Hi,

We have just hit the 12 month mark of TTC and looks like AF is on the way Sad I am on another thread that's really supportive but I do find it disheartening when people get positives on the first couple of cycles of trying. So thought I'd start a thread for anyone around about the year mark. It'll be good to share things and get advice from people who are at a similar stage to me. Im 34 and my husbands 36. We are TTC number 1 x

@notyetamumbuttrying Thank You! I just hope we get some answers and then a plan as to what our next step is! Will keep my fingers crossed you don't need to make that apt 🤞🏻 AF has just finished here so we off go again I'm not testing or temping anymore as I was becoming a crazy lady so all down to pot luck now x

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/07/2020 20:47

@Hayley19835 thank you! Af finished for me today too so we'll be bk on it this weekend! I'll be on again by 29th I think so we shall see! I knew temping would make me crazy so I haven't bothered. I will use the opk's though as I have them in.

claireb707 · 09/07/2020 20:52
@Hayley19835 best of luck for next month!! We're going to the drs next month. Due on end of the month so will be calling on the 1st!
@claireb707 we're trying for no 1 too, it's so hard with the wait when you don't know if it's just time of something else. Hope all the tests come bk fine. Are you being referred through the nhs?
Even harder when we don't know if it's me or him (or both of us)...

Yeah hopefully NHS but already know I'm over the NHS ivf age around here so we would have to go private for that if it came to it so will see how things go (when I can get him to ring the flipping doctor 😂)

Hayley19835 · 09/07/2020 20:56

@notyetamumbuttrying OH took mine away he told me I was a mad woman in the nicest possible way 😂 I must admit I feel more relaxed not having them to hand now! AF will be back on the 26th for me so we are pretty close in dates x

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/07/2020 21:05

@claireb707 eek I still need to check what the threshold is round here. I'm not 35 until March so hoping by some miracle we get referred quickly if it's under 35 here.

@Hayley19835 haha these poor men suffer through this don't they 😂 yeah we are close in dates! I think I'll be 28th as I think I'll ov earlier than my app predicts as I've stopped taking the agnus castus this month so I'll prob go bk to my cd10 ov days! Agnus moved it to cd12 but then gave me short LP's and light periods with prolonged spotting. Would rather go bk to normal even with the pms and pain. Felt weird messing with my cycles!

Hayley19835 · 09/07/2020 21:08

@notyetamumbuttrying you'd think they'd love all this DTD on tap 🤷‍♀️😂
Ive seen so much about this Angus Cactus but not tried it myself x

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/07/2020 21:17

@Hayley19835 I know 😝 I can tell mine feels a bit used as we don't do it in the tww or once max lol! Not through my doing tho, he doesn't initiate, hardly ever!
I would say only take it if your cycles are irregular, if they're regular than don't bother. Mine are regular, I just wanted to ov later cos of immature eggs etc but didn't realise it would give me extended spotting and shorten my LP. I've since read that ppl conceive on early ov's anyway so I'm just gonna let nature run its course now.

Hayley19835 · 09/07/2020 21:21

@notyetamumbuttrying ahh ok my cycles are regular so that's good to know not to bother 👍🏻 I'm not sure how much all this pumping ourselves with this and don't do this that or the other actually works anyway x

EasterBunny7 · 09/07/2020 21:26

Sorry to jump in. I could really do with some advice. I have pcos. Ttc 20 months. On day 3 of what I thought is my period but it's completely different to anything I've experienced! Hardly any blood, dark brown in colour. I've tested negative but could that be because hcg levels aren't high enough on day 3? I'm concerned because I was supposed to take my clomid tablet yesterday but don't want to risk it if this is a pregnancy. What do you think? Am I imagining things?

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/07/2020 21:31

@Hayley19835 totally agree!! Everything else I take doesn't affect my cycle so I'll carry on with just those. And rattle when I walk 😝

@EasterBunny7 ooh that's a tough one! As could be IB or just a weird period. If you've tested negative I'd be tempted to believe it. I can see your doubts though. Can you check with the docs in the morning?

EasterBunny7 · 09/07/2020 21:58

@notyetamumbuttrying

I'm possibly kidding myself Hmm

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/07/2020 22:05

@EasterBunny7 hard when you want it so badly! Feel for you. Thanks

I wouldn't worry too much, it's 40 here so you've got plenty of time left...

Lauralozzle · 10/07/2020 11:20

@Whilstwewait
I think it’s the paranoia setting in because it’s taken so long. Immediately feel like something must be wrong! I’m glad I’m not the only one searching/researching IVF and clinics! Just trying to be prepared.

I would imagine we’d be eligible for 1 cycle on NHS if it gets to that. But I know it get can take multiple tries and it’s not guaranteed- I think the multi-cycles are probably the way to go.

@claireb707
Ahh, the curse of dropping temps! Hopefully your OH can get the SA sorted soon. I feel your pain, my cycles are similar, ovulate every month (pos opks and temp confirming ovulation) regular cycles (mine range between 25/28 days - sometimes I ovulate early). Luteal phase is normal-ish (11/12 days) so a bit on the short side but not problematic.

@Hayley19835 good luck for your OH at the hospital today.

I’ve started spotting today, so I’m definitely out. AF will arrive either today, or tomorrow. Pretty much band on time - FF has been down as 12dpo but I think I’m 13dpo based on opk and ovulation pains so I’d expect to start this evening.

Hayley19835 · 10/07/2020 11:32

@Lauralozzle sorry to here AF is possibly on its way!
hospital all done! His apt was 8am this morning. He had a bit of nightmare as he was all on the bed ready in all his glory and the machine broke 😂 we had to laugh! Finally got another machine sorted and they've said they can see some changes where he had retained testicle surgery as a kid but otherwise looks ok so just got to wait for bloods to come back and for fertility to make a plan for us when we go back in August. What a morning!

PlanBea · 10/07/2020 11:48

@EasterBunny7 were days 1 and 2 as usual? If it's a short cycle then it may be that your progesterone levels are low, it can cause spotting before your period starts or shorter periods as the endometrial lining hasn't thickened up enough. Did you temp this cycle? It tends to show up in a lower than usual luteal phase temperature.

@lauralozzle sorry to hear you're out. Though another cycle is another chance. Hopefully next one is the one for you Flowers do you know which CCG you're registered in? They differ around the country but mine allows 3 cycles.

Lauralozzle · 10/07/2020 12:30

@PlanBea I do, I just checked. Derby and Derbyshire- 1 cycle only.

@Hayley19835 glad to hear it went ok 👍

I’m past expecting anything other than AF at the moment! Oh how wrong I was to think regular periods = fertility

PlanBea · 10/07/2020 12:44

@Lauralozzle it's crazy it's such a postcode lottery! Looking at your nearby CCGs they are all the same

notyetamumbuttrying · 10/07/2020 12:59

Same! @Lauralozzle. I'm always regular so thought I'd have no problems, how wrong I was...still need to look up SE London for my area on treatments etc. Will do that tomorrow as not gonna call docs until next month. Having one more cycle first! 🤞🏾

OrdinaryLilac · 10/07/2020 13:35

Hey Ladies,

I've been quiet past few days. I've been very confused. 8 days late, one faint positive, then negatives.. Really have been scratching my head. TTC with number 1 so don't even know what it feels like when 'you just know' haha.
I got some First Response Tests the other day, but by mistake I picked up with Rapid Results rather than earlies..

I tested this morning. Not even with FMU.

Please can someone confirm this after our year of trying 😭

TTC 12 months buddies please
notyetamumbuttrying · 10/07/2020 14:14

@OrdinaryLilac defo a line there! Call the docs and see if they'll book you in for a blood test to confirm further. Or if you've not yet missed your period, do another test the day after. Congratulations!!

notyetamumbuttrying · 10/07/2020 14:15

@OrdinaryLilac sorry just realised you said 8 days late! I think the line would be stronger by now so defo call the docs for a blood test, good luck!

OrdinaryLilac · 10/07/2020 14:19

@notyetamumbuttrying well I got a positive opk at CD27 (usually get AF around CD30 so it's been a really weird cycle) so I'm only about 11dpo by my reckoning. So am I technically late? I don't get it with my ovulation being so late.

It's really sounding positive to me. But I desperately trying not to get my hopes up just in case, for whatever reason, this turns out to be nothing.

It's so much more clear In person. Really could do with some good news!

notyetamumbuttrying · 10/07/2020 14:32

Oh right @OrdinaryLilac in that case then test again at 14dpo and the line should be much darker. I'd wait until then before calling the docs as they're likely to tell you to wait a few more days too (I could be wrong tho), they'll prob then give you the number of a midwife to book in your scan. This is what I've been told as I've never been pregnant myself before.

OrdinaryLilac · 10/07/2020 14:37

Oh yes, definitely going to wait until after the weekend @notyetamumbuttrying. Wihtbit being so long, I'm still a bit on the fence as to whether or not I can believe it!
Im probably not alone in saying that I have done many many tests and this to me is a no brainer. But I have hear horric stories about false positives, especially with FR, surprisingly.
I will keep you guys updated. Please cross everything for me! X
