Hi,

We have just hit the 12 month mark of TTC and looks like AF is on the way Sad I am on another thread that's really supportive but I do find it disheartening when people get positives on the first couple of cycles of trying. So thought I'd start a thread for anyone around about the year mark. It'll be good to share things and get advice from people who are at a similar stage to me. Im 34 and my husbands 36. We are TTC number 1 x

@PlanBea your chart looks promising. I'd be happy with those symptoms at 6dpo. I never get any. It was ok thanks won't find out for a few weeks. Some tough questions so don't think having longer to prepare would have made much difference

@notyetamumbuttrying the private clinic arranged it before our consultation. It was a pin prick test I did at home. You can buy them online though. I was just concerned about getting results through post and panicking about them if they were low

@Motherofkittens28 oh definitely lots of people get good results with a lower number. It only takes one doesn't it and for trying naturally it doesn't even matter as our body only releases one. I've heard of people's going up even though its not meant to so you never know. You were so sensible to freeze when you were younger. There definitely needs to be more out there about it. I would never have considered it but so many woman meet their partner later on these days. How is everything else with you?

@claireb707 thanks I will certainly look into our local clinic see what they can offer so I'm more clued up when we have this apt in 8 weeks with NHS clinic. Got to get another SA done in the meantime for them to see what's going on now if anything has changed or we have got worse....again!
AF is due tomorrow so let's see what this cycle brings only takes one as they say 🤞🏻xx

Thank you @PlanBea id been trawling the internet to see what info I could find so I'll add those things to our list I'll do anything right now to help his motility out before we resort to doner sperm or IVF! xx

These a wealth of info out there but it's so nice to hear others tips and tricks on here 😊

PlanBea · 21/08/2020 20:46

@Hayley19835 if you're on Instagram, there's a woman called thefertilitydetective who does an "ask me a question" every Friday night. She's a fertility specialist who deals with difficult cases. She might have some better ideas for motility!

Hayley19835 · 21/08/2020 21:33

@PlanBea thank you I shall look her up! xx

notyetamumbuttrying · 22/08/2020 12:05

@Whilstwewait oh interesting! Might look into that depending on what comes next after bloods and scan. Hubs did his SA on Thursday so two weeks for those results. We're heading to Portugal tomorrow as our first wedding anniversary is on Monday! We're so in need of a break, literally can't wait!
@PlanBea thanks for the insta tip!

Happy Saturday everyone!

Whilstwewait · 22/08/2020 13:36

@PlanBea I checked out the fertility detective on insta loads of great things on there really well explained. Thanks

@notyetamumbuttrying happy anniversary have the most amazing time away. You deserve a good break

I'll probably be a little quieter on here. Im on a phone ban. Going to continue to do lots of walking. Start my yoga again and try and get myself in the best shape mentally and physically. So will probably just check in every couple of days to see how you're all getting on.

Have a good weekend

notyetamumbuttrying · 22/08/2020 14:19

@Whilstwewait thanks! Enjoy your break and chill time. I'm gonna try and not come on whilst on holiday, take a proper break from everything! Speak soon xx

Jilly1988 · 23/08/2020 13:42

How is everyone? I decided to take a bit of a break from thinking about all things TTC after my chemical (don’t think that’s possible though) I’m on CD11 going by the first day of bleeding and got my peak on CB which I wasn’t expecting as always around CD14 or 15 but body might be off after last cycle.

Going back to work in September and stupidly when lock down happened I always thought when September came I would definitely be pregnant.

Fran2020 · 23/08/2020 14:16

Hey everyone, I hope you're all having a lovely weekend! I'm trying to reduce how much time I spend on Mumsnet. Started reading this book and would totally recommend it.

@Whilstwewait Nope, Tuesday isn't look at all - I was very surprised it was so soon. Fingers crossed they talk through it whilst doing it!

@notyetamumbuttrying thank you!

@PlanBea thank you! Yeah it's a full bladder scan. Oh dear!! I hope that doesn't happen to me 😂 Fingers crossed that's an implantation dip! Thank you for the suggestion on Instagram.

Motherofkittens28 · 23/08/2020 17:27

@Jilly1988, it's so hard not to do that, im always thinking oh maybe I'll be on maternity leave by x date. I was certainly sure we would have our baby before our wedding but that is looking very unlikely now!

I've been so good this month not really thinking about anything ttc related as we arent officially trying anymore but about two days ago my boobs started getting really sore and I'm back to symptom spotting! Grrr so annoyed with myself. I have to remember that something similar happened last month and we werent pregnant so chances are same will be true this time. AF is due Friday so not too long to torture myself!

Annny27 · 24/08/2020 09:42

morning :D had a lkttle break when I was on my periof but cd7 now and ready for cycle 15s fertile week 🙏🙏😫😫

@Fran2020 might look into that book!

Anyone due to test? I think a lot of us just had AF

Whilstwewait · 24/08/2020 21:06

Hope you're ok @Annny27

I'm 4dpo so a while to test although usually spot from day 9

We have decided if no luck this cycle we are going to try mild IVF in october. I'm a bit torn as worry we are rushing it but think id feel worse if we kept trying for another 6 months with still no luck. We want a couple and the mental stress is too much x

kerrym87 · 24/08/2020 21:43

AF due tomorrow for me boobs have been SO sore and normally they start to ease off by now but I know it probably doesn't mean anything, especially as I think we missed our window. Doesnt stop a little bit of hope at that back of my mind but too scares to test! Did take your advice and have a phone appointment with nurse practitioner on 4th September about long cycles and other minor issues, so hopefully something will come of that.

Annny27 · 25/08/2020 08:57

@Whilstwewait is this your first or do you have DC already? And is it private or NHS?

@kerrym87 best of luck lovely!!!!

claireb707 · 25/08/2020 09:07

Partner just rang, he's had the results from his SA 😢 good motility but very low count. He's been told to book in for testosterone bloods and we'll see what we can do after that. But it's very very unlikely we'll conceive naturally 😢😢

Annny27 · 25/08/2020 09:20

@claireb707 so sorry lovely:(

How us your partner feeling?

Luckily male factor fertility issues mean that ivf is usually quite successful but its difficult to think about that :(

claireb707 · 25/08/2020 09:27

He's upset, but at work, at least I'm at home so I can have a cry in private. He's going to try and book for bloods asap

kerrym87 · 25/08/2020 11:23

AF arrived bang on, at least my luteal phase is consistent 15 days. It's just the ovulation takes ages and occasionally is a week earlier! Onto cycle 11 and into the 13th month. @claireb707 sorry to hear about SA, I'm thinking it's the next step for us alongside getting my bloods checked but as hubby just started phased return after being off sick 2 months, will have to time it sensitively!Confused

PlanBea · 25/08/2020 13:54

@claireb707 sorry he didn't get a great result. But good motility is a positive. It only takes one after all!

DH dropped his SA sample off today, but forgot to ask when he gets his results. Hopefully in the next two weeks. I've been feeling crampy for the past few days which is unusual for me so early in my cycle. 10dpo today. Going to try and wait to test as our anniversary is 17dpo and there's no way I could keep a result secret for a week!

claireb707 · 25/08/2020 13:56

First appointment for his bloods was the 11th September, feels ages away 😢

Whilstwewait · 25/08/2020 17:23

Aw sorry to hear that @claireb707 as others have said though there is a very good chance of pregnancy through IVF. He has sperm and it really does only take 1. I've heard many people with low count get pregnant naturally as well. Take some time to process things and weigh up your options before the appt on the 11th. I know it feels ages away but will soon be here. Also look into access fertility if you're considering private. You can get multi cycle deals or refund packages. You do need to pay for extra tests and medication on top

@PlanBea they said 2 weeks for my husbands but was actually a lot quicker than that so I'd get him to ring in a week

@Annny27 this will be our first. We are going private. For NHS i need my tubes testing and that's not currently been done in my area. If that came back clear it would be 12 months before we got NHS treatment and I really don't want to wait that long. I may be impatient but it does feel like it'll never happen and I'll be 35 in October plus worried about not going for it and treatment be cancelled again due to covid. It'll be worth it if it works

@Fran2020 how was your scan?

@kerrym87 sorry to hear AF arrived. Definitely worth arranging the SA and at least making enquiries as some girls on here have said their NHS still aren't doing them or there is a wait time

Fran2020 · 25/08/2020 17:58

@claireb707 I'm so sorry to hear that ❤️ September will be here before you know it xx

@Whilstwewait
I had a regular ultrasound first then had to go and have a wee before the internal scan. They said they could see one (maybe two) fibroid but it wasn't embedded in to the lining. She said my lining seemed to be thicker than expected for CD6. Then possibly could see a polyp. The scans etc will all be sent to my doctor within 7-10 days and she said to make an appointment with them. I guess the doctor will be able to analyse it more.

Whilstwewait · 25/08/2020 18:40

@Fran2020 how do you feel about it? Are you glad there's something there so at least a potential easy fix to why you haven't conceived yet? Both consultants mentioned polyps causing my spotting before AF. I suppose thicker lining better than thin. Perhaps yours is thicker because you ovulate earlier. I have no idea though x

@claireb707 I'm sorry to hear his result wasn't great but some sperm isn't no sperm what was his count? Have they recommended any ways to help improve it?
Are they only looking at testosterone? xx

No number given so no idea how low.

I'm going to ring my doc and see if we can now get referral without waiting for his bloods
