Just wondered if anyone else with long cycles has tried these? My cycles can range anywhere from 33-45 days and I've read a lot of positive things about these helping shorten cycles. I've just ordered some to try next cycle if AF ever shows up 🙄

How is everyone getting on?

Riverskye · 05/02/2021 02:33

@Kay00 currently on CD54 and no positive opks. Did have some spotting a couple of days ago so I think AF must be around the corner. If AF does come I'm going to take a bigger dose on days 2-6 again and fingers crossed it works second time!

Littlepoppet1 · 05/02/2021 06:20

@Kay00 I'm either CD8 or 9 today and desperately trying not to symptom spot! I'm leaving it until at least Monday to test which will be either CD11 or 12. I am attempting to potty train my DD this weekend so that should keep me distracted 😂

@riverskye hopefully AF is just round the corner for you then you can get going again! What dosage are you going to try this time?

OP posts:
Kay00 · 05/02/2021 08:30

@Riverskye I know that feeling, it's so frustrating when you don't ovulate!! Hopefully you either get a surprise ovulation or AF starts soon... so you can try again x

@Littlepoppet1 how exciting!! Please keep us updated! And good luck with the potty training Grin

I'm on CD15, not a lot happening here. I think that my CM has perhaps become a little more watery, but my OPKs yesterday registered as zero and my temps are pretty steady. I really hope these Soy Iso help me ovulate soon!

heybabes · 05/02/2021 09:58

I still don’t know if I ovulated or not and feeling guilty that I messed with my body and tried out SI if that makes sense? I’m only on cycle 2 of trying and feel like I should have just waited before as I’m worried I’ve now messed my hormones up.

I had crosshairs for CD21 initially as that was my darkest OPK, but my temps haven’t been that high since and today FF removed the crosshairs.

If I take the OPK results out, I have a clear temperature shift on CD16 which would now make me 13DPO.

Thing is I’m still getting near positive OPKs 😫 and have no post-O symptoms except light cramping - usually I have really tender boobs.

I took a HPT test this morning and it was negative so kind of hoping I ovulated earlier rather than not at all, and I can just start again tbh!

@Littlepoppet1 I think I'm going to take 160, 160, 160, 200, 200 on my next cycle. I was a little worried how I'd react to it so took a half dose for the first 3 days this cycle.

Kay00 · 06/02/2021 21:20

@heybabes I think you have a clear temperature shift from CD16 onwards but it's odd that you had a +opk on CD20 if you did indeed Ov on CD16. Its possible you haven't ovulated yet and that your body is making several attempts (CD16, CD20 ... and again now if you are still getting strong OPKs)?

Alternatively you could be getting near +opks because you're pregnant. You tested with a cheapy... worth trying a FRER?

Littlepoppet1 · 07/02/2021 06:28

I've woken up with spotting today which I think is me out for this month. I always spot for about 3 days before AF starts. I'm CD23 today and either 10 or 11 DPO. Will see what happens over the next few days. Disappointing if I'm not pregnant but tbh ill be over the moon to have a normal length cycle so trying to see the positives either way.

OP posts:
Littlepoppet1 · 07/02/2021 06:29

Forgot to say I tested yesterday and was negative.

Kay00 · 09/02/2021 16:17

Hi ladies, how are you getting on? Did AF show @Littlepoppet1 ?

@heybabes is your ovulation any clearer?

I'm CD19 and no ovulation yet Sad I just have this feeling its not going to happen for me (again), even with the Soy Iso.

Littlepoppet1 · 11/02/2021 06:00

@Kay00 AF has shown up this morning so onto a new cycle today. It's been 26 days which is the shortest cycle I've ever had so even though I'm disappointed not to be pregnant I'm over the moon to finally have a more normal length cycle! Will def keep taking it going forward.

Have you had any signs of OV yet? I wasn't convinced I had either as my OPK never went really strong positive but I obviously did when I thought I did now AF here.

OP posts:
heybabes · 12/02/2021 15:40

@Littlepoppet1 I'm sorry you didn't get your BFP this month but congrats on the 26 day cycle! I can't imagine having one that short so even though not the result you wanted, at least you don't have to wait so long to try again. Are you going to try SI again this cycle?

@Kay00 I did a FRER but it was negative too! I think my body was trying to ovulate and failing, it makes sense.

So I decided to stop doing OPKs as it was just stressing me out and I assumed that unfortunately I was having an anovulatory cycle. However I decided to keep doing temps as I'm more chilled about those, and it was like as soon as I relaxed my temp started to rise! I got a clear rise from CD32, rising each day and above all the temps before and more in the range of my temps last cycle! Yay!

So fingers crossed I did ovulate and I'm now 4DPO. I've started to get cramps and my boobs hurt a bit which makes sense as I wasn't getting any of those symptoms before! This also means this would end up being a 46 day cycle unfortunately which is a bit longer than I usually have (30-40) but could be worse. If I do SI again I'll probably do it earlier and not CD5-9 as that can delay ovulation as it has in my case...

Kay00 · 12/02/2021 18:25

@littlepoppet1 damn! So sorry AF arrived 😔 but its good you are pleased with your shorter cycle. Ard you going to do SI again? If so what days?

@heybabes im do glad you ovulated! Even if it was layer than expected. I have my fingers crossed this is your cycle! 🤞

Your cycle is also giving me hope... that I might ovulate yet. Im CD22 and no ovulation yet. I thought my body was trying around about a week ago, but everything has dried up... no im thinking the SI hasn't done what I hoped it would. Ah well!

Littlepoppet1 · 13/02/2021 08:26

Yes I'm taking them again this cycle. Doing same as last time seens as it worked well so days 2-6 100, 100, 150, 150, 200. Hopefully second time lucky!

@heybabes glad to see you have ovulated, even if it is later than you would like. If you don't get lucky this cycle then I think trying taking them earlier next time would be a good shout as I've heard taking later can delay things too.

@Kay00 I hope it happens soon for you! It's frustrating isn't it. On my previous long cycles my body always shows signs of trying like to say, it's like there's a bit of a build up then it just doesn't happen. Will you give the soy another go next cycle do you think if this isn't your month?

OP posts:
Riverskye · 13/02/2021 18:13

Currently on CD62, negative opk, negative pregnancy test and no sign of AF. The waiting is driving me mental Grin

Kay00 · 13/02/2021 18:32

@riverskye oh man... thats really frustrating, hope you're coping ok? Xx is that after SI or are you waiting to take them?

Riverskye · 13/02/2021 18:37

@Kay00 after taking them, I had a 60 day cycle right before this one too though so don't think SI is the reason it's long. Hopefully my body does something soon, whilst I'd love a BFP I'd take AF over nothing!

katewitch · 13/02/2021 20:06

Hi! New to the thread and glad you all seem to be having some success, hopefully you all get your BFPs soon Smile

Can I ask where you all got your SIs from?

I bought some on Amazon without thinking about dosages - assuming incorrectly that they'd all be similar amounts!

Mine say they are 5000mg which seems insanely high? Confused But on the back it suggests that they're 45mg!

Could any of you help me interpret this please? I'm keen to start using them as I have mild PCOS symptoms and long cycles and would like to bring ovulation forward and ensure it happens, but I seem to have bought the wrong ones and too much is bad, right?

Any help would be much appreciated please, I'm so confused!

@katewitch Welcome! Some Soy Iso supplements are aimed at post menopausal women who need really high doses... I think thats that you have?

I bought Natures Aid from Amazon: www.amazon.co.uk/Natures-Aid-Soya-Isoflavones-Genistein/dp/B000GY76L6?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

@riverskye I feel like I might be having an annovulatory cycle like I did last time... although I'm only on CD22, so it might happen yet (my cycles are usually very long). I hoped SI would help kick-start things, but maybe something else is at play. If I have another annovulatory cycle I may have a chat with my GP. If I ovulate then ill give SI a try again on my next cycle.

heybabes · 14/02/2021 08:23

@Kay00 don’t lose hope yet! I was sure I was having an anovulatory cycle and got in such a bad mood about it but it just happened much later for me - I’ve attached my current chart if it helps! I know it’s probably just a coincidence but as soon as I stopped doing OPKs and just stopped stressing, it seemed like then I ovulated...

@Riverskye sorry you’re having such a long cycle - I get the AF is better than nothing sentiment! I had a 70 day cycle this year and it’s rubbish.

@katewitch welcome! I got some like yours from Amazon and it said a similar thing, that the actual percentage of pure soy isoflavones was 40mg. See if there are any reviews on Amazon? Sometimes they have some info from others using them to TTC

@Littlepoppet1 🤞for you this cycle! Hopefully now you’ve got your O day brought forward, this could be the BFP month!

Also happy Valentine’s Day everyone! We won’t be doing much today as we have my 4 year old stepson this weekend, plus lockdown... I think my SO is expecting me to say I’m pregnant today as it’s past when I would usually get my period and I just stopped talking about TTC with him recently as we were getting down and I was obsessing about not ovulating. I haven’t even told him I have now ovulated. Oh well, hope he enjoys his Bristol Bears mug instead! 😂

Oh haha, I'm sure he'll be most pleased watching 6 Nations this afternoon then! Happy Valentines day ladies x

katewitch · 14/02/2021 09:22

Thanks all, I think after some digging that they must be actually 45mg, so will treat them as that going forward and see what happens Smile don't want to risk delaying ovulation as I always have long cycles so looks like I should be trying 2-6? I'm on CD14 at the moment which for a normal person would be perfect for Valentines TTC... ho hum!

Have a lovely Valentines day everyone Wink my DMum is bubbled with us as she lives alone and has taken my DS for a sleepover, I think she is hoping it will help her get another grandchild Grin

We don't start Officially Trying until April but are not using contraception right now and I'm trying to get my cycles sorted out... glad I'm not alone in that but hopefully all of us have success with the SIs sooner rather than later Flowers

heybabes · 17/02/2021 09:51

9 DPO and said I wouldn't test until I got any symptoms or just wait til AF, but I caved and tested. BFN. I know it's still relatively early but I had the "feeling" that this the month... obv not! Oh well. Like I said before I'm happy knowing I'm ovulating at least and only cycle 2 for me.

@katewitch that makes sense! Yeah I think you should do it on the earlier days personally. I did mine CD5-9 which is the latest you can take it and my ovulation was nearly 2 weeks later than my previous cycle. It's not unheard of my cycles to be that long so not 100% the soy, but it would make sense! I'm going to do CD2-6 next month too.

I also think it's great you're trying to regulate things before you start trying - I wish I'd done this. I used to think it was great that I had less periods than everyone else! Only 1 period in 3 months - sweet! Now I am like "why did I ever think that was a good thing!" and wish I had got it sorted sooner.

heybabes · 22/02/2021 09:18

How is everyone getting on?

AF unfortunately arrived for me today and I had a 45 day cycle, which was 10 days longer than my previous one! So... not doing soy CD5-9 again. I was very stressed this month so don't think it's entirely the soy, but I don't think it helped!

I'm going to start taking them again tomorrow (CD2-6) and up my dose this time. I only did 80,80,80,120,160 last cycle, so this cycle I will do 120,120,160,160,200.

Hope you're all good! :)

Littlepoppet1 · 22/02/2021 10:08

@heybabes sorry to hear AF arrived for you. Hopefully taking it earlier will make a difference this time!

CD11 today for me, I took them 2-6 again this cycle same dosage as last time so 2x100 2x150 and 1x200. I started OPKs yesterday, had a obvious 2nd line but not positive so hopefully see progression over the next few days!

Hope everyone else doing okay!
