If it is reassuring, the drug gets out of your system very quickly but it is the effect on the folate stores which is the problem - and why it is warned that women don’t try again for three months, to allow time to build those up.

Good luck for tomorrow - I hope the outcome is as good as it can be. It’s a really awful time, but I think once you have some certainty over the process, it might be a bit easier in the context.

I'm 4 days past my transfer and gave in to the testing. 🤞🏻

weathervane123 · 23/05/2021 13:40

@NigellasMicrowave Thanks, that's really good to know. I'll still be pissed to have to take methotrexate, especially because it strips folic acid. Been gobbling pregnacare supplements since bloody January to build up my stores, so that will have a been a waste of time and money. Angry It's just like adding insult to injury!

@coffeewithmilk congrats and good luck!!

NigellasMicrowave · 23/05/2021 15:57

Oh crikey @coffeewithmilk! Fingers being kept firmly crossed!

@coffeewithmilk oh my gosh this is uber exciting ..... hoping to see some progression in the next few days keeping everything crossed for you 🌈🙏🏼❤️x

Luan82 · 23/05/2021 22:27

@weathervane123 - so sorry you find yourself here, I was in a similar situation to you, had just started trying and seven months in suffered the ectopic - expectation management just wasn't on the cards for me as the numbers kept rising and like you I was conscious of my age, (at that point I had no idea that my amh was also a huge issue - probably for the best!!😬) though having medication isn't ideal you can buy ultra absorbent folate and the doc can test your levels for piece of mind if that helps, make sure you take some time to heal after the trauma too despite feeling pressure due to your age xx

KJW00 · 24/05/2021 14:19

Hi all

Congrats on the positive pregnancy tests and I hope all goes well and smoothly!

For all those still TTC I send all the baby dust in the world Star

I posted my story in here about 3 weeks ago about my ectopic pregnancy and the removal of my right tube and how this month was the first month TTC since. Anyway I am so down today. I kept feeling a little sick at times and my boobs felt heavier (PMS symptoms or pregnancy I know) but I bought some cheapie tests from Tesco for an emergency. I was getting right sided pain past few days so I caved and took one yesterday afternoon. Looking at the test in the time frame the faintest line ever appeared and I freaked out but was deep down excited. So worrying all night I took another one this morning which was the exactly the same faint positive. After reading the test reviews online they were all so bad and
how they have endless amount of women faint positives so now I’m so disheartened Sad

I HATE this so so much Sad

weathervane123 · 24/05/2021 15:01

@DoctorBambino congratulations, those look like beautiful lines! :-)

weathervane123 · 24/05/2021 15:10

@Luan82 thanks so much for sharing. I'm so sorry you've been through it too. It's so bloody rotten! Thankfully my bloods today revealed my levels have plummeted from 980 on Thursday night to 106 this morning. So we're continuing with expectant management and I'm going in next Monday for more bloods. I have everything crossed that the downward trajectory will continue, and nothing sinister will happen in the meanwhile.

This just so happened to ruin a trip (trip to A&E the night before we were due to travel) so I have a week's worth of annual leave already planned and nothing at all to do. Now I'm wondering if I should try to turn it into sick leave, which obviously means letting my job know I'm ttc, or just suck it up...?

weathervane123 · 24/05/2021 15:19

@KJW00 I'm sorry for your loss. It must be horribly anxiety-inducing trying again, particularly when you feel you can't rely on a test to be accurate. Will your EPU do bloods for you? I hope you can be reassured asap. Good luck to you!

Luan82 · 24/05/2021 15:41

@DoctorBambino OMG!!!! How very exciting!!! Wishing you all the best for the next nine months!!! 🌈❤️x

Luan82 · 24/05/2021 15:46

@KJW00 oh bless you, I had a similar experience last month at 7dpo a very faint positive (defo not an evap) took a sensitive test the next day and nothing, I suspect that the egg tried to implant and sent a surge of hormone but didn't quite make it essentially a chemical - my period was also early and heavier and more painful that usual - how many dpo are you? Having pains at the side is very common for us ectopic sufferers usually from scar tissue where the tube contracts to push the embryo along - the TWW is evil imho - i'm 8dpo and I have slight cramps now- I had a cramp at my side when driving home too!! I would try not to worry and test again in two days xx

Luan82 · 24/05/2021 15:50

@weathervane123 that's excellent news, I think it's extremely rare for the numbers to go back up so fingers crossed for you - re : the work issue that's a tricky one, I told work as I knew that I'd have to keep Making trips to hospital and my boss is female - which helps!! I also knew there was a strong chance that I'd be embarking on IVF too so I thought it best, they've been very good but everyone's experiences are different! Maybe worth discussing it with your OH see what he thinks? I did that before I told my boss xx

KJW00 · 24/05/2021 16:26

@Luan82 thanks for you reply. Ah did it? Maybe that does explain your situation with a surge of hormones. I am currently 12po but I’m putting the tests down to a false positive after all the reviews I can’t believe they can sell them.

Ah ok I do always get right sided pain and it can come on randomly and is heightened during my period and ovulation.

I’m just quite concerned I only ovulate from the right side or at leasts it’s the more dominant ovary. I can’t quite cope doing this every month. It’s so draining and stressful not knowing what the future holds Sad

HereIfYouNeedMe · 24/05/2021 17:01

@MrsB2019x

Keeping everything crossed for you *@coffeewithmilk*! You deserve this so much xx
I second this!! Congratulations!! Xx

Oh wow!!!! Such exciting news! Congratulations!!!..
Luan82 · 24/05/2021 17:36

@KJW00 I have read somewhere that one ovary is usually dominant - think it can often be the right ovary too, however many many women have conceived when they ovulated from the side without a tube - the left can pick it up!! Our bodies can do amazing things x

MrsB2019x · 24/05/2021 17:36

No denying those lines @DoctorBambino! Congratulations! 🌈 xxx

NigellasMicrowave · 24/05/2021 17:43

That’s really good news @weathervane123. It is bittersweet when the numbers go down, but the sooner it ends, the better. I would tell your work if you can - you deserve the time off as pregnancy related sick leave. I told mine, and whilst it was a bit awkward, it did mean that the time I had off was not annual leave. This was a godsend (it certainly didn’t feel like annual leave) later on when I actually needed proper annual leave! They don’t need to know you are TTC, simply that you’ve suffered an ectopic pregnancy. Many women do, who aren’t trying to conceive. You deserve to take the time you need.

Lililou · 24/05/2021 19:32

@weathervane123 That's good advice from @NigellasMicrowave, no need for them to know you're ttc, an ectopic or any kind of baby loss is rough. You don't need to have surgery to take sick leave, the drs should be able to provide you with a note.

Congratulations @DoctorBambino, that's great news! Wishing you a happy healthy pregnancy.

@KJW00 We're in our TWW on month 3 TTC after ectopic. I found the first month ttc again difficult and disappointing when it didn't happen, it's got a little easier to deal with since then. You've got plenty of support o here whatever happens.

Had one of those days though with pregnancy announcements and scan pics galore with people I know, I can't seem to get away from it. Someone in work also asking someone else to show them their bump on zoom. 🙄

Kate105 · 24/05/2021 19:44

Congratulations @coffeewithmilk and @DoctorBambino how exciting!

All well here, 22 weeks tomorrow and (touch wood) all going to plan this time round.

Hi to all the newbies, sorry you're here but you're in the best place! These gals have your back.

Sorry I've been quiet but I'm not sure how triggering my news is really so just keeping up in the background. But I do keep up with you and I'm rooting for you all xxx
