Hi, does anyone want to come and keep me company? Currently ttc#3 and I don’t know how many dpo I am as my cycles have been a bit unpredictable for the last year but I’d say between 8 and 12 dpo at a guess. I had a chemical in September and a miscarriage at about 6 weeks in early November. This month has been the first month we started trying again and I wasn’t going to test early but after feeling knackered and iffy all weekend I did an impulsive test last night before bed and got the faintest squinter ever. This morning I tested again and got a faint but definitely there positive that my phone camera managed to pick up 😬.

I don’t even want to tell DP yet as the last 2 BFPs didn’t stick. I don’t know what do do with myself today in between homeschooling and the kids have picked today to be really motivated and not needing much help from me.

How is everyone?

16 week appointment in a few days! Starting to feel a bit more real now. Insomnia is driving me crazy! I didn’t have it last time around but this time I’m waking 4-6 times a night and struggling to get back off.

Hi @Hoplop, I was struggling with insomnia too but it’s getting better the last few days I’m not sure what changed though. My 16 week appointment isn’t till I’m 18 weeks because the midwife miscounted when she was booking it then it got put back another week due to bank holiday. I am definitely starting to feel pregnant rather than just sick and bloated though and I’m so excited to start feeling movements soon.

Yes I have my appt this Wednesday- really looking forward to being able to feel babe!!!
I’m doing better this week on sleep!! I woke for a wee every night then struggled to go back off. I’ve been using This Works Sleep Spray - and despite a very full bladder by 7am I’m sleeping through!!!!!
Still knackered tho hahhahaha

Hi everyone!
I’ve just had my 16 week appointment. It was all of 2 minutes over the phone

I’m going to have to hunt for some sleep spray! I’m so tired all day but up all night.

Not felt any movements yet. I’m quite sore and crampy still though. Don’t actually feel much different to normal except still having nausea!

Has anyone decided to go for an early gender scan? Any bumps yet?

Hi @Leonberger what did they talk about in your 2 minutes? My trust are having them face to face as they listen to the heartbeat, check urine and measure fundal height I think. Mines not till 18 weeks though because the midwife is only in on Mondays and she miss counted then it got put back another week due to the bank holiday. My bump appeared properly all of a sudden last week and now I feel massive. I have also felt a few flutters the last few days but nothing consistent yet. Early gender scan is booked for next Tuesday because I’m driving myself mad, finding out the gender is just a bonus. Are you having a private gender scan?

16 week appointment here was face to face yesterday. Heartbeat was heard which was super reassuring. Definitely showing now too so everyone at work has guessed!

@Secretsquirrelisfedup like you, I booked a gender scan as more reassurance until the next one. DH is desperate to find out so that’s his bonus haha! Ours is Sunday morning!

@Secretsquirrelisfedup she literally asked me if I was okay, I said yes and that was that! She told me my screening results which I already had and then said great see you at 24weeks Totally pointless!

I’ve not booked a gender scan yet but I think I will, mainly just to see it again as we won’t get our 20 week scan until June and it seems so far away
Not sure whether to wait a bit longer than 16 weeks though to make it a bit more accurate?
I haven’t felt any movement and don’t have much of a bump so I just want to know everything’s still okay I remember this got a lot easier with DS once he was kicking and I was huge!

@Leonberger that is just pants, it makes no sense, especially as most people are programmed to answer yes fine if someone asks on the spot if you’re okay whether they are or not. It’s also really bizarre how much it varies from trust to trust in the same country.

I booked mine so I’ll be just over 17 weeks according to the dates based on my 12 week scan just in case because I’m 99% sure I’m just measuring big and I’m not sure size = development of necessary bits and bobs. If you think your dates are pretty accurate I think 16 weeks should be fine.

It definitely gets easier when you’re massive and being beaten up from the inside 😂😂😂.

@Hoplop glad you got to hear the heartbeat. It’s such a big help getting through the limbo isn’t it.

I have my 16week appointment next week and also a private gender scan at the end of next week.

I don't think I have a bump I think I just look like I've eaten too many cakes 🤣

Your bump will just pop one day when you’re not expecting it @Lilbambinoplz. I know mine did last week and till then I just looked a bit chubby and bloated. Since it popped my face is less puffy too which is a bonus

I’ve had a tiny bit of brown spotting today- panicking but not sure if I’m making a mountain out of a molehill!!

Hey @Leonberger...did you have a haemotoma early on??
I did, and it went after a bit of a ‘bleed’ - but luckily it happened the day before I had one of my many early scans booked.
Could it be that little bubble of blood exiting so to speak?
Sure all is ok - most likely that or adjustments as things grow x x

I’ve not had any bleeding of any sort until now. I wouldn’t even say it’s bleeding, more spots of old blood. Should I ring the epu about it tomorrow
I’ve still not felt anything which isn’t helping!

Hi @Leonberger I would ring the EPU just to be on the safe side, that’s the advice the midwives here give too. They would rather check and it be nothing than not and it potentially be something. It’s likely to be fine though if it’s light and only old blood. Xx

16 wk face to face midwife tomorrow. Private scan thoroughly checked all organs and everything was lovely.

Morning @daisyorange2 I was wondering how you were. Lovely news about your boy. My gender and wellbeing scan is tomorrow and time has decided to stand still today 😖.

@Secretsquirrelisfedup I’m not sure why it just decides as and when to send me notifications! Ah I know the feeling, I was in a bad way before the scan, full of nerves and anxiety but soon as it began a huge weight was lifted. Now for the first time I believe it’s happening! I bet it will all be wonderful and you’ll feel on top of the world afterward ♥️

Does anyone have any advice for a first time mum to a little boy? I’m so excited and also don’t know what to expect! 🥰 everyone tells me boys are so loving to their mums so I look forward to the snuggles. Xx

@daisyorange2 my eldest is a boy too and he is indeed snuggly. So is my daughter though and they are best friends with a lot of similar interests despite definitely having unique personalities. My best advice is don’t be fooled into thinking there’s only one right way of doing anything. If one way doesn’t work for you it isn’t the right way for you, if you’re out of ideas don’t be afraid to ask someone for ideas and try advice that sounds good to you but also shelf any that doesn’t.
