Re the thread - I was thinking that Tania2 should start the next one (if you want to!) - it only seems right that the person starting it gets a chance to at least test during the course of her thread?!

Alternatively how about the person starting it being someone who is waiting to test now, so testing before it gets too long!! (then Tania2 could start the one after?)

(I'm getting into this superstition thing - but on previous ttc threads there was a run of them where the person starting it got a bfp during their thread)

valleygirl · 02/11/2004 11:09

Hi Bibi20
well my GP worked it out based on a 28 day cycle i think - however this month my cycle was just 26 days, though it can be anything between 28-32 days normally. is it supposed to test after ovulation has occurred or before? now i am confused, and i sensed the GP was a little too!

Sallie · 02/11/2004 11:10

..thought I might have got things the wrong way round. Not really hurting - just feel a little tender when bd around 'o' time - anyone else feel this? Its obviously not my cervix then!

RudyDudy · 02/11/2004 11:15

Hi Sallie, I know nothing about cervix positions, etc (exc. that mine was once described as 'secret'?!) but I am tender when BD but like Tania it's because I have endo. Has this happened to you before or is it recent?

Twiga · 02/11/2004 11:16

Good idea Bibi. What do you reckon Tania?

Sallie, hows your dd doing? Hope things are ok x

wilbur · 02/11/2004 11:22

Wow - pamina - that's so great! Don't have a moment to chat but wanted to check how everyone was. So pleased there's another graduate! Sorry about AF hula - better luck next month. x

Tania2 · 02/11/2004 11:23

Of course i like the sound of that Bibi. You know i have never been superstisious but you seem to hold on to everything you can when ttc for so long.
RudyDudy tip from my natrapath for endo people.
Dont eat whole grain breads they clog up our system there has been studies on it so better of eating Sour dough rye or even white bread but white isnt really good for you cause of the bleach.
Dont take Vit B cant remember why but i will find out for you i had asked her last month if i could take it cause i thought my LP was too short and she explained it then.

Bagpuss30 · 02/11/2004 11:29

Congratulations Pamina3 .

valleygirl · 02/11/2004 11:37

congrats Pamina3!!!!
i have started a new thread with a good article on short lutenal phase for those interested.

Sallie · 02/11/2004 11:41

I am pretty sure I don't have endo. Its not recent - have had it for as long as I remember and have managed to have ds and dd so can't be affecting my fertility (I think!). Thanks for asking about dd - she is still poorly but is on the mend now.

BeckiF · 02/11/2004 11:49

Congrats Pamina ..... our turn soon we hope!

Hulababy · 02/11/2004 11:51

Bibi - no, not taking anything to try and increaseit. Just the way FF was worked it out.

sweetheart · 02/11/2004 11:53

Tania2 · 02/11/2004 12:25

Girls i have started Number 13 best of luck to everyone who will be the first to be testing. Whats our stats??
Iam CD 12 of a 25 day cycle.

OP posts:
Bibi20 · 02/11/2004 12:46

Valleygirl - the reason for day '21' is to check your level of progesterone. This can show if you have actually ovulated and whether you have a high enough level to sustain implantation, so it has to be after O.

If you do it too soon or too late in your cycle then the results might be misleading e.g. I sometimes O on day 20, testing for progesterone on day 21 for me might make the docs think I've not ovulated as there won't be enough prog in my blood, when my problem might be something completely different!

They test all the other hormones at the same time, and if you have any problems with them they'll do further blood tests at different points in your cycle to investigate further e.g. if FSH and LH hormone levels look dodgy in the first set of tests then they'll test them again before O (or something like that!)

HTH!

valleygirl · 02/11/2004 13:13

would it therefore be better for me to take my temperatures and go for a blood test 3-4 days after i've had a temp rise? because this month i ovulated on CD17, last month however i ovulated on CD20, which it seems would be a waste of time to do the blood tests.

Bibi20 · 02/11/2004 13:24

Hi Valleygirl - realised after I posted that everyone's on ttc 13 now - so will post there from now on...

If you know how long your luteal phase is, then take temps to check when you O and then work out the midway point.

You won't be able to tell which date to arrange tests for until you O - a bit of a pain if you're at work I'm afraid! If it has to be a day either side, no biggie, it's only really if you do O on day 20 like me that a day 21 test is fairly useless!

MunnzieB · 02/11/2004 18:24

is valley girls still on this thread or the new one?? I've posted on the new one about the 21 day blood test thing. (just done it myself!) welcome to the club hon!

SHELY · 05/11/2004 15:41

hi all! sorry it's been awhile, my computer has been on the fritz. very frustrating when i am used to using it day and night. ughh--- well, anyway here iam! i went to my specialist yesterday. after checking all of my bloodwork, sonogram, hsg test, and hormone levels, along with my hubby's sperm test, he is in awe of why iam not getting pregnant. i never saw such a professional doctor look so darn puzzled. well, what he suggessted now, is that when i get my period which is sue in less then a week now (if i get it fingers crossed that i won't), but if i do, he is going to start me on clomid, so i have more eggs, even though i have no problem ovulating, and we are going to try the IUI, for a couple times this next cycle. (where they put the sperm into my uterus w/ a cathetre), doesn't found fun, but iam excited that they are taking action with me. the only thing i can think of that may be wrong, is my lack of that fertile, stretchy mucus, when i ovulate. i tried the robitussin, but it didn't do enough. i guess the IUI, will make it so the sperm bypasses the need for that mucus, and is right in good standing for meeting the eggs. i know the odds each time, aren't as great as i would like them to be, but iam happy to try, even though the hubby now has to pay 15% of all of my doctor's visits and tests, until january 1st then they will cover everything up to $50,000. i just can't wait 2 months for this ya know? they said if this does not work i would go straight to the IVF, cause there are no other issues for them to treat. that i would definately wait for insurance to pick up. have any of you guys had this procedure done, or know any one who has? was it ever successful. i have never been on a fertility drug eigther so iam excited thoug a bit nervous as well. thanks for listening guys. i hope all is well, and that we get some more success stories on here, before the next new thread!! baby dust to all!! ((hugs!))

Twiga · 05/11/2004 16:39

Hey Shely, we're all across on ttc 13, folk on dial up connections were finding that this one took too long to load so Tania started another. We also set up a stats thread so we could have an at a glance way of seeing where folk are at - can post your details there too if you want. See you over on the new thread x
