Hi,

We have just hit the 12 month mark of TTC and looks like AF is on the way Sad I am on another thread that's really supportive but I do find it disheartening when people get positives on the first couple of cycles of trying. So thought I'd start a thread for anyone around about the year mark. It'll be good to share things and get advice from people who are at a similar stage to me. Im 34 and my husbands 36. We are TTC number 1 x

@claireb707

Won't be in much luck as we only dtd around my suspected ovulation. If it was later we aren't in with a chance
Slight name change for me

Period finally turned up today! What would have been day 42 😩 suspected it was on its way imminently as temps plummeted and had very pale spotting yesterday

claireb7rg · 20/09/2020 20:11

We're going to need a new thread soon!!

notyetamumbuttrying · 20/09/2020 22:01

Ah sorry hun @claireb7rg even when you know it's coming, it's still shit anyway!
Yes, we're nearly full but not quite yet! I'm happy to create the next one if needs be x

Annny27 · 21/09/2020 12:26

@Whilstwewait thanks for the advice about my partner calling the GP - he is getting a sperm analysis soon :)

@notyetamumbuttrying I find because of the pandemic I cant even go on holiday and enjoy being childless if thays makes sense! So makes me feel worse

@claireb7rg sorry AF arrived but thankful she eventually turned up after the uncertainty!

notyetamumbuttrying · 21/09/2020 14:18

It defo does make sense @Annny27 we managed to get to Portugal whilst it was off the quarantine list and it was so lovely to get away! How you doing today then?

Motherofkittens28 · 21/09/2020 19:21

Hey everyone, so about 30mins ago I started getting really bad cramps, the kind I only get when I ovulate. Its all one side and in my bum and I feel super nauseous. This is unusual for me as my worst pain of the month is always ovulation when I often can't sit down for an hour or so because it hurts so much! Oddly I ovulated left this month and that is where the pain is. Anyone else experienced anything like this?

Anitaatje33 · 21/09/2020 20:25

@Motherofkittens28 where in your cycle are you? I often feel pains on the side I ovulated up until AF arrives, it comes and goes.

AF for me today, cycle 21 it is...Sad had my NHS consult today and already a HSG planned for next week, progress is being made, but now all I worry about is what if indeed my tubes are both blocked... anyone here who had one done that can share experience?

Motherofkittens28 · 21/09/2020 20:28

@Anitaatje33, im cycle day 24, 4 days from AF. Pain has stopped now but still feel nauseous. I have my first fertility appointment in the morning so will be interesting to see what they say. Is the HSG where they put dye in your tubes?

Whilstwewait · 21/09/2020 20:35

@Motherofkittens28 could be implantarion pains. I had a slight pain 10 DPO and got my positive the next day. It wasnt intense at all though was just like a wave that lasted like a second when I was half asleep. I didn't get proper cramps until the day AF was due. Got everything crossed for you

@Annny27 so glad you've got the ball rolling. It made me feel better doing something

@anitaatje33 sorry to hear AF has arrived. I believe if they find a blockage then they suggest IVF. My friend did have a blockage removed but that was because it was causing miscarriages. They only discovered it was the cause whilst undergoing IVf. Apparently the test can increase chances of a positive afterwards. Hope it goes well x

Anitaatje33 · 21/09/2020 20:38

@Motherofkittens28 good luck with your appointment! Sorry actually meant an SSG (so confusing all these names!) And yes it where they insert a purple dye to check for any blockages

Anitaatje33 · 21/09/2020 21:21

@Whilstwewait thanks yes I've heard also that the test itself can sometimes help 'flush' the tubes. Still a bit nervous for a negative outcome, but at least it would explain things.

Narwhal88 · 21/09/2020 21:55

@Annny27 sorry you're feeling low. I pretty much feel low all the time now, I've forgotten what it's like to feel happy. I really want to plan things to have things to look forward to but like you said, can't even do that! I'm too worried to get on a plane at the moment.

@Motherofkittens28 sorry I've not had pain like that really but I don't get bad ovulation pain. I do get horrific period pain though which starts 1-2 days before AF.

@Anitaatje33 I had a HSG 2 weeks ago, it was fine, not painful and over in a few minutes. My tubes were all clear, hopefully yours are too fingers crossed 🤞🏼

Anitaatje33 · 22/09/2020 07:37

@Narwhal88 i can totally relate... its so hard after so long and with everything else going on to stay positive and happy. What helps me a little bit is fertility meditation, going for long walks, and my husband and I just enjoy little day trips here and there

Motherofkittens28 · 22/09/2020 10:06

Morning ladies. So im being sent for day 1-4 bloods for thyroid, prolactin, AMH, hormones etc. Also being sent for an HSG. Might squeeze it into next cycle but its unlikely all the necessary can be done in time because my new cycle starts Friday. I was off the record advised to consider moving some of my details to my parents address and registering with a new GP as they live in a different county and in Hampshire (where we are) cut off for IVF is 34 so im too old. We live probably 3 miles from the Surrey border where its 39, so unfair! OH also being sent for another SA because of the low morphology and advised to cut back on alcohol to 5 units or less per week.

Anitaatje33 · 22/09/2020 12:55

@Motherofkittens28 I know its awful isnt it, so unfair, our borough in London only offers it after 3 years of ttc, every borough has different rules! We are already saving up for this cost at a private clinic

Motherofkittens28 · 22/09/2020 13:01

@Anitaatje33 it is isnt it. We are also already saving for private, hoping to start that in April depending on what happens between now and then. I'm working on about £5k a cycle, just mad

Whilstwewait · 22/09/2020 17:31

@motherofkittens28 good news about your tests and all the bloods. 34 cut off is ridiculous. Its 40 in my area. So unfair that its a postcode lottery. Maybe have a look at access fertility they do package deals. They don't actually do the IVf you just pay them and they pay the clinic. Hopefully it won't come to that though and you'll get your positive before x

Motherofkittens28 · 22/09/2020 18:38

Thanks @Whilstwewait, I did phone them after you mentioned them last time but its a bit too soon for us and you need to be able to pay up front, we need to save a bit more first. Just had a little cry about the new restrictions, starting to become a real possibility that our wedding won't be able to go ahead as we had envisaged next year. So hard not to be able to plan for anything at all, not the baby or the wedding 😕

Whilstwewait · 22/09/2020 18:46

Yes still plenty of time for you. I can't believe all this covid stuff again its so annoying. You're allowed to the pub but not in your parents house or in my area still not allowed a scan. Like your life is just on hold. When is your wedding? X

OP posts:
Motherofkittens28 · 22/09/2020 18:53

Its July, so still nearly 10 months away, its just them saying this lockdown will stay in place fof 6 months really makes me think there will still be restrictions next summer

Narwhal88 · 22/09/2020 19:00

@Motherofkittens28 hopefully July will be ok as it's summer and they are saying 6 months as it gets the NHS out of winter pressures. It's awful though, my brothers wedding was meant to be July this year, they moved it till November and now it's only 15 people. His finance has 9 brothers and sisters so it means not even all the close family can come now 😢
I'm so lucky I got married last year but I feel for everyone.

Motherofkittens28 · 22/09/2020 21:36

@Narwhal88 oh that's so awful its really cruel and nonsensical the rules around weddings

Motherofkittens28 · 24/09/2020 11:22

Hey all, hope everyone is OK. Day 1 of a new cycle for me as AF rocked up a day early!

notyetamumbuttrying · 24/09/2020 11:42

Boooo @Motherofkittens28 sorry to hear!! 1dpo for me so should really try dtd again today but not sure I can be arsed lol! Never manage to get one more in the day after!

kerrym87 · 24/09/2020 16:05

I'm just trying to get my OH to ask GP for a SA and he keeps saying he'll get round to it, however has not long gone back on phased return after being off work for 2 months. Don't wanna push but kinda frustrated as I take all vitamins under sun supposed to help, don't drink anymore, charting bbt and CM, had bloods done, scans ......
