Hey ladies,

Thought I'd start a new thread for anyone new to this like me 🙋🏼‍♀️

We're TTC after a change of plans when COVID postponed our wedding 🙄

Currently cycle 1 of TTC WITH AF due in 3 days.. I think I can feel it coming tbh.

Didn't use any form of ovulation tracker other than Flo (which I've used to track period for years) this cycle.

@MintGreenLife oh that’s what we debated doing, but after speaking with the venue we decided against it. It’s such a hard decision, we only made it a few weeks back after going back and fourth with what to do. A small ceremony will be lovely to be officially married too 😊. It’s nice to hear from others going through the same.

Oh no that’s frustrating, that is what I always think, you don’t know how it’s going to be until you start trying. Fingers crossed you start ovulating soon. There’s always ways around things.

I had the copper coil so non-hormonal so I’ve been lucky in that I haven’t had to worry about hormones getting out of my system.

beckyBP · 21/07/2020 21:04

@Kristy17 hey Hun. I'm in the same boat. We were June. Then sept and probably now next aug but I fully feel like I'm fitting my wedding around trying to conceive. SUPER worried about my right dress 😂

We're cycle 1 of TTC. AF due in 3 days and tbh I can feel it coming. Haven't tested as think a BFN would be harder for me personally than a period.

Didn't do anything in terms of OPKs or temperature this time so definitely going to look into it for next month as well as no caffeine and vitamins

@Kristy17 having already postponed once, I really hope our venue and all our suppliers will be flexible if we have to do it again 😕 But then I worry about fitting it in with baby number 2 as we don't want too big an age gap 🙈 Think I'm getting ahead of myself. Things would have been so much more straightforward has we all just been able to get married and then TTC like we planned 🙄

That's great you don't have the pill to contend with and added to the mix. It has been a little disappointing that I've not got back to normal, and I can't figure out why as I'm a healthy weight, eat well, exercise regularly, don't drink much etc, but it's just one of those things. I read a study that showed 60% of women start ovulating within weeks of stopping, and the! 40% experience cycle abnormalities for up to 9 months afterwards. I hoped I would be one of the 60% but alas not.

Have you put a vague cutoff time of when you'll stop trying? Ours would be end of September, but that feels like it's too close, and given how things are going with coming off the pill so far I don't think we will catch by then, so I think we will most likely just carry on x

Kristy17 · 21/07/2020 22:03

@MintGreenLife my fingers are crossed for you. But I also definitely get the age gap things, that’s why we’ve gone for it. We always said we would start trying from July so after we postponed the wedding we just decided we’d go with it and carry on with that, the wedding is out of hands but trying for baby 2 isn’t.

I’m not surprised, I know I’d be disappointed too. I didn’t realise the stats were so high with how long it could take to get back to your normal cycle that’s crazy, I was on the pill before baby 1.

We haven’t discussed a cut off, but it would probably be end of October to give us a July baby meaning August would be free ahead of the wedding. I wouldn’t want to risk being heavily pregnant/due end of Aug and/or the possibility of giving birth at our wedding, or the week before. I went 3 days overdue last time so don’t trust it if that makes sense haha. But I’m also a bridesmaid in June for a close friend of mine since school amazingly, so also don’t want to miss that, and that is her postponed wedding too. It’s a tight frame so it’s difficult and obviously if we stopped trying and hadn’t fallen pregnant then the age gap would increase to longer than we’d ideally like, but alas.

@beckyBP these are the ones I’ve been taking. I had to talk to the Gp about TTC as I normally take medication that I have to come to avoid risks to a baby. Anyway GP recommend vitamin D and folic acid. She said to take them for 3 months before! Online it says 1 month so I think she was being a bit extra. I’ll have been taking them for about 2 months when we start trying.

PinkPlantCase · 21/07/2020 22:17

I really hope I’m pregnant enough by Christmas to be able to tell people why I’m not drinking. That’s the dream anyway!

beckyBP · 22/07/2020 08:53

@PinkPlantCase ah thank you for the recommendations! I'll get onto those.

Yeah that's would be nice by Christmas.

I've got a family holiday for my 30th next May, (in the UK) but IKEA's hoping to catch this month so the baby would be about a month. If I catch next cycle I'd have to cancel the holiday x

MintGreenLife · 22/07/2020 09:28

@Kristy17 thank you :) you never know it could all work out in the end! It's tricky isn't it as it's just a waiting game, but for me with this being our first I feel like if I learn as much as I can then I'm giving us the best chance possible, just praying my cycles get back on track! Now CD36 with no ovulation...kind of hoping my body just gives up soon and that AF arrives so I can get on with a new cycle. Keeping my fingers crossed for you too! x

beckyBP · 22/07/2020 15:27

Hey ladies,

How are we all? AF is due in two days for me and I'm so bloated and cramping 😫

In a way I want it to just arrive now so I can get prepared for the next ovulation window!

OP posts:
PinkPlantCase · 22/07/2020 20:02

I caved and told one of my RL friends that I’ve been coming off the pill 🙈 how have you guys got on with not telling anyone?

@beckyBP are you going to try and track ovulation this time round?

I know what you mean about just wanting AF out the way! I’m just finishing what will have been a withdrawal bleed so can’t wait to have a proper period so we can make a start.

beckyBP · 22/07/2020 20:35

@PinkPlantCase tbh sometimes I think it's good to tell someone! I've told 3 friends, my mum, sister in law and hairdresser 😂🙈

Yes definitely! I think I'm going to get some ovulation tests and some conceiving supplements.

What about you?

OP posts:
Kristy17 · 22/07/2020 22:16

@MintGreenLife you definitely never you, same for you. I am imagine, hope it comes soon so you can start your next cycle of getting back to normal.

Good luck @beckyBP and @PinkPlantCase

I’ve told people that I see relatively regularly, speak to most days. I’ve been pretty open with wanting to TtC baby 2 and from when, and I didn’t think I was going to be able to get the coil out because of Covid, so they had an idea. Only friends know though.

beckyBP · 22/07/2020 22:22

@Kristy17 I'm the same, quite open with my closest. I think you've just got to do what's best for you. I've only told the people that, if the worst happened and I miscarried, id talk to and rely on anyway if that makes sense? Xx

hi hope you dont mind me joining! first month ttc i m going it solo so doing it thorugh donations had first one today was nerve racking! so know in tww. got my peak at 4 in the morning but didnt test day before so hoping im not out this month! good lcuk all!

PinkPlantCase · 22/07/2020 22:38

@beckyBP we’re going to carry on using protection until the end of August so I’ve had 1 full cycle being off the pill. Though I’m tempted to do some ovulation sticks just to see if I ovulate in the coming month. I was on a mini pill that wasn’t meant to stop ovulation so fingers crossed it shouldn’t take months to be back to normal.

I’m struggling a bit though with some tablets that I take for migraines. I’ve had to come off them to TTC. It’s a few weeks until they’ll be out of my system but I’ve got down to half the dose and since Monday I’ve had a super bad headache everyday by about 4pm 😴😴 so I really hope it doesn’t take us too long to convince because I can’t put up with this forever.

Hi @ohsotrying going solo does sound exciting! Fingers crossed for you! Did you get much choice over the donations?

beckyBP · 22/07/2020 22:42

Hey @ohsotrying 👋🏽 of course you are more than welcome to join.

Well done you going it alone! I love that. If you don't mind me asking, is it self insemination you are doing or IUI?

The TWW SUCKS doesn't it.. It always seemed to fly by when not TTC but when that changes it drags! Xx

OP posts:
ohsotrying · 22/07/2020 22:47

Hi @beckybp yes it's self insembtiantiob found donor through website

beckyBP · 22/07/2020 22:50

@PinkPlantCase there's no harm in seeing if you ovulate is there ☺️

Oh lord the headaches don't sound good 😖 hopefully it's something that eases xx

OP posts:
beckyBP · 22/07/2020 22:52

@ohsotrying that's amazing!! I've only recently become aware of that as an option but I think it's brilliant! Is it expensive? X

PabsyPops · 22/07/2020 23:26

Hi everyone! I hope I am okay to join. I have been off contraception for around 10 months now but not actively TTC. I'd say the last 2 months we've been putting more effort in. I actually thought I was pregnant last month with implantation bleed but turned our AF just arrived a week early 🤷🏼‍♀️

My periods only seem to last a day or two... does anyone know if that's a bad thing when TTC?

HollyWell · 22/07/2020 23:42

Hi ladies

I hope it’s okay to join in, I’ve never posted in a forum before! But like so many of you I find not discussing TTC with friends or family so tough! I got married in September and came off the pill in March - we planned to start TTC in June but put it off for a month because of work pressures/commitments. So this is our first cycle!

Can I just ask whether anyone else is a bit anxious TTC during the pandemic? We had always planned to start trying this year and I really don’t want to delay it but find myself panicking and I don’t really know why!

beckyBP · 23/07/2020 08:45

Hey ladies 👋🏽 of course it's ok to join!

@PabsyPops ooo I'm not actually sure when it comes to period length. Hopefully someone else in the group will be able to help. I know it's easier said than done but you've only been trying two months (we've only been 1) so try not to worry. Are you doing anything with regards to tracking ovulation or pre pregnancy supplements? I'm going to look into it tomorrow if/when AF arrives.

@HollyWell definitely! It is daunting. It's daunting once you've made the decision anyway despite being in the middle of a pandemic. It was my idea and took my fiancé a while to come around (with it no being our plan until we we're married). When he did I had a little panic like 'ahh am I really ready' I think it's so normal as it's such a huge thing

@beckyBP dont have to pay for donor as it thorugh meeting not a clinic which does have its legal side but does make it cheap. tthis cycle cost me about £180 that included trains hotel, food etc as i ttravelled to him

Kristy17 · 23/07/2020 22:41
