Cheekster congrats, go see the doc for a chat about the pains and put your mind at rest?

ladylush · 12/11/2007 22:26

Had lots of ds's baby clothes in storage which had gone mouldy so had to wash them all. Luckily they survived ok and smell/look fine. Felt sad thinking how cute they will look on his brother/sister........ but was also nice to reminisce about his baby days and to marvel at how he ever fitted into him. I showed him them today and he looked in disbelief when I said here's the hat you used to wear etc!

TwilightSurfer · 12/11/2007 22:30

Hi [smile}. I've been referred to this thread as I MC last Friday at 10 weeks. I'm not really feeling gloomy. Physically I feel incredible. I just don't know what to expect now and thought it best to seek out a cozy spot to sit for a while, reflect and converse with others with similar circumstances.

Cheekster · 12/11/2007 22:32

Thanks everyone for your great advice and comments.Im going to take every day as it comes and hope for the best.

sk - I think I'll give it a week or so before I dare join you in the 'due july thread' im sure youll understand why.

Right off for an early night - Im so tired lately its untrue.

ClairePO · 12/11/2007 22:44

Hi Twilight and welcome, so sorry again about your mc

I felt physically fine after mine too - in fact the crushing tiredness I had felt every afternoon while pregnant lifted so I actually felt physically better. Emotionally was much more difficult for me.

Make yourself at home and welcome again.

LoveAngelGabriel · 12/11/2007 23:04

Hi all. Just passing through briefly to say hello. Twilight, I'm very sorry to hear about your m/c. I hope you'll find the support you need here, or at least find some solace in talking to others who have been through it. I m/c nearly 3 weeks ago now, was only 6 weeks pregnant but it still came as a bit of a blow. Like you, I felt physically ok pretty quickly, but strangely numb emotionally. I keep waiting for it to hit me - maye it will, maybe it won't, who knows? Anyway, welcome aboard. Hopefully you won't be here long (in the nicest possible way!).

grinningbee · 12/11/2007 23:36

Hi Starlight

Sounds like you're in the same boat as me. I'm on about 34 days post mc with no sign of AF at the moment. I feel as if I'm about to (I've been weeing on sticks too!). I've been trying to tell my body today to hurry up and get on with it!

I suppose we're still recovering hormone wise and that's why our cycles are a bit squiffy.

Do you have any AF symptoms? (or pg ones for that matter!)

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 13/11/2007 01:17

Thanks Claire & LAG. I'm a planner and this MC was only a minor setback. Just need time to strategize. I refuse to be sad because nature did it's thing. I made one healthy baby (DD 3.5yrs). I can do it again. Not every apple on the tree is perfect that's why the tree produces more than one.

So feel free to share the basics with the newbie . What's the typical time frame for cycle to return to normal? Has anyone's GP told them to hold off ttc...how long?? I'm asking all this because my doctor sort of left me out in the cold. She confirmed my MC and that was about it. Needless to say I will not be seeing her again FOR ANY REASON.

ClairePO · 13/11/2007 07:13

Twilight they recommend leaving until you get your first AF after mc so that they can date it properly and so that anything left in your womb is cleared out as they described it to me.

Tested with a CB toay at CD26 an its BFN

cricri · 13/11/2007 08:32

Twilight Sorry you had to join us, but as others have said, hopefully you'll derive comfort from this thread and other people's experiences. I know I have since my mc in September.
In reply to your question, DH and I started ttc as soon as I stopped bleeding. AF came exactly 4 weeks after mc, which I was disappointed about, but I guess it was for the best. I'm now on CD29 of cycle 2 post-mc.
TJuice Good to hear from you but sorry you're feeling rough. I guess it's a good sign though. The brownies sounded yummy by the way!
ClairePO Sorry about BFN but perhaps it's still too early. Test again in a couple of days. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
For my part I'm trying hard to keep away from the pg tests - AF due today in theory. Thought she was coming last night - headache, cramps etc. but nothing so far. Cramps and headache have now gone which I suppose is one thing!
Hope everybody is OK this morning.

mcchesers · 13/11/2007 09:09

morning!

Sounds like some promising symptoms ladies.

My GP told me to go forth and multiply as soon as I felt like it. I waited for my first AF and then immediately BFP. I was still sore from the mc, so a bit nervous about being pregnant so quickly. I'm detaching myself from it though, because with my MC..it was a blighted ovum that just stayed put. It never really grew beyond 3 weeks and then wouldn't come away and I had to have the chemical dnc.

It took what seemed like ages to come around emotionally but the clouds did lift and my GP (after she got over the shock of me being preg so quick) has said she will do whatever I want to do and sent the referral right away.

We don't have any LOs so here's hoping this bean is growing strong!!

OracleInaCoracle · 13/11/2007 09:28

morning ladies, how are we feeling today.

twilight, sorry you are here, but you have a really good attitude. im impressed

still sick, booobs have gone up a size and are vv veiny. had some backache yesterday, which has gone today....
i dont mind telling you, i'm a little bit scared now!

Gracie14 · 13/11/2007 09:32

Hi all,

Sorry its taken ages for me to post had a busy weekend.

Splish - Thanks for the website it has definately helped me understand MC abit better and what could happen after.

Twlight - Sorry to hear about your MC, mine was just over 2 weeks ago and I was told by the nurse to just carry on TTC straight away if I felt up to it. Although not sure what is going on with my cycle at the moment I suppose it just depends on each individual person. So pleased your staying positive hope you get your BFP very soon

Cheekster + mcchesers - Congrats so pleased for you

I'm actually feeling abit guilty this week that I'm physically feeling better than I have done for a long time. Is that normal I don't want to think too much about the MC as I don't think it will help with TTC again. I had a really low time after not managing to get pregnant after about 8 months of trying and I really don't want to go back there so doing the most I can to keep busy and not become obsessive again (Am I convincing anyone that I'm not obsessive )

TwilightSurfer · 13/11/2007 10:41

Ladies, thanks for the mc/ttc information. It really hurt to not have my doctor explain anything. I'm starting my quest for a new OB/GYN today (states are bit diff from uk in this area).

What an amazing bunch on this thread. Starting ttc so quickly...4 weeks. WOW! I guess ultimately the mc could be considered just a really bad af (symptomwise) so you don't have to go through the same waiting/healing process as a full-term birth. VERY PROMISING !

Is it a good idea to test once a week to help determine when all the hCG is gone? The nurse tested me yesterday and I'm still testing positive, of course.

Oh and did anyone have achey ovaries following their mc? My left one feels oddly a bit swollen. [That's probably a good question for my new doctor.]

mcchesers · 13/11/2007 12:40

Twighlight - Where are you in the states? Def get a new OB/GYN if you can. I miss my doctors in the US, but my GP here has been outstanding. So much that I don't really want to leave my neighborhood. Once all the dust has settled so to speak, it's good to go and have a pelvic exam to endure that cervix is nice and closed and ovaries are all healthy. I'm sure you are fine..it's a lot for your body/mind to go through.

July 31 found out about about the mc. I had the chem D&C in hospital 21 Aug and bleeding finally stopped on Sept 1st. Had first AF (very rough)on Oct 3rd. Every woman is different.

LoveAngelGabriel · 13/11/2007 13:32

Twilight - it's amazing how brusque and matter-of-fact some doctors are about m/c. Just because you're not balling your eyes out and thrashing around in pain doesn't mean you don't need a bit of support, advice, aftercare etc. The hospital I was at could hardly be bothered to give me my results after my HCG blood tests (to tell me that I actually had had a m/c, and it wasn't an ectopic or some other awful thing...) They told me over the phone after me chasing the department up over 2 days... and that was it. I was advised to call my GP if I had any questions or wanted to be seen. My GP told the receptionist to tell me it was 'unnecessary'. Ok, I wasn't ill exactly, but it would have been nice to have someone to answer the sort of questions you've raised, about how long to wait before ttc again etc.

Also, yes, I stoll have an achy right ovary and don't feel ready to 'do it' again (!) yet...but soon!

ClairePO - sorry you got a BFN...but al is not lost for this month...test again in a couple of days if AF hasn't come. Good luck xx

mchesers - that's grteat news about your BFP! Very encouraging for the rest of us

TwilightSurfer · 13/11/2007 13:57

McChesers I'm in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Choo-Choo city . It's really a lovely place with gorgeous mountains and a beautiful river.

What the H$%% is wrong with these doctors?? Isn't "patient care" part of their schooling?? LAG sorry you had to deal with the same crappy kind of folk.

I do feel it's important to get my lower level checked again in a few weeks. Right now if my left ovary were a tooth I'd go have it extracted . It's always been a problem for me. Maybe a more thorough doctor might have paid attention when I complained about it in the past .

Claire my BFP's (all two of them) didn't show until CD30. You may still get that BFP.

OracleInaCoracle · 13/11/2007 14:00

i know. im constantly underwhelmed by the quality of care we recieve

goingfor3 · 13/11/2007 14:02

Hello ladies, is there any news from ILTS?

OracleInaCoracle · 13/11/2007 14:03

not heard from her.

grinningbee · 13/11/2007 14:05

ClairePO Sorry about your BFN. You never know though! DH spoke to my tummy the other day as he thinks there is someone in, lol. If AF doesn't turn up here soon I shall have to give in and test again.

I'll join you in the cake testing. I'm all out of cake and chocolate here (boo!). Mind you, the W.I market is on again on Thursday so I shall be stocking up. Ever tried tiffin? It is out of this world [dribble emoticon]

sweetkitty · 13/11/2007 14:42

hi lovely ladies

lissie - I am still keeping everything and anything crossed for you, you are doing amazing to resist testing (I have O willpower when it comes to not testing) in fact I haven't peed on anything for about a week now and feeling the urge again.

TS - glad you found us and sorry you had to, I think the testing every week is a good idea, once you get a BFN then start TTC again.

ClairePO - sorry about the BFN

I'm feeling fine a bit queasy when I brush my teeth and I have actually been sick once, boobs feel tender and my stomach looks very bloated (but could that be the cake), 6 weeks tomorrow which means 2 weeks to the scan argh it's dragging in.

OracleInaCoracle · 13/11/2007 14:46

i have a mini confession, wasnt going to say anything yet but i tested yesterday... and bfp. but it is vv early days (only 4w) and i have seen gp who was good, will have a scan in 2w (if it can hold on) but got a bit of backache now...

mcchesers · 13/11/2007 15:04

lissieeeeee- oh my goodness congrats!
Hang in there I'm waiting two weeks too and just found some strange brown goo so of course am losing my mind. We'll keep each other afloat ok?

grinningbee · 13/11/2007 15:10

Congratulations Lissie!!

Thinking very positive and sticky baby thoughts to you.
