Think I am going to struggle all round doing them first thing, as we both get up at 6am and use the en-suite bathroom together........I have this big thing about him not seeing me wee (don't ask, long story )so I have to be really quick to go before he comes in.

May have to wee in a cup really quick and then test while he is in the shower......how comple do I have to make everything!

P.S I am still hunting for a good photo from sat night, bear with me!

sweetheart · 27/10/2004 15:47

really!!!! Well I never knew that - I'm slightly puzzled as to how you found that out but it's agreat little bit of knowledge!!!!

sweetheart · 27/10/2004 15:48

do you have another batroom you could use - or a lock on the door???

runtus · 27/10/2004 15:48

Simply by running out of my own and using his as a substitute........

runtus · 27/10/2004 15:49

Think I am just going to be REALLY quick, which should be a novelty!

He is also going to think I've gone stark staring mad - but that won't be a novelty!

MINNIE1 · 27/10/2004 15:52

I to use DP lids to do PG test's, What they don't know won't hurt!!!!! I let out a giggle every time he goes for it.. (now i do wash it out after each use) They should lend a hand once in a while....

sweetheart · 27/10/2004 15:52

My dh moaned and moaned at me not to leave the tests on the side after i finished with them - he's such a baby!!!!

I don't think you'll be able to do it quickly - you have to get your sample, use the pipette to put the sample on the test, then wait (i think it's 5 mins) for the result!!!

MommyD · 27/10/2004 15:53

Sorry to butt in on this wee thread, I have a question for you ladies. I have never looked at or used CM method. Can anyone tell me roughly how many days before ov does EWCM start?
Ta

runtus · 27/10/2004 15:55

I can do the sample and pipette bit quick though and leave it to 'develop' while I am in the shower I guess? Will give him something to look at while he brushes his teeth!

hester · 27/10/2004 15:56

Hi MommyD. It varies between individuals but usually 2-3 days i think.

sweetheart · 27/10/2004 15:58

sounds like you have a plan to me

runtus · 27/10/2004 16:09

I'm off now, see you all tomorrow!

SHELY · 27/10/2004 16:21

ok tessiebear, now iam really confused. my clear plan went from peak the day before yesterday, yesterday, (like i said in my earlier post), and it went to just high for today, however, when i just took an ovulation test strip it came up positive, so the one would indicate that ovulation and peak fertility is over, and the other is saying it's just beginning, which one do i trust? i am so confused, cause i don't know which one is more accurate? the monitor or the test strips. it's only my first month w/ the monitor, but why would the test strip show a positive surge, if ovulation is over and done with?? ughh...this is frustrating, any info you or anyone can give me would sooooo help me out!!

Wifeof · 27/10/2004 16:52

P.S. I'm still lurking...

tiptoes out.......

Tessiebear · 27/10/2004 17:01

Shely - never used the monitors i am afraid so dont quite no what is right and what isnt IYSWIM but swimmers do live for a few days so fingers crossed!

Bibi20 · 27/10/2004 17:16

Congratulations AussieSim!!!

Runtus - Re OPKs - it's actually best to use them in the afternoon as LH hormone builds up during the day. Apparently you should also avoid drinking for a few hours beforehand and hold your wee in for a while too! However trying to use the ones that need a pipette whilst in a cubicle at work might be a bit much??!

Shely - first of all just to say 5 x then 3 x bd'ing - I'm not surprised you're sore!! (By the way, I've heard that doing it more than once doesn't always help your chances, partly cos if you get sore it can cause your EWCM to dry up, but also cos it doesn't give time to build up sperm stocks so after the first couple of goes it can end up being mostly fluid with no swimmers!)

I've also read (somewhere) that OPKs can be positive sometimes post ovulation (hormones going up and down I think), best to just use them in conjunction with your other signs - you probably have to build up a picture over time though as it's not always obvious...

Hope that helps?!

bonniej · 27/10/2004 17:27

AF here Oh well, heres to next cycle.

MunnzieB · 27/10/2004 17:30

Shely, my friends doctor told her that they clear blue OV tests that u do mid stream, are normally a few days out. Mine normally gladually build up have a peak and then literally stop dead the following day.

SHELY · 27/10/2004 18:50

thanks for writing back munzzieb, so does that mean i can still be fertile, even after my peak on the monitor stopped dead on this morning, and went to high? are they off a couple days early or late. i just didn't know what to trust the monitor (my first month of using it), or todays op test strip that shows a positive lh surge still, it's so confusing, thanks for your help i appreciate it. just dont know whether to keep winding up the hubby for sex, or if i should let it go now. baby dust to you!!

mariella · 27/10/2004 19:26

congratulations aussiesim! wow, a graduate a day
sorry to hear that bonnie

my opks (clearblue) say on the instructions that you can use them with clomid fwiw.

MunnzieB · 27/10/2004 19:26

hi shely,

Firstly i think he ment a few days out as in when the over the counter tests say you're ov normally you've already done it, and secondly, thanks for the baby dust, but back atch! lol, hubbys away so i'm doing all the fertility tests alon still will have loads of fun in jan when he comes back lol. when he was at home thou just to be on the safe side we had sex every other day (just incase! lol, turns out was a waste of time thou, but still had fun trying! ) good luck thou

Hi everyone - been lurking on and off for a while now but decided to come out of the closet so to speak and join in with this great thread! I feel as though I know half the people on it already just from reading through!!!

My stats are ttc no 2 since March on and off as my DH works away so there is a distinct lack of BD happening!! We got lucky with DD first time of trying and so its a bit of a new area for me and sadly I'm becoming something of a control freak and want it NOW!

I have 28 day cycles on the nose so am CD6 today and DH is back from overseas on Saturday - does this mean the BD should commence in earnest??? He is actually around all of next week too so he might think that all his christmases have come at once???!

Good luck to everyone although I will admit to being something of a novice but am always ready with a willing ear and am always on for a bit of a gossip!!!

MommyD · 27/10/2004 20:02

Welcome SilverLining! I have 27-29 day cycles and am a bit ahead of you as I am on cd9. Like you, dh works on and off abroad so I fully expect to have timing issues too. Fertile time will probably happen this weekend so hopefully will get lucky this cycle
