Soy Isoflavones..yay or nay?

Been doing some research on soy isoflavones & I didn't know what people's opinions are?

I have a 35 day cycle, ovulate between CD17-21 - currently 7th month in of TTC after 1 early loss at 5 week in October.

Do people have any experience with taking them? I read the following on an old thread here about with CD to take them..

My concerns are; I have little/none EWCM (have conceive plus lube) but I get positive OPK every month (temping just stressed me out which I decided would do more harm?!) and I'm sure soy iso is to help ovulate? But now I've read the below, it looks as though it can help the egg. I'm cautious about messing up my cycle so was just looking to hear other people's experience.

Here's the info I've read here (have lots more saved in my notes if people want to see about the dose etc if interest) :)

Thank you x

1-5 = you produce more eggs, and ovulate sooner, with a stronger ovulation.

2-6 = you produce more eggs that usual, but not as many as taking it 1-5. Eggs may be more mature, and ovulation will be slightly more strong than 1-5.

3-7 = The best of both worlds, a few more eggs, and all eggs will be strong & mature, and ovulation will be alot stronger than 1-5.

4-8 = No more eggs will be produced, but the ones already there, will be matured alot more than usual, and ovulation will be very strong. Ovulation may only be brought forward a teeny bit.

5-9 = You'll have one very mature strong egg, from the ones you already produced on your own. Ovulation will either happen when it usually does, or a few days later, but your egg will be of great quality.

@katewitch I have to, I'm 42 now and if we don't get our bfp soon I fear it'll be too late for us. You never know it could be ib I've seen lots of people say their first sign of a bfp is cold like symptoms!

@gimmeavino I haven't had pelvic bloating really mines all lower abdomen so I can't help I'm afraid

gimmeavino · 03/06/2021 09:54

@Marvellouslymadmum @choccrumpet thank you both! Maybe it's just that it's something new and will hopefully ease in the next day or two

Slk3558 · 03/06/2021 13:45

Oh girls I’m having one of those days ..only 8 DPO and itching to test. 😩

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 03/06/2021 13:58

@katewitch thanks so much. Sorry for another long cycle 😐 have you had hormone tests at the Drs just to check?

@Marvellouslymadmum now you've sorted the iron, the vaccine, the vitamins and partners smoking and vitamins it's looking positive. 🤞 very soon!

@Slk3558 are you wanting to hold off testing til you watch your temps?

Slk3558 · 03/06/2021 14:03

@katewitch I haven’t temped for a couple of days but I suppose I could temp 10 DPO to see if any temp drop. I don’t know I think I just wanna see a line so badly . 🙄

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 03/06/2021 14:12

@Slk3558 maybe a little test tomorrow then. Mine was an extremely light faint line st 8dpo on a frer

Slk3558 · 03/06/2021 14:59

Was that 8 DPO AM or PM ? 😜

choccrumpet · 03/06/2021 17:21

Omg @Slk3558 😂 I'm so glad I'm not the only one lol. I'm 2pdo and can't stop thinking about it and counting down until i can start testing. I think I've got an addiction. I enjoy peeing on a stick too much. I'd say AM for sure 😂😂 I need my hands tied up and all tests taken away

Marvellouslymadmum · 03/06/2021 17:52

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 you never know! Though I've found out today it could be the maca that's delayed ov this month, apparently it can do that especially on the first cycle then it works itself out after a bit but means it must be doing something anyway!! How are you feeling?
@Slk3558 good luck if you decide to test!!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 03/06/2021 18:01

@Slk3558 actually do you know what, it was lunchtime 😂 I honestly don't even normally test, just watch the temps and wait. As @choccrumpet knows!

@Marvellouslymadmum oh blimey i didn't even think of the maca. Good thanks, been hiking today. Been a bit constipated which has made me very nauseous too 😳 nothing glam over here

Marvellouslymadmum · 03/06/2021 20:09

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 ahh sounds like fun! All good though to get that end result

Slk3558 · 04/06/2021 09:01

Good morning everyone. Well I used my left over FRER yesterday at lunch time as I was peeing a lot more than usual despite not drinking much.

Soy Isoflavones..yay or nay?
Slk3558 · 04/06/2021 09:02

I was gobsmacked and couldn’t believe my eyes

choccrumpet · 04/06/2021 09:12

@Slk3558 congratulations!!! I'm enjoying the positives we've got going in this thread ☺️ how are you feeling?

Slk3558 · 04/06/2021 09:25

I’m absolutely terrified, so many things running through my mind. This is 3rd BFP after 2 mc like @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 don’t wanna get my hopes up, I’ve never had a positive at 8 dpo before.

Things I added on this month

40mg progesterone cream daily
150 mg baby asprin
800iu vitamin E
2000 mg fish oil (omega 3)

Would deffo recommend the cream for all those who suspect low progesterone/short luteal phase .. I kept thinking if I can just get enough extra progesterone so the egg can implant to produce HCG so I can rescue the corpus luteum from dying. Crazy I know but I think there might be some logic in there ...

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 04/06/2021 10:09

@Slk3558 congratulations!!! That's a good line for so early as well! Completely understand the anxiety (I'm still checking every time I go to the loo and panicking over cramps or boobs aching less) but you've got a decent early line and the progesterone this time also. Great news

Slk3558 · 04/06/2021 11:57

@choccrumpet @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thanks, it’s so scary when you’ve had multiple losses I have no idea how I’m going to get through these next few weeks if I (god willing) even get there !!! Im going to call the EPU and ask for medical progesterone because I really cannot go through another loss

How are you both today?

choccrumpet · 04/06/2021 12:51

@Slk3558 I completely understand how you feel, I think I'd feel the same sadly. And I did the exact same as you mention before my past losses @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 checking every time I think I feel something leaking, and it's actually really sad and hurts my heart to think about. I'm really rooting for you ladies 💕

I'm 3dpo feeling fine, nothing to report. My tummy has been all over the place past 3 days though, sorry if this is tmi for anyone 🙈 I keep needing to go for a number 2 multiple times a day, especially in the morning. I'm on week 6 of doing couch to 5k and this has never been an issue but the past 2 runs I've been desperate to use the toilet halfway through the run, this morning was so bad I had to go home. I'm thinking it's either my IBS (but it has never been this bad) or this seems to be a thing that runners get which could be it but I don't know, or it's something else completely. My diet hasn't changed, nothing has changed. It's so frustrating 😅 also feeling impatient to test but that's normal

Marvellouslymadmum · 04/06/2021 13:55

@Slk3558 amazing! Congratulations so good to see the bfps here. What brand of progesterone cream were you using as I'm thinking of trying that next month, did you take the baby aspirin all month too?

@choccrumpet my oh is having ibs issues at the moment too but the opposite problem to you and he's started going to the gym the last couple of weeks too!

Apparently it's ovulation day again 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ last few days Lh has gone lower and lower then today total dye stealer positive, more positive than I've ever got on a strip before! It's cd28 temp 36.45 again today so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 hoping it'll go up the next few days. My apps have all changed again but most of them think af was due a couple of days ago or today so keep telling me to test 🙄 got to persuade the oh to dtd today again now 🙈

Slk3558 · 04/06/2021 14:13

@Marvellouslymadmum thanks 🙏hopefully this will be the final surge for you and then you can relax after ov.

It was through a US vitamin site I bought the websites own brand cause it was cheaper but I’ve reordered ‘now progesterone’ as this is quite well known.

www.luckyvitamin.com/p-5534162-luckytru-progesterone-cream-unscented-3-oz.

All the creams are reasonable priced in US but you have to pay DHL delivery fee I think it was £6 fee and it comes in about 7-10days and you can track it in transit x

I took the baby asprin from ovulation. from what I’ve ready it’s after ovulation that blood supply can get a bit slow due to all the blood flowing to and from the corpus luteum.

Slk3558 · 04/06/2021 14:15

@choccrumpet I always get a bit upset stomach after ov, it’s due to the rise in progesterone. I have IBS too suffer with constipation a lot especially when AF comes as hormones are at all time low. Xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 04/06/2021 14:19

@Slk3558 5)3 now progesterone is the one I've been looking too! It's funny some people say about the baby aspirin from ovulation and some say not until you get a bfp thinking I may just give them both a go!

choccrumpet · 04/06/2021 15:51

@Marvellouslymadmum oh no, I feel for him, it's not fun!

Yay for dye stealer, this sounds like it might be the real thing finally 🤞🏼 I bet you'll both be delighted to have a bit of a break!

@Slk3558 ive got mild IBS but probably lean towards IBS-D and you might be right about the progesterone! It's never been this bad so maybe that's a sign of increased progesterone? Who knows what's caused this. It normally gets worse during my period but not really before. It's a massive pain (literally) during running though, I don't know how to cope with that 🙈

Re aspirin I've taken it twice from around ovulation/fertile week, have done a fair bit of research about it and yes people say to take it differently but I have heard of specialists recommending from ovulation and I'm sure some say from BFP. At the end of the day you try whichever way you're most comfortable with @Marvellouslymadmum I didn't have any side effects from it and my period was a little more flowy than normal but not massively.

My acupuncturist said that because my period can start and stop on the first day and having a few clots suggests the blood isn't flowing as well as it should be. I didn't ask but wonder if that means my blood is a little stickier and aspirin could have a positive affect. May be they are signs to look out for in your own periods? That's not scientific though, rather my own conclusion

Marvellouslymadmum · 04/06/2021 16:03

@choccrumpet it's awful for him, he can be both ibs-c or d just depends and he gets so much pain with it! It better be it if I think this month may get written off!

Mine is mega heavy and very clotty for the first 2 days then usually light day three then spotting fir 1-7 days! I get really bad pain too abdo and lower back and lot of other symptoms which could be endo but I could try the aspirin and see if that helps!

choccrumpet · 04/06/2021 16:26

@Marvellouslymadmum that is really tough. Has he tried probiotics? I find they really help me (although my cycle can make it worse at times and nothing helps that really).

Apparently our periods are meant to be bright red and good flow throughout without any symptoms. Who knew 🤦🏼‍♀️ maybe you should try acupuncture on top of everything else 🙃 (joking - ttcing is ridiculous). Your symptoms might be to do with endo then? Aspirin shouldn't hurt to try 🤞🏼 but don't think it'll help with the blood flow long term
