Hey ladies,

Thought I'd start a new thread for anyone new to this like me 🙋🏼‍♀️

We're TTC after a change of plans when COVID postponed our wedding 🙄

Currently cycle 1 of TTC WITH AF due in 3 days.. I think I can feel it coming tbh.

Didn't use any form of ovulation tracker other than Flo (which I've used to track period for years) this cycle.

Spot on @Meg87 it's just good to know if nothing else!
I said the exact same thing about not tracking but I am completely obsessed 🙈 it's tough making sure sex doesn't become a chore isn't it. We aren't there yet, he'd do it everyday anyway properly! 😂

@beckyBP that's the plan! It's funny at school they spend so long telling you not to get pregnant when in reality it is hard to actually get pregnant! There's such a small window in a month for it to happen and you have to try and work out when that window is...it's hard work!

@Meg87 I am on day 15 so I've got my flashy smiley 3 days earlier than I did last month.
Flo said my fertile window opens today but I did a test yesterday just to see and it was the plain circle and then today I got my flashy so I'm impressed that Flo was right on the mark!
Yeah that's right so it detects two types of hormone and when they rise that's why you get the flashy smiles and when you're just about to ovulate you get the static.

beckyBP · 27/07/2020 16:30

@doublecheeseburgermediumfries tell me about it! I spent my teenage life trying not to get pregnant and being so careful! I naively thought it would happen in our first month!

LemonDrizzle44 · 27/07/2020 18:52

I had a temp drop today. I've read you can get a second oestrogen surge 3-4DPO and temp should pick up again tomorrow. Can't see anything about it affecting implantation? Anyone know anything about this?

Meg87 · 27/07/2020 20:22

@doublecheeseburgermediumfries and @beckyBP isn't it so crazy how it's not as simple as you think to get pregnant, after everything you hear at school! And now I've been reading about incompetent cervixes (bit of a mean name for it I think), hostile cervical mucus etc, there's so much that has the potential to go wrong! Trying to remain positive though 😉

Marden11302 · 28/07/2020 19:22

Af has finally arrived! On to the next cycle. Since finding out I wasn’t pregnant this cycle it feels like it’s taken me ages to come on.

This is my last cycle of trying though, otherwise it’s too close to the new wedding date.
Stress levels will be high, any tips on how to not stress? 😂 “don’t get stressed about it” is all anyone can say to me 😂

beckyBP · 28/07/2020 20:06

Cycle 2 I'm ready for ya

I just had exciting news, in my first cycle off the Progesterone only pill I’m ovulating 🎉🎉

Atleast I’m tracking LH and it’s just shot up really high! Bring on next month Grin

@beckyBP oooow good haul! What’s in the Vital DHA box?

beckyBP · 30/07/2020 09:07

Amazing @PinkPlantCase 👏🏽👏🏽 that's amazing for your first cycle!

The VitalDHA has fish oil and zinc which apparently helps to improve egg quality. X

doublecheeseburgermediumfries · 30/07/2020 10:45

@beckyBP had a nosey at the box and it says it's for men and women. Is your partner getting on board with taking supplements too or are these all for you?

beckyBP · 30/07/2020 13:10

@doublecheeseburgermediumfries at the mo just me! I think he'd be happy to. Stupidly I didn't really Th ink of him taking any x

PinkPlantCase · 02/08/2020 10:58

@TTCBaby1 I can only see one, keep testing though it might have just been too soon!

How many days DPO are you?

beckyBP · 03/08/2020 15:41

Hey ladies, this is the first time I'm taking an ovulation test and I don't get it 😩 on Femometer this is coming up as LH 0%. Any advice?

@beckyBP from what I gather the line that appears needs to be darker than the control line, but it’ll be my first month using these tests too so don’t take my word for it 😂

Bramleyapples13 · 03/08/2020 18:37

Hello everyone. Can I join this thread? As odd as it sounds it's nice to be able to speak to other people you don't know about TTC when you're trying to keep it secret from your family!

Meg87 · 03/08/2020 18:48

Hi @beckyBP, I'm definitely no expert at this is also my first month using them, but I think @Marden11302 is right in that the line on the left is darker than the line on the right when you're having your LH surge (and are therefore about to ovulate). So your test looks like it's negative.
I'm so confused about my ovulation test results... They keep fluctuating!
Hi @Bramleyapples13. I know what you mean, it's all quite exciting isn't it so it's nice to be able to talk about it, while not letting everyone in real life know you're trying 😃

beckyBP · 03/08/2020 18:58

@Meg87 @Marden11302 thanks ladies. I'm CD 9 so a bit early but the line confused me. Trying SMEP this month too.. I think I'm putting a bit too much pressure on 🙈 it's only month 2 of TTC

Of course you can @Bramleyapples13 it's amazing to speak to other people in the same position!

Bramleyapples13 · 03/08/2020 19:52

Thank you! We've been trying since just before lockdown but no luck yet. It's just so hard when you can't talk to anyone close to you Grin Amazon had an offer on the Clearblue Digital OPK a little while ago which I've been using with the cheapie OPK and they're much easier to read.

beckyBP · 03/08/2020 21:10

@Bramleyapples13 ah really? I might have to give them a go. I bought a load of cheapies and they blow my mind 🤯😂

Are you doing anything else? I've started taking a load of vitamins / supplements this month. Xx

OP posts:
Meg87 · 03/08/2020 22:02

I've only got the cheapie OPKs but I do find testing with them quite addictive. Just wish I didn't get such crazy results! They keep fluctuating between high and low, don't know what's going on with my body 😣

Bramleyapples13 · 04/08/2020 08:11

I didn't want to spend a lot on the OPK but I didn't read them right for a few months. I thought that the surge in LH meant I had already ovulated. What a nelly Hmm the Clearblue ones show a flashing smiley then a static smiley on your best days to DTD. So I use the cheap ones on the run up then the expensive ones to confirm it.

I've just been taking folic acid. What do people think about vitamin D? Should that be one to take too?

somanystars · 04/08/2020 08:42

Hi everyone, hope it's okay for me to join too 😊 I quickly read through the whole thread and noticed someone saying they felt intimidated even just writing that they were TTC #1 and that's totally me, now on CD11 of cycle 1 and the whole thing is quite daunting! So exciting though, I've wanted this for quite a while and we were originally going to try next year on our 2yr wedding anniversary in May, then we moved it back to my birthday in Jan and finally decided to just go for it this month. Frankly I'd been hanging around the conception forums for an embarrassingly long time already so I'm just excited I get to use some of the acronyms myself now 😅

I've had my flashing smiley two days in a row so very anxious to get going although (TMI) I had to use a Canesten pessary a few days ago (typical) so probably going to have to wait another day or two, hoping we don't miss our window!

I'm also in the same kind of boat I've seen a couple of you mention (as is my husband) of sort of naively hoping or expecting to catch first time... but a bit of optimism isn't a bad thing right!?

Hope everyone's doing well this morning 😊

somanystars · 04/08/2020 08:48

@Bramleyapples13 I've been wondering about vit D and others as well, but for now I'm sticking to folic acid and a multivitamin. I think it'd be so easy to spend a fortune on a hundred different supplements and I know I'm prone to doing that sort of thing so leaving it at the moment!

beckyBP · 04/08/2020 11:29

@somanystars @Bramleyapples13 supplement wise I take high strength folic acid, COQ10 and Vital DHA

I found them on this blog
