Just wondered if anyone else with long cycles has tried these? My cycles can range anywhere from 33-45 days and I've read a lot of positive things about these helping shorten cycles. I've just ordered some to try next cycle if AF ever shows up 🙄

Here’s a thread on successful BFP’s from Soy

community.babycentre.co.uk/post/a12154345/bfps_with_soy_isoflavones.

It was recommended to me by someone on the long cycles thread of this forum. She was given clomid but decided to try Soy instead and it worked for her.

I was also on another thread where three people got there BFP‘s using soy. One was the first cycle the others took a bit longer I think.

I tried soy for one cycle and it didn’t work for me and then couldn’t find any near me so I didn’t use it after that cycle.

Hope it works for you 😁

NamechangeTTC · 08/01/2021 15:15

I did. Conceived cycle 3. I think it made me ovulate later.

Chanel05 · 08/01/2021 15:19

I used them, though it did make me ovulate quite a bit later. I conceived on the second try of using them but had a mmc.

Littlepoppet1 · 08/01/2021 15:58

Thanks all! Interesting it made you ovulate later as I was hoping for the opposite! My cycles are all over the place at the mo!

Moominmiss · 08/01/2021 17:49

@Littlepoppet1 yes I use them!

I’ve actually used them on and off for about 6 months.

When I don’t take them I ovulated on cd22 and then my cycle ends up being 35 days long.

When I do take them it brings my ovulation earlier quite significantly.

I have in the past taken them on cd3-7, which supposedly may bring ovulation forward slightly, while also ensuring the eggs are mature enough. Taking it on these days I’ve brought ovulation forward to cd14, 15, and 16.

This current cycle I took them on days 2-6. I ovulated on cd14, so with my 13 day luteal phase my cycle will be 27 days long!

I’ve had a couple of bfp’s on cycles where I’ve taken soy, but unfortunately mc - had 4 mc in total and not all while taking soy so in no way think it’s related.

So from my own personal experience, in shortening my cycle length it’s worked great!

Littlepoppet1 · 08/01/2021 18:23

Thanks for that @Moominmiss can I ask how many you take? The ones I've ordered are 100mg. Sorry to hear about your MC's Flowers

I think I'll give them a go and see what happens!

@NamechangeTTC hey! I haven’t spoken to you in ages. Hope you’re well! Happy to see your pregnant! Congratulations when are you due

Kay00 · 08/01/2021 20:35

@littlepoppet1

I have ordered some too and will be trying for the first time on my next cycle. I am currently on CD25 and waiting for ovulation 😴 this is my 6th cycle and 7th month trying.

My cycles range from 32 to 47 days long, im also 35+ and my feel weak ovulation is probably my problem; I have several ovulation attempts before my body finally succeeds every cycle and low pre and post ovulation temps.

I'm hoping bring ovulation forward and strengthen my little eggs!!

chubbycheese · 08/01/2021 21:15

@Littlepoppet1 I've taken them this month, its my first try with them. My cycles are 33-38 days and seem to be getting longer so thought it was worth a try. 100mg is too high a dose, you need a low dose so you can gradually increase. I bought 40mg tablets and took them like this...

cd2 - 80mg
cd3 - 120mg
cd4 - 120mg
cd5 - 160mg
cd6 - 160mg

Here is the thread I found really helpful -
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2206677-soy-isoflavones-yes-or-no

Moominmiss · 08/01/2021 22:09

@Littlepoppet1 I take Tesco own brand ones

This cycle I took

Cd2 - 160mg
Cd3 - 160mg
Cd4 - 160mg
Cd5 - 200mg
Cd6 - 200mg

The Tesco ones are 40mg tablets so I take 4 to get 160mg then 5 tablets to boost it to 200mg for the last 2 days.

You’re never supposed to exceed 200mg

Kay00 · 08/01/2021 23:29

@moominmiss mine come in 50mg tablets so I was thinking of taking:

100mg
100mg
150mg
150mg
200mg

Either days 2 to 6 or 3 to 7.

I suppose it will be important to define when the cycle begins, do you count from first day of spotting or first day of heavy flow?

Thanks.

Littlepoppet1 · 09/01/2021 06:14

Thanks for the thread link @chubbycheese that's really helpful.

Ive just realised the ones I've ordered are 50mg not 100 so think I'll do same as you @kay00 I always count first day as the first day of full flow as I always spot 2-3 days before.

heybabes · 11/01/2021 12:03

I’ve ordered some of these as I have long cycles (33 days has been my shortest in the past two years, they have been around 45).

Mine are arriving tomorrow which will be CD5. I’ve heard you can take them CD5-9 at the latest but is this true? Don’t want to risk anything so maybe should wait until next month?

chubbycheese · 11/01/2021 14:24

@heybabes I believe you can do that yes, although the earlier you take them in the cycle the earlier your ovulation should be.

I've read conflicting advice, some say they work right away others say they take 3/4 months to take affect. I will say though that they seem to have brought my ovulation forward considerably, its cd14 and I'm getting pains and stronger opks. Last month I didn't ovulated til cd26! So I would perhaps crack on with them if you are impatient like me!

Littlepoppet1 · 11/01/2021 20:18

Yeah @heybabes I have also read it's better to start earlier in cycle but you might just be ok starting on day 5. I'm planning on taking days 2-6. Mine should be delivered on Weds then just got to wait for AF to make a appearance whenever that might be! CD35 today and no sign yet. Last month's was 52 days! Really hope the soy helps shorten them.

Toastedsesame · 11/01/2021 20:35

Good luck to you @Littlepoppet1 I did 2-6 this month and seems to have started to do the trick already.

Kay00 · 11/01/2021 21:13

@littlepoppet1 mine arrived on Weds too. Hopefully you get your AF soon 🤞

Im on CD28 and still waiting on ovulation 😴😴😴 hoping it happens soon! I just want my next cycle to start so I can try the Soy 😆

@chubbycheese @toastedsesame exciting that its already starting to make a difference for you!!

ls0127 · 11/01/2021 21:32

I went off birth control in July and have been TTC ever since. First few cycles I was around 34 days but my last was over 50 so I took soy this cycle. Days 2-6. 80mg, 80, 80, 160, 160. Fingers crossed I can get it to kick start something :D

heybabes · 15/01/2021 20:27

Hey guys how’s it all going? So I’ve decided to take CD5-9, 80, 80, 80, 120, 160. I’m on CD8 today so upping the dose tonight!

No awful side effects yet, I’ve found myself a bit nauseated the following morning but ok so far.

How long after have you been doing ovulation tests? I ovulated last cycle on CD20/21 so not sure when I should begin testing if these potentially shorten your cycle!

I took on CD2-6. I've been doing ovulation tests from the week AF went away but haven't had a clear positive yet. Currently on CD33. I've been doing the tests for my past few cycles with not much luck though so it could just be me 😆 going to try temping next cycle before taking a break from tracking.
Littlepoppet1 · 15/01/2021 22:04

I'm still waiting for AF to show, CD39 today! I have had cramping and spotting today though so looks like nearly here! Planning on taking day 2-6 so hopefully can get started soon.
@heybabes I usually start testing as soon as I notice EWCM but if you don't track that or don't get much I'd maybe start from day 8 or 9 just to make sure you don't miss it!

Kay00 · 16/01/2021 08:15

@littlepoppet1 hope you get your AF soon (or you get pregnant of course)!

Im on CD33 and still no sign of ovulation 😩 I just want this cycle to be over so I can start my Soy!

Littlepoppet1 · 16/01/2021 08:48

Thanks @Kay00 I'm pretty sure AF on the way now as I always spot a few days before so fingers crossed I can get started soon!
It's so frustrating having long cycles isn't it, everything seems to take forever! Fingers crossed things get moving for you soon!

Toastedsesame · 16/01/2021 14:01

Hey just wanted to report back that I ovulated yesterday on cd18, so the soy has worked well for me! Last month was cd26 so this cycle looking much more reasonable.
