Hi,

We have just hit the 12 month mark of TTC and looks like AF is on the way Sad I am on another thread that's really supportive but I do find it disheartening when people get positives on the first couple of cycles of trying. So thought I'd start a thread for anyone around about the year mark. It'll be good to share things and get advice from people who are at a similar stage to me. Im 34 and my husbands 36. We are TTC number 1 x

@OrdinaryLilac Congratulations 🥳 that’s a fab line!!

@Whilstwewait I totally understand going private now. I’m 32, so I feel like I still have a bit of time. Not much mind. I wanted x2 before I was 35 - that’s not going to happen now though.

@notyetamumbuttrying have fun 😉

AF is here in full force now - so new cycle for me. Will ring the doctors Monday to get an appointment booked.

Now onto cycle 15. Will this ever end!

Hayley19835 · 11/07/2020 09:50

@VenusTiger is he taking anything supplement wise now? Our SA sample was done at home and then I had to race to the hospital with it tucked in my pocket to keep it warm 😂 OH has had a blood test for testosterone,Fsh and LH levels and our fertility specialist told us there is medication that can be taken to help increase or decrease these as needed. Depends how he feels about blood tests and taking meds etc x

notyetamumbuttrying · 11/07/2020 10:29

@Lauralozzle I did 😝 I was logging stuff in Flo afterwards and Dh was like what's that blue mean, what's the red mean. I was like erm what do you think red means? He's like the days not to bother? I said what does RED mean....then he got it 😂
Ah hun, cycle 15! I'm cycle 11. Will this be your first appointment for bloods etc?

Hayley19835 · 11/07/2020 10:33

@notyetamumbuttrying thanks I still feel young(ish) so hoping not but I guess time will tell. Have fun 😉 x

Lauralozzle · 11/07/2020 10:51

@notyetamumbuttrying haha! DH hasn’t got a clue for most of it. He’ll ask when I’m a ‘fertile myrtle’ though! I’m hoping that as the weather has cooled down a bit, he’ll not get so exhausted. Fertile week last cycle was during the short heat wave we had and he was struggling with the heat!

Yup, cycle 15. 13 months ttc now. I told DH this morning there was no pregnancy this month, so he made me breakfast and brought it up to me 😌 he’s a good ‘un sometimes!

It will be first appointment for bloods. Not been to doctors about TTC at all so far. Really have no idea what to expect. From what I understand the first step are bloods to confirm I’m ovulating (which I am) and SA for DH.

notyetamumbuttrying · 11/07/2020 10:56

@Hayley19835 you defo still are so I hope everything works out for you!
@Lauralozzle haha aww what a sweetie! Ah so you have short cycles too then. I'm cycle 11 and month 10, will by cycle 12 by end of this month which is why I joined the thread.
Yeah think that's right in terms of docs. I'm calling in August, waiting to see what cycle 12 does first, will know by end of the month. 😬

Hayley19835 · 11/07/2020 11:02

@Lauralozzle don't let them fob you off at docs mine told me to chill out and relax at 12 months of TTC! I went back and saw another doctor he sent me for bloods and SA for OH then referred us straight away x

@notyetamumbuttrying me 2! I didn't realise how hard this was and all the obstacles we'd face on this journey x

Whilstwewait · 11/07/2020 11:18

@OrdinaryLilac definitely getting darker for you. Really strong line x

@Nat4392 omg that's quick. I got referred to gynaecology in March should have been seen maybe May time if it wasn't for covid. I rang start of June and they said the woman wasn't even seeing people for whole of June and July and was then looking like a 4 month wait. That was for tube test though so not sure if that's why. That's why we are going private. Plus I asked gp to send me results from January bloods before our private appointment and my FSH was higher than recommended but gp said it was satisfactory so i don't want to wait any longer. Let us know how it goes

@Motherofkittens28 day 3 tests FSH and LH. I think AmH tells you more than FSH anyway so that's even better. My doctor also tested thyroid as that can cause issues and prolactin plus normal blood count and testosterone. Definitely worth getting your gp to do them tests.

Cant believe the nurse said that. I was 29 when i met my husband. We have only been together 5 years bought a house got married i definitely didnt choose to be trying now. I think we have moved pretty fast in that time definitely wasnt ready to try before.

@creepin welcome. Hope this is your lucky month. I know how shit it feels but lots of people go on to have natural pregnancies after the year mark so hopefully that's us. Id definitely start calling doctors for tests as they take time to arrange but will hopefully give you peace

@notyetamumbuttrying good luck in FW. Another few days for me to wait. Hoping i ovulate a couple of days earlier otherwise will be away with family for ovulation and my husband is not great at quickies 🙈🤣

@Whilstwewait eek well as long as you dtd before you go you'll still be in with a shot!
@Hayley19835 neither did I. Weirdly tho, I thought it it doesn't happen straight away, it'll take a year...two months to go to see if I was right or not!

Hayley19835 · 11/07/2020 11:34

@notyetamumbuttrying
I expected it to take a while as I'd been on the pill for years and it was a year after stopping it I fell pregnant. I'm hoping not to get to the 2 years post miscarriage but we are heading that way at the minute x

notyetamumbuttrying · 11/07/2020 11:48

@Hayley19835 aww so sorry to hear that! Bfp is very overdue for you then Thanks

Hayley19835 · 11/07/2020 11:52

@notyetamumbuttrying 🥰

PlanBea · 11/07/2020 15:45

@OrdinaryLilac congratulations! So pleased to see a BFP for you. Fingers crossed for a relaxed 9 months for you x

creepin · 11/07/2020 16:12

Thanks all for the welcome, and congratulations @OrdinaryLilac!!!

claireb707 · 11/07/2020 17:08

Congratulations @OrdinaryLilac strong line!!

Can't believe the nurse said that (sorry can't remember now who it was said too). I was certainly not concentrating on my career earlier. Unfortunately my ex H didn't want kids, in fact was very anti kids to the extent he would walk out a room if my niece or nephew walked in it. I left him 5 1/2 years ago (he ended up cheating on me so was a twat in other ways as well) and met partner nearly 5 years ago. We only decided to start trying last year after we had got settled in our first house together. Wish I knew then what I know now, would have suggested starting to try earlier 😢

notyetamumbuttrying · 11/07/2020 17:23

@claireb707 yeah same with starting earlier. U just don't know until you start tho, it's such a game of chance!

notyetamumbuttrying · 11/07/2020 17:52

Who was it that said about checking ivf and age in your area? How do I check as google is not helping me...anyone know a link they can post so I can check? All google does is take me to my own gp practice but it doesn't tell me their age limit for treatment. Thank you.

claireb707 · 11/07/2020 17:59

What area is it, can try looking. Otherwise it will be on your areas cgt website somewhere.

notyetamumbuttrying · 11/07/2020 18:22

South east London. Greenwich to be precise @claireb707 can you post the link to the cgt site please? I'm not sure why I'm being so simple about this but I'm getting stuck 🤨 thank you.

notyetamumbuttrying · 11/07/2020 18:37

@claireb707 I found it! It's below 40, phew! Although it does say you have to be ttc for 3 years...seems a bit long! We'll have to look into private as I doubt we can do two more years of this! Is 3 years the norm then?

claireb707 · 11/07/2020 18:38

Yeah mine says 40-42 you have to have tried for 2 years. So I've got no chance 😢

notyetamumbuttrying · 11/07/2020 18:49

Thanks @claireb707! I didn't realise it was so long. 3 years is madness! I wonder if we can go on the list straight away considering the waits are so long anyway and then maybe go private in the meantime. I'm thinking so far ahead, I need to chill. Been on my own today and my mind just wonders!! I need to remember we've still got two months left before the year mark, I do get ahead of myself 😕

Be care full going private, I think yours said as well but my area knock off any private treatment you have from the amount you are allowed. Some areas won't let you have NHS ivf if you have had private
