Hi, does anyone want to come and keep me company? Currently ttc#3 and I don’t know how many dpo I am as my cycles have been a bit unpredictable for the last year but I’d say between 8 and 12 dpo at a guess. I had a chemical in September and a miscarriage at about 6 weeks in early November. This month has been the first month we started trying again and I wasn’t going to test early but after feeling knackered and iffy all weekend I did an impulsive test last night before bed and got the faintest squinter ever. This morning I tested again and got a faint but definitely there positive that my phone camera managed to pick up 😬.

I don’t even want to tell DP yet as the last 2 BFPs didn’t stick. I don’t know what do do with myself today in between homeschooling and the kids have picked today to be really motivated and not needing much help from me.

Midwifes appointment was brill. Got to hear his little heart beat and hear him swishing about. My midwife and the newly qualified midwife who was in with her were both lovely and I have the blood pressure of a normal human being for a change, it’s usually quite low. Now to run around like a crazy lady getting last minute bits ready for DDs birthday tomorrow 😬

@Secretsquirrelisfedup I'm glad your appointment went well and you got to hear his heart beat 💗

I wasn't lucky enough for that I don't know if she had lots of my questions to answer and forgot or what really happened there lol but we got to see the heart beating the following day at the private scan.

I'm also not sure if I've felt her or not I think it was now that has happened a couple of times they did say I might take longer to feel anything with my placenta being at the front

X

Lisyloo725 · 17/05/2021 22:34

All these placentas are the front...I’ve been thinking mine must be - either that or with having had two abdominal surgeries I’ve lost feeling???
I have no idea where my placenta is!
20 week scan soon. I’ll ask! X

Hoplop · 18/05/2021 16:09

@Lisyloo725 my placenta is at the back and I’m still holding out for feeling any movements. I had an anterior placenta last time and felt flutters around 18 weeks so I’m losing patience a bit haha!

Lisyloo725 · 18/05/2021 16:35

I have no idea where my placenta is @Hoplop - I must ask...I don’t feel that much going on.
The movement I saw in the bathtub a week ago was it really. Apart from the odd big kick. And I mean odd. Prob been like three in a week.
Sure it’s fine and that the next few weeks will see us harking back to those times our babes were not wriggly monkeys!!

Leonberger · 21/05/2021 10:01

Glad everyone is okay!

Mines been wiggling a fair bit, mainly at night when I’m trying to sleep though Grin

Secretsquirrelisfedup · 21/05/2021 11:50

Morning @Leonberger 😁

Still waiting to feel anything!

I’ve had such a full on week at work that as soon as I did the nursery run this evening, I just sat in the car and cried in the carpark! Partly hormones, partly a stressful week with a never ending to do list and partly because I just need a decent sleep...

Secretsquirrelisfedup · 21/05/2021 17:44

Sorry you’re feeling so stressed @Hoplop. Maybe all the stress is distracting you from feeling anything. It is so faint at this point that it’s easily missed if you’ve got other stuff going on and you’re always on the go. I hope you manage to get some rest and feel a bit more like yourself again soon xx

Lisyloo725 · 22/05/2021 23:27

Hey @Hoplop sending a big hug. Sleep sounds like it might help a bit - claim that lie in if you can and indulge in a bit of self care this weekend - whatever you need.
I hope work is calmer next week x x

Hoplop · 23/05/2021 08:37

Feeling better after a day off yesterday! Trying to enjoy today before it’s back to the craziness tomorrow!

Mad to think how much I missed this whilst on maternity last time 😂

daisyorange2 · 26/05/2021 20:14

Hi everyone! How are you all doing? Got my 20 week scan tomorrow and excited to see him again! Also a bit nervous, but I think anything serious would have been caught at my private 16 week scan! Just wondered, what are all your thoughts on NCT? I am swaying towards not doing it, as I’ve heard it can be a waste of time. I am surrounded by newborns and have lots of babies in the family, I’m not sure what I could get from NCT? My 2 best friends are also new mums and will cross over maternity with me. And I have a couple of preggo friends too who live nearby! Would love all your thoughts on it!

Xx

Secretsquirrelisfedup · 26/05/2021 20:54

Hi @daisyorange2 my 20 week scan is tomorrow too. I’m not as nervous this time as he has been wriggling away today, especially when we were listening to Queen earlier and I’m feeling so much better than I have for ages thanks to being able to sleep again Grin.

NCT wise I think the biggest benefit is the social aspect to meet other new mums and babies from what my friends have told me. I didn’t do it with my first two as there were other activities like baby massage, baby yoga and a breastfeeding group that were a lot cheaper/free and were fun and useful. I think I’ll probably do the same this time round. X

@Secretsquirrelisfedup I’m pretty sure we were in sync for the dating scan back in April?! My 20 week is also tomorrow! I’ll be 20+4 I think.

@daisyorange2 we did nct last time around (4 years) and are still in touch with one family. It was good but we also found baby classes/swimming classes were almost just as useful!

Secretsquirrelisfedup · 27/05/2021 07:28

Happy scan day @Hoplop. We did have the same scan day in April I think. We are properly in sync Grin. I’m 20+4 today too.

Leonberger · 27/05/2021 08:39

Hope your scans go well!

I’m 20weeks today. Scan is next Wednesday, can’t wait!

Has anyone got any names in mind yet? I’m struggling!

Secretsquirrelisfedup · 27/05/2021 09:21

Thanks @Leonberger. We have a list of names that we both like and a definite middle name (unless I get my own way and DP agrees that it’s a good first name... there is always hope 🤞). We’ve decided not to decide for sure till the baby is born but I think we do have a particular one in mind.

What kind of names do you like?

OP posts:
Leonberger · 27/05/2021 09:25

@Secretsquirrelisfedup your further forward than us Grin

Our DS has a traditional name so nothing too out there but I don’t want something everyone is using either! I quite like some of the old lady names but DH does not!
We can’t agree on a single thing Grin

daisyorange2 · 27/05/2021 09:50

Thanks for the advise!! I think we probably won’t do NCT but will deffo do the other baby groups. I’m very lucky that my group of closest friends all have newborns!

@Leonberger I’m 20 weeks today too!

@Secretsquirrelisfedup also waiting to see him before we decide on the name! Couple in mind. I like short boy names like Finn or Miles, but we’re finding it hard to agree!! How about you?

Secretsquirrelisfedup · 27/05/2021 09:57

@daisyorange2 I love Arthur and DP does too but he thinks it’s too old fashioned for a first name. The one in top position at the moment is Toby.

@Leonberger sounds like you have similar taste to me. What kind of names does your husband like?

OP posts:
Leonberger · 27/05/2021 10:04

@daisyorange2 we didn’t do any of the groups the first time and probably won’t this time either! I didn’t attend anything until DS was a toddler and could play himself Blush

@Secretsquirrelisfedup he likes Elizabeth and similar names but I don’t like Liz/Beth. I prefer shorter names like Ada/Eva but they seem very common where we are and he does not want something too common.

I found boys names much easier! Love Toby!

daisyorange2 · 27/05/2021 20:19

I love Arthur!! All lovely names.

How did the scans go? Ours was great, all perfect and got some lovely photos too 🥰

Hoplop · 27/05/2021 20:43

@daisyorange2 all good here too! Photos not so good due to upside down and spine at the front 😂 no idea what it’s what

Secretsquirrelisfedup · 27/05/2021 21:01

Glad your scans went well. Mine went brilliantly checks wise, everything seems to be going really well and he looks perfect. However, he was totally misbehaving and we didn’t get a photo as they couldn’t get a good one. The lady doing the scan was absolutely lovely though and explained every measurement and had a good laugh at how tricky it was to get him to cooperate.

Lovely to read of all the great scan news!! Perfect cooking ladies!!!!!!
I too had my 20 w scan - on Friday - I was 20w exactly- and all looking textbook. We had a scanning lady who was training another so we got a bit longer I think and loads of description which I loved!!
Also got to SEE little mans ‘boy bits’ which is helping me comprehend the gender 😂
I’ve started to sort all the baby clothes and put all the pink in a pile for charity which is a bit hard but ok. I realised I actually have some super cute boys clothes too!!! (I have DS1 and DD2 already).

We are not doing well with name choices!!! I too need to meet the little chap!!!! X x
