Hi,

We have just hit the 12 month mark of TTC and looks like AF is on the way Sad I am on another thread that's really supportive but I do find it disheartening when people get positives on the first couple of cycles of trying. So thought I'd start a thread for anyone around about the year mark. It'll be good to share things and get advice from people who are at a similar stage to me. Im 34 and my husbands 36. We are TTC number 1 x

@Motherofkittens28 sorry to hear that. Do you have any comfort food in the house? Maybe some wine you can have a glass of then the diet resumes tomorrow? Sometimes we just need to be kind to ourselves

Whilstwewait · 27/08/2020 20:43

@PaisleyJade welcome to the group. Although i wish no one had to be here its lovely to speak to people in a similar situation for advice and support. What tests have you had so far?

@Narwhal88 welcome. Sorry you're here as well. Sounds like you're in a really good place after all your tests mentally though and one step closer to a baby with the fertility referral fingers crossed

@Fran2020 both NHS and private consultant said my pre AF spotting could be a polyp but not actually had a scan yet. Maybe mention it to your acupuncture lady as mine said she can help with polyps

@kerrym87 don't feel bad at all. A friend of mine has had 2 chemicals and I felt the same. I felt so bad for her but I also thought at least its not another pregnancy announcement to cry over. I hate feeling that way. I think its natural to feel that way when you have tried for so long though so try not to feel bad.

@Jilly1988 i have only had spotting after ovulation once it can be completely normal. However as planbea said I'd go to your doctors and explain you have mid cycle bleeding (don't mention its at ovulation). I've seen 2 fertility consultants recently who have said my pre AF spotting could be a polyp and both checked i was up to date with my smear. So worth getting your doctor to do a smear and then an internal scan. They can't ignore these things just because your TTC

@Motherofkittens28 so sorry. Definitely have a break from your diet and a glass of wine xx

@PlanBea I had an ultrasound and cos bloods in Feb due to family history but was only 5 months off implant (had been on it 12 years). They said they were normal but found I have a subseptate uterus. They sent letter to gynae and I got a letter stating it's likely insignificant but they didn't review my blood and scan I don't think as they never mentioned it. They said issues likely to be pcos however gp has not done anything else thought I'd give it time. I have regular periods but long (42 mostly occasional 35) with 3-4 episodes of ewcm per cycle. Good temp rise eventually happens and I have a clear 15 days luteal phase but have lots of body hair, spots, now getting more pain with each cycle and IBS gets so much worse and pain during sex (inside my abdomen on left) which starts about a week before ovulation- totally unhelpful cos if I change position to help gravity takes a hols on the deposit! That's getting worse too. Got appt with nurse practitioner 4th Sept so hoping to get referred to gynae and get tests repeated cos I'm not sure the GP was entirely sure what they're looking at.

And the TWW is a killer!
@Jilly1988 any spotting outside if menstruation when you look on nhs website should be further investigated, have you had a scan or anything? Fibroids or polyps can cause spotting x

Motherofkittens28 · 28/08/2020 14:17

Thanks @Whilstwewait and @PlanBea, AF arrived on time this morning so into a new cycle for me. I've managed to stay on my diet for now though id kill for a big piece of cake right now! I have to remember that being thinner will apparently increase my chances of conceiveing in the long run!

Anitaatje33 · 28/08/2020 17:41

AF arrived today for me as well, all I can do is cry, I'm entering cycle no 20 now :(
I felt so relaxed this cycle, yoga and meditation every day, and really felt I was taking a break from trying too hard and stressing over every little symptom. Really thought I had a chance this cycle :(
Trying acupuncture next week and potentially herbal medicine as a last resort to cure my unexplained infertility. Anyone has experience with TCM treatment?

Narwhal88 · 28/08/2020 19:41

@Whilstwewait thank you. Yeah I feel in a better place than I was but I still have a lot of moments where I feel really sad about it all. The only thing that keeps me going is getting each test done to check it off the list.

@Anitaatje33 AF started for me today as well and also now on cycle 20 😭

Positive news, finally managed to book my HSG today as they have just this week started them up again. So got that to look forward to now....means this cycle is out though as I'm not allowed to have sex until after the test. The test is on my predicted ovulation day.

Anitaatje33 · 29/08/2020 08:29

@Narwhal88 sorry to hear you're in the same boat... good you've got a scan planned, is a HSG the same as a hycosy where they insert dye? That's my recommend next step.

Narwhal88 · 29/08/2020 09:28

@Anitaatje33 yeah I think one uses dye and one uses water maybe but essentially the same thing. To check your tubes are clear of any blockages. I've heard it can be painful for some women so make sure you take painkillers beforehand if you have one just in case.

Jilly1988 · 29/08/2020 09:44

Good idea @Whilstwewait and @PlanBea I might do that then. Seems to be if you don’t push they don’t do anything or take ttc serious which is annoying. Still have some brown discharge when I wipe, temps have started to rise so I did ovulate. I’ve read in can be from the drop in estrogen. I have had all tests like ultrasound, day 21, AMH and Husband has had SA but they never offered a day 3 blood test which maybe would be useful to see my estrogen and fsh levels.

Whilstwewait · 31/08/2020 08:09

Morning girls. Thought it was about time the group got some good news and can't believe its me posting it. Cycle 14, 11 DPO it came up within a minute. Cannot believe it. Xx

Congratulations @Whilstwewait that's fantastic news!! xx

Annny27 · 31/08/2020 09:03

Thats incredible news @Whilstwewait :D any symptoms?

Enjoy it all! Have you told DH?

Congratulations, congratulations, congratulations:D xxxx

Whilstwewait · 31/08/2020 09:17

Thank you @Annny27 and @Hayley19835.

Yes DH knows. He wanted me to do a test but I thought it may be too early. Did this test after my cheapy as well.

If i wasn't trying to conceive I'd say no symptoms as I haven't felt different at all. I had a sore throat day 7 and 8 then day 9 woke with what felt like a hangover. I had a huge row in work the day before with a customer though and put it down to that. No cramps, no sickness. I haven't had any of my usual spotting this month.

This month was the most stressed I'd been. I had a job interview, cystitis and loads of stress in work with a new system during ovulation week. All I did differently was walked loads (50 miles for a challenge normally I don't walk much) and acupuncture. However maybe this was just meant to be. It was our last natural try before IVF x

Massive congratulations @Whilstwewait so so pleased for you. Enjoy every single minute of this. So nice to hear some positive news here and will give us a boost of positivity that it can happen for us.

Whilstwewait · 31/08/2020 09:33

@Jilly1988 thank you. Honestly I never thought we would get to this point. Even doing the test this morning I just thought it would be another stark white and I'd be squinting imagining something there. For some of us it just does take a little longer unfortunately. I know how difficult it is seeing peoples test but was hoping it would give people some hope. One day it will be you xx

Hayley19835 · 31/08/2020 09:45

It's such lovely news and does give us all hope 😊 had you had tests etc done hence the last natural cycle before IVF?

Whilstwewait · 31/08/2020 09:50

@Hayley19835 I was just waiting for a scan to check for polyps. We had sperm test done, bloods and AMH. No issues found. It was probably too soon for IVf in hindsight but was having a massive toll on our mental health and we just couldn't face trying for another 8 months x

OP posts:
Hayley19835 · 31/08/2020 09:55

Mental health is such a major part of this TTC business and I don't think there's enough out there to support it at all. So so pleased for you. We've eased off a bit now as we know we need IVF so just taking a more relaxed approach as we know it's unlikely to happen naturally and I feel so much better already xx

notyetamumbuttrying · 31/08/2020 10:51

@Whilstwewait congrats 🥳 that's great news to see when logging on! Certainly does gives us all hope.

It's ov day for me today and hubby couldn't keep it up so feeling a bit deflated now. We've been at it everyday on holiday and the minute we come home and I get peak, he's uninterested! He didn't know it was peak or ov today but he must've figured it out as we had loads of sex already so to still want more, he must've known why and just couldn't perform. Let's hope the previous 4 times was enough! It's our year of trying when I'm due on mid September so was really hoping this would be it! Don't feel so positive now 😒

Anitaatje33 · 31/08/2020 11:16

@Whilstwewait congrats, so happy for you!!

Whilstwewait · 31/08/2020 13:50

@Hayley19835 it definitely is so difficult for your mental health and no one prepares you for it. Once you know you're getting help and can leave it in hands of experts it does make you feel so much better.

@notyetamumbuttrying thanks so much. Honestly don't worry. I've had months when we have had sex everyday and not been pregnant. Days before ovulation count the most. We DTD the Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday. I got my peak the Wednesday. I usually ovulate day after my peak but did feel pains on the wednesday after ovulation so not sure if ovulated the Wednesday. Try tomorrow just in case

@Anitaatje33 thanks so much x

@Whilstwewait thats wonderful news so so happy for you! Gives us all hope that even after all the BFNs a BFP could be just around the corner. xxx

@Whilstwewait congratulations how amazing on your last try! :) xx
