Soy Isoflavones..yay or nay?

moly39x · 21/03/2021 23:33

Been doing some research on soy isoflavones & I didn't know what people's opinions are?

I have a 35 day cycle, ovulate between CD17-21 - currently 7th month in of TTC after 1 early loss at 5 week in October.

Do people have any experience with taking them? I read the following on an old thread here about with CD to take them..

My concerns are; I have little/none EWCM (have conceive plus lube) but I get positive OPK every month (temping just stressed me out which I decided would do more harm?!) and I'm sure soy iso is to help ovulate? But now I've read the below, it looks as though it can help the egg. I'm cautious about messing up my cycle so was just looking to hear other people's experience.

Here's the info I've read here (have lots more saved in my notes if people want to see about the dose etc if interest) :)

Thank you x

1-5 = you produce more eggs, and ovulate sooner, with a stronger ovulation.

2-6 = you produce more eggs that usual, but not as many as taking it 1-5. Eggs may be more mature, and ovulation will be slightly more strong than 1-5.

3-7 = The best of both worlds, a few more eggs, and all eggs will be strong & mature, and ovulation will be alot stronger than 1-5.

4-8 = No more eggs will be produced, but the ones already there, will be matured alot more than usual, and ovulation will be very strong. Ovulation may only be brought forward a teeny bit.

5-9 = You'll have one very mature strong egg, from the ones you already produced on your own. Ovulation will either happen when it usually does, or a few days later, but your egg will be of great quality.

@choccrumpet on the other hand, hopefully you'll have a lovely mature egg when it finally happens!

@Frankie2015 I think you are meant to ramp it up, I wouldn't jump straight in with 200mg. This cycle I took (days 3-5) 100, 150, 150, 200, 200. Ovulated CD14. Ovulated CD14 last time also, but took a lower dose days 2-6 (100, 100, 100, 150, 200)

choccrumpet · 29/04/2021 11:38

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yes hopefully but Im not holding out much hope for this cycle, it's been a tough emotional one for me and I think having an effect on my partner so bding hasn't been going that well. For us, the longer my fertile week is the harder we find it and this has been the longest with no end in sight! So whatever happens happens

Frankie2015 · 29/04/2021 11:40

Thank you @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 and @choccrumpet!! I'll try the same I think and see how I go!! Can't hurt! My cycle range from 30-57 days so hoping this pull it in!

IntergalacticP · 29/04/2021 11:43

Thank you @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 and @choccrumpet. How was your acupuncture?

No pretty sure it was just a bad batch! Posted on Reddit and someone else said they had the same issue with wondfo tests in an easy at home box they got off Amazon so think it was the same batch. But as you say, on upside my period is finally here so at least can start again this cycle and stop being in limbo.

@Frankie2015 I'm going to do day 3-5 100, 150, 150, 200, 200 as that seemed to work somewhat for me last month. Good luck Smile

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/04/2021 11:55

@choccrumpet maybe take a break til you get a positive opk this month, then put all your energy there. No point massively stressing yourselves out, especially men, where 'performance' can come into it. Feels like a chore to be constantly having loads of sex!

@IntergalacticP that's really rubbish with the tests, and awful to get peoples hopes up. I'm still really impressed it might have started your period, hadn't heard of that.

Acupuncture was good thanks, had 3rd session this week. I don't notice anything too different still, but I feel good doing something proactive. She's really nice also, and makes time to explain what she's doing and why.

choccrumpet · 29/04/2021 11:55

@IntergalacticP my acupuncture is at 5pm today so will report back afterwards 🤗 the other lady whom my friend goes to actually came back to me so I'm having a chat with her, I get a really good feeling about her so may end up switching to her after this first session.

FYI apparently wondfo is the same brand as easy@home and the other way around hence why you got them in that box! I've only used easy@home so can't say how they compare.

choccrumpet · 29/04/2021 11:58

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that's a good idea, haven't thought of doing that. Tbh I've been expecting to see a peak for a few days now so that's why we kept going or trying to so good idea to stop for now..

Do you feel anything different energy wise, mood wise anything else at all?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/04/2021 12:04

@choccrumpet blimey you were quick getting that arranged and straight in! No messing about there 😂 Good luck. Ahh if you get a good feeling about her, and she's recommended, sounds good.

Yes I do feel really positive after a session. I have a lot of energy and I'm waking up earlier (I'm def not a morning person but have been naturally waking up at 6.30am). BUT I also started taking ubiquinol and vit C at the same time. My partner feels really good with his acupuncture though, and can already move his shoulder more from an old rugby injury than he's been able to in years. He's booked himself in for another month

choccrumpet · 29/04/2021 13:04

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 when I said I've got no patience left I meant it 😂 I wanted it booked in as soon as possible instead of having to wait around so got lucky there. I'll give this guy a try anyways and see how it goes and take it from there.

The other woman has had some sort of fertility training as well. Do you know what the difference is between that and someone who is Zita West trained? I'm going to ask her when we speak as I am curious to know.

That sounds amazing! Especially that both of you are seeing improvements. If nothing else I hope I'll feel better in myself and more energetic. Whichever one it is at least you're feeling some improvements which has to be a positive thing!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/04/2021 13:12

@choccrumpet I'm impressed 😂 I don't know, but if she has fertility training also, she's been recommended and you got a good feeling about her, I'd go for it. Probably the only difference is price, as I heard the Zita West training can be pricey! Although I know she is more expensive in your case than your guy today.

Good luck let us know how you get on later!

ploopypleepy · 29/04/2021 17:22

ploopypleepy · 29/04/2021 17:24

Soy Isoflavones..yay or nay?
ploopypleepy · 29/04/2021 18:07

Just checked the other test I havnt used and it's got the same line so it's just an indent !!! How annoying

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/04/2021 18:09

@ploopypleepy I've read about the frers having terrible indents recently, its the last thing we need really in getting our hopes up. Try again tomorrow! When're you due on?

ploopypleepy · 29/04/2021 18:15

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yeah I've just looked at the other test and it's the same! Annoying seen as I actually splashed out on first response this time rather than one step haha. Due on on Saturday I'll try then!!

choccrumpet · 29/04/2021 18:57

@ploopypleepy I do see a line! But I also love seeing lines. I hope it's a true line for you 🤞🏼

So I had my acupuncture session... not quite sure about it. He felt my stomach & head temperatures and pulse and said I've got a deep pulse, warm head but cold stomach/body which indicates that my body is weak and deficient in nutrients. He kept referring to protein specifically but said I could get it all checked via blood tests. Throughout the session he kept coming back to me being a veggie being the issue, not eating meat so I'm not getting enough nutrients and therefore my body is struggling and why I'm tired. I agree that I might be deficient in something as the level of tiredness I'm feeling lately can't be normal but I don't agree with meat being the only option I've got if there is an issue. It was literally the main thing he focused on, saying he'd be surprised if he can do anything to change it, gave me an example of another patient he had that eventually had to eat meat to fix a similar issue. I felt like he was completely against veggies. We briefly went over my meals but not in detail and he wrongly assumed a few things and I had to correct him because he didn't actually ask me those questions in the first place. In the session he focused on bringing blood flow to my stomach/body.

I'm disappointed as to how the session went. I won't be going back to him. Should be chatting to the other woman tomorrow so I'm really interested to see what she says and if it's any different.

Marvellouslymadmum · 29/04/2021 18:58

@choccrumpet to be honest I didn't even pay that much attention just bought Tesco pomegranate juice 😂 woah that's pricey!

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yes! I've got my oh on it too lol can't hurt!!

@IntergalacticP aww I'm sorry and showed for you, so disheartening

@Frankie2015 hi! I'd definitely start with 100mg minimum

@ploopypleepy I'd try again Saturday tests are such a nightmare!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/04/2021 19:05

@choccrumpet that sounds really bizarre, and quite hectoring rather than relaxing in any way! Maybe try the other lady, if you even want to give it another go.

choccrumpet · 29/04/2021 19:12

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 it was relaxing enough I just didn't like how he kept referring back to me not eating meat is the problem and the only way for me to fix it is to eat meat. It came across like he's got an issue with people not eating meat. I don't want to be forced to do something I don't want to unless there's a good reason to. It's like he already knew what he thought I should do before actually treating me.

I'll definitely speak to the other woman and hope it's a better experience 🤞🏼 and I still want to try it again, I'm sure I need to give it a few goes before I notice a difference

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/04/2021 19:17

@choccrumpet yeah it does sound a bit like that, really disappointing ☹

Marvellouslymadmum · 29/04/2021 19:54

@choccrumpet that's sounds quite odd, I have had my protein levels checked as part of the many blood tests taken and it was almost at the maximum - I was pleasantly surprised!

TheHotelCalifornia · 29/04/2021 20:29

Hey ladies, how are we all doing? Just catching up – I’ve been trying not to think about TTC so much so had a bit of a break from MN and it’s actually been really good for me.

I’m on CD18 – had 3 days in a row of flashing smileys on the CB Advanced and 2 days before that of blank. Really hoping ovulation happens in the next few days and that the soy has done something to help. We’re going to keep DTD every other day until I get peak I think as otherwise it’s exhausting. I ovulated on CD27 last cycle so I would absolutely love it to be before then.

@choccrumpet sorry to hear about your disappointing acupuncture experience, I’d have been really annoyed! I don’t eat meat either but I do eat fish and seafood occasionally. I really don’t think there is anything in meat that you can’t get from vitamins or supplements if not in veggies, and regardless, you absolutely shouldn’t have to just start eating meat as if that’s the only option!! I’d have kicked off hah! Will be interesting to see what your lady says when you go to her.

@ploopypleepy I'm so sorry it was an indent :(

@IntergalacticP I’m so sorry to hear that you had an indent ☹ such bad luck and so cruel. I really hope your next cycle isn’t as long. My first cycle off the pill was 108 days so I feel your pain. They’ve got a bit shorter but I had a miscarriage in January so my hormones have been messed up and they are still long and annoying. Sucks that we don’t get as many chances to TTC as others ☹ keeping my fingers crossed that this is your lucky cycle xxx

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I feel your pain on the becoming obsessed thing. I swear I used to be so fun and now all I do is talk and think about TTC it’s mad. We’ve booked a little minibreak for Aug and if we’re actually allowed to fly anywhere in the autumn you can bet your bottom dollar we’ll be booking somewhere last minute. My thermometer beep also wakes my BF up haha but he’s started using the time productively to down a glass of water at 5am ahead of going for a run at 6am! So actually I’m doing him a favour hahaha! Xxx

@riverskye any news on AF?

@tiggywinkle13 any updates for us?

@Marvellouslymadmum interesting about the nosebleed! Any updates since then?

TheHotelCalifornia · 29/04/2021 20:30

Sorry @ploopypleepy pressed send too soon! Def test again in a day or so and please keep us updated!! xxxx

Riverskye · 29/04/2021 20:51

@TheHotelCalifornia fingers crossed you ovulate soon! I'm currently CD65, I've finally managed to book a GP appointment/phone call to try and get the ball rolling on some assistance. I've only had 4 periods since coming off birth control in July so a bit fed up tbh!

choccrumpet · 29/04/2021 20:55

@TheHotelCalifornia welcome back 🤗 great that you're feeling better! Hopefully you'll see a peak soon. We've been dtd every second day for over a week, almost 2 and we're both tired of it 😂😅 so I feel you on that one. Yay it's great that so many of you ladies here are veggies, definitely helping me feel like I haven't completely lost it after that session! I almost kicked off at him 🤣 but decided against it as didn't think there would be any point. I also eat fish about once a week.
