Tracking your cycle and possible BFP using RHR - part 5

Hi ladies,

This is for all of us with heart rate monitors who wish to help each other analyse the RHR patterns throughout our cycles.

Early research shows there's a correlation with increasing RHR and BFPs - so let's try and spot some together!

@NJOBX what app do you use for BBT? Yes time is key with tracking BBT. Do you wake at the same time everyday? It’s a bit of a pain but it really does help as you can see it so clearly on the chart. There are temp adjusters online which you can use if you overslept. On the weekends I used to set an alarm but go back to sleep so it was roughly taken at the same sort of time each day. Ohh and I highly recommend temping vaginally. It’s the most accurate as sleeping with your mouth open etc can affect the temps. I was doing BBT for four months before my BFP. I had a couple of cycles just doing opks but was recommended bbt on here. It definitely correlates, where i had my drop for implantation I also had a drop in temp on my bbt chart!

CD22 definitely could be ovulation day for you then, especially with the CM. They say that the last day of fertile CM is ov day. So it all seems to tie in for you. So how many Dpo would you be now? Are your cycles regular?

Ahh I know, the waiting is so bloody frustrating!! I was such a POAS addict. It’s hard to wait!! The TWW is tortuous!

NJOBX · 28/04/2021 22:19

@mumof23188
I’ve been using Femometer, which do you use?

I do have an alarm set for the same time each day but I do wake up a lot in the night so not sure whether that would impact it? I’ve seen people say they do it when they first wake up even if it’s in the middle of the night but the times vary for me. I never thought to do it vaginally but if it’s more accurate then I might start doing it that way!
At first it wasn’t really correlating with my RHR but the last week or so it has!

I am certainly thinking more CD22 on Saturday that was my ovulation day now. Which means I would be 4DPO today, 5DPO tomorrow which also means more waiting! 😫

I had the Coil out last August so my cycles haven’t been very regular to be honest but I would say they’re around 32 days.

Hahaha, I know! I don’t know what it is about POAS that gives so much satisfaction, maybe it’s the adrenaline rush?

mumof23188 · 28/04/2021 23:36

@NJOBX fertility friend is the best! It’s really easy to read. It’s free but you have the option to pay for it and you can add your RHR in so you can see them on the chart together.

They say you need a solid four hours before you take your temp. I wouldn’t do it in the night. To be honest I had some nights where I had really broken sleep because my DS would wake a lot but it always worked for me. Yes me neither but again it was recommended on here and i thought it was a lot more accurate, I mean who wants to stick a bloody thermometer in their vagina but the things we have to do 🤣. It’s crazy how close it is, I will have a look back and see if I have a screenshot of them both together to show you.

Yes it certainly seems more than likely to be the 22nd. The longer to wait is very rubbish 😩 hopefully it doesn’t drag to much for you.

That’s good to know they’re roughly the same. Have you tracked ovulation any other way before?

Haha yes! Love to poas! Just a shame it costs so much 🤣😱

NJOBX · 29/04/2021 08:23

Oh, I may have to use that and input my readings in to that one instead then, thank you!

I used that bbt amender this morning as I woke up an hour earlier and it was exactly the same as when I took it after the hour anyway so that’s good.

Well yes, it’s not the most pleasant way of checking temps but if it works, it works haha!

My temp has risen quite a bit this morning but my RHR has gone down by 2 beats which makes me wonder if AF is on its way already Sad
I have attached my RHR chart for this morning, what do you think about it? I know Kona said hers went down before it started risen

I did try using OPKs last month but with my cycle being so up and down after the coil I thought it’s not the best method really.

Omg, doesn’t it just! They are so expensive, why do they have to be such an addiction!
I bought some cheapies last month so going to use those and if I see a BFP I will confirm with some FRERs I have (I am all stocked up Grin )

Sorry @mumof23188 I forgot to tag you in it! X

Kona84 · 29/04/2021 20:25

Mine went down for quite a few days, one symptom I remembered earlier was my CM didn’t decrease - normally I dry up leading to AF but I had why looked like fertile Cm but with more white sorry if tmi

NJOBX · 29/04/2021 20:46

Don’t worry about TMI @Kona84 it doesn’t phase me haha.

I have heard a lot of people say that about their CM before they get a BFP... mine has dried a bit these last 2 days though Sad
I think I’ve still had a little bit more than I usually would at this stage in my cycle but honestly it isn’t much at all and definitely isn’t fertile type CM but then I don’t really have much anyway so I don’t know whether that would be it for me.
I will update you tomorrow with my RHR but my BBT went up quite a bit this morning so I am staying hopeful (for now)! Stressing won’t help will it. I am trying to be patient because I am only 5DPO 🤞🏼

Kona84 · 29/04/2021 21:45

Yeah take it a day at a time.

I was pregnant last year too and had zero symptoms and didn’t realise until I noticed AF was 4 days late.
I think sometimes Some of the symptoms are exaggerated and things we wouldn’t even notice if we were not trying to get pregnant it really messes with your head

NJOBX · 29/04/2021 22:09

@Kona84

Oh did you not! It makes you think that AF is coming when you don’t get symptoms though doesn’t it. I haven’t ever had a BFP before so I wouldn’t even know how to tell with my own body so I’ve just been going off what other people have said!

It has definitely messed with my head in previous cycles, I think it gets to us all at some point doesn’t it and it is sooo easy to fall in to it. But I feel like I’ve been much more relaxed about it in this cycle and have tried my best not to symptom spot... other than checking my RHR chart haha x

LS2020 · 30/04/2021 06:17

@mumof23188 @Juno231 hi loves! All quiet on my front as like Juno I have my Hycosy next week and due to ovulate this weekend so having to skip this cycle. Using it as a chance to lose some weight though. Reckon it’s my last test and will take about 3 months to get a follow up appt so will use the time to lose about 10kg for whatever my next steps are. Hoping may help fertility wise as that’s the only “bad” thing my doctors have said, my BMI is 29 so want to get down to 25 range. I’m only a size 14 and 5ft 10 so don’t feel huge but 🤷‍♀️

@mumof23188 how’s your pregnancy going?

@NJOBX I don’t think I had property symptoms with my mmc until basically day of AF and don’t remember any CM difference and since that I’ve basically stopped symptom spotting because I expect AF will now arrive first for me!

NJOBX · 30/04/2021 08:23

I’m so sorry to hear about your mmc @LS2020 - sending hugs x

It’s interesting to hear people having different / no symptoms to others isn’t it! Like you said, I haven’t noticed anything really other than I’ve had cramps late last night and this morning but nothing different to expecting AF. I used to be so bad with symptom spotting but I think I’ve kind of knocked it out of myself now haha. You’re definitely right having that mindset because then you’re less likely to be disappointed if AF does arrive!

This is my chart for this morning... my BBT has dropped quite steeply and my RHR has plateaued... not long to go until AF is due 😅 x

AF is due on Monday and my RHR is through the roof. Orange arrows are ovulation (tracked with OPKs, the day before was my peak) and the yellow circle is when I had shooting almost like electric shock pains right through my vagina and cervix, and also stabbing ache pains in my nipple but only my left one. The vagina pain lasted like 30 seconds - a minute, and the nipple pain was throughout the two days very regularly.

gezelligheid · 01/05/2021 10:30

I dunno what's up with mumsnet this morning but I couldn't upload this. Here it is, hopefully this works.

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/05/2021 10:32

Hi guys I've been following but haven't had much to say as I'm new to rhr but @gezelligheid have you done a test yet? That looks very promising!!

gezelligheid · 01/05/2021 11:06

@Marvellouslymadmum a negative on a wondfo this morning so I'm gonna hold out til Monday with a FRER if AF doesn't show up.

Sounds so silly but I went to a psychic a while ago and I don't know if anyone believes in all that, but a psychic told me May would be significant for me in terms of conception so we will see Blush

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/05/2021 11:10

@gezelligheid sounds like a good plan! I believe there are psychics are true

NJOBX · 01/05/2021 11:32

@gezelligheid You’re chart looks very promising, I have my fingers crossed for you!!! That’s a very strong rise in the last few days Smile

Where you had the pain, it plateaued for 2 days then you had a rise, which is strange because I’ve attached my chart for today and in the last few days I’ve had pain around the same areas and mine plateaued for 2 days and has risen by 1 this morning and a rise in BBT! Fingers crossed this is a good sign. Good luck for your testing on Monday 🤞🏼 x

@gezelligheid I meant some psychic's 🤦🏼‍♀️

gezelligheid · 02/05/2021 18:24

Had a 1bpm drop today so I dunno if that means AF is gonna come tomorrow. But we will see Sad

gezelligheid · 02/05/2021 18:28

I also fell off a chair at work today and I've been having lower back aches ever since Blush I don't know if it's from my fall or aches from AF being due, but I'm really hoping it's just cos I had a fall

NJOBX · 02/05/2021 20:22

@gezelligheid
What is your heart rate like in relation to last month? How long have you been tracking?

I wouldn’t worry too much about 1bmp drop (I say this but I also worry so I completely understand haha), but I have read quite a few threads where people have said that is normal fluctuation, besides it could rise again tomorrow FC 🤞🏼

Do you usually ache when due AF?

gezelligheid · 02/05/2021 21:19

@NJOBX I've been tracking since September 2020. Last month my RHR didn't dip before AF, only on day 1 of AF and it wasn't as high as it is at the minute either.

Hmm sometimes I get period pains before AF but not every month so I guess it's a waiting game. Had a bubble bath anyway and I feel a lot better after that. My lower back is still a bit achey but I landed pretty hard on it on a concrete floor so to be expected I guess Blush

NJOBX · 02/05/2021 21:36

@gezelligheid
I had a really high rise like that last month but it then dipped 5 days before AF but if your AF is due tomorrow and your RHR is unusually high, this could be a good sign for you! You will have to let us know how you get on. Are you still going to test tomorrow?

They do say that early pregnancy symptoms are the same as AF symptoms so it is frustratingly a waiting game 😩

I’m glad you feel better after a bath, I hope you haven’t hurt yourself too much!

gezelligheid · 03/05/2021 11:05

AF is due today, having no signs and hasn't come yet. I'll test tomorrow because I forgot with fmu this morning, and there's still a chance of starting today so not gonna waste a test.

RHR is the same as yesterday, hasn't dipped so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

NJOBX · 03/05/2021 11:33

@gezelligheid
I don’t blame you for waiting, at least then you’ve waited for AF first and it’ll only give you a stronger line if you get a BFP 🤗

At least your RHR hasn’t gone down ☺️

I have attached mine... I am due AF tomorrow or Wednesday and my RHR has risen quite a bit this morning, I keep getting cramps but no other signs of AF so I’m kind of in the same boat as you currently! I’m not sure what to think of my RHR, it rose to its highest at about a week before AF last month so I’m thinking I might be late if AF does come which is frustrating 😩
