choccrumpet when I had ib it was like that most of the time, 🤞🏻 for you.

I'm not sure what to do now, temp went down again this morning so still no ovulation and just had my scan results and they've said I have adenomyosis which means I prob do have endo aswell and it's going to be incredibly hard to get pg (explains why we've been ttc for 3 years) and even if I do it's a higher risk of mc or not going to term 😢

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 07/06/2021 09:57

@Marvellouslymadmum I'm so sorry about your tests. Hopefully they can now give you a laparoscopy or a hysteroscopy and that'll make all the difference. Do you have a follow up consult soon? So annoying that you have suspected this and been trying for a long while, and the Drs have only just got to this point.

Hope you're okay xxx

choccrumpet · 07/06/2021 10:03

I'm sorry @Marvellouslymadmum I hope you're okay. Hopefully you can get the right treatment that will help. Take care of yourself 💕

Marvellouslymadmum · 07/06/2021 10:17

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 @choccrumpet thank you, this was diagnosed through the gp sending me for a scan, I haven't even got to gynaecology yet! I have an appointment in august so hopefully they'll send me for a lap then but tbh it can still cause infertility in so many ways and it's all just a nightmare, I'm going from 'well it could still happen' to 'that's it this will never happen for us I may as well give up now!' At the moment. Unfortunately there's no treatment for adenomyosis other than having a hysterectomy which I won't be doing just yet! So all I can hope is that by getting any endometriosis removed and taking down inflammation in my body which is a major problem with it I may just have a chance!

Slk3558 · 07/06/2021 11:00

@Marvellouslymadmum I’m sorry that you got that news, once you get referred to gyno specialist there’s all kinds of treatment they can do to manage it. I read about a woman who got put on meds for it and got her eggs frozen and then went under IVF once it was under control, she was early 40s.

Anything is possible these days, don’t give up hope xx

@choccrumpet I hope your random bleeding on 5dpo was a good sign. It is unusual to get spotting that early on, if it’s stopped now I’d say that’s a good sign !?

Let us know how you go x

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 hope you getting on okay!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 07/06/2021 11:36

@Marvellouslymadmum I'm so sorry. Agreeing with @Slk3558 there will definitely be things they can do, Aug seems so far away for a gynaecologist however 😢

I know this won't work as well as proper treatment, but having had a look there have been some promising recent studies on immunology and endometriosis, such as taking Berberine, resversatrol, NAC and fish oils. And bio-identical progesterone, which can reduce size and number of lesions.

Please don't lose hope. It's shitty of them to tell you with no quick access to a specialist. That's only going to leave you worrying and thinking the worst.

Lots of love xx

choccrumpet · 07/06/2021 12:54

@Marvellouslymadmum I echo what everyone else is saying! You've remained hopeful for this long, don't let this change that. Knowledge is power and hopefully now you will get the right assistance that you need. ❤️

@Slk3558 I've never spotted before my period due date so it's extremely unusual for me. I've been feeling mild crampiness on and off for a few days but it comes and goes. Still a long way to go until my period is due.

I've been invited to get the vaccine on Wednesday, was too excited to receive the text but am also preparing for my cycles to be a bit messed up afterwards going by some others experiences.

Hope you're both doing well @Slk3558 @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 07/06/2021 13:20

@choccrumpet how're you feeling after the spotting? Any more news?

@Slk3558 any progress on your tests?
