Hi,

We have just hit the 12 month mark of TTC and looks like AF is on the way Sad I am on another thread that's really supportive but I do find it disheartening when people get positives on the first couple of cycles of trying. So thought I'd start a thread for anyone around about the year mark. It'll be good to share things and get advice from people who are at a similar stage to me. Im 34 and my husbands 36. We are TTC number 1 x

@claireb707 yep will bear in mind! I don't think we can wait another two years to be put on the list and then wait for treatment so we'd prob go private anyway. Just hoping it doesn't come to that and I'm just jumping the gun for no reason!

Lauralozzle · 11/07/2020 20:06

@Hayley19835 thanks for the heads up, I hope they won’t try to fob me off! But if they do I’ll be ready!

I’m determined not to feel sorry for myself today. So I’m sat here with a nice glass of wine and I’ve just had pudding ☺️ Key lime cheesecake is lovely and I feel like I deserve it because AF is a bitch!

I’m going to enjoy myself tomorrow and go for a nice walk in the Peak District.

Plus, I’ve decided that there’s still things I can do to try and help things. My BMI is about 28 - I can get that down. I can limit caffeine (coffee in morning only) and generally eat healthier (with treats on weekends only - and whenever AF shows up!).

I’ve got to remember that this may well be a very long journey and I don’t want to miserable for (potentially) the next couple of years.

Might even book a holiday!

I'm only on CD8 today and just craving all the bad foods. I've only done a week of eating progesterone boosting foods and now all I want is cake, wine and a McDonald's! I don't usually eat junk. I've got a few lockdown lbs on, but I'm still a healthy weight, but 'D'H is trying to keep me on the kale and sweet potato bandwagon Grin

Those of you whose CCGs don't cover IVF for three years, there are other treatments that can be offered before IVF, IUI for example. So don't be too disheartened. And they can do the tests to see what the issue is and identify other courses of action like diet or whether you need to support the sperm with things like preseed. IVF is usually the last option as it's so expensive/invasive.

@Lauralozzle I literally came out of the apt and was like oh there's nothing wrong she's just told me to relax abit and to stop worrying 🤦🏼‍♀️ I had no clue what to expect and what a rollercoaster of a journey we'd be getting on x

notyetamumbuttrying · 11/07/2020 21:36

Thanks @PlanBea. I always go worst case in my mind! I'm sure there's nothing actually wrong with us and just a timing thing. Time will tell...

creepin · 12/07/2020 21:34

AF due today and no sign.. took IC this morning and negative. Caved and took FRER digital this afternoon, also negative. Prob no chance I'm pregnant this month, right?

claireb707 · 13/07/2020 06:51

Cycle 12 day 1 😢😢😢

notyetamumbuttrying · 13/07/2020 08:03

@claireb707 aw Claire! Sorry my love. Treat yourself today, drink wine, eat chocolate and take care.
@creepin have you come on this morning?
So I forgot to pee on my opk this morning and it's a CB one! Need to try and hold for a few hours now, I'm such an idiot! Can't believe I forgot!

Lauralozzle · 13/07/2020 08:59

@Hayley19835 that’s ridiculous- just fobbing you off and telling you to relax.

@claireb707 sorry AF came. Hopefully you’ll have more success this cycle.

I have a list of things to do today, must make sure I call the doctors to arrange an appointment.

Hayley19835 · 13/07/2020 09:15

@Lauralozzle yea I wasn't best pleased but didn't know any different. I waited another 10months before I went back again x

Hayley19835 · 13/07/2020 09:15

@claireb707 sorry to hear AF arrived ☹️ x

RobinRose · 13/07/2020 12:30

Hello ladies, is it OK if I join? Will be going into month 11 next month (af due in a couple of days, no point denying her arrival!), I just feel we are going to go beyond the 12 month mark. I really didn't expect it to take this long (silly me). How do you cope hitting that mark?!

creepin · 13/07/2020 15:54

Officially cycle 12 day 1 here as well @claireb707

Chel93 · 13/07/2020 16:04

Whilstwewait · 13/07/2020 16:57

@RobinRose welcome. The 12 month mark is bloody awful. I found it really difficult and theres no avoiding that but just think of it as an opportunity now to get some tests done just to check everything is ok. You kind of feel more in control when you hit 12 months and can do something about it.

@Chel93 I think you just carry on as nornal and your period is just classed as a few days late. It may be worth mentioning it to doctor. Your not far off your fertility appointment so definitely mention it to them. I can see a squinter on the test with a ring. Gutted for you xx

Chel93 · 13/07/2020 22:43

@Whilstwewait its a very heavy bleed with big blood clots so think its on its way out, what is FW sorry? Are you are they prescribed or have you bought them? I tried pregnacare conception his and hers I had a longer cycle and spotting the whole way through on them need to try something else. I feel the exact same no hope anymore, fingers crossed for you this month 👏🤞

Han91s · 14/07/2020 10:43

Hey guys, hope I'm OK to join the party. I had my 12 month ttc blood tests yesterday. My cycles over the last 12 months have been pretty hectic. Who knew making a baby was so complicated hey! Smile

Motherofkittens28 · 14/07/2020 10:57

Morning all. Anyone else ever get months where all this baby making just feels too regimented and you'd really like to dtd just because you actually want to? Normally our sex life is fine and we woild still dtd outside of my fertile period but this month it just feels so mechanical. I'm due to ovulate tomorrow but we've only dtd twice since Friday and I just can't get any enthusiasm up for it. Is ig just me?????

RobinRose · 14/07/2020 11:13

@Motherofkittens28 no it isn't just you! It started to feel regimented and I would get stressed if we didn't dtd when my opks were positive. I have not used the opks for two months now, we dtd every other day or 3 days which works for us. Bound to hit some of the fertile window that way I find. If we don't want to dtd then we're not going to.

beachbum85 · 14/07/2020 11:37

Definitely not just you @Motherofkittens28
Even when we actually want to, my head gets into a spin and it feels mechanical all the same. It's a shame coz it was never like this before TTC. Last cycle I didn't track anything at all and it did help a bit, but I still knew more-or-less when my FW would be, so the pressure was still on.

PlanBea · 14/07/2020 12:26

@Motherofkittens28 same, it becomes a by more of a chore after a while! We're doing SMEP this month and it's been ok so far. I have so far phrased it as "we're not allowed sex today!" For the non DTD days rather than "today we must DTD" which makes it feel a bit more fun Grin but I couldn't do it every month.

I had a thought earlier that we'd initially been trying for an October 2019 baby, we're now aiming at April 2021 at the earliest Shock it was one of those weird thoughts that really put how long we've been trying into perspective. Especially as this year has just been crazy.
