Oh bless that's fantastic news @Carefree1! I am SO happy for you ❤😘 I can sense the joy and relief all the way through your post! What's your EDD? Also, any gut instinct boy/girl?

Happy second trimester to us! I can't believe I'm saying this ❤❤❤🌈 xxx

Carefree1 · 04/02/2021 08:17

Thanks @PurplePansy05! Mines 15th August 🥰. How about you? I don’t really have a feeling, I use him a lot, but I’m not sure whether that’s because I have a feeling, or my husband says it. I’ll definitely be finding out though.

Thank you so much for your support through this time, it’s been a long first trimester 😘 xx

PurplePansy05 · 04/02/2021 08:37

Mine is 12 August @Carefree1 😊 It's been brought forward by quite a few days, I'm confused as to when we actually conceived now, that's a little bit of magic haha 😂 Or it's just a big boy I better stop with the carbs now 😂

Ah you have nothing to thank for, the support has been mutual. Many times when I was borderline crazy with anxiety your calm words have really helped me ❤

If you want to join I am also on an August 2021 birth club thread, it's a mix of ladies who have never experienced loss before, some of us have, some of us already have young DCs. Everyone is at the same stage of pregnancy now though which is quite nice. Let me know if you'd like me to link it up, would be lovely to have you there xx

PurplePansy05 · 04/02/2021 08:39

Also I can't work out the sex from your scan, I can see you have a little wriggler too 😂 But my instict is maybe a girl? I'll be so excited to find out later!!! xx

PurplePansy05 · 04/02/2021 08:42

Also nice & tight NT there, I'm pretty sure you had very good measurements there? Mine came back as 1.7 cm which the sonographer was v happy with (and of course we had NIPT by then so I was calm about that). Yours looks perfect there xx

PurplePansy05 · 04/02/2021 08:43

*mm not cm, I can't think these days, I swear! xx

Carefree1 · 04/02/2021 09:53

That’s great, seems like you’ve got a big, strong boy there and it’s absolutely nothing to do with the carbs 😂. I know just a healthy baby matters, but how lovely a summer baby will be!!!

Ah yes, I think now that I’ve had the scan and all went well, I’d love to join.

Ok, so again, weird, my NT was 1.7mm too. I’ve not had my bloods back as they were running behind and not ready, but they said they’d call me yesterday if there was anything.

I can’t wait, I think I’ll book a scan for 16 weeks to find out. I did look at the sneak peak, but the reviews are terrible xx

PurplePansy05 · 04/02/2021 10:30

Here it is @Carefree1:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/birth_clubs/4142541-August-2021-Scans-and-booking-in

It's already a second thread and it's been 20 pages, it's quite active haha! But you haven't missed anything as such, it's just been moving on a weekly basis really and everyone is now pretty much 12 weeks or thereabouts so no doubt there will be some useful discussions going forward 😊

How funny we had the same measurements! What a coincidence. I'm deffo booking a 16 week growth scan to see my boy, I already have a MW appointment booked in the last week of Feb for when I'm 15+5 and a 20 week scan on 26.03. It's crazy to even think about it! Xx

PurplePansy05 · 04/02/2021 10:33

On that note, I'd go with a reputable clinic tbh, this way you know what they're doing and they'll pick up on any issues and refer you there and then (not that we should expect this to happen of course, but just in case). I looked up mine but sadly it's only local to me, nothing near you. But I'm sure there have to be some good ones near you as well, worth doing a research before xx

Slk3558 · 13/02/2021 10:47

Hi everyone .. I just wanted to get some advice with regards to testing. I got my BFP yesterday at 10 DPO first cycle after mmc. was really happy that it happened so fast and I’m so thankful yet understandably anxious. It was a faint line, I want to carry on testing to see HCG progression, but I want to find the strength to resist - because I remember being very obsessive/anxious last time about seeing line progression and I ended up miscarrying? Anyone else going through this ? Xx

Slk3558 · 13/02/2021 10:50

What I mean is do you think it’s better to not know what’s going on down there and take each day as it comes? Because testing can provide reassurance if it goes in a positive direction, but if you don’t get the results you want the anxiety just goes through the roof..

PurplePansy05 · 13/02/2021 10:52

@Slk3558 I was checking every 2 days for the first week and a half. But I was checking in my previous pregnancies too and unfortunately this is not an indication of a healthy pregnancy at all, my third pregnancy was a MMC and the lines were getting stronger, CB digi how many weeks was progressing like a dream and I felt pregnant all the way till 13 wks. The only thing it will tell you is whether it's a CP.

Slk3558 · 13/02/2021 13:20

@PurplePansy05 you’re definitely right, it’s not in indication at all, I had a 3+ cb digi as well and ended up having mmc. Though looking back I don’t think my hcg progression was as solid / strong for example I didn’t get a dye stealer until 23 dpo and that was not as strong as the ones you tend to see posted online. How many weeks are you now? Xx

PurplePansy05 · 13/02/2021 13:36

I'm 14+2 now @Slk3558. Wishing you all the luck 🙏💐 It was an anxious few months for me xx

Slk3558 · 13/02/2021 13:44

Thanks @PurplePansy05 and congratulations on yours. do you mind me asking how many m/c you had before this one ? and did you go for an early scan this time x

MustStopSnacking28 · 13/02/2021 13:59

Hi girls I posted on this a while ago but never got back to some posters who replied, so sorry! I just wanted to re-join again if that’s ok. I have actually had a BFP last week after a MMC in October (found out the day before my dads funeral Sad). It has been subsequently confirmed as a partial molar pregnancy but I didn’t find this out until after we had already started to TTC again. I am now anxiously waiting for an early scan on 24th feb to check whether this is a viable pregnancy or the previous molar playing tricks Sad I’m finding things tough! I hope you are all well and congratulations to some of you on BFPs.

PurplePansy05 · 13/02/2021 14:00

@Slk3558 I had 3. I am now under care of the Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic so had early scans on the NHS xx

JoJo58995 · 22/02/2021 22:09

@Purplepansy05 I just wanted to say congratulations!! I'm so sorry been meaning to say it for ages as I kept an eye on this thread keeping everything crossed for you and am so so happy to hear your news and see your gorgeous scan pic 💕💕 good luck with everything!! Xx

Slk3558 · 04/03/2021 12:24

Hi again @PurplePansy05. So I miscarried for a second time. Just going through the heavy bleeding now I’m 6+2. I started spotting 5+2.

I know it’s very common, but I’m only 27 and thinking maybe underlying issue. I am struggling with the idea of it happening by ‘chance’ twice in a row. As it’s only two mcs the hospital said won’t investigate til 3rd loss. So just have to try again and see what happens.

Can I ask whether you were put on any meds after your third mc? I’ve been reading a lot about baby asprin helping women with recurrent mc. I do have immediate family history of blood clot disorders so I am wondering if there’s a connection.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I hope your pregnancy is going well.

PurplePansy05 · 04/03/2021 12:44

Hi @Slk3558. I'm sorry to hear this 💐 I know that's not what you want to hear but this really can be entirely down to bad luck.

I had all the usual blood tests and genetic testing of the pregnancy tissue. No cause has ever been found, bad luck. Purely as a precuaution I was prescribed Cyclogest 2x400 mg daily from BFP by my Recurrent Miscarriage Consultant. I've also been advised to take 75mg aspirin daily from BFP until 36 weeks also by the consultant, but I wouldn't recommend the latter without prior blood tests to ensure aspirin doesn't actually harm you.

You are correct, the NHS will not test you now because two MCs sadly are fairly common and most have no underlying cause. Remember recurrent miscarriage only affects 1% of women and even then it can be just a random event.

You can of course pay to be tested privately, full bloods and physical examinations in my area cost between £1500-£2000, it depends where you are.

You can also consider liaising with Dr Brosens Implantation Clinic in Coventry and get tested privately for Natural Killer Cells, it's two biopsies for around £540 from what I remember. They are lovely there and will accept you after 2 consecutive MCs. I was going to have this done but I found out I was pregnant and you cannot be tested in pregnancy or when TTC. Have a read on that and consider if that's something you might be interested in doing. There are multiple threads on MN about NK Cells, it's the future of MC research. There are also several recommended doctors, apart from Coventry, so do your research.

Thank you for your kind words to you and @JoJo58995, sorry I've missed your notification earlier. I'm 17 weeks today 💙. Wishing you best of luck on your journeys. xx

Slk3558 · 04/03/2021 12:56

@PurplePansy05. Thank you for getting back so quickly!! You know what I’ve been reading so many stories of women with recurrent mc who’ve gone on to be prescribed Progesterone and baby asprin 75mg and had a successful pregnancy. And I honestly don’t think it’s a coincidence. My difficulty is I really want to avoid a 3rd mc when I get pregnant again - I won’t be able to get progesterone supplements as GP won’t prescribe. Baby asprin I have read that 75mg won’t do any harm unless u have some bleeding conditions . So I am very much interested to start taking that on the next go. But if it is a progesterone deficiency causing the mc , which from what i read no scientific research supports the theory - I been doing a lot of research over the past week. but if it was I’d like to take progesterone to be on safe side but how would I get it prescribed !? Do you know if you can get it on private prescriptions? And do you think progesterone cream could be used a substitute?

PurplePansy05 · 04/03/2021 13:18

@Slk3558 That's not entirely correct re progesterone, Tommy's PRISM and PROMISE show its positive impact in recurrent MC patients (ie 3 or more consecutive MCs).

Forget about progesterone creams, it's a gimmick I wouldn't even bother with.

You can get a private prescription, obviously you'd need to be seen by a private consultant first. I took progesterone after a private prescription after 2 losses and I had a third loss. Progesterone also cost me around £160 on a private prescription.

Tbh I was thinking the same as you after 2 losses but in hindsight I don't think that is the best approach. This is because you can't control how the pregnancy goes and even on all the supporting medication it may end up in a MC. MCs happen for different reasons, if yours were for example chromosomal they would have been entirely unavoidable. Meds will only help if you have an issue, like a clotting issue, low progesterone, implantation problems, auto-immune disease etc. I genuinely understood before getting pregnant again that I am taking the risk again and I had to accept that. I actually think that in my case the meds were either a complete placebo that had no impact or baby aspirin possibly helped if I dwvelop APS in pregnancy, but as women do not get routinely tested in early pregnancy, I'll never know.

I think you need to take a step back and think through what your options are now in few weeks' time. For now, look after yourself and don't rush. xx

Slk3558 · 05/03/2021 14:29

@PurplePansy05 thank you so much for your advice. I probs will go for the low dose asprin on my next , though I’ll probably have to manage without the progesterone. At least next time it’ll either be success and if it’s not then it’ll be 3rd time I’ll get referred to the RM clinic. So either way it’s progress. Thanks again for your help x
